November 17, 2021 - National Hobbs Joins Team Taz Day
Rating: 90% - Must Watch Wish Tony had swapped this episode with last week’s episode. It’s a much better starting point for new viewers. ANYHOO.

Rating: 79% - Worth Watching Full Gear! Because Half Gear doesn’t inspire confidence!
Big TK put out the call and you responded! Well, two of you did at any rate. When Tony Khan asked fans to bring in new people to try out Dynamite, we asked OUR fans and Dennis Kanenwisher did just that! We get his thoughts on this week’s Dynamite after not watching any wrestling for a couple of years. Did the show make sense? Did he like it? Will he watch the PPV? Listen to find out! Then we got an old friend, Matt Mazany, to join us and talk about the show! Matt has his own wrestling podcast, G...
Rating: 94% - Must Watch Tony Khan called his shot. Did they knock it out of the park? Well, with a show that starts with Bryan Danielson and ends with A MIRROR UNIVERSE GOATEE, how could they not? Stay tuned for a bonus episode (hopefully before the PPV drops Saturday?) where we talk to a couple of guests about their thoughts on the show!
Rating: 88% - Worth Watching We won’t apologize for the length of this week’s show because we HAVE to talk about Rampage this past week. Holy hell, can you remember a better hour of televised wrestling? We can’t! Not only was it great - it made parts of Dynamite great! Plus talk about cinematic spiders - because if we ever stayed on topic, we’d probably die.
Rating: 95% - Must Watch Dynamite’s Halloween episode is glorious - just glorious. Stu’s Kratos! Silver’s Bambi! And clearly, as the funkiest member of the Elite, Adam Cole’s Winston!
Rating: 89% - Worth Watching Boy, these Friday/Saturday nights back to back are KILLING us! I honestly don’t *know* what it means that it’s Saturday night, JR! Does it mean Turner loves hockey more than you? Does it mean I’m gonna have to stay up all night to catch up on Rampage? Does it mean you’re live from New York with myooooosical guest Bel Biv Devoe? What? WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN?!
Rating: 85% - Worth Watching Is it weird to say an 85% rating feels low? There were so many AMAZING segments this week, it feels like we’re selling the show short. Come for Danielson/Fish, stay for cowboy shit and 40 year-old NYC metal scene references!
Rating: 83% - Worth Watching Look, if you bookend your show with an 8-man tag and an 8-man ladder match with all your best wrestlers, we’re gonna thumb it up. Sorry not sorry.
Rating: 87% - Worth Watching Okay, let’s just get this out of the way - most of the hosts are no fan of “Spanish Food” Sammy Guevara. And if you agree with us, this episode’s gonna be rough on you. We recommend pouring yourself a stiff one, settling in, and letting us guide you though it.
Rating: 92% - Must Watch Two Must Watches in a row - it’s almost like AEW knows what it’s doing or something! Bookended by two AMAZING matches and only barely flagging in between, this is a hell of an episode from Arthur Ashe!
Rating: 92% Must Watch Is this the first Must Watch of the new scoring system? A slew of short, fun promos made for a great rating this week, but it’s Cole/Kazarian and Martin and Sydal/FTR match that’s the true backbone of this episode. Also, they book our dream match for next Rampage, so there’s that. Thanks for listening!
Rating: 88% - Worth Watching So many mini-promos, so little time! AEW follows up its monster PPV with an exceedingly nimble show that bounces around like it forgot its ritalin. But that’s not a bad thing! Tons of face time for all sorts of people and enough solid in-ring work to make even the surliest cuss smile. Thanks for listening!
Rating: 89% - Worth Watching Well, the Monday Night Wars won’t TRULY be back until WWE gives us Fake Daniel Bryan and Fake CM Punk … but damnit, this is the next best thing. An absolute banger of a pay-per-view with not one, not two, but THREE major wrestler debuts to piggyback on the enormous get of Punk. Never gonna get tired of hearing those entrances…
Rating: 83% - Worth Watching It’s the 100th episode of Dynamite, we’re heading into a PPV, and coronavirus means the women get to be on the main card! A mixed blessing to be sure, but nevertheless, there’s fun to be had. Not a lot of in-ring action this week (comparatively), but it’s all top-notch. FTR/Santana and Ortiz! Orange Cassidy and Jack Evans! Powerhouse and Brian Cage! Penelope and Tay! And a sick 8-man tag presaging all sorts of hijinks at All Out!...
Rating: 76% - Worth Watching So much thickness in this episode along with enough long entrances to drive Theresa absolutely batty! From the giggly joys of a Dan Lambert promo to the epic sincerity of a CM Punk promo to an absolutely Vince McMahon-style fumbling of the ball when it comes to Malakai Black - this show has it all! Literally!
Rating: 85% - Worth Watching We’re covering the first Rampage AND the new Little Caesars Crazy Calzony and all on so little sleep that it’s a tiny miracle every time we manage to stay on topic. Enjoy!
Rating: 84% - Worth Watching A gimmicked apple?!
Rating: 89% - Worth Watching It’s been a hell of a week, y’all…
Rating: 83% - Worth Watching It’s Fight for the Fallen and we had an honest-to-goodness American-style deathmatch on TNT for the first time since … well, EVER! Couple that with two big deal NJPW faces, Thunder Rosa’s first Dynamite since signing with AEW, and KING HAKUUUUUUUU, it’s quite a sight to behold.
Rating: 79% - Worth Watching All they’d have to do was cut out three minutes of the show and it’d be a 90%+ Must Watch episode… *sigh* [thinks about what could have been] Of course, there’s still a hell of a lot to see on this second night of Fyter Fest - including one hell of a Texas Deathmatch between Mox and Lance Archer. Let’s thumb this bad boy!
Rating: 84% Worth Watching This podcast is cursed! Probably our fault for recording over an ancient mammoth burial ground. Technical troubles led to a VERY loose (but also pretty fun) episode. Opinions were VERY divided - and we have a rare double rainbow episode. But night one of Fyter Fest still had more great matches than you can shake a stick at - The IWGP US Championship is on the line! The FTW title is on the line! Darby Allin's spine is WAY out of line! - so dive in and find out how it al...
Rating: 84% - Worth Watching A slow start for this one, but they pull it back from the brink! You wanna see Don Callis call the audience insects? You wanna see an MMA guy get what’s coming to him? You wanna see what the mean streets of Rancho Cucamonga produced? You wanna see the surprise debut of a huge name that we all thought was still under a 90-day non-compete clause? This is the show for you! It’s also the show for you if you want to see a very, very plodding and unnecessary strap match. S...
Rating: 89% - Worth Watching The new rating system in place and appears to be working as intended! For those who don’t know, we tally up everyones thumbs each episode and render them as a percentage of possible thumbs for the show. The old system was calibrated to WWE Raw, which was a more … inconsistent product. But because Dynamite is consistently good, we had to make it harder! So here’s how it breaks down now: If the total is beneath 60%, we’ll tell you to skip the show entirely. If it’s bet...
Rating: 81% - Must Watch Is this a weird show? You be the judge! We’ve got our first double rainbow in a while (when all three hosts give a different thumb rating TWICE in an episode), so that’s weird. The Shiny Bun Boys (a moniker given by Theresa to her original WWE ship of Appollo Crews and Ricochet because of their glistening attire) might be back, and that’s weird. And we posit the existence of a “Theresa Do List” that someone in the AEW front office is surely compiling. Plus - do you think...
Rating: 85% - Must Watch Alternate titles for this week’s episode: Jericho’s Owie Arm The Tire Fires - Hook and Sammy Guevara Ughbarfsnooze There Is a Brutality to Cheerleading Don’t forget this week’s Dynamite airs SATURDAY and is back to its regular Wednesday night slot four days later!
Rating: 84% - Must Watch This Friday night schedule is madness! Everything is out of whack, but we’re still here to give you what you need! Or at least what you want. Possibly what you’re only indifferent to, but can’t be bothered to find a better substitute. Hopefully, you’re not being forced to listen to this podcast at gunpoint, but we still appreciate the downloads regardless. There are some real clunkers in this week’s Dynamite, but in our book, any show with a segment devoted to The Wingme...
Rating: 82% - Must Watch It’s Friday and our internal clocks are aaaaall messed up! The post PPV Dynamite brings the heat (mostly) including a big name castoff from WWE, a big win for a very middling feud, and 1,500 Big Macs. What more could you ask for?
We did what most people do once they've been vaccinated near the end of a pandemic: drive an hour out of town to watch the PPV at a plush Cinemark and do a podcast on the way back! This episode was recorded on the drive from Long Beach to Hollywood (then a stop-off at Fatburger, and another loop through WeHo and back up Sunset and Hollywood Blvd. because there was JUST TOO MUCH WRASSLIN to cover!) If you like crystal clear audio, then definitely skip this one. But it does improve significantly a...
Rating: 83% - Must Watch It’s the go home show for Double or Nothing and we are crammed to the gills! World class competitors The Wingmen go up against some guy … Arby’s? Darpa? Whatevs. The Inner Circle preview Stadium Stampede to close the show and a whole heap of promos, run-ins, and the occasional Simpsons reference to keep it all fresh. Don’t forget, we’ll have a special On the Road podcast Monday morning and next week’s Dynamite is *also* Friday, so spend your Wednesday night with your lov...
