Episode description

Confidence is something you develop as you go through life and as you put yourself in new situations or new environments. When you see other runners looking incredibly strong. They had to work towards that goal. They invested more time and energy towards their sport. Yes it might be they have a advantage come from a sporting background, made a team, had great coaches… but they still had to work at it.

Like many aspects of athletic development, self-esteem is a product of two interacting forces often described as nature and nurture. A runner's biological strengths and weaknesses influences his or her development of self-esteem, but so too do their interactions with other runners and what training plans they where exposed to.

What is the main source of confidence?

This one I would want you to answer for yourself. Think back what was it a certain event a moment in time where you grew immensely in confidence. Wasn’t it something that was challenging maybe even a bit of fear involved?

The most powerful ones are usually the ones that accompany taking a risk. You find them when you step outside of your comfort zone in some way to achieve, acquire, or experience a new distance, a new course, a new trail.

  • Take action, this will Improve your competence
  • Fuels self belief
  • Boosts confidence
  • Which in turn motivates you to take more action

Proverbs 3:26

For the Lord will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being caught.
