Hey guys, this is Amy Linden. I started this podcast for you because I am here to help Empower you because you are enough. I am here to help you get to the next level in your career. And most of the times, it has everything to do with what you think about yourself. I am a booking coach celebrity booking coach 54 plus Network, series regulars, and Emmy winner. Image in Winter and thousands of people working around the globe, all because of this technique that I created, I really want to
help you. So I do believe that if you keep listening, you might pick up some gem that I am dropping down and it will change the course of your entire career. You guys are here because you're missing stuff. That's why you're here. You're like I'm missing something, I'm not booking because I'm missing something.
Well, you're missing stuff, the biggest thing you're missing is learning how to book, okay, and that's why you're here, you know, nothing infuriates me more with than when somebody says, you know, I just want to add one more thing to my arsenal of auditioning. I think that's a bunch of bullshit. When people come to see me, It come to see me because what the fuck they're doing isn't work.
It's just not working. So if you guys are looking to learn this technique to add one more thing to Your Arsenal, where to put my name on your resume, it's not going to work. I have people coming to me from Yale from Juilliard people that have studied with supposedly, the top teachers, all over the world and they still can't book a fucking job. What does that mean? That means it's not working.
By the time you get to me but it's time to stop the process and get into booking a job and getting on the map and getting out there and maybe getting your butt kicks a little bit. Stop with this Kumbaya everybody holding hands. Oh, I really loved what you did there. No, I love what you did there. You know what? Let's have coffee and talk about it. That's not the reality of the business especially if you do soap opera, I've done five soap operas, there's no rehearsal.
I even have a girl on Young and the Restless, and I think she went back, she left went back. She plays Lily on Young and the Restless Crystal Cleo 10 years, maybe 12 years on the show. Now she wrote to me as soon as she booked that Thank God for the Linden technique. She said because there's no rehearsal. No rehearsal they do it on one. Take your done. They do 30 40. 50 pages one day. Are you ready for that? That's why you're here.
You here to get ready to do, what you're supposed to do, which is do your dream, a lot of us suffer from anxiety, and fear. And we pick up energy in the room. Feel like people are judging us Well, they are. But why are we keeping them part
of our process? Where are you using a casting director to receive something from Will you know, they're not going to give you anything that's like being in a dysfunctional relationship with somebody that never returns your love because you go back and back and you stay in it. They are there to to discover you. Not be a great reader for you. They're not there to help you, they're there to find you. So we get mad, we get bad. And then you guys pick these readers that are so loud.
During yourself tapes, they're trying to act their ass off, they should be quiet. You know what, I have Tracy with her back towards me because I can't even look at her because I feel judgment. What do you think? I'd created this freaking technique for? I? Am you in every sense of the word, I pick up energy. I'm empathic I'll feel judgment even if she's not judging. I think she is.
And then God forbid, I have to shoot it a couple of times, because I'm not getting it right for me, then I feel guilty. Am I you then? I'm like, oh God, they're gonna think that I sucked. Like, I can't get it in first. You take some taking up their time. What do you think? None of that goes into your wreath, everything goes into your read. As an actor, you're supposed to be empathic. You're supposed to be feeling. You're supposed to be raw.
But how do we not pick up the stuff that's coming at us? Are they going to teach you that in seeing straight? And that's why you're here. You are here to finally work. So, after you do this technique, it's time to go out and try it. It's time to practice. I was obsessed with the Olympics, this time around. I watched everything swimming, gymnastics everything. And the biggest thing that I kept saying over and over and over again, was a practice
practice practice. How much do you actually practicing or you waiting for your audition to practice? Are you taking casting director workshops? Practice on them. Practice. And then another thing was precision. Are you doing yourself tapes and going? Yeah, those good. Okay, send it. You know. I'm done with this fucking material already but let's just send the damn thing. Are you recognizing yourself? I need you guys to be the best, the best, the best better than everybody.
Better than everybody and you can be if you just practice but but learn how to do the right homework and yeah you know I'm a tough coach. But I'm tough with love, at least. You're going to walk away and going oh now I know what they mean by by. You're too loud. You get it ever. Get that random fucking comment. You know what? You're too loud. Well, tell me how to fix it or, you know, you characters not popping.
Okay, tell me how to fix it. I mean, I can mean 20 other things that people tell you that I'm always fixing and I hear all the time. Oh, I don't want to be too much when you look at your life. Look at your life. Aren't you too much? Think about the last fight you got into? Was it, weren't you too much? Aren't we too much? Think about anything. That Viola Davis has ever done. Is she too much? Ryan Reynolds and his comedy is he too much Melissa McCarthy, is she too much? Jim Carrey.
Is he too much? Every Star Al Pacino is he too much. So, they're telling you it's too much, but what they forgot to tell you was that it wasn't grounded in truth. That's what they forgot to tell you but guess what? They don't have the information. So they just give you random freaking comments and you walk away going. Oh, I don't want to be too much and guess what? You just vanilla did everything and you took yourself out of the running for anything.
That is anything big. So then you're going to blend which is great. Blend be vanilla for commercials and co-stars that have don't even have a name. Like like nurse number three. Please blend don't stand out, but if you want to book those big opportunities that come your way, those leads. Stop fucking blending. Stand out, but stand out in truth. I have what is now 53, Network, series regulars, and a quarter of them have no other training other than this technique.
So, what does that tell you? I'm amazed to this. Visit is my technique that I did back in the 90s. when I was in Booking television actually it was really late 80s, early 90s but who's counting I've been out here for quite some time and if you look me up, I have old like a lot of fucking IMDb credits but who cares? Nobody cares. You know what they care about the care about what's in front of you right now. What is in front of you right now? What are you doing right now?
But that's what they care about. It's either your star in the name value or you're not. And when that crack of the door is open, you're going to kick it open. Kick it open with you. There's only one you Hey guys, thank you so much for listening. I so appreciate it.
