Episode description

The word “meaningless” is typically associated with some negative judgment. But when the Course uses that word, it literally means “without meaning”.

In fact, toward the end of this lesson, are these lines:

“What is meaningless is neither good nor bad. Why, then, should a meaningless world upset you? If you could accept the world as meaningless and let the truth be written upon it for you, it would make you indescribably happy.”

We get upset because of things going on in the world, other bodies, and our body.

But what we’re learning in this lesson is that the world is a smokescreen. Made by the ego to keep us rooted in the drama of the world.

When we can step back and do what the Course suggests of “letting truth be written upon the world” - instead of projecting our judgment onto the world - then we would become “indescribably happy.”

So the next time we find ourselves feeling any emotion other than total joy, we can recognize that we’re upset because we see a meaningless world. And now we can say to ourselves, “Help me to see this through the eyes of peace instead of pain.”
