Episode description

As defined in the Oxford dictionary, sustainability is the avoidance of the depletion of natural resources in order to maintain an ecological balance. Capitalism is an economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state. And consumerism is the protection or promotion of the interests of consumers. Seemingly disparate terms, the three are intertwined within both the financial system and the vast majority of society. In this episode of “Achona: Beyond The Articles,” Multimedia Editor Chloe Mintz is joined by her father, Eric Mintz, a portfolio manager administering small and mid-cap growth investments. The pair examine the inherent nature of sustainability in relation to the American economy.
