It really doesn't matter where you are in your life right now . What you're focusing on Today's episode is really going to peel back your layers and really remind you that anything really is possible , and so , without further ado , I do have Elizabeth here with us today . Elizabeth , welcome to the show .

Speaker 1

Thank you so much . I'm Elizabeth Ann Walker and it's great to be here with you , jess . I'm really excited for everyone who's listening to learn about how they can be more of them .

And this might be a weird concept , but I grew up in a space where I was allowed to be myself and , whilst I wasn't really everyone's cup of tea and I suffered for that , I didn't have any friends in high school because I just said what I thought , and you know , you're not allowed to do that in high school .

You're supposed to be nice to everyone and you're supposed to . You know , when they try clothes on , you're supposed to go yeah , that looks great , even when it doesn't . That wasn't me . I just said what I actually thought , and so I grew up in this place where there was freedom of speech , and then entered society where it's just a game .

It's not really freedom of speech because people put their own rules on it , right , and I want you to think about the words that you say to yourself and the filters that you're putting on that , based on the rules you've created for yourself or society . So let me give you an example of that . I was once in a space where I felt amazing .

I was a woman who knew what she wanted . I went after everything I want and I wanted and then I got married because I decided when I was five that I would get married by the time I was 21 or 22 . So I got engaged at 21 .

I got married when I was 22 and everything was going according to the plan until I realized that I was in a marriage with someone who didn't want to be nice to me , who didn't know how to be nice to me , and little by little it broke me down until I wasn't nice to me and I didn't say nice things about me and I didn't know who I was anymore .

And after 13 years of abuse , when I finally was rescued in a helicopter by the police off an island in the Whitsundays to get away , I broke down , my hair fell out , I lost 20 kilos and I ended up in this space of well , I don't know who I am .

And I remember a point in time where my mother said to me oh my goodness , it is so good to have the real you back . And I thought , well , where have I been for the last 13 years ? Like , why didn't you say something to me when you saw it happening ? What happened with that ?

And yet , even if she had have , I wouldn't have listened and I thought , wow , I created all these rules based on my experience rather than based in reality . And this is where those worlds of reality and fantasy get to combine right .

Reality and fantasy get to combine right Because what we're living as our reality may be very different to actual reality , even though we're experiencing it as reality . What most people tend to do is walk around in a fantasy land , and their fantasy land includes a whole lot of list of things that they have to get done . Their fantasy land includes the past .

Their fantasy land includes the past . Their fantasy land includes the future , and I want to bring this to you in the now , right now , there's only now , the past doesn't actually exist , because if we think about it , we're thinking about it from the now , we're not actually going to the past .

In fact , no one has ever been able to go to the past , nor has anyone been able to go to the future , apart from you know , in if you have a delorean and the lightning strikes at exactly the right time and if you're too young to know that reference , it's back to the future .

Um , here's the thing there's only now , and in the now there's only truth , and our truth is either filtered or unfiltered , and the reason we do that is based on the way our brain works . So what I do is I'm Australia's leading trainer in neuro-linguistic programming .

In fact , I'm a global leader in neuro-linguistic programming and I've spoken on stages with people like Tony Robbins , richard Branson and many , many more , and one of the things I know to be the absolute truth for me is that we all deserve to be happy , we all deserve to be wealthy and we all deserve to have a life that we're proud of , and it's , as you

see it . So wealth as you see it , success as you see it , happiness as you see it and that's different for everyone . One of the most wealthy times I experienced in my life is working in my garden . Absolutely love my garden . I love plants . I'm a plant rescuer , an avid plant rescuer . I jump on Facebook marketplace and anyone that's getting rid of plants .

I go and save them . Oh God , I need you in my life and I love that . All the plants have a story right , and I feel so wealthy when that's happening and I'm not spending a single cent . I'm literally just picking up these free plants .

Transformation Through NLP and Mindset Shift

So I learned this once I'd left my ex-husband and I didn't know who I was . I created who I was .

I created this woman who was working hard to support her children , who went to work every day , who worked double shifts when the kids were with their dad , who were you know who just became this masculine version of me and I was able to just get things done . I was able to make ends meet , I was able to make it work and eventually it became boring .

So I thought , well , maybe I need someone in my life , maybe I'll start dating again . And of course , I went through this phase of you know , I'll just date anyone and see what happens . Like a friend of mine said , you've got to go on a date with everyone who doesn't look like an ax murderer .

Okay , fine , I'll , I'll be open to that , I'll go on these dates . And for me , for me , a date was just , you know , going for dinner or them taking me somewhere fun . And eventually I got sick of that too and I thought , okay , I want to get serious about this .

So I wrote a tinder profile and it said if you can't handle me now , you won't handle me later . If you expect me to pay . You won't be able to afford me later . If you think dinner is interesting , you're boring , I'm not interested . If this feels like a challenge to you , go away . I want someone who's serious . And it was really fun .

And then I met the incredible Simon who's my current husband , and I met him and he was masculine . And guess what ? When you actually start dating someone who's masculine , you can't be masculine . And I was forced deeply into the feminine and , unfortunately for me , that meant that my body just completely broke down .

I ended up having 47 surgeries in a three-year period because I needed to surrender and I kept refusing to surrender . So the universe in its magical , delightful way , went if you're not going to surrender , I'm just going to make you so sick that you can't look after yourself and you're going to have to let him look after you . And so that's what happened .

I ended up in a wheelchair , unable to walk . They severed my femoral nerve during a surgery and I was completely disabled and I got to the point where I was like this isn't life . And how is it fair that I've given all my best years to someone who didn't look after me and now the worst version of me is there for someone who I really love .

This isn't fair . I can't do this . I want to die . So when , on a hunger strike , he noticed really quickly like I think , two meals in he noticed that I'd been hiding the food and it got to the point where I was like what are we going to do ?

Cause I really don't want to live like this , and I all I was doing was taking painkillers and going back to bed , going to the toilet , take painkillers , back to bed , and I thought there's something out there and I don't know what it is . And a friend invited me to Tony Robbins to Unleash the Power Within seminar . Think what you will about Tony Robbins .

That's not the point of this story . The point of this story is I went along in a wheelchair .

I sat in a room and I learned a whole lot of stuff about mindset and who I was , and I'd been a really positive person up until that point and I sat there and then they wheeled my wheelchair out to this file walking lane where we were going to walk across fire and I'm like you guys are crazy , I can't walk and this thing has rubber wheels .

What the hell is going on here ? Anyway , two people stood me up and they didn't keep holding on to me . I just walked across the fire , wow . And I got to the other end and I was like what ? I just walked and so I kept walking . I left my wheelchair there . I never went back in the wheelchair , I kept walking .

I went to my doctor and I said hey , look , what's happened now . Like this is impossible , I said , and you're fired because if you can't see that I'm actually walking right now , I don't actually want you to be looking after me . And I went on and created healing for myself and equally went on and went .

Well , what was that magic that was used in that seminar ? And it was the power of neurolinguistics , which is the way that we speak to ourselves in our mind . So a lot of people think about neurolinguistics and they're like okay , neuro , the brain language , the way that we speak , the way the programs happen in our brain .

But the majority of programs that we accept as adults are ones that we create for ourselves with the words that we speak about ourselves inside our head , not the things we say out loud . They're the ones we say in our head , and so I went about learning it .

I then realised that lots of people who'd learned it weren't applying it in a way that was really effective , and I knew that my background in nursing , midwifery and teaching medicine at Sydney Uni for many years would allow me to educate people in a way that was far more holistic and integrated , and so I set about becoming Australia's leading and one of the

world's leading NLP trainers . And it's very different the way we do it it's experiential , it's actually integrated . They're actually experiencing things in the moment and allowing themselves to change from the inside out rather than from the outside in , and that's the key to what I do

Creating Your Reality Through Thoughts

.

Speaker 3

Wow , I love that you're highlighting one change can happen at any point in your life , but you've got to be prepared to make it happen .

And you know your story highlights that you've been in places where one option could have been just to stay down , but the other option was to keep going , and I think this is a beautiful reminder to everybody listening to this . It doesn't matter what's going on in your life right now . You can change it .

There is another path available to you , but you've got to be the one to make it happen , and I love that your story highlighted that . I'd love for you to dive deeper into this phenomena that our outer world really is a representation of our inner world , and I know you mentioned just then the thoughts that are going on within our mind .

So not just what we're physically saying and verbally saying , but the language that we're using and the thoughts that we're having and , I guess , the consequences or the repercussions that they actually are having on our life , because I know for so many people life is very sheltered .

They think all of the struggle and the hardship that's happening out there is just happening out there and it's just how life is supposed to be . But what I love to talk about is that is all feedback to what's going on within your mind , within your , within your energetic being , um and , obviously , thoughts and feelings . I love your insights on all of that .

In just over one year , I went from being an unfulfilled lawyer craving more freedom to the owner of a six-figure business that now allows me to completely control my time , travel whenever I want and decide how much I get paid . I literally manifested that freedom I used to dream about , which is a very , very high value of mine .

And you may be thinking this took a lot of hard work , and while it did , I actually don't put my success down to just that .

Knowing how to reprogram my subconscious mind and use my subconscious mind was the key to it all , and when I experienced my first quantum leap , I knew more women had to know how to do it so that they could also live the life of their dreams .

So I created a blueprint which you can actually download for free right now when you get on the wait list for the Academy , which is a four month transformational program to get you the life that you want and become the woman you want to be , the woman who knows what she wants and she gets it .

So if you head to the show notes below , you'll see the link to download that ebook for free . I'm so excited for you to have your own success story and really honestly get the life that you're dreaming about , because if I can do it , so can you .

Speaker 1

Great . So I'm going to refer to an expert on this , who is Carl Jung , who was a psychiatrist . He was a Swiss psychiatrist and he lived from 1867 until 1961 . So he had a large lifespan that went across two different , very different centuries span that went across two different , very different centuries .

And he suggested a long time ago , in the early 1900s , that perception is projection . In other words , what we see in the world , rather than being something outside of ourselves , is the projection of us on the world . So we are creating our reality with every move we make .

Everything we say , everything we do , every move we make creates the world outside us Now , at its deepest level .

This would have us believing that if I'm experiencing things like murder , sexual assault , child abuse in my outer world , in , in other words , if I'm watching the news , if I'm seeing it you know , happen to a friend of mine , or if it's happening to me myself , then in some way I've created that .

And this is huge because people go well , I didn't create pedophilia , I didn't create , you did , and this , I know this is controversial and I want you to think about it like this . You have to ask what's another example of this ?

So let's take pedophilia , for an example , and for those of you that have been affected by this , I'm going to tell you my Instagram is going to be in the notes , and I know that Jess's is there as well , and you can reach out to either of us and we'll actually answer you if you need help with this , right .

But the thing is , if you've experienced pedophilia in your life , somewhere inside of you , you're hating on your inner child , right , because you might go . How are children getting hurt ? Because I'm an adult , they're getting hurt because you're not looking after that little girl or the little boy inside of you .

You're saying negative things about that version of you , that past version of you . You're actually not happy with who you are , what you look like , where you're at right now , and that is trauma happening on the inside that's being projected onto our world . One of the largest events of modern time that's happened was that pandemic that started in 2020 .

And what happened before that was a survey of many people through many countries of the world , where they identified that the major emotion that most people were feeling was fear . Now , isn't it funny that once we experience fear , we start projecting fear out and we end up with a pandemic that went to every single country , right ?

So that's what it looks like on a global scale , when we're all projecting the same thing . But what about simple things in our everyday life ? What about we've gone to work and we've had a really tough day at work and we come home and then our partner is just horrid to us and nothing we can do is right . Everything's wrong .

Well , have you ever stopped to think that ? Perhaps all day you've been saying I can't get anything right , I'm just keep getting it wrong , I'm not doing the right thing , I can't do this properly . You've pushed it out there into energy in the world and then you're going to get it back at you at some point .

So if you imagine we have a bubble around us , everything you send out hits the edge of the bubble and then is reflected back to you , and however you decide to be with you in your internal world is exactly what you're going to experience on your external world . And for those of you that are sitting there going , you don't understand .

You haven't been through trauma ? Yes , yes , I have . I've actually died three times in hospital and been revived . I've gone through my fair share of actual trauma , and the thing is where I'm at right now is bliss . It's happy , it's joyful . I get to help people every day , and if you had have said this to me 15 years ago , I would have laughed at you .

And so I get it . If you're sitting there going , what do you mean ? I create my whole experience . Yes , you're the creator . You're the one who is creating your world from your inner thoughts and feelings , from the ones that are so hidden that you may not even know they're there .

And this is where NLP comes into play , because , as a linguist , and especially as a neuro-linguistic trained person , the words that you use create everything that's happening to you , and so I want you to think about something simple like I can't , the mere concept of I can't . So someone says hey , do you want to climb a mountain with me ?

And you go no , I can't , I'm not fit enough . Straight away , we've put something in the future , we've put our past in the future , and when we put our past in the future , we can never actually live in the now , because we're constantly focused on the things that make us sad and the things that scare us in the future instead of experiencing the now .

The other thing is is with that language , the word can't is a negation . In other words , we're negating the fact that we can . So when we say I can't , what we're really saying is I know the process of not being able to do it .

And the thing is , if you know how to not do it , you must know how to do it , because you can't know that you can't do it until you can . And so when someone says to me I can't climb a mountain , it's like oh , so you know how to climb a mountain .

You're just saying you're not willing or prepared to put in the effort to be able to climb the mountain , and this has become an absolute problem in society . The simple language of I can't has created a whole group of people that truly believe that they're unable to , and they're actually creating it with their language .

When you are saying things inside yourself , like you know , you get in front of the mirror , and a lot of people have learned how to do affirmations right . So they get in , get in front of the mirror and they're like you're beautiful , you're beautiful , you are amazing , you're going to have an incredible day .

And I see that meme that's shared a lot on Instagram of the little girl going you know , you can rock this . You're amazing , right , and everyone shares it going . I wish I could wake up like this girl . The thing is , is that little girl ? When she's saying it , she means it .

The problem with adults is they sit there and they say it out loud , it comes out of their mouth , but inside their brain they're going eyebrows , sisters or twins , they're not quite even . Oh , yes , I'm beautiful , but look at that wrinkle just there . Yes , I'm beautiful , gee , are my teeth crooked ? And there's a whole other dialogue going on inside the mind .

That's never being spoken out loud , but that is programming us and that is creating the world outside us . And so when you look into stuff like that , it's actually neurolinguistics that can change your whole reality and change your life . Reprogram what you've previously had as programs , because some of them served you at a particular time .

It served me when I was sick to know that I couldn't walk , because every time I did I would pass out and hit my head .

So it was a great belief to believe I couldn't walk for a period of time , but once I wasn't passing out anymore , it was a stupid belief to have , and as soon as I got rid of it , I was able to walk despite having a severed femoral nerve , which should have , by rights , stopped me from walking . You know it .

It's an incredible thing when you start to live from beliefs that serve you rather than from beliefs that don't , because energy is , is in everything , especially emotion . So an emotion is just energy in motion , and if those emotions are negative , then the energy around you , what you create , your outside world , is also going to be negative .

If the energy coming out of you is more positive , then it's going to be positive outside . But wait , liz , I've had all this bad stuff happen . How can you possibly make me be positive ? That's toxic positivity . Yep , yep , it is . It's so toxic that it'll change your life . And isn't that what you want ?

Or do you have to keep a grip on the past so that you don't have to find out who you are , because at one time you were 10 and you believed that you were 10 , and it served you to believe that you were 10 . You could put all your fingers up when you showed people how old you were . It was really cool to be 10 . Some of you stayed there .

Some of you , when you're experiencing your deepest , darkest traumas , are still 10 . And if I asked you , in the moment of you having that experience , how old do you feel ?

You might say 10 or 6 or 5 or some other age than how old you are now , and that's just reflective of the timing of the programs that keep those emotions or that energy and motion in place . How can we disconnect that program that we're 10 and go okay , cool . Now we're 20 , 30 , 40 , 50 , however old you are and go okay .

Now I'm here and I've actually had this incredible life experience and I have way more strategies to manage this feeling than what I do as a 10 year old . How can we upgrade those strategies and allow you to recognize how far you've come ?

Speaker 3

I love what you're saying around the and I know this is big in the NLP world your identity equals your results and your experience and identity is obviously so layered .

It's your beliefs , it's your actions , it's the language that you're using , and I'd love for you to just like quickly mention I know you kind of did this stuff like how we are describing ourselves is who we are and it's what we actually create .

And I feel we live in a world now , especially in the realm of , say , business , where , in order to see growth , we're just constantly doing more and we think the action , part of the creation of our experiences , is it . And when we aren't seeing the change that we want , we think that the gap is because we're just not doing enough .

Meanwhile , we're walking around with this identity that would not create the financial abundance and the happiness and the aligned relationships that you're saying you want .

So I'd love for you to speak to the topic of , like , upgrading your identity first and making that your number one priority before you worry about what more you can do and the action you can take . Yeah , let's start there , then I'll move to my next question .

Speaker 1

Yeah , great

Unconscious Values and Authenticity for Success

. So what happens is that people think they know who they are and most of the time they have no idea . And the way that we find that out in NLP is we look at their values and a lot of people go I know my values . My values are love , abundance , beauty , and they'll give you all of these beautiful , positive words . But that's not your unconscious values .

That's only tapping into the conscious values . And when we tap into the unconscious mind and we see the unconscious values , some people value death , some people value poverty , some people value pain , and they wouldn't know it until you do a specific technique that , under like that , finds out what's underneath stuff right .

So what's in the unconscious mind that's being played out in the conscious , and one of the easiest ways to see this is through the language that people use and the actions that they take . So when we look at our values , we can actually see them in the behavior that comes out .

So there's a lot of people that tell me a lot of the time they want to be successful . They really want to be successful . But when you start asking them for what success is or how success feels for them or where they want to be successful .

But when you start asking them for what success is or how success feels for them , or where they want to go with success , their language gives them away . It's like I know you think you want to be successful but actually you're nowhere near ready to start this journey of success yet .

We have to work out who you are first , because real success comes from when you're comfortable with yourself and when you allow yourself to do the growth on yourself from the inside out right . And I'll give you an example of this . I was coaching a multi-millionaire yesterday and when I say yesterday , at the time of this , recording right .

So I was coaching this multi-millionaire . She's got an incredible business , she loves her business , she's got an incredible family , she loves her family , she's got a great house , she's got the investment properties , she's got the boat , she's got the whole thing . It's all great . And when I asked her what she wanted , she said I want to be successful .

And I said , okay , great . So you don't feel successful right now ? No , not yet . And I said so what is it ? Is it money or time that you're wanting ?

Because most when you're talking to multi-millionaires , it's usually one or the other and she's like , well , I guess it's time I'm not really sure if it's time or money and I said okay , I said what is successful to you , and she said I don't want to want for anything . And I was like this is a really good linguistic example .

I don't want to want for anything .

And the problem that happens when you start making lots of money is eventually you get to the point where you don't want anything and it's actually quite devastating because the human condition is to always want more , and when you don't know what you want because you can have anything you want , it actually becomes quite disconcerting .

And it's when you reach a certain level of values right , that this starts to happen , and it's a place where you have to then reignite who you are and all of the things that have got you to that place , which have been the doings and the actions .

No longer cut it , because it's like yeah , cool , so I'm rich , I've done all the stuff , like , but I don't feel good , right , and in the end it all comes down to how we feel , and the reason so many people experience so many problems is because so many people are unwilling to be themselves in their feelings related to traumas that they've experienced .

So someone experiences a trauma , they lock their heart in a little cage and they go okay , I don't trust anyone , I have to think . And they stop feeling . And they do this thing of thinking , thinking , thinking round and round in circles about everything .

Every decision takes forever , whereas if you're doing it , from feeling , you can intuitively feel whether this is right for you or wrong for you and you can take action straight away . And so then the action you're taking is more aligned .

So when someone says , hey , you need to take aligned action to be successful , yes , that's true , but you've got to do the step before that . And the step before that is who do you be ? Who are you ? What makes you tick ? What's actually in that heart ?

Can you open up the cage so that people can experience the real version of you , instead of the version of you that wears the mask of business owner , the mask of mother , the mask of whatever else you wear ? Who are you really ? And this came up for me really recently with this invention of the people pleaser , the anti-people pleaser movement .

So a whole lot of people going you're a people pleaser and that's bad . You shouldn't please people . What that's crazy . I love pleasing people . It actually makes me so joyful to please other people . I get happy from making other people happy , right , and I do it in a way that's not detrimental to me . So I'm not giving too .

I'm not doing it to get something other than joy . And yet I see people who are there at the beginning of their journey , who really enjoy pleasing people , and they take this advice from someone who's successful that says no more people pleasing . And then they end up in this space where they actually hate who they are and they hate what they're doing .

And it's like , if you're that person that has that heart that just wants to give , go , give , be that person . Stop letting other people choose your identity for you and actually be you , because what truly makes success and with all the people that I know , I've been on panels with elon musk .

I've been on panels with many , many great people , people in the world , and when I'm on those panels , the thing that makes every single one of us tick is our ability to know who we are and act from that Right , and people go . But how do you find your purpose ? So it's not about finding your purpose . You have to choose your purpose .

You have to choose it with volition . You have to go . This is what I want . And then you get the people who go but what if I don't want that in five years ? That's okay , like it's actually okay .

You know , one time I was a nurse and then I became a midwife and then I became an aromatherapist and then I did naturopathy and then I did a whole lot of weird spiritual healing stuff and then I taught medicine at Sydney Uni and then I became , you know , australia's leading NLP trainer and then I spoke on stages with some amazing people and 12 weeks ago I

became a grandmother . And all of those things have been changes along the way . That might have some people go oh , you're not really authentic , but I don't care what they say , because I've been authentic in every moment , just like every single one of your listeners is authentic in every moment , because whatever they're doing in the moment is them .

It's authentic , right , and so who you are , the identity of you , the real version , the version that some people have locked away , that's who we want to see and that's what makes you successful and that's what will bring abundance . Every time is when you can act from who that person is , without caring about what others think . Now it's in our human nature .

We have this beautiful bit in our brain that alerts us to danger . So it's in our human nature to worry about things . We're going to worry about stuff , we're going to think that things are bad , we're going to catastrophize things . That's just in our brain , because our brain is essentially an animalistic brain that's looking to protect us from danger .

So we're looking outside ourselves , always looking where's the danger ? Where's the danger ? Where's the danger ? We have to actually block that pattern . With who am I ? And the danger isn't going to kill me , the danger that we experience in today's world . A bear's not going to jump out of the woods and grab us . A lion's not chasing us , you know .

Okay , granted , there's snakes and spiders in Australia that might kill you , but generally speaking , they're not going to be right outside your front door . And so we're in this position where we get to be so excited about who we are that we get to experience joy the way that we want it . Right , not joy the way that someone else wants it .

This morning I'm wearing a pink jumper . I walked outside . This beautiful pink flower is flowering in my garden . I'm like , oh , this is so great . Look , we're matching . And the flower says back to me . Oh hi , I'm here and it's like , okay , some people would think that's crazy thinking .

That thinking made me so joyful this morning and it's not like I'm actually out there talking to the flower all day . I've still had a very functional day . I've done lots this morning and yet I've really thoroughly enjoyed that moment of communion with something so beautiful in nature . And that's who I am .

So for some people they wouldn't even have flowers in their garden because it'd be too much work for them . And that's cool . Success your way , identity , your way being who you really are is what's going to give you the experience of having a happy , successful life .

Speaker 3

And imagine how incredible people's lives will be would be if they removed what's right or wrong , what they should be doing , what they're doing , and just woke up every single day and asked the question of like , what do I want to do today , what feels good for me in the present moment , and then act according to that and remove , yeah , the shoulds and the

corrects and the rights and the wrongs and just like act from like , this just feels good and as you said , and then if it doesn't feel good tomorrow , you can change it up and that's the cool thing about life Like you actually get to steer this ship . And if more people gave themselves permission to be the captain , imagine how incredible their life would be .

Speaker 1

Imagine how incredible the world would be Like . The world would be a phenomenal place if people recognize they have choice . You know , I often talk to people who go I really hate my job , but I can't leave . It's like , yes , you can . What do you mean ? You can't leave ? I can't leave . Yeah , it's like , yes , you can . What do you mean ? You can't leave ?

I can't afford to pay the mortgage . So don't pay the mortgage . Sell the house . Do what makes you happy . You know there's this program that exists , particularly in Australia .

That is , you go to school , you go to university , you get married , you buy a house , you have a kid , you buy another house , you have another kid , you buy a boat , you go on an overseas right . It's this program that people are living in and , like for some people , they're completely happy with that and if that's you , go for it . You do you .

However , there are some people that really hate that program . They want to travel overseas before they finish university . They want to not even go back to university next year because it was so dumb and boring and not what they want . And it doesn't mean that it wasn't what they wanted when they first started . It just means that they've grown and changed .

They've allowed life's experiences to shape them , not define them , to shape them , and they're going with that beautiful moldable energy that we as a human spirit are . With that beautiful moldable energy that we as a human spirit are , and if we allow people to be themselves and to just be happy , well , there'd probably be a lot of things that wouldn't happen .

So it makes sense in some ways that the government wants to control things . And you know , keep you in a job , keep you in paying taxes , keep you thinking that you know school , uni , job , house is a good way to be , because it helps control society , because what you don't have to subscribe to that .

Yeah , you're a free thinker , you have a free mind and you get to open your mind to other ways of thinking because you might just find that you have a really incredible way for you . It might not suit the next person , but it might be great for you .

Speaker 3

And if it's for you , then you get to be happy and then you get to enjoy the now instead of focusing on the past and the future and it is unfortunate that we live in a world where there is this mold especially , as you mentioned , in Australia of going to uni , getting the good grades , getting that corporate job and living out that life , um , and it is

unfortunate that there's this feeling of being irresponsible but not choosing that path . I've felt that many times in my life .

But regardless of that , it's still our responsibility to make sure we're living this life and sure you might get pushed into the mold , but whether you stay in that mold or not is on you at the end of the day , and sometimes we need that little like slap on the face , like that little nudge , to say like this is actually all on you , whether you like your

life or not , whether you're happy or you're not , whether you have struggle or you don't , it all comes back to you and to some that could be a trigger , but to me , and I'm sure you would agree , that is so empowering because it means we have all the control . We actually Absolutely Like .

Speaker 1

Some people don't want to blame themselves because they feel like that would just be bad . But actually , if it's all our fault , if it's all our responsibility , then we have the ultimate power to be able to change it .

Speaker 3

Yeah , I want that . Yeah , amen to that . Yeah , before I let you go , I'd love for you to share because I know , as you've highlighted , you are the queen of NLP . I'd love for you to share why that technique is so powerful and maybe one exercise that you just love to guide your clients through that is so profound when it comes to change .

Speaker 1

Yeah , great . So the reason it's so powerful is because for a long time I believed a lot of what other people said about me . Right , and you know , I was in an abusive marriage for 13 years . I believed a lot of the stuff that was said to me , and even though I logically knew it wasn't true . So I knew it wasn't true , but I did that whole .

Maybe it is true . If it is true , what if I'm just delusional and I don't know who ? I am right and it was so painful , it was so painful . So the reason I love it so much is I look at other people who are existing , sometimes in a really reasonable life , you know , like they would say their life's not that bad , but there's just something missing .

There's that one thing that's missing . And so when those people come into the room , as soon as you fix that one thing , the amount of incredible things they do for themselves and others is exponential , and so the growth just keeps on growing .

Harnessing NLP for Personal Transformation

It's also something that we're all doing all the time . We're always neuro linguistically programming ourselves , so everyone's doing it , whether you like it or not . And so a lot of people go oh , nlp is bad , nlp is this , nlp is something else . Well , you're already doing it . You're just not trained in how to do it .

Well , yeah , so you're possibly doing it poorly . So that's the other reason . And one technique that I can give you is something that's very fun and you may or may not want to do it , so you have to get yourself in an absolutely ecstatic state , right ? So think about being the most excited you've ever been .

Now , it's not just a thought , it's a thought and an action . So if , when you're really excited , you're like , yeah , this is so great , right , you really get yourself into that absolute ecstatic state that is a natural state for you when something phenomenal happens , right ?

so nothing made up what you would naturally do if you were really excited and in that moment , when you're in that state , think about what's missing in that state that's normally present in your everyday life , and a lot of people will say things like okay , well , I'm not at work while I'm in that state , great .

So if you want to be more in that state , then get rid of work . Yeah . A lot of people would say well , I'm not worried about bills or money when I'm in that state Great , let's work out a way that you don't have to be worried about that anymore . Like , it's so simple and I'll give you one more . So that's one .

And some people will just go no , I can't do that , that's way too weird . Okay , the other one's really simple Draw a circle on the ground inside the circle . Put everything good that's ever happened to you just in your mind's eye . Just put it all into the circle and then step into the circle and see how you feel like it's so simple .

Speaker 3

I've done that one before and it actually is very impactful which again like just talking about it now you're like no , but doing that , I've done that before .

Speaker 1

So yeah , I used to teach . When I taught medicine at Sydney Uni , I used to teach my med students a technique that eventually got me in trouble with the dean of the faculty of medicine . So the faculty of medicine was a great faculty .

And then I started teaching there and my classes used to get 20% higher grades than every other class and they couldn't work out why . And they they started thinking I was teaching some weird stuff off the curriculum or I was giving them hints about what might be in the exams .

And they did an investigation and I said look , just come and follow me for a whole semester . Come and follow me and watch what I did . And one of the things I used to give the students is before they walked into the exam , they all had to stand with their hands on their hips and their legs wide apart , like Wonder Woman would right , even the guys .

Just do the Wonder Woman pose , just stand shoulders back , hands on your hips , legs wide apart , and tell yourself that you know it all . I'm the know-it-all Wonder Woman of the world , they used to say .

And then they'd walk into the exam and as long as they'd held that pose for more than 45 seconds , they would walk into the exam and get 25 better grades , yeah , wow . And when the dean found that out , they're like this is some mumbo jumbo . You're not allowed to do that anymore .

It's not fair that your classes are getting that and the other classes aren't . And so I just said well , why don't you just tell all the other lecturers to tell their teachers how to do this , like , tell their students how to do this . They're going to be medical students . They're looking after sick people . They need some strategies that make them feel good .

And no , that wasn't allowed and I had to stop doing it . And it's such a simple technique like this is the whole thing . Nlp is so simple and as long as we learn to use it the correct way , in a way that empowers us and empowers others , then we can actually change the world , which is really exciting , yeah , and it's things we can do daily .

Speaker 3

The world which is really exciting , and it's things we can do daily .

You know , of course , working with someone like you going to your seminars are profound and I honestly encourage everybody in their lifetime to do stuff like that , but we can just do it the moment we wake up we can start making changes , and I saw in one of your videos you were talking about the 4% club and I loved that because it's like change doesn't have

to be this significant , drastic change that takes years and years and years , like you could wake up tomorrow and choose to be someone different and if you can really master just embodying that new state , change can actually happen really fast there's only 4% difference between all of us genetically like between me and Elon Musk .

Speaker 1

There's only 4% difference between all of us genetically Like between me and Elon Musk . There's only 4% difference Between the guy on the street unable to talk and Elon Musk there's only 4% difference , like . All we have to change is 4% to have an extraordinarily different life . See , I'm a linguist and I can still muscle up my words and still enjoy it .

Try saying that . Extraordinarily different life . See , I'm a linguist and I can still muster up my words and still enjoy it . Try saying that . Extraordinarily different life . Extraordinarily different life . Yeah , that's a tongue tie . It's quite a tongue tie , right , and this is the thing . 4% . What can you do tomorrow ? That's 4% different .

Or even today , depending on what time you're listening to this . 4% does it mean waking up four minutes earlier ? Does it mean cleaning your teeth differently ? Does it mean making sure you did that skincare that you said you were going to do last week and the week before and the week before ?

Does it mean waking up on a Sunday and going for that walk that you keep saying I'll start next Monday for , like , it is so simple to start implementing these things on your own .

Speaker 3

Yeah , and it's so powerful . It's so powerful . That's so interesting , though , that 4% difference between Elon Musk and the guy in the street that has no money . Yeah , I love this . Well , I've loved this conversation . Thank you so much . We covered so much and , as I said , I really just wanted this episode to be an empowering episode for anybody .

That change can happen no matter where you are in life right now , no matter what is in front of you , and it all does start with you , and you even have some techniques there to literally make change happen from right now , like as soon as you get off this episode , let's go .

But I'd love to get you to share where they can come and find you and if they want to learn more about you , if you've got some seminars coming up on the Gold Coast , all of the things .
