This chapter, chapter 3, introduces the narrator, who explains the history of San Diego wine, going back to its founding missionary, Father Junipero Serra, and why grapes are suited to San Diego's climate.
These are the first two chapters of the novel "About That Wine I Gave You" read by the author, Craig Justice. Starting with a dedication and the Psalm of Paul (the winemaker), the novel opens at Karianne's planting party. The Genesis story in Chapter 2 is written in the style of biblical verse, and is a reflection on our historical relationship with the Grapevine.
