Pushkin Hay Slight Changers Maya here. I'm excited to share that next week we're coming back with season four of A Slight Change of Plans. Every week you'll hear an inspiring story of change with guests like Jody Patterson, whose son came out as transgender when he was just shy of three years old. And I looked into Penelope's eyes and Penelope said the most phenomenal words, Mama, everyone thinks I'm a girl and I'm not. I am a boy.
And Kate Bohler, a religious scholar whose own belief system was called into question when she was diagnosed with stage four cancer at age thirty five. I spent years studying people who believe that they deserve what they get, and I never once imagine myself to be that kind of person. And then when I could hear myself saying, but aren't I kind of a good person, it was like that bit was so deeply humbling, and I realized, like, oh, things,
things come apart. We'll also hear from Scott Manky, who is a contestant on the game show Jeopardy and was surprised when the audience reacted not just to his performance, but to who he was as a person. One of the first comments that I remember seeing was this person saying, I really like Scott's demeanor on the show. I didn't expect that reaction. It seemed to be like they liked who I was and they thought I'd seemed like a
nice person. And as always, we'll hear from experts on the science of change, like psychologist Ethan Cross, who teaches us how to manage our mental chatter, that inner voice in our heads that can sometimes drive us nuts. And psychologist i yell at Fishbock, who shares strategies to help us stay motivated as we pursue our goals and try and change our lives for the better. I'm Maya Schunker, and this is a Slight Change of Plans, a show about who we are and who we become in the
face of a big change. Subscribe to Pushkin Plus to hear the whole season, add free and get episodes a week early. You can find Pushkin Plus on the Slight Change of Plans show page, an Apple Podcasts, or at pushkin dot Fm.
