Stories of Jesus | The Great Affirmation
Slavery and the Scriptures
In our post-Christian society, many have a hard time trusting Scripture because of certain appearances that it permits evil practices. In Ephesians 6, Paul approaches the subject of slavery. What is he referring to? Is he condoning it?
Inextricably Linked & Transformed
We all are children to someone. Many of us are also fathers, mothers, or hope to be parents one day. In Christ, we are called to love our parents and children, yet we are not defined by them alone. As God renews us, we live into a new story where genuine love, forgiveness, obedience, and worship can transform generations.
To One Another
Context is critical as we see Paul unpack the revolutionary idea of 'submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ' in the context of marriage.
What Fills and Brings You Life?
What do we turn to when fears, troubles, and temptations come our way? Paul gives practical instruction for living your true self by being filled in the Spirit.
"Wake Up!"
There is nothing more jarring than a burst of light breaking through the dark. Their is no greater form of love than self-sacrifice. These realities are counter to the status-quo of our world. The Apostle Paul invites the Ephesians (and us) to walk in light and love in these ways. To follow Jesus beyond a world of darkness, and finding our identity in pleasing our own selfish desires. To have Christ's light shine on us and to imitate God in lovingly giving our lives that other might find life. A...
Honesty is More Than a Policy
Honesty is the bedrock of the Christian faith. Being honest with ourselves, God and others is the lifeblood of healthy relationships. Listen to this sermon to understand how this plays out.
Come to Me, Receive Life
Every human desires to be made new. This is the promise of the resurrection. Easter Sunday, 2017, we look at John 20 and the account of Jesus’ leading people into faith and lavishing them with the hope of the resurrection.
Connor's Story
Our friend Connor Gardner shares the story of what he has learned through God's faithfulness in his relationship with his family, and his life following Jesus.
Gifts
God offers each of us His grace to be our salvation and His power living through us. These gifts can transform our hearts, lives, community, and city. Too often we never use these gifts, or selfishly keep them to our self. Ephesians 4 tells us that God has made you to serve and equip others for service that builds Christ's kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Are you trusting God with the gifts you've been given? Are you sharing those gifts with your community and neighbors?
A Worthy Calling
What is your calling? Is it your job, career, or success? What if it is much deeper than that? Paul challenges the Ephesians to be humble, gentle, patient, and to bear with one another in love. To live a life worthy of the calling they have received from Jesus. To live into their new life in Him by pursuing unity and being peacemakers. Are you one with others? What keeps you from loving commitment to others? Where do you distance yourself out of fear of being hurt? Where do you choose selfishnes...
In To Maturity
Do you ever feel like your faith is immature? Believe it or not, the Apostle Paul did too at times. In Ephesians 3, we see a calling to a new life in Jesus that grows up in faith. A life of love that puts away being easily deceived, self-centered, and caring only about personal gain. Watch this sermon by Pastor Tim Gaydos to hear more about God's call for us all to grow in knowing who we are in Christ.
Experiencing Jesus
It’s one thing to know about Jesus in principle/theory but Paul prays in this passage that we would truly experience Jesus in our inner being made alive in Christ.
