Episode description

Welcome to Episode 3 of A Seat At The Table with Spare Ribs Club!

In this podcast series, creator of Spare Ribs Club Alex Holker talks to guests about their dream feminist dinner party. From their 3 feminist guests, the 3 tunes that will be on repeat all evening, and the 3 courses being served, this podcast brings together conversations around feminism, female friendship and food.

In this episode, Alex talks to London-based food writer, cook and recipe developer Louella Berryman. She’s worked in almost every part of the food and hospitality industry, from serving plates and pouring wine in some of London’s favourite spots, to food and drink feature writing, recipe developing and cooking behind the scenes to create beautifully photographed food for magazines. She hosts regular supper clubs with Spare Ribs Club, where she creates feasting menus based on the themes in the work of literature we’re discussing that month.

We discuss Louella's dream feminist dinner party, accompanied by culinary icons such as Julia Child and Asma Khan, as well as formidable screenwriter and actor Michaela Cole. We also discuss being a young woman in the food and hospitality industries, and how to combat imposter syndrome in that context.
