Professor Tom Lewis is a professor of English at Skidmore College, Saratoga Springs, New York, and the author of a number of books, including the subject of this masterclass, Divided Highways: The Interstate Highway System and the Transformation of American Life, which was made into an award-winning documentary.This book captivated me; it’s a fascinating, socio-historical look at the US interstate highway system, which Professor Lewis refers to as, arguably, America’s biggest franchise.
