Coming up, embassy staff told to leave Iran, bus crashes into a pub and a second day of union protests. I'm Katie Fuller with your lunchhime nine News podcast. Australian diplomats who have been told to leave Iran as the security situation deteriorates. Nine Federal Politics reporter Zach de Silva.

As Iran and Israel trade rocket fire, it's becoming increasingly difficult to contact people inside the Islamic Republic. Australian woman MJ has family in Iran, but hasn't heard from them for three days.

The Federal government has closed its Iranian embassy, telling diplomats and their families to leave the country. Officials are being stationed in neighboring Asbaijan to help people who want to escape. The Foreign Minister has also spoken with her US counterpart. The pair agreed to continue working on a path to peace while making sure Iran never develops a nuclear weapon. In Canberra, Zakasilva nine years.

President Donald Trump says he will decide within two weeks what course of action the United States may take on Iran. Nine US correspondent Jonathan Kursley.

America's commander in chief believes there is a substantial chance of negotiations with the Iranian regime on a nuclear deal, so he has decided to wait until deciding whether or not the US will enter the war between Israel and Iran. White House Press Secretary Caroline Levitt says the administration is firmly if the view Iran is close to having a nuclear weapon.

All they need is a decision from the Supreme Leader to do that, and it would take a couple of weeks to complete the production of that weapon.

An independent evaluation has found the federal government's social media age restrictions can be introduced in a private, robust, and effective way. The Age Assurance Technology Trial has spent recent months investigating ways to enforce the under sixteens ban. It found there's a plethora of options the government could use,

but no single solution that works in every scenario. Five senior New South Wales government staffers have failed to appear before a parliamentary inquiry into the Dural caravan plot, which was later revealed to be a criminal conjob. The inquiry is looking at what the state government knew and when before hate speech and protest laws passed Parliament. Value to appear without reasonable excuse can lead to an arrest warrant

being issued. Inquiry Chairman Rod Roberts says the committee will now consider further action.

For any witness not a member of Parliament, to decline to appear before a committee having been properly summoned to do so is an extremely serious matter. I am disappointed in the government's continued efforts to hinder and frustrate the work of this committee.

Eleven people have been assessed by paramedics after a bus crashed into a pub in Melbourne's southeast. People were trapped inside the venue at Malvin for a short time.
