As the US President's time frame for a seaspire between Iran and Israel officially begins, Donald Trump took to social media to declare the Middle Eastern powers had agreed to end hostilities, claiming
both sides came to him asking for peace. Israel has not publicly accepted the proposal. Iran's Foreign minister denies there's a deal, but says his country will stop its attacks if Israel also stops the idf IS reporting another barrage of missile attacks was launched by Iran after the deadline. The Prime Minister says Australia's terror threat level is not
being raised despite heightened tensions in the Middle East. Anthony Albanezi has told Sky News the threat level will remain at probable for now.
It is constantly monitored, but there's been no change in the national security alert. We continue to have our national security agencies to monitor the situation.
Australia's online watchdog is urging the federal government to include YouTube in its plans to ban children from social media. Children under sixteen will be blocked from many online platforms under new rules, but YouTube has gained an exemption arguing its educational benefits. EAS Safety Commissioner Julie inom Grant has told the National Press Club the platform was the most frequently cited platform in their research.
With almost four and ten children on reporting exposure retirement for content there. This also comes as The New York Times reported that YouTube surreptitiously ruled back its content moderation processes to keep more harmful content on its platform.
The Queensland government has delivered its first budget focused on driving down the cost of living for families. Among the big ticket items is a new one hundred dollars back to school boost to help cover the cost of primary school essentials. There's also a new home ownership equity scheme to reduce the deposit gap for buyers. The state's Treasurer, David Ganetski, says state debt will also trend down.
Today, I can advise the House that total state debt is now forecast to reach two hundred and five point seven billion at the end of the forward estimates in twenty eight twenty nine. Under labor, debt was forecast to reach two hundred and seventeen point eight billion in twenty seven twenty eight and was on a trajectory to balloon further to two hundred and fifty two billion in twenty eight twenty nine.
In New South Wales, housing supply and child protection are the centerpiece of the men's government's third state budget. On top of measures already announced, today's financial blueprint includes a new pre sale guarantee where the government will help developers secure finance for housing projects. One point two billion dollars has been set aside to reform out of home care
for children and boost the foster care allowance. The South Australian government says there are more than thirty buyers for the Wayala Steel Works. The steel works was placed into administration and GfG Alliance removed as its owners in February. The state's Premier, Peter Malanowski, says there's a long way to go before the site can be ready for sale by the middle of next year.
But to have had the interest that we've already had, for much of that interest to come from major global steelmakers, many of whom are getting together in a cresortia, it's actually really good news to ensure that we're on the right trajectory to set this place up for a long term future.
Judge presiding over Aaron Patterson's triple murder trial has instructed the jury not to let sympathy for her alleged victims' families cloud their judgment. Christopher Bill has also directed jury members to not let the unprecedented media attention surrounding the case influence them. A former married at First Sight groom has appeared in a Sydney court seeking protective orders against
his ex TV wife. Ryan Donnelly has filed an application for an AVO, claiming Jackie Burfoot's social media posts about him have been incessant, causing him emotional harm. Burfoot is yet to decide whether she'll fight the orders. When asked outside court about just how damaging the posts have been, Donnelly responded by saying, it's been a tough times, very hard.
To quantify that I can't put that into words only that emotionally and within my circles and everything else I'm affiliated with has been very difficult.
