It's nine O Gen one with Jenny Garth and Tory spelling.
Okay, here we are, another week, another episode.
You told me last week to not say that very sentence, and you were going to.
Give me a new word. Give me a list, give me you like list, Give me a list. Welcome back.
That sounds good for you. Go Hey guys, hey guys business.
I know I had to readdress that because I think we should just roll into it hot.
Like you know, we were just having the most fascinating conversation about mister Clean's magic sponge eraser. It was like Jenny fascinating, mm hmm.
What I want to say, Salary sucks?
Okay, loud and clear for everybody to hear. You got a problem with that?
Wow, she's fired up and not afraid of the comments this week? Okay, Okay, So you guys, this is season five, episode twenty. You gotta have heart? Do you nah? Overrated?
What?
Oh god?
This this one aired February eighth, You guys, nineteen ninety five again right on track with you know, I r L was it.
We're just so on point.
Wait, you're right, Okay, we watched I watched mine on Dvdame did say.
Game, And is that because of Jade? I would have just cut the performance.
Oh is that why? And every other one was.
So disappointed that I didn't get to see Jamie Walters sing. Yeah, ok oh, this will be the one where I get to see him sing.
I felt the same Jenny, I have the same thought, and I couldn't figure out, like, is Jade literally the only reason it's on DVD? I would have just cut the performance because I would have not watching it on a tiny screen in kind of bad quality. It was not my favorite, okay?
Synopsis. Professor Finley forces Kelly to make a massive decision about her future with Brandon. Donna gets suspicious when rey Go's missing thanks to shady Valerie Malone. Oh that's a bad name, Valerie Malone. She had it coming to her from the beginning. Poor thing a lot to overcome. Andrea meets Peter's chatty wife Steve Book's girl group Jade for the telethon, and Dylan reluctantly agrees to talk some sense into Kelly Taylor.
Well.
Directed by Gilbert M. Shilton, Written by Max Eisenberg. I'll say that again. Written by Max Eisenberg.
It's so juicy?
Who Dad? This is a good episode. It's Eisenberg. I don't know, not sure.
I hope none of you are going to be reflexive or negators about this episode, because, first of all, it was so good. What a good episode. Oh my god, my city bitty. I might as well watch it on my cell phone. My DVD thing was so small.
My daughter and her boyfriend were watching it with me, and she was like, when did the show get so soapy? I was like, just now, like.
SuDS it up, baby, listen. I usually watched the episode on my cell phone, so this was like huge for me. This was like a massive movie screen.
I can't believe you watch these episodes on your cell phone.
Yep, it's so good on my big screen. That's why I was a little sad. I don't know how you do that. Wait, Jenny, are we gonna go through it in order like you did last time?
What do you want? What do you guys want? What are the people?
Oh?
Have they commented?
Oh?
Has anyone said anything? If they like, like when we kind of go in order or off tangent or all the buff.
You would think at season five we would have this down you guys, But but we don't.
But why we're still We.
Like to like, yeah, we like to keep things fresh. You never know.
I like whatever you all want and is so good.
You want to talk about some trivial moments because this was the best episode ever and it's because we got to see your dad.
And it's sort of an iconic clip that I've seen.
Over and yes, talking about the cameo with Aaron Spelling and Chuck Rosen in the back of a limo. So excited to see him with Steve.
He thinks it's Jade's Lemo. He's looking opens up. Can I help you?
Oh my god? It was so given my pipe everything.
And I heard word that it was done in one take.
Well, hit, your dad's an actor. He knows what he's doing.
Does it make you happy to see that?
And remember God, I bet yeah, all the pipe.
Yeah, I was so when I saw him. I was so happy for you to be seeing him like that made me so happy and that.
Like you know, obviously I saw my dad get older, and I've seen photos of him younger, but that is how I remember him always.
Like the quintessential.
Yes.
Yeah, I was going to ask you that.
I was going to say, did your dad always look like that because that is in my mind he looked like that from when he was born, because it's just the image.
Almost kind of except you wore track suits a lot. Loved his blore tracksuits.
That's what I wear.
God yeah, mm hmm.
I love him even more for that.
Oh yeah, it's crazy, that's your dad. Like, that's guys you're.
Feel used to wear Fela. It's not easy to.
Me because you remind me so much of him, Like just like you're the way you over sometimes, like you know, and like, oh, I know you were going to say that that's so bizarre. Did you? Yeah, you just remind me so much, so many of his Yeah, and was attack you sure are? Okay? So also, as Amy mentioned, Jade was an actual girl group from the nineties. Yeah, and they had a big hit apparently. I didn't remember them though till this did Did you know me either?
Well?
I knew the name and I definitely knew that song.
And did they Was there another hit after this one?
Band?
Wonder if you no? They sort of were? They had a few.
Okay, Well, they were lovely and they were all fun and Steve loved them, so that was great. That was just great.
I don't remember working with them. We weren't there were we we were always there, even I was weren't there.
Then, Oh, this is a good one, Jim. They they are not hiding their feelings about Valerie anymore because she's moving out right, and he mentions as she's moving out, he said, he mentions Heidie Flies. Oh yeah, do you guys know who Heidi Flies? I mean, I know you two ladies know besides Kidie Flyeses Firs, I do. This isn't this isn't from the nineties.
Very prominent Hollywood madam.
Yes, also the sister of Mike Flyes who created The Bachelor.
Didn't know that.
I didn't know that.
So Heidie fly got arrested right because it was illegal, went to court and basically spilled the beans on all the Hollywood stars that she had.
That was riveting. Remember when that was going down, everybody was terrified their name was going to be on the list.
Wow, that was like, yeah, that was like a me too moment back then.
That was like yep, And they knew she was getting those high priced clients.
Charlie Sheen was a big one, right and now I.
Think she raises birds. But I don't want to be wrong about that, but.
That's a nice transition for her.
Yeah, I think she might. And she wanted to kind of.
What kind of birds have Let me make sure?
Let me make sure. And she went on to be on a few reality shows.
Yep, Wow, what kind of birds they meet? McCall's or finches?
I don't know.
In fact, I'm not going to rest until I know these informations.
Birds, birds, birds and interesting.
Well we'll come back to that.
Uh.
Nat also brings in a cultural reference Jim Jones. He says, is a cult leader who led his followers to commit mass suicide in nineteen seventy eight at a commune. And I guess he's comparing that to sort of what Brandon's telling him. And I love that scene with Nat actually where thank God for Nat. He basically gets it, you know, sets it in motion that somebody's got to help Kelly. Yeah, if it weren't for Matt, Mom's gone. She's not in the season apparently, but nobody's looking out for kat.
He really was always a father figure.
You guys, we have breaking news what right now? Yes, Heidi Flice raises mccaws. Wow, now not Hooker's no longer in the hooker business. She is now in the.
Bird business from Madam to McCaw's. That works a small lifetime movie. Let's produce it.
Okay, let's you want to get into the episode?
Sure?
Definitely?
All right, Well, what do you guys want to talk about it? Do you want to talk about it, you know, top to bottom or do you want to just jump around Amy style?
Maybe talk to bottom?
Okay, let's do it. You want to start on top to bottom. We start at the telethon and Brandon is trying to get a hold of Kelly. Oh yeah, he's trying.
She was really yeah, she's really kind of been sucked into this thing.
This is a telethon for the for the pediatric Heart Foundation of some kind. So that's a really admirable thing that everybody's come together to do.
You gotta have heartt of have it's.
Wait before that? Do we open on the scene with Ray and Donna?
Yeah, they're talking like as if he just played. But again we don't get to see him.
We don't see that I did put a little bit new there. Okay, because you guys are making out. Is this the opening scene? You guys are making out and then he wants you to spend the night, and then he says, come on, I know you want to How can I catch up when I'm this close? And I wrote it?
Wait, that's later, Am I going out of order?
Okay? Pardon me?
You is much much later because there's a lot of my opening scene. The opening scene is in the telethon and we open up on on Ray and Donna, and I feel like I have real mixed feelings about this relationship right now. I don't know about you, guys. I feel like it's a really sweet I want it to be a sweet love story, but it just something feels wrong yep. And I don't know what it is.
And it's not because you know, right, it's right.
And also, I love Donna. I'm a fan of the show. I love Donna. And I'm asking myself, why is she being written to be a pleaser, so supportive, so doting, like it's all about Ray And I'm looking at this as a beautiful, strong character and I'm thinking like, oh my god, look how this probably affected you as a young girl. Like this kind of writing and the way that they made Donna act, it feels like it gave you these weird messages. I don't know, because I know
that happened to me sometimes with my character. But I'm feeling like it's all Donna's fault right now.
I hear you very This was what nineteen ninety five, So I had already gone through relationships like this.
Yeah, you were.
You were okay playing this character because it was real. Yeah.
Ooh.
It just bugs me as like a protective like big to Donna and to you. Yeah, like it makes me feel like, oh, like that pisses me off.
It's writing of Donna's character didn't influence me. The toy of it all had already influenced me, and probably the writing.
Donna, they really give you not great boyfriends because David, you know what, it's a little bit like Donna's the virgin and she's not going to sleep with somebody till she marries them. And she keeps getting these guys that cheat on her.
Yeah, and it's me what if real life was just influencing that And my dad was like, oh, she's got this guy and it's terrible and I'm worried, and they were like, oh, great writing in I don't know.
I was oo on ray from the start of this episode, and I think Jenny you're right. It's like you want it to be this sweet love story, but they keep making him such an ass.
Like I get it that they're making out hot and heavy and he's like, okay, well why you know it's I get it. It's hard for him to like stop the momentum in that moment.
He's a guy.
Yeah, Well, couldn't Donna do quote other stuff? Yeah?
But eventually men want Okay, Yeah, I'm sure they do other stuff, right, but I don't.
Think Donna could do other stuff in that scene because I can't show any of it.
But we can't do it. Yeah, I'm sure we assume. I just.
I just didn't like how he's like, I know you want to, I can't stop when in this close I was just like.
But he does. I mean, good, good for him, I mean.
And then yeah, and then he's wearing your makeup, Like you know scenes you can tell like you have a lighter skin tone. I always noticed things like this lipstick or makeup on in the scenes. I don't he look like he had pale pale face for a second.
I think the character of Donna was very relatable, where the guy's reaction was written like by men on a TV show because I know plenty of virgins myself included that were virgins right along with Donna, And I never had one guy say anything like, oh, kum on, I knew you want to ever.
Right, it would be, but I want to it's hard to stop, but it would never be I know you want to, or.
Just it wasn't a big deal. Like, I don't know, I could be wrong. In college, I was y'all's age, and a lot of girls back then were not just like sleeping with college boys, So I don't I don't know. I thought I think Donna was pretty relatable and maybe their reaction wasn't. But like you know, people can tell me I'm wrong. This was just my experience and maybe that's why I thought he.
Was and lose my virginity in real life till I was eighteen, and like, I never had a guy pressure me, right, and all my friends like we're sleeping guys, and like I would date guys in high school and yeah there was never there was.
Other stuffy So maybe we're writing the guys wrong.
Maybe yes, I mean I just both of them before are still wrong to me.
Okay, So next is we go to the mansion where now we discover that Finley's got this mansion. We go right from there to this big old mansion and I was like, what house is this? And we see that they've taken it over and this is the headquarters for Finley's cult basically okay.
Right, right? So Brandon calls Kelly right and yes, and she says can you take a message? And right there Finley comes in with can you take the truth? I was like Jesus, I.
Was first refuddled, where am I? What mansion is this? I?
Where was it?
Well? And I wondered where did the money come from? And we later find out. I was like, how are they affording this thing?
He's got plans and he needs big spaces to hold all of his followers. Yes, he's really putting together something special up there on that hill.
I think did you catch Brandon also saying to the guy like hey, Chief, like, will you get her? I'm like, well, like you call everybody that isn't that Andre's name? I'm like, I thought we call her that because she's the editor and that's how she got the nickname.
And now he just yeah, but I started using chief for like.
Dude, yeah, yeah, I know, but it's what he called her like I wish he hadn't said it.
So my question in this area was, does Kelly know at this point that Brandon cheated on her or was with Emily when she came back to town. No, because she says something that makes me feel like she knows Orsert there. I don't know what it was, but it was in that phone call where she says she kind of calls him out and says, oh, I just don't know.
She's just referring like you were with Emily, like during fire, like we weren't there, you were someone or do you feel like she he Well, women's intuition's always right.
So you're right. It might be not that she thinks more. But she's still just really upset that he wasn't there. Yeah, fair when he said he would be.
Yeah, that could be true.
And so maybe she's working all this out in this in the New evolution, doing this like, you know, work on herself.
And when she says you're my own worst limitter, she's using Finley speak.
M hm. So a limitter is like somebody who doesn't believe in you or thinks you're only capable of certain things. Right, Maybe, Yeah, it's you limits you from your.
Keeps you small.
We should start using that word.
Yeah, somebody pleas to go through and write down all the finley terms.
Because they're kind of good.
So we go to the telethon. We're kind of there.
My notes say why is Brandon? Why are Brandon Donna kissing?
It's not yet. First he has to realize she's bailing, and then we set up the telethon.
Okay, you go pick it up for this part.
So simultaneously we realize that Brandon is calling Kelly from the telethon and we're kind of catching up about what is going on. They're raising money I think for pediatric hurt needs. Yeah, doctor Hagobian's there, and we're realizing, like, she's not coming, so he's totally been abandoned and there's some sort of a like a something he needs her.
For he kiss what is it?
He needs to kiss her.
Valentine, So we know he's now going to go and try, and.
So he recruits Donna. Her recruits Oh I like that. You.
Yeah. We don't quite get to the makeout of the Century where I was like, what is happening? But we realized this was supposed to be your thing, Kelly's thing, and she's bailing.
Oh for the sorority house. It was like a big event that had been playing.
We're kind of learning like, oh, Kelly's sort of shirking her responsibilities, but also like alienating herself from all the things that she had done previously.
Interesting and they kind of delate you.
Yes, and she has that hangs up on She says, I'm sorry to point you, and he's like, I'm not disappointed, and then hangs up and it was just like whoa. So then we realize he needs a girl, but it's he's got a thing for blondes because Claire is just not not going to work for him.
Well, I think it just was Claire. He didn't want to right, She's always going to be like, hey, what about me? And he's we get to it, but I.
Feel like it wouldn't have been. Well, there's two things going on. If he goes with Claire, that's kind of almost like cheating on Kelly in a way because Donna safe, but also I'm going to make out with your best friend but okay, cool.
I was like wtf, WTF. So it kind of cuts to suddenly this kissing and we don't really know what's happening, right, and there's sort of this bit going on with David and I was literally like.
What, so, tell us do you remember the the the these kissings.
Okay?
So I have a friend, my friend Ailey, and she is like a super fan of the show, and she told me once she was like, oh, oh my god, remember that kiss with Brandon? And I was like, falls never kissed Brandon on the show and she was like, uh, yeah, you did. What are you talking about? It was like the hottest kiss ever. It was intense. She sent me the clip and I was like, oh, shoot, didn't remember that one either. So that was okay. You know when you're with a virgin and there's just like a lot
of pent up stuff from both ends. That was like, oh, like a lot of pent up.
No, you nothing was pent up. You just had a making out in the bed scene with Ray. What does it take five minutes for you to get all built up again? I'm not going mad.
I'm talking about real life right now. That was a little I'm talking about real life right now. You guys aren't listening. Pent up marrying me?
You're pent up?
Got it, We're both pent up.
He's living vicariously through Donna.
I am Brandon aka Jason and Donna aka Tory.
We're pentas.
Hey, we got a moment here. I always wonder what that would be.
Like behind the scenes at this point.
Nah, okay, so not at this point talking about Donna, Brandon, Kelly, not the real life people.
I was like, that is an amazing kiss. But it seemed a little crazy. I get that it was sort of acting, but it was like it was out of context. It was weird.
It was out of context because Jason and I were both like, Okay, we have an opportunity here, Brandon.
Wouldn't the director be like, Okay, guys, that looked amazing, Let's do one where we're not quite so into it.
And then there's like snarky comments because Anna says like I'd be happy to fill in, which is like a bit flirty for her best friend's boyfriend. And then he says, you can do it for the rest of your life, like he's obviously all bitter, but he's not broken up with Kelly.
So it's at the hospital scene when they came to see Dylan and Donna was just like caressing Brandon's leg to consult. Do you remember this, you guys. And I was like, I was like, I called it out. I was like, that was a little like she's just like rubbing his leg. And I was like, there's moments, you guys if you look back where you're like, yeah, at much.
From from not just from you too. But that was across the board. We are all very very very very very very familiar with each other, and there were not a lot of boundaries.
And it crossed over into characters. Sometimes it would be like whoa, whoa, whoa, yeah, fair, let's move on.
Yes, are you going to go to the Welsh house now? Yep? Exactly right, Thank goodness, Okay, this is This is good because we talked last week week about how Jim clearly doesn't have good feelings for Val. We really see that in this scene because VAL's moving out now that she's so rich. I don't know how she's affording all this ship. But she has journey, it's already gone, her car, her yeah,
her clothes, her new hotel life. But he he does not like her, and he thinks that she is going to be back in two weeks weeks.
Right.
I felt like it was a very Aco taco scene, Like I felt so uncomfy. Yeah, yeah, he hates her.
He's like, she doesn't understand the value of anything.
Shedy, I've never seen like a parent's parents on a show like this be that like against one of the main people.
Like it just doesn't it's weird, it's so wrong. But they I'm telling you there's some bad story here, but willing to ever say it because they don't.
So it's like something it's fun to watch. I love watching Jim have like an attitude about something, getting his little harry chest all riled up.
Oh my god. You know he's like.
His hairs were like.
His alpha hairs, but he's finally in alpha because he's not real.
Spitter about her. You would think he'd be happy to get her out of the house.
I don't know, there's something hot about it.
Cindy's more worried Colin Dylan about it, but Jim is just done with Valerie.
Then we go to Ray's mom's house where she is so happy about her crews and she is living for Donna, loving Donna and really wants Ray to not screw this up.
Yeah.
Correct, And it's shocking in my opinion that she tells him to just go find it elsewhere.
Well, he he You know, it was nice the way he was kind of talking to his mom. I felt like that was a good thing. And he tells her about his sexual frustration and she does. She tells him go find it somewhere else, but don't but be careful about it. Be discreet, discreet and safe, which is like like maybe.
Not finding one of the friend group, like maybe someone else.
But okay, thank you toy exactly.
Yeah. At first I was like, Okay, this is good sound advice from a mom. And then all of a sudden, I was like, whoa, I don't like that.
Well the mom should have said be super happy for what you have and wait wait yeah, it's not going to kill you, right, just be patient. You don't like the mom basically tells him to go cheat on her. I was like, missus.
Plan like that, Yeah, but that's kind of like on par for her.
That's kind of yeah. I do have one scene right before that that I just want to make note of because it's important. It's where Nat and Brandon talk about cults and that Susie French with the buzz cut her sister was in a cult, and he kind of starts to indicate to Brandon this is not good.
So I just wanted to Yeah, he's like the first red flag, like for Brandon to be like, wait, I really maybe you need to do something about this.
Yeah, yeah, really yes.
Yeah, And that's where I was like, thank God for Nat.
Yeah totally, and that is making it all personal and it's like take that out of it. Something's wrong, which good.
Okay. So then we get a glimpse into Valeries beautiful new hotel digs yep. Have you ever seen an uglier hotel room?
What is the Bellami Hotel?
Does it pretend? It's kind of the famous pretend hotel where Jack mchaela.
Yeah, yeah that that It looks very familiar.
Oh I thought it was for some reason. I thought Jack lived at the Bellage.
Why does Dylan go there to visit her?
Why is he wearing a suit?
Because it's the new him. I can't stand his wardrobe this season and it gets worse. It's gonna keep going. It's very mature, I know, and I don't want it.
I just was so frustrated by the fact that the money does not add up unless she's regularly working for Jonesy. The money does not add up.
And is done trying to help her or is he trying to insult her?
Maybe a little bit of both.
Like I don't get his motives. I don't get her motives.
They just talk from the book of weird sayings. Don't you to ruin this for me and get so far out there that you can't find your way back? Like it's just like, what are these people?
Yeah, it's confusing. Oh, but then we go back to the new evolution.
Oh and Brandon's there, uh huh. And then and Finley calls Kelly a tease, which I.
Was like, what for not being honest with Brandon?
Finally sucks too. Oh yeah, and you're really throwing the lingo out. You're being a negator, Brandon, And like he's trying, and she's just very sucked in, and he sort of tries to acknowledge her like post traumatic stress, which I thought was kind of ahead of its time. Then I sort of realized that, and then she just.
Is like, yeah, I just don't I just don't like it that she's there by herself, she has no support from Donna or Andrea or can you pushed them away? Yeah? It just feels the storyline is not feeling good.
I have a question though, Like Donna, yeah, you pushed her away, but like, would she just go away?
Not really?
No, No, I mean they have a separate relationship. That's kind of hmm. She's in baby, in marriage and cheating land and so you know.
But but if your best friend was like all of a sudden, m i A all the time, not coming through her commitments, not treating her boyfriend who she loves well, her best friend would be like, hey, what's going on, or let's hang out or you know, try to be more connected with her to try to find out what's going on.
Yeah, I think that's a miss.
Yes, I agree, I agree with you. Yeah, she would be kind of there with Brandon. It wouldn't be taking this so lightly.
Unless it was a phone call maybe, And like Ray was playing in the background, so they had to cut that. I don't know. Donn is like, I'd like to see you. Where are you? So they just cut the whole scene. I don't know.
I thought she was going to break up with him, but this is where he says, I love you, You're my best friend, and she doesn't break up with.
Him, right. I thought that scene was so I was captivated by that scene because I didn't know what was going to happen at the end of it for once, and I felt like that was some of my favorite acting that I've seen Jason or Brandon or whatever do. He just felt so genuine and like he was really in love with this girl, h and he was. He wanted to put it all on the line, and she you can tell she's so in love with him too, but she's just caught up in this situation. But she can't.
You're right, she couldn't break it off. That is just so good.
But I'm really hung up on the fact that you said that you didn't know what was going to happen at the end of the scene for once.
Sorry, I got to go back to that.
Good call, Good call. I pretty much.
Never watching this for the first time. Yeah, that scene was really good, which is why later in the episode I sort of was like, what's happening, But we'll get to that because this scene was very real. Crazy see that he's not abusive, he's very supportive. He's even though she's hurting him, he's so loving and like, I'll leave it that's what you want.
But I'm mature for a guy. In the twenties.
Yeah, and he's really handling it well point and somehow he convinces her to leave with him. Yeah, back to.
Real seems normal, yea. Yeah, back at that they're posing in the heart and the whole thing.
Yeah. I was crushing on Brandon in that.
Yeah.
But first we have what I put called craziest scene of the episode, Andrea and Jesse fighting and bumping into Peter and his wife, and I was just like, oh my god.
And then they go have there. Then they want to go hang out. They go to the movie together.
Yeah, they're all sitting at a table, I mean, the whole thing. And then and is it called a furtive glance? Andrea and Peter are exchanging a furtive glances? I was that, doesn't that mean it's sort of like what I think it's called a furtive glance, which is like would have I think if you r t I V It's like, I think that's the right word. That the right word furtive attempting to avoid notice or attention, typically because of guilt or belief that discovery would lead to trouble. Secretive.
WHOA, right they had that look the face was WHOA?
That was awesome.
That hole to do just had me shook because.
Are they going to be swingers?
And then we get the call back later and then the hands on the table and they touched the hands they can't.
And then and the wife is kind of fun.
Oh no, she's not.
Do you think if the wife wasn't so chatty, the four of them would have all hooked up. I don't know.
I also think that's a possibility that that could happen. But she, I could just see her husband is like, shut the you know what. Yeah, it was talking for just one second.
She's obviously like in the fashion industry or something, and she's real spouty about all the things. I don't know. Jesse seemed to be enjoying it, and then Andrea.
Was just like Jenny given, Yeah, I think some swapping coming up.
But important note is if you remember what Andrea says to Jesse the movie she wanted to see. That's why the phone call later from Peter is like, because he refers to a scene in the movie she wanted to see as opposed to or maybe the movie they're seeing. They had that conversation.
Yes, sorry, rock movie.
So if I can remember this, but I'm messing it up. When Andrea and Jesse are fighting, they're sort of talking about they were gonna go see Rocky, but instead they're seeing the movie you know whatever, some lovey movie and the movie what's whatever they're seeing? I can't remember. I have to like, I don't remember what it's called. That's when Peter has the fantasy of them. It's from the movie Andrea wanted, which I think is the one maybe they end up seeing as opposed to what Jesse wanted
to see. There's all kind of like signs of like, oh, Peter's really like gets.
Her wait a movie if fred is Stare and Ginger.
Rogers, Oh yes, yes, yes.
He's fair to remember. No, that wasn't it.
Wait what I think?
You're all close? You're close? Vor you got it like it was all that kind of jazz.
But I feel like I know why they're they're linked together. It's because they have the same exact hair. Dude, did you guys notice what I kept cutting back and forth and like pausing it and be like his hair looks exactly like her hair. This is why they love each other. Same color, same poof Go back to the telephone for
a second. Okay, did you put see the part where David is on stage and he's introducing or thanking the comedian the yes, did you feel like his hair and was like way too low on her to be like I.
Wasn't looking at his hand. I missed that and I live for that kind of stuff. I was two sideways on Claire's.
Pants, but we were talking about handsy. He was being handy with his handsy.
Ah, her pants.
Claire's pants were like which pants which part? Black shiny shiny, shiny, shiny leathery leggings like like like a yellow umbrella coat in black, remember the old just like if you were wearing like oh, they were like a very y yes.
I was like, ain't nothing wrong with a little latex.
Before we move on to I think it was creepy the whole like Jesse Andrea Peter the wife Adrian. I was like, this is crazy.
I'd like something interesting to have happened there, but I don't think anything.
What are you talking about? The call at the end, he's all flirty with her and she's all into it.
I would like a little bit of like, you know, the whole drama with Amy Roeback Nandrew Shoe, you know, how they're they swapped. Basically, I want to see some of that action.
I wouldn't mind seeing that, but it's not gonna happen, is it.
Yeah, that's too too busy. You're too busy talking about what the freak is val doing making the moves on Ray? What is that motive? What is this about? Just to break up Donna and Ray? What is it? Because she's broken?
Yes, so she wants to break them up because it's just just fun for her.
Yeah, that's all.
I don't think there's anything else.
I spent my entire shower this morning thinking about Valerie and her motives.
Well that's creepy.
Well yeah, I don't know what to say about that.
It's like burns with me because I got so many comments being like you don't like Tiffany, and I'm like, I love Tiffany, but Valerie.
Sucks and I don't know it does don't.
See that first of all. But when she turned on the lights of the truck, I was like, that's actually evil, Like what is she doing? I was like, she sucks? Then she fully it's not even like oh they had an attraction, Like.
Maybe she's just saying do you want to go you know what, full.
After him to be mean. She is doing it to be mean.
I'll tell you what though, he just really hopped in that truck that's a little too fast for me.
Well just get it somewhere else. So he's like terrible too.
I also thought it was weird that he says, I'll call you later. Why why are you gonna call her later? What? And he says it multiple.
Times, but Donna sees them having their furtive looks. Re furtive looks.
It looks it was just really good, mean a Valerie.
What didn't you expect?
I wanted to call therapists and be like, what is her deal? And it's because I this is what I've come up with, Tory, Jenny, you tell me if I'm right. Okay, she doesn't believe she's worthy of her own love. She's so broken that that's why she takes Dylan, who was like basically with someone else. Now she's going after it because it's like she doesn't really feel worthy of like her own right relations.
Just back in the day at one point when her and Jim had a fling, he just didn't make her feel worthy. So now it's just it's repeating over and over until she feels worthy again.
It's just she is a messy, messy character. It's just so mean. It's very dark what she does. And then the whole like three hundred dollars like now she's just.
Flex Oh that's gross.
Oh she's so sad inside. I can't stand it.
I know she took the little Virgin's boyfriend.
Yeah, and then the next morning, Donna calls Ray's house and Ray's mom covers for him and says he, uh, he had already left for the morning.
And also Ray sucks. He sucks.
Yeah, they just sucks.
Because why her. He can have any girl he wants, So like Valerie's doing it to be mean. She doesn't feel worthy, okay, and she's just mean. It's just plain and simple, cut and dry.
She's hot though, like she's hot.
She's hot.
Ray could pick another girl, so that that's more calculated, not calculated, it's just.
It's more not thought out. It's more like impetuous. So but I have a need, let me fulfill it.
But be a little smart. If he wants to keep Donna, he should be a little smarter and just go get some two bit hooker from Heidi Flies. There you go, now those are expensive. He couldn't afford it because his mom. It's brew it with one tea because his mom couldn't afford too. Definitely can't afford Heidi flies.
How about he just waits for Donna.
Yeah, he loves her, he loves he loves her.
If he loves her, his mama, his mama told him, like what he.
Can just he he's broken too, totally, Yeah, these are two broken people. It was.
It definitely stuck with me. I was like, I'm not.
Oh, clearly if you're thinking about it in your shower.
I watched it yesterday. I watched him yesterday, and it was still with me this morning. And I also was like just so torn because I don't I don't like it. That being said, do I like it on the show? Is also what I was analyzing, Like when people tell me like, oh I love Valerie, Okay, do you actually love Valerie or do you enjoy watching her antics?
Because there is a difference. Yeah, well here, let me really break this down for you. The only reason like Ray, I think Ray would have picked somebody else. The only reason he did go with Valerie is well, that's boring. If we see him and a coach star guest star that goes away. We need to have two main characters together, so it's just the writers. It's it's simple.
Gray's fall, it's Lucas she's defending.
Of course.
Did you think how cute Brandon looked when he was wrapped in the blanket though, and you and Donna was talking to him in the hallway?
But is it that cold?
It must have been.
I just thought it was cute, Like it looks very horrible. It should have been a BFF blanket.
But yeah, so he's wearing the blanket, then I have a flag on the play.
Okay, it was a little unhinged that he went blanket.
Her being gone to him just let ten Cray busting in.
It was like, how did you know? She just wasn't getting coffee? Like he just went full tilt nuts.
I kind of liked it, but it didn't feel very characteristic for Brandon, like he would have been a little bit more together. Let's see, let's see how this is playing out before.
Huge chops in this one.
He did and it was an entrance.
What an entrance and yet awkward that Finley is giving coaching to you while I'm yeah, while Kelly's talking to him very bizarre.
And telling her what to do.
We loved Gil Shilton, we loved him, but the director, the director, sorry, but it's clear from different things like the kiss, like the scene with Brandon.
That he's just like, do whatever you guys want.
What you guys want. I'm not directing this.
Yeah, I'll just be over here.
I'll just do you know what I mean.
He's like, we still, we really did need somebody to he.
Just wrangleds that didn't quite make sit work right.
It's so true. What an what a good call out. That's really true.
But we loved him.
He was he was our friend. So this is a scene where Kelly breaks up with Brandon in front of everybody, and that was rough. I didn't like watching that, I know, but there's that they're broken up.
I guess yeah, I mean it was rough everyone. A couple of questions too, for you guys before this, logistically and financially, nothing makes sense because how Valerie is paying for all these things, and how clear went to the beach apartment and was going to shower and be back on stage at the peach Pit in fifteen.
I was like, I mean, they lost us when they lived at the beach and they get like, it's come on the beach.
To Beverly Hills at best I minutes.
You guys have to let this stuff go because there is to.
Pick on Wilshire and they're in Santa Monica and it's a straight shot to the peak.
About it, I was like, he's going to be thinking about the hitter shower tomorrow.
I was like, I literally wrote on my notes.
We think about me in the shower tomorrow. I'm a shallow.
Steve.
Also, can we call out very minor in these last few episodes? I had a little more in this one.
Do you think he was fired up about that?
I don't know, because he got the scene with Aaron your dad, so that was legit. But he three or four tiny little moments in this.
Yeah, it makes me nervous. My PTSD is flaring up.
You know what I'm talking about?
Oh my god, I'm breaking out nip.
B H night onto and out that day. Is that what you're talking about? No number.
And that?
Remember that all of it.
Screen and then we sort of have the performance by Jade. Okay, well yeah, I was like I could have cut that to get it on my big screen. No problem. Same. Yeah, I didn't need it me either.
But this is where we see Donna confront Ray is about why is part what what where were you last night? And wait? Why was your truck parked outside all night? I thought she had a little bit too much information for the little information she actually had.
What.
No, she saw his truck was there when she went to leave, correct, but.
Like a mom oh there he goes in his truck or he's gone, Like I don't know, I don't know. She's jumping to conclusions.
Or did she know? And she was just leading the witness.
Leading the witness maybe so oh I love that tactic.
Yeah, maybe, because she's the best one.
And then we see Brandon go and ask Dylan to help him with Kelly.
Who could possibly get through to her? Who do? Like immediately you're like, who could it could be?
Oh? Her act she's still in love with cool let me go there.
Yeah, great idea. Let me let me bring him into this.
Also those two.
Because he knows, he knows that year we'll live with Dylan. So correct.
They are not friends. They are not friends. They're rude to each other.
Yeah. I was just mad in this episode about the way they're letting Donna be be done wrong like this in the ease and the level of fake that I get watching from val like it just gives me, like it takes away my hope in all sisterhood and women for women, like it just really rocks me on a deep level of like, don't trust women because they're like this.
Well, she's not their friend. But Valerie is not their friend.
No, she's not. Well, she does try to be their friends, she wants.
To be their friend, but she's not a friend. She's really evil.
But this is actually very real though, because this does exist. While there is sisterhood and there is empowerment and women's stick, there.
Are people that are this manipulative and fake.
But there are not. All women are great, they're just not.
What does the word maniacal mean? That's the word that keeps coming in my head.
Maniacal.
She's so planned, it's calculated, It's yeah, but I think maniacal is more like manic.
Maniacal exhibiting extreme, wild or violent behavior. Magantic, that's not what it is, Okay. What is the right word to describe Valerie?
Militious?
A compulsive, she has like behavioral disorder, she has like some need to lie.
Yeah, but then you're writing it off like we can be like, oh, she has something, so do you know what I mean? What if she can some people? What if she's just a bad prad.
To the bone, She's bad to the bone. Yeah.
Now I am torn in the sense that I am hate watching Valerie. I'm enjoying how terrible she is.
I don't, I'm not. I'm kind of like it's so much, it's so good.
You don't like her, like right, like Jenny knowing you, you're more like bothered by it.
I'm bothered by it, like how could somebody be this calculated and manipulative and fake?
Where I'm like, she sucks. I can't wait to see what she does next week.
Same, Yeah, she sucks.
I think because I love all the the main characters so much, and at this point we've all seen their flaws, we all know what their weakness is there, and they're what they're dealing with as humans, and we still love them because there's something about each of these characters that no matter how far they go off the deepen or what, like, We're still gonna love David after he has this drug thing. We're still gonna love Kelly after she great gets out
of the cult. But there's nothing redeeming whatsoever in any fiber of this character.
Yeah, good right, So perhaps it's planned that way, yes, but that is that is an absolute departure from what the show was originally about.
Well, and in this very episode, Andrea is essentially.
Well at the midpoint, doing.
The same thing as Valerie being a cheater. Right now, Valerie's We're still okay with her, but I'm sort of like, I love her. Why is she doing this?
David's drug issue?
He cheated on Donna and we still we still.
Love him, Yeah, and we've forgiven him, and she's letting him date her friend. It's very strange.
So either this is this is either the departure and this is where it just started to get really soapy and they used started using devices like this, you want to say, to manipulate the audience. No, I'm not gonna say that. That's not yet. Or it's a miss in that they didn't develop this character well enough to give her enough complexity for the audience to love to hate her. But you know, love to hate her.
But I wonder if it was purpose. Yeah, I don't know.
I don't know, either way it works. But it's just like when you're looking at it and you're looking at the show as a whole, and here we are halfway through the run of the show.
Yeah, you know, David and Andrea and et cetera, all y'all can be redeemed, where it's harder to redeem Valerie because it's just.
And I don't think it's just Valerie moving forward. I think it's like there are a bunch of new characters that are going to start to come on, and yeah, you kind of care about them, but you don't really care about them like you do the main you know, core og cast.
There's nothing like the OG that's okay.
Well, which is interesting because in Gray's Anatomy, Yeah, there are new characters that I care about as much as I cared about the original characters.
It's the writing. It's the writing, it's the character. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think there were there started to become a lot of moving parts on the show, so many storylines and so many things that they were trying to do that I feel like maybe they started to you know, I'm still in it.
It has not jumped at the shark ye anyway, I'm still completely in because essentially we're only missing one of the core characters at this point, Jess Brenda. We're getting these randos, but like I'm still fully in.
Yeah, I mean, it's just weird because this is a cast member.
Now.
This isn't like a guest star that comes in like Ariel right, who we hate her but she goes away in the next lesson. This is somebody that we see week after week after week doing making these horrible choices and doing these terrible things to the people that we love. And it's just really hard to like, I just am having trouble understanding why they're doing this to me o villain.
We now have a villain on this show where people made mistakes before, but none of the characters were a villain.
And that for me, is where the show it's split. It's splitting for sure, in just like what the show is and the and the message of it.
But what if, like take her out of it, it couldn't have gone on the way it was going, because why not?
It was going great? It was, but there was no reason to bring in.
So you have to change things up sometimes and change art.
I understand, but what but like I said before, like why not have it just be a guest star that's there for three episodes, or I feel like by including this villain into the main cast the opening credits, no offense against Tiffany whatsoever. This has nothing to do with my feelings about anything real. This is just about me watching, Like, why are they asking me as a as a fan of the show, super fan of the show. Yes, I'm
a super fan of the show. Why are they asking me to accept this girl into my opening credits of the show, and like, pretend like she's one of the gang, but then watch her do these evil, devious things. She's everybody that I.
Like, I'm going to tell you the reason right now, because it historically notoriously worked for every spelling.
Exactly like this is the Carrington whatever, Donna.
Right, Amanda, this is it worked and it worked every time. So at this point he's like, and it was.
Kind of what your dad did to reject inject a boost into a show that was struggling because Dynasty Joan Collins was not in the first season basically correct, and it was not doing you know what it eventually became until he popped her in same thing with Melrose Place. What's interesting here though, is you're at the height of ra But maybe just him knowing his what he had done in the past, he just went with that formula, even though it wasn't to like boost the ratings. He
was just like, Okay, I lost a character. I'm going to insert a villain, a villain ish right.
If Brenda hadn't left, maybe this wouldn't have happened. Maybe a villain wouldn't have been inserted in season five. We don't know, we don't know, We'll never know.
Never know. It just doesn't feel like the show to me, I mean the show that I love, and I think that that's like part of like, you know, the demise that the beginning of the turn. Yeah, yeah, because it does turn at some point does and things kind of fall apart jump.
By seven, we're kind of jumping jumping the shark. I think. I think through six we're still sort of like doing pretty good. But then around so I think who leaves first? Luke? Oh, I can't remember. That starts to get like I think it was Brandon Jason leaves first. I can't remember. But that's yeah, I'm still in it for now, but I'm not.
Yeah, all that said, I still love the show. I do enjoy the what Valerie's doing mixing things up, but there's something deep inside of me that doesn't feel comfy with it. You know.
Yeah, that's a good word to say.
But I'm not giving up on this show. No, it's just getting good. It's getting all like it's juicy Bruin, storm of Bruin, It's.
Juicy with Kelly, even though I'm like sick of it. Yeah, Finley's a freak, but I'm like, I like it. Valerie's a nightmare, but I like it. And then I can't help it. But the Andrea Peter thing is like so messed up, and yet I'm like Dame nipping my tea. Give me more, I.
Know, but I feel bad for Jesse.
Good you're supposed to yeah, perfect, well, well that person well written.
We're doing good. And that's that's an episode. Yeah.
The next episode one stormy Weather.
It's gonna be a good one. And we can watch Stormy Weather on Paramount Plus.
Okay, good in the back of the closet.
I can go back and watching it on my phone, like I enjoyed. Thank you.
Oh this is so good. I feel much better what this out? Oh? Ten ten me too. I'm on the ten train.
Every time. That good. That makes me so happy. Yeah.
So uh, let's see what happens next week.
I love you guys.
Bye,
