It's nine with Jenny Garth and Tory Spelling. Hey guys, we're back with the Kelly Taylor Deep Dive Part two. Our listeners have had some amazing questions so far, so I'm really excited to hear what is in store for today. Here we go. Hello, Hi, Hi, how are you guys? Good? Sorry we made you wait? Oh my gosh, no, you are totally fine. This is amazing. I would wait all day for Bev Hills. Thank you. How are you today, Jenny? I'm great. It's so fun to get to connect with everybody.
I'm learning a lot about Kelly. I'm sure you are you as a big fan of nine O two one lum, so thank you for having me on today. So I guess do I just like kind of you can start tell me what you want to tell me? What if
the floor is yours? Okay? Um? So I guess one of my first questions is, uh, just kind of you know Kelly Taylor you in the nineties, Beth Hills, Um, what was the biggest, like coolest thing that happened to you during that time, like that you got because of the show, or maybe that you got experience that you wouldn't have otherwise good one. Oh I got to travel. I got to travel like like a rock star, Like who gets to travel like that? You know, Yeah it was insane. Um when I went to Israel, we were
on this amazing tour. I was in Bethlehem on Christmas Eve, like, oh who all these things? Yeah, I went to Japan and you know, toured Japan, went to Italy, toured Italy. Um all because of nine to two went out. Okay, very that was probably stand out like some of my most favorite favorite times. And I got to kiss Steven Tyler on the cheek, so okay, like I'm a prom or like on around the world. I never I think I was just presenting him an award. Sometime I just remember, yeah,
oh hey that is so cool. Also, like what it was your favorite time of filming beth Hills, Like did you like the more west Beverly area or like the Alpha olya. I actually liked the high school years a little bit more than the cold years right now, but I'm only in season four, so maybe it's gonna change, maybe it's gonna get a little better. I don't know, but yeah, I love the early nine o two one No, okay, I love the early nine O two one too, but I watched them all a million times, so have like,
what's been your favorite episode that you've rewatched so far? Oh? Good question? Who can remember them all? There's four seasons from Donna Martin gradually, like I've said, Um, I've said at one point this was my favorite episode, and I have no idea which one that was. We allays roll back the tape so I can find out. Is when
you guys hate that episode? Oh yeah, and then I forget about it, but I and it's just all kind of MUSHes together in one big love puddle of everything, you know, Like I don't love it, I don't hate it, I just love it, right, Yes, What about like your love interest during that time, do you have a favorite one? I know Kelly went through a view I think during you know, early on it was definitely Dylan um, because yeah, I just love working with him. Um. But then moving
into this series, like I don't even remember. Somebody just told me one of my love interests real life name was Dalton James. Showed me a picture of him, but it didn't ring a bell, like there you go. One of my personal favorites for Kelly was Steve I do love Kelly and Steve super together, but Steve was one of my favorite I'm going my Peach pitch shirt for you today. Yes, I also have Donna Martin graduates too, so I'm fullbo Hills. I love that was iconic. The
graduates so good. I's so funny. I only think of Kelly with Steve, even though we don't really know it. Dylan and Brandon, it's like there's a bunch more but ye kind of But I don't hear that very often about that. I don't hear that Hillary very often night that their favorite was Steve. Like if that's you're like in a small group, and I like it because you make me think how much I love their relationship together too, even that we never even really saw them going out.
I know, but Steve just like always have love for Kelly. He's for night and shining armor. And I think even though Kelly kept pushing him away, she secretly loved him too. I know, what if, what if Kelly would be up with Steve. That was such a good sliding doors to see, Like why that Ben because probably quite happy? Um, I would think so, although like you ended up like his little storyline was cute too, So it worked out and we all loved Dylan. You know, we gotta love our Dylan.
So I was listening to one of your previous episodes about how you were talking about nineties con and Amanda Bynes is coming so and you said that you have not fingers in wrapping What I like about you. Also love that show and previously and was Perry guest guard on it? You were, they were on it. Well, that was so much fun. We had the best time making that show. And yeah, I have a very special place in my heart for Amanda and I cannot wait to feast my eyes on her and just give her the
biggest hug. I can't wait. But I hope it all happens the way I imagine it in my head. Oh, I'm sure. Well, I love the Magestu is so talented. You guys were so great on that show, so funny, and I believe it just came out on HBO Max too. Yeah, it's on HBO Max. Who knew? Yeah, you get eight dollars and twenty two cents for that, you know, I don't. I'm just happy that people get to see it because
that show was on. What I like about You was on the w B. Yeah, yeah, you got work with the Frog Remever it was before it was c W Oh yeah yeah, I think so, yeah it was, or maybe you were there during the when it switched. But but so not a lot of people knew about it when it was actually on, which is why I probably only lasted for four seasons. But it was so good, like when my daughters watched it back and I get sucked in watching it and I just think it's a
lot of fun. Oh, I love it. I was like, I have been looking for it forever, and finally one day my sister is just like, What I Like about You is streaming now. I'm just like, oh my gosh, yeah, I love it. So have you watched those episodes, like, you know, you haven't really watched the bed Hills ones. Have you watched What I Like About You? Nope, nope, I didn't. Haven't. Gonna have to do a podcast about it. Is there anything you were ever on that You're like,
you know what? I love watching that, like a movie or like a Christmas movie. I've loved well, I have seen parts of What I Like About You, and I love watching it because I love doing comedy and I like I just I love laughing and and and seeing, like I remember finding such a place of freedom doing that comedy, like in in my acting like it because it wasn't natural for me to do comedy. I had to learn how to do it. And once I felt safe and I felt like it was going well, I
really loved it. So I I like watching what I like about you? Okay, So would rewatch series with Amanda? Yeah, yeah, that's been kind of major. Yeah, that would be is so awesome. I guess I do have one more question, um, and one of the podcasts you were, just like Kelly used to do Donna Dirty. So objectively speaking, are you more a team Kelly or team Donna? Well? What in what? Like? What what do you mean? Like in what instance? Just like you were a new watcher today, I would be
I would honestly, I like Donna a lot. I don't think I would have been a Donna fanum, just because she's so sweet and I've never had a big eye thinking between Kelly and Donna. No, no, they content you're saying like maybe when she wasn't a good friend to her, like she didn't give her enough right or like you know, just picking kind of like, you know, there's Brenda, Donna, Kelly, who would new More talk to and today? Yeah, I think Donna, But it's just because I know Tor and
I love her. I don't know. I just love her big eyes and her innocence is so cute. That's a good question. Who would I want to be friends with the most? Yes, I mean we all know. I'm probably going Kelly. I'm going to be friends with Kelly and Donna. Definitely Kelly. I think Kelly to Kelly would be fine. Yes, the little party girl over there, I guess you m Donna had wanted the role of Kelly Taylor. Do you think if she had gotten that role, would you guys
have the same friendship you have today? Well? No, because I wouldn't have been there. I wouldn't had a job. So I'm pretty glad she didn't get it. That would be so weird if like if it was switched, if you were Donna and she was Kelly, that'd be I don't think they would have bought me as a virgin like that would No, I'm not that good and kind of like Donna's always the do gooder and like making peace with everybody. It's really tories. It's Yeah, that was amazing.
I love that so much. And do you think like if Beverly Hills as well or have been as iconic as it was, I don't. I think that it would have probably gotten lost in the shuffle. There's just so much,
so many shows out there now. And but because it was so synonymous with you know, the nineties and Beverly Hills and and the first show for teens to really express themselves or be seen or heard, I feel like it just it couldn't have come at a different time and had the success that it's having the longevity that it's had, right, absolutely, Okay, yeah, alright, thank you, thank you so much. Thank you. I appreciated so much. This was amazing. Um. I love the show. Always will be
a fan. I'm going to add my T shirt collection. Okay, good, Thank you so much. Jenny. I hope you have fun at Nineties Con and give Amanda big hug, which is one of my favors as well. I will, Okay, all right, thank you guys so much. Kristen's Next, Jenny, Kristen's next. I love the questions I start thinking about you know that nine O two one to like reboot. I mean, I know you're on a few episodes. Tip, it's pretty
sucked into that at the time. Which one that you know, not yours, but the one that was called nine O two one zero or whatever with with the other cast. Yeah, like with the Matt Lantern. Okay, yeah, you like that one too. I didn't hate it. Hello, Hi, Hi, how are you? I'm good? How are you good? Is it weird? Because it's like if I could tell my twelve year old self that I would be doing this one day? Where are you so cute? I'm in Texas? I know. I forgot to ask everybody where they were other than
the guy where in Texas? I'm in Frisco, which is like a little bit north of Dallas. I like that area. It's like hill country, right, Um? Unfortunately, no, No, we're yeah, like concrete jungle here. What's hill country mean? Like, it's not flat? Is this hill? It's hill and there's lots of you know, plants and trees and bushes that'd be beautiful. That's like San Antonio and Austin. Yeah, okay, well, hi, what do you ask me? Right? Um? Okay, First of all,
how did lou handle it? Whenever you started doing most of your scenes with Jason. Oh, you see, I don't know. I I think it was I think he was okay with it, honestly, because he was on too like something else. Like I think his character got wrapped. I'm sure. I have no idea. I don't know. I think it maybe was it Rebecca gay Heart. No, not yet. Oh he got he got distracted by some other gal and you know, he didn't really care. Okay, I think he went to
Valerie after that. But yeah, it was so weird. Yeah remember, Oh my gosh, you're gonna get weird. Yeah, it is um Okay, what was your like hardest scene to film? Do you remember that? No? I know that that, Like the really heavy emotional scenes were really difficult for me because it was a really light set and everybody there was always some you know, fun and we're all young and everybody's having a good time. And to so to get to those dark places that I had too for
Kelly was really challenging. I had to like lock myself in my dressing room and just listen to depressing music and really be sad because in kind of that way, like I have to really like submersed myself in it, and um, yeah, so I think all the trauma and drama that she went through, we're definitely the hardest. There's some stuff coming up in season nine that I'm sure you don't remember, but I'm curious when we get there, how you got to that place to deal with it.
I don't want to ruin it for you because I know you don't remember. You can't ruin it. I mean, if you it's not like you're going to ruin it. I'm trying to remember, is it? I there? Is it at the store when she's attacked, Yes, but like before that in the alley, what God, it's so hard as a viewer to watch and like, you did it so great, and so I'm just curious how you got to that place to be able to do that, because for me watching the show, you never really had that was like
I was shocked that they went there. Where do they go? The funniest part is I want to be like Christen in two years when we get there, it's like literally left to talk to you again. As we got it's gonna be like, I don't know, we'll have to talk to you again. I know what she's talking ab out, but I don't have to refresh my memory too, But I don't remember the alley right now, but I definitely remember.
I've done so many like movies of the week and like different tragic stories that they get almost together in there, and I can't remember who was what and when. This is much more a movie of a week scene. Okay, yeah, for sure it was your favorite season, Kristen, Do you have a favorite season? Um? My favorite season is probably season three, just because that's when I was really young whenever I started watching it. Yeah, you know, how old were you would you watch the show? I started watching
it when I was nine years old. My god, it was a very big source of contention and family, your parents. I'm very sorry. Well, I started watching it young, and Kelly and Dylan were like my first couple that I ever really like, I fell in love with, and so so season three was like very my favorite, just to see how all of that happened, we taught about things. I think that's because it's like, you know, how like you think about Luke and Laura, do you remember them
from General Hospital and how they were so iconic. It's like great for that certain age, Kelly and Dylan or Brenda and Dylan whoever would be the first sort of like TV couple where you're like, yeah, invested in it? Yeah, Laura, Yeah, it lasted a long time. I don't think anybody's ever like even come close to being a special but very big. I get it. But it's like Carrie and Big and Carrie and Aid, and there's just like iconic TV couples Jonian Tray, Mister and Missus Roper. Oh my gosh, they're
so fun. Thank you, like yeah, thank you for coming coming on the show at us and giving us some of your insights. Thank you for having me. I've top five memories ever. I'm so happy to be a part of it. I really am. And I'm sorry to your parents for teaching you things. Really it makes some kind of stories now, Yeah, all right, Yeah, it's a great day. Thank you, Thank you, Bye bye bye. Hi. Hi, we have another color. Yeah, this is our last caller. Hi. Hi,
how are you guys? I'm so excited to meet you. What's your name? Where are you? My name's Adra and I'm from West Virginia. I'm actually um. This is my second time on the UM call. I did the ask Donna all about or ask Tori yell about Donna show, like, yeah, we're going to do another deep dive into Donna again too. Oh well, thank you for coming back for me. Well yeah, thanks for asking me. And I'm excited because Amy wasn't on the last one either, so um, I could didn't
eat both of you, guys, So thank you. If guys could be sisters, you and Amy, look at you? Thank you? Okay, Nicety, Well, I mean I'm probably as big of a fan as Amy, so we also have that in common, like sisters right there? And I what do you? What's what do you want to ask me? Is there? What do you? Yeah? I have I have a few questions. Um. I mean, first
of all, like big fan of the show. I think I think I was like eleven or twelve when the show came out, but I watched it all the way through, so I would have been about thirteen fourteen when the whole Brenda Dylan um Kelly thing happened. What did your thirteen year old self think about that? Well? I was always team Brenda, but I always loved Kelly, if that makes sense. Yeah, Kelly was one of Kelly was one of my favorite characters. But I always wanted Dylan and
Brenda to be together. But at the same time, I also wanted Kelly and Brenda. You know why it was that? Do you know what it was? Was it that kind of drew you to Dylan and Brenda. I think it's probably just like how it started out and then I don't know, I actually thought about that today, Like my upbringing is probably a little bit like similar to Brenda's. Like my parents have been married for like forty seven years, like you know, like we moved around some so like
I was never like more the Kelly. I was more the Brenda, like you know, not like like trying to find my place kind of like thing. But I'm like that with every show, like once I get something like um in my head that I liked, and it's like, oh, I eat them to be together like until the end. If that makes sense. So you didn't you didn't hate Kelly because of no gosh, No, Kelly was actually like one of my favorite characters. I just wanted Brenda to end up with Dylan, and then I wanted Kelly to
end up with Brandon. That's so somewhat reasonable, actually, even though like right now I don't feel that way. I wouldn't I kind of. Yeah, I'm not mad about that either. I might feel the same way like I Sorr, I think they would have been a great like in law duo. Yeah, that'd also like one of my best friends from high school married my brothers, so like I'm living that reality of like having my best friend like in my family. So it just makes sense. I love that. That sounds
so fun. Well, that was kind of one of my questions though, is what, like you think what you would
have wanted like to be the end for Kelly. Would would it have been Dylan or would it have been I know you get that a lot, but yeah, I felt like, uh, it's hard because I haven't watched the Brandon stuff back yet from the podcast, so I don't really know if I could answer that question completely because I'm so, you know, familiar now in a different way with Kelly's relationship with Dylan, and I didn't like them together a few weeks ago, but right now, I think
Amy said this before, I like Kelly and Dylan, and I like that where their relationship is at with each other, they seem really easy and comfortable and kind with one another at the moment, and so I'm liking that. I don't think it's gonna last. So I'm pretty sure they are not meant to be. They're just their flames together were just too hot. They probably disburnt each other, you know. Yeah, I mean if when you get there, I mean, obviously you'll see. I feel like Brandon was more like stable
in a sense. But I'm so curious, like how did the writers get Kelly together with Brandon. I can't imagine how this is going up, but we'll be It'll be a nice surprise for you. I've watched the show several several times over um admittedly, and now that the podcast is up, I am like following along and you know, watching the episodes again. Um. So it it is fun, and it's different as an adult because you know, forty
two now. So the people that I would pick, you know, like in my younger years, of course Dylan, like of course the Bad Boys, and then as you're more established, you're like, okay, Brandon has like a bit better moral, so like, maybe let's go with that pendiful. Yeah, I probably also picked the Bad Boys all of mine, um and all of that relationships. So you know, you get to a place where you make smarter choices that funny, and I don't need to like sidetrack us. But have
you guys watched that show sex Life? It's really like a good sort of soapy. It's a good show. I watched. I watched a few episodes of it, but I haven't
watched it. I don't know. I didn't like, Yeah, the characters are all sort of I like the show, but the characters are all flawed and unlikable, whereas in nine two and it's like you kind of like everybody, yeah of the forecasts, like you have your moments, but like at the end of the day, you're sort of like, I like all these people unlikable, they're all redeemed, they're
all even though yeah, even though they're flawed. That I think that was one of the most significant things that I remember, just from a production side of it, and with Aaron and Chuck and and Darren everybody, that they were so adamant that these characters be likable and at the end of the day we had to still feel for them and like them and go on that journey with them and make their mistakes with them, but still
like them. And I think that they did such at my job of that even David I'm likes such a dufist right now, but I start, yes, right, yes, Like I think he just needs to get rid of that beret right now. Maybe when we get rid of the beret and we'll go back to like some sort of
normal person. Oh my god, I was watching that the other day thinking to myself, like, did they just like make that beret go with like every personality and then like when he gets clean again, then like the beret is gonna go help so I help both have it Like when you watch it back, everyone's cool, so you're like, David's such a dorksometimes. And then I mean it's just like the intensity of him like blaming Donna or their last sexual relationship, of all of his problems, which you know,
in attics that could be kind of typical. You know, I work, I work in social services, Like that could be typical of the gas lighting. But it's just it's very intense, it is. You're right, Um, but I didn't kind of have a fun question. Um, so if the show were to ever come back, which you know, I
know is a big hif. I've you know, obviously we've been listening to the show and heard about um, your crush I guess on mister Walsh, how would you feel if the show came back on and Kelly and mister Walsh we're having a relationship, And it just intensified the Brenda Kelly once again. She was after Brenda's dad. Oh my god, you've a sick mind. There's something going on with you. I was just trying to think of someone like nobody else. Gosh, you guys talk about him on
ida podcast. We saved you for last Wait in the in the I think it's in the episode that we're going to talk about next week. He looks so cute. Yeah, it's because you really see see the hair. You see the hair. I don't get it personally, I don't get it. So it's okay, it's just the hairy chest thing. It's not impossible. People wait date people that much. Younger people date people. Mean. It happens over time. So he plays he was thirty. He's in his sixties now seventies, and
Kelly's in her fifties. No lties like, yeah, that could happen. It could happen. I'm not I'm gonna write that down. It's a possible storyline. And Michael Douglas or like thirty years. Yeah, when they call them like May to December or whatever. I like, I'm liking where this is going. I like it for a story. I mean, I just feel like
it's the only way that you could pass divorced. How could I go after Brandon's dad though, it's just so gross and weird and for me, if they're married still and you're having an affair, I didn't take it to that level, to level that would really seal everybody of hating Kelly places. But they could have gotten divorced like that wouldn't be unheard of. They could have gotten divorce or no, she's diseased, like I know. I was about to say that. Then I felt terrible. I'm glad you
said it. I got to write all these ideas down. I know we need to do this. I was so, I was so, I mean, such a fan of the show. I watched Beverly Hills nine or two A no. And then I watched pH nine or two A no. And then I watched UM watched that other one nine two one other one. I was talking about. I think Jenny, I think Jenny and Tory hate it, but I know, but I didn't hate it. It I never watched it, the one with the younger kids. I don't know that lantern. Yeah,
I did not like it, but I was on it. Yeah. Yeah, the two seasons, two seasons, I think that I don't know, I don't know. It was only three episodes in my mind, but apparently it was a lot more than that. Yeah, it was. It was. It was strange for like to see Kelly in that because it was you know, more about like still her and like her friends and stuff like that. But um, so I didn't watch it as much, but I was. I was excited for the season two of um I get I don't remember what, yes, bh,
just to see where the characters were. And then unfortunately, like didn't I know that would have been continue with that because we were going to go into the making of actual reboots, so we would have the we would have been Kelly, we would have been Brenda. Yeah, done all the character like the next Yeah, I want the next one to be your Kelly again. Yeah. If I get a vote, yeah, well you get a vote. Everybody
gets a vote. I vote the same as Amy. But most of the time when it like when Amy gets really excited, like on like when she's like I love this and it's you guys are like what I'm like, I'm with Amy. I loved I loved all of them. I know when they give it too, I'm always like fung with them. The loveest I've ever given one is like a seven. Sometimes I do that just to get a reaction out of you. I'm like, how do you even say that? Like, are you talking about? This was
the best thing that ever happened to me? Like what are you talking about? Uh? There was an episode we're talking about Brandon's um. He was like selling his baseball cards or something um to make when he was like in his gamebling thing. I could message some petty and I didn't. Not one ever got it. They used to have nine O two one h trading cards. Yeah, yeah, and I had. I had all of them. I can remember when I was like eleven or twelve, like go into the grocery store with my parents, and I'd be
like that that's what I would get like on this. Yeah, you were the perfect age for that kind of thing, whereas I was like older, you know, so because I was sixteen seventeen, So it's like I was that just experiencing it slightly differently. Yeah, you know what I mean. It's like to over the playing cards, but I was so hooked in. I'm like, did you have the did you have the action figures? I didn't. I don't think I had. I don't think that. I don't think I
ever had any like paraphernalia. It is not the real I couldn't know merchan Remember like my grand parents trunk like that, I like put stuff in and had like all the nine where's your trunk? You gotta find that. I don't haven't my parents. My family moved around a lot when I was younger, so I think it got lost. Yeah, not kind of. I'm not one of those people that holds onto things either. I just kind of like just like, okay,
let's get rid of it. I used to be like a full pack rap where I was probably had a TV guide from nineteen ninety two, but then I had to let it go. I was like I can't. Yeah, I'm not that what is it the Marie condo that if it doesn't bring joy? I try to be that way, but no, I'm not here yet. Same same girl saying we are to say ay, and I'm like, did this does this bowl? From twelve years ago? Bring me jege and I'm kind of husband. My husband is the worst.
He's a hoarder. Like I'll throw stuff away and I have to. Like he'll go in the trash and dig things out and like keep them, and he's like, we might have a purpose for this, the same way as your husband, because but I also don't hold on to stuff. I get rid of stuff. But then I'll be like, oh wait, I gotta go get that out because I might need it, because you might make a crock pot full.
Ye never know. I do the same thing. Yeah, I might want this air friar one day, even though I've never made anything in an air friar, but one day I might, like, Jay, are you Italian or you just have like your your kids are Italian? No, I'm not Italian. My kids are Italian, Okay, because Italian. And I was wondering if that was like, I mean, I thought, So, what's your husband's last name? Spin you Okay, there you go. Yeah, his family's from an island off the coast, fairly called Punza.
It's actually where we went for our honeymoon. Yeah, gosh, I feel like I know you so well. No, I feel like she should go us the show with us. Wait, Jenny, as we have the show, how do you feel about like kind of going deep into Kelly a little bit today? I feel like everybody's kind of given me the same
info in different ways, which is good. It's like a good consensus makes me feel like, you know, um, the character had a great impact on people and not polarizing, you know, because even if you didn't like what Kelly did, you still liked her. That was important to me and I'm glad that came across. Yeah, if you hadn't if if it wasn't Brandon or Dylan, which one of the
love interests that you had, would you have picked? Because she doesn't remember, No, I guess one of the only ones I could remember because I just loved him was Daniel Cosgrove. So that would have been Matt Darning, Yeah, because he was He seemed boring on the outside, but he's a little freaky behinddoors. So I'm gonna go with Matt Darning as long as it wasn't Colin. So no, he's bad news, bad, bad, bad god. Thank you first, thank you coming on our show. I appreciate you, guys.
It was nice to meet you. But it was nice to have you back. Definitely, we'll see you again. We're gonna do Donna against I hope so deep as we keep going through. Bye. Thanks by good work, Jenny. You handled this very well, did I. It's a lot of attention on a lady, So that's gonna say. It makes you nervous, A lot of attention on a lady. Yeah. I like it. I love how people do it. I did too. I mean our fans are fucking amazingly. Yeah.
I agree. These people are so nice too. They really are like cool, love you my god nineties called it. Wait when do you not this weekend? The next weekend? Yeah? Yeah, we'll go this weekend. You want to go, Oh wait, you don't fly? I flew. I would so go, I would so go. I think. Yeah, you'd be annum the line to get like somebody else's signature, though, you'd be like, he'd be like, what are you doing? Oh? It's gonna be fun, but I had so much fun. Thank you
for doing a deep dive into Kelly. Next week we'll do a deep dive into amy for people. You like people. The people are dying, you would like send your questions crickets, No, just kidding. Why are you so annoying? You haters? Next week okay, So next week it's getting juicy and we've got some we've got an amazing guests coming to Yes, it's getting good and tore I'll be back and um all will be well. So thank you everybody for listening, and um I hope that you have a great week. Bye.
