Speaker 1

It's nine O Gen one leg with Jenny Garth and Tory Spelling. Wow, you guys.

Speaker 2

They missed them behind the scenes. I hate to say it, but the right before we go.

Speaker 1

On things are juicy. So it was pretty solid looking with you guys. This episode it is called love Hurts My Brain. That's what it did. That's what hurts. It hurt my brain. I couldn't. Could you believe this episode?

Speaker 2

Yeah, it's been It's burned in my brain since college.

Speaker 3

WHOA, I forgot? This is like one of the fan favorite episodes. That's like when people say, like to me, like Donna, like, oh my god, you said Dave. Okay, sorry I'm jumping ahead, but yes, that's like a big thing. All I could think about is, oh my gosh, I forgot Garrett. It's the guy from Cable.

Speaker 1

Guy, right, David bo who played Garrett Slan the Creeper.

Speaker 3

But wait, so okay, So we love Cable Guy because Brian always does impressions like spot on. He's so Jim Carrey good, he's so a secifically cable guy. But in the end scene of Cable Guy, David who played Garrett is in the end scene in the helicopter, like, remember, nope, okay.

Speaker 1

But this episode is so crazy, let's give him a Synopsis of season five, episode twenty three, Love Hurts, aired March first, nineteen ninety five.

Speaker 3

Synopsis Lenny is an outcast on campus while the real rapist is on the loose and comes for Donna. Meanwhile, Valerie's evil tactics put a wedge between David and Donna until he saves her. On the other side of town, Dylan discovers Andrea's dirty secret, and Andrea discovers doctor Peter is not in it for the long run.

Speaker 1

Directed by Gilbert Shilton, written by Arry Mullen and Kin Stringer.

Speaker 2

Jenny, where were you? Do you have any memory of why you're not in this episode? A?

Speaker 1

I have no memory of anything, and B well, I don't know. I think maybe it was just because Kelly had just been through so much trauma and drama. Maybe I needed a break.

Speaker 2

Yeah, maybe, Toy, do you y?

Speaker 1

Tory?

Speaker 3

I think maybe I'm wrong? Jen. Had we started double ups? I think this was a double up episode. Would that'd be wrong?

Speaker 2

That makes more sense, Tory, That makes sense because I would I not be there because maybe you were so busy in the others.

Speaker 3

You were so huge in the other one. I don't know, I don't know that sounds familiar.

Speaker 1

But maybe regardless, I did not miss me. I was able to watch the show and not like come out of it because I missed you. You know, it's a toy.

Speaker 2

It's an amazing performance.

Speaker 1

What a great episode. Oh my gosh, you should have gotten some sort of accolades for this.

Speaker 3

But nope, Nope, that wouldn't be on brand.

Speaker 2

No, but Jenny, we did miss you, and especially when Donna comes in and says, Kelly, Yeah, you're a Kelly.

Speaker 1

I know. It's just weird that they didn't like explain it because even though other person was there, like where would she be by herself? Even her mom was there?

Speaker 3

Maybe she was Nope, everyone, but here's the thing. The good news is your name was mentioned, Kelly, and you got paid.

Speaker 1

Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 3

You don't have to be there, so you're.

Speaker 2

Probably What do you remember about when they came to you with this script?

Speaker 3

Nothing?

Speaker 2

Oh, it's so traumatic. I remember this episode.

Speaker 3

No, I remember every detail of this episode, but I don't remember like when they came to me and said, here's what's going to happen you're going to be the one. I don't remember that.

Speaker 1

I don't remember anything about it because you know how when you're not it's not your scene, you don't really read it right. And I was never on it, so I saw all this for the first time. You guys read it that.

Speaker 2

Right, Yes, and you've never seen it.

Speaker 1

No, it's scary. It's so scary it's triggering. I'm sure for a lot of people. Yeah, I mean, can you imagine you, guys, this is the first episode of its kind to deal with something like this, like date rape, rape in general. I was just blown away and infidelity, Like there's so many huge things going on in this episode that teens were not talking about.

Speaker 2

No. And I remember being in college when this was on, and I think it was sort of brought awareness to us of how dangerous it could be on a college campus.

Speaker 3

Oh my god.

Speaker 1

My daughter Lola was watching with me and she was terrified.

Speaker 2

M Yeah, I definitely. You know how Steve was driving the golf cart around like to take girls where they needed to go.

Speaker 3

I liked him in that green jacket.

Speaker 1

Yeah, he was kipy truth.

Speaker 2

He was cute. We didn't have a golf cart, but there was a thing you could call, say we're at the library and you needed to walk to your dorm or sorority or whatever. There was a number you could call.

Speaker 1

To have a safety.

Speaker 2

Yeah, walk you don't. I never walked around alone. It was like a thing you just didn't. Berkeley was safe and fine, but you never walked around like a college campus just at night by yourself.

Speaker 3

No. No, yeah, we were never alone at college. There was like fifty million crew members all around this all times we were flying.

Speaker 1

That wasn't real.

Speaker 3

Shoot, I thought it was like the thing I have. Wait, do you remember that your Luke gave us all pepper sprays for Christmas? No? But I was so scared of like spraying myself that I kept in my drawer like panty drawer at home. Wait, that sounded weird. I didn't mean like, but I never used it, but it would have. That's what you need. Yeah, Like, my girls have pepper spray on their backpacks, like they.

Speaker 2

Didn't not call it pepper spray, sugarcoat anything. So this episode like it was not.

Speaker 3

It wasn't soapy like it's become lately.

Speaker 1

It went back to basics, like the drama. Should we just recap it? Like from the top.

Speaker 2

Definitely.

Speaker 1

All right, let's start out at the California I call it the California University.

Speaker 3

Where, uh, Donna, I don't want to say see you.

Speaker 1

No, Donna is telling Steve and Andrea about how betrayed she feels by Claire and David because they won't hire Ray at the Pea Pad.

Speaker 2

Yeah, she really blamed Claire at first.

Speaker 1

Why is Claire? Is Claire the booker? There is? I don't understand who owns or runs the Pea Pad because there are a bunch of kids, but they own a nightclub.

Speaker 3

Why do you keep going at the pa Pad?

Speaker 4

I don't know.

Speaker 1

I'm so glad I jumped in after Dark pea Pad.

Speaker 3

Anybody like a pea pad? Like a dog? Pea pad? Yeah?

Speaker 1

Your favorite thing not to use? Yep, the pea Pad.

Speaker 2

We don't have to be it's new.

Speaker 1

Yeah, it's a really long title.

Speaker 2

Peach Pit after Dark Gonna stick.

Speaker 3

It's a good one. Okay.

Speaker 2

Yeah, let's talk about the hierarchy. So now owns a lot of dying, I think, But I think David and Claire are the bookers, Okay, the music booker.

Speaker 3

Claire feels more involved though, Yeah, she has more, say than just like booking, like I trust her, yeah, a little bit more.

Speaker 2

They're such a weird too. They're like a couple that sort of just doesn't seem like a couple.

Speaker 3

Just doesn't work.

Speaker 2

It's so weird. But they're cool and they're like friends, but they're not. They're such a weird couple. I think there was a kiss in this.

Speaker 3

There's no chemistry.

Speaker 2

No, I was like at all, Yeah, it's weird.

Speaker 1

This is immediately off the top. I was like, Okay, this episode is written by men, and so I didn't know what was going to happen. So as the episode progressed and you know, stuff started to go down, I was like, uh huh man man dialogue. Man, this is all the whole no offense to anybody, but it was definitely just like through a men's lens of what a rape or date rape or all of it. The whole thing for me was just interested off in that respect.

Speaker 3

I hear you. I mean, I guess I did the best I could with what I was given. Of course, make it make it more feminine, yeah, job.

Speaker 1

You brought like the sympathy, like the sympathetic story of it all, and like the fear but like it just felt very he was weird handily. I mean, it's just a lot.

Speaker 2

It was a lot. And they have.

Speaker 1

A registered sex offender on campus. Yeah, living in a dorm. I don't Yeah, that wasn't would that happen or would it wasn't it? I don't even think registered sex offender was like a thing that was discussed anywhere then. I don't remember.

Speaker 2

I just don't think a registered sex offender. We're talking about Lenny, right, Yeah, he's that didn't track for me. I had a little bit of a flag on that, like, why is this guy living in the dorm? Then?

Speaker 1

Yeah, Brandon says, he tells everybody that Lenny wasn't the guy, that he wasn't the rapist, So everybody is cleared Lenny in the beginning.

Speaker 2

But yeah, they're so awful to him.

Speaker 1

Andrea then gets a beep from Peter and meets a.

Speaker 3

Madamte discussion took me right back to the nineties.

Speaker 2

Is that the notel motel with them is really taking them down?

Speaker 3

For me?

Speaker 2

Like now, it's just kind of gross.

Speaker 1

Well, where else are they gonna do it?

Speaker 3

It's just not fun to see gotten. It's not really from Beverly hills, no one will spot her. Yeah, he's a doctor. He can splurge for something a little better up, but he pays for a week at a time. Why because he gets a discount that way. It's just ew.

Speaker 2

It was, oh, yeah, thank you E.

Speaker 3

Are we to the point where Garrett Canson?

Speaker 1

Yes?

Speaker 2

I think so.

Speaker 3

It's so weird. It's like a scene that's kind of irrelevant, to be honest, But I remember sitting across from Tiffany like filming that scene where the food is there, and I'm talking to her and she's like, no, David, you know, David's fault that this happened.

Speaker 2

Yeah, we meet him. I think we meet him first at SeeU. Remember he cleans the table.

Speaker 3

I'm so nervous spilling something. I'm so clumsy, and I thought when he came in to the pad, I could have sworn. I was like hey Garrett, and I was like, had to rewind. But I say hey there because later I ask his name.

Speaker 1

You don't really know him, right, You're really nice to him. I mean in Donna fashion, of course, you're nice to everybody.

Speaker 3

I was really really highly distracted by my outfit because my nipples in different directions gonna lie, did see there's a problem, because if she had been there, she would have corrected that. So now I'm really missing shirt with the suspender pink pink. Oh, it happens later then too. This one is like one's going north, ones going south, and I'm just distracted.

Speaker 1

I wouldn't have let that happen if I had been with you. Correct somebody should have flagged that for you, somebody, But I'm sure again I didn't feel comfortable letting you know. But he was real into you. When we go to the LAPD station where Lenny's being released and David is there to pick him up, I had no idea. Yeah, they were so close.

Speaker 2

I mean that yeah stretch, Yeah, that was the stretch.

Speaker 1

And he tells David a story on the way home that was like you got a short and munch. It's a long story about law. Yeah, his so his friends when they were soldiers and hookers and oh yeah, you know a little gung ho and woke up in a prison sale accused of rape. Nice.

Speaker 3

And all I could focus on was the little fur under Brian's chin. Right, I'm not that little patch that I is that new this week because it's been like a little bit of a that was it wasn't rate.

Speaker 2

Wait, Jenny, I want to know at this point in this episode, but where your head was at? Like I knew so much of what was happening, and I think Tory does too. So where are you out on this episode?

Speaker 1

Like is it good?

Speaker 2

Is it? Are you having foreshadow like what are you feeling kind of at this point?

Speaker 1

Well, I didn't have foreshadowing until a little bit later. But I since I fell asleep at the end of the last episode, I wasn't really that clear on Lenny's role or Lenny was because you guys were filling me in last week. So I was a little confused. And I was super confused as to why David is friends with this guy to drive him home. I didn't understand that, Yeah, but I didn't.

Speaker 3

I didn't know.

Speaker 2

I did.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I didn't know anything about what was coming.

Speaker 2

And did you get a bad vibe from Garrett when he was at the peach pit and and Tori's I mean sorry, Donald's yes, where's my purse?

Speaker 1

And then you're like that happens later? Yeah, definitely, I didn't get flat because he took your address out of it. He took like your man something.

Speaker 3

Yeah, but he's good, right, Like, so why would he he's bad? Yeah, it's almost like he won. Oh he's just bad or he wanted her to know something's off, be scared, be alarmed. No, I think he's that like to make him.

Speaker 1

Maybe she was, Yeah, maybe he had a rush or something. Then we go back to the CEU. How about that the school senators meeting, and Janice is kicking ass. I am in love with this character. She tells the entire room about Lenny's record, even though it was supposed to be confidential.

Speaker 3

Mm hmm.

Speaker 1

And I was a big fan of the lighting in that scene. Did you guys notice anything about the lighting in this episode?

Speaker 3

Yeah, like the blinds across like Jason, I miss good.

Speaker 1

Yes, I'd never seen that kind of lighting on the show. And then that we started doing that a lot.

Speaker 2

Yeah, you're oh, I'm gonna have to keep my eyes open for that. I did not. I was very into the storyline, so I was not. I didn't really notice like that was different.

Speaker 1

I feel like it was a different lighting guy personally. Oh maybe maybe I don't know.

Speaker 3

We did at one point make a change.

Speaker 1

Yes, I feel like it's right here it's happening.

Speaker 3

It's happening, it's happening.

Speaker 1

So yeah, they're all talking about Lenny and how he shouldn't be there. Duh.

Speaker 2

I thought a little bit bad about that. You guys said you were a little bit because it was like he was wrongfully accused. Yes, the story was dicey. I was like, that's making me not totally like feeling bad for Lenny. But it was the classic case of like, oh, get senor provujet of you, you know what I mean, Like it was so like, god, wait, this isn't even the guy.

Speaker 1

Did feel a little heavy handed.

Speaker 2

I think we're just supposed to think he's the guy, and but immediately you know it's the other guy.

Speaker 1

Then go to the hotel motel, you guys, oh goodness, and Dylan is just, you know, conveniently there of.

Speaker 2

All the gin joints, right, like, there's five thousand motels in LA and they she picks the one where his buddy works.

Speaker 3

Love it.

Speaker 1

So yeah, Charlie's there writing his screenplay and then just offers it up to Dylan to finish. I didn't spend that either. Who does that?

Speaker 3

I think that happens a lot.

Speaker 2

Can I rebring out something controversial again. And I know I'm a little jumping ahead. Andrea and Dylan are the couple like that is the couple that should have been.

Speaker 3

And I know we've talked this happening right now, and I know you guys, I don't like it, but I do.

Speaker 2

Have support from fans.

Speaker 1

Okay, who are they?

Speaker 2

Many people when I said any last time, and you got many.

Speaker 1

Many people.

Speaker 2

A lot of people commented they were with me. Just to keep behind. All I ask is that you keep it in mind.

Speaker 3

That all the three people that supported me on this, and you were one of them, so too.

Speaker 2

To keep it in mind as we have this conversation right because there's two scenes in this episode that I think fully support where I'm at on it. One where they have the conversation that I think Jenny's about to tell us about like he saw her, and two we will talk about when we get to it. So I apologize for taking a sideways, but I think we need to think about it real seriously.

Speaker 1

No, I'm not gay about that.

Speaker 3

Well, when we get there, okay, let's keep Yeah. Yeah, I've noted it, thank you, thank you. Uh so.

Speaker 1

Charlie then points out that it is in fact a note Tell Moe Tell and Dylan looks out the window and sees Andrea leaving one of the rooms.

Speaker 4

And picture Charlie's so like, like there's this couple and he fills in and then she pills in, and then they go in and then he pulls out and then like, oh, my friend, Like it's so like, come on, she.

Speaker 1

Was fully showered.

Speaker 3

She took a shower.

Speaker 2

Yeah, oh yeah, kind of slipped back hair, uh uh uh.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's unsettling.

Speaker 2

Never get in the bed or the shower at that place. I don't care if it's.

Speaker 3

It's worse or this shower. I don't know which is worse.

Speaker 1

I think.

Speaker 2

Because at least his showers like water, like literally, brad Pitt could be like, meet me here, and I'd be like, no, I'd go.

Speaker 3

Then yeah, I'd go. Yeah, I'd get all the hotel, motel, Cootie, brad Pitt want to be there.

Speaker 2

What are we thinking of Andrea. I'm quite disappointed in her, right, yeah.

Speaker 1

Yeah, I mean she's a human.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

I doesn't even feel bad about it.

Speaker 3

In a lot of the episode, she's in love with him. Oh, doctor Peter, by.

Speaker 2

The way, crazily, you guys I have to tell you really fast, doctor Peter. So you know, I'm rewatching twenty four. He is fully in Keeper Sutherland's twenty four.

Speaker 1

Oh that's nice, and.

Speaker 2

I'm totally watching it while I'm watching this, and I'm like, wow, there he is. He's like a one of the kind of like CTU agents.

Speaker 3

Huh. I think that one too.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I think you might have facial hair in it. But I mean that's it's ninety five right now. The episode I'm watching was like ten years later.

Speaker 1

So this is when things start to get creepy though. Back at the Peapad, Donna is looking for Valerie when the waiter at the Condor's Nest, that same guy named Garrett comes in. He is now looking for a job, conveniently at the peach pit after dark, the only place to get a job.

Speaker 2

Now, can I ask you guys? We learned later that he was sort of stalking Claire. Did you guys get any No? I didn't either, that sort of that was confusing.

Speaker 3

Wait wait, wait, did something happen last week where there was a little like we thought something was going to happen to Claire? Because I'm confused then or was the scene cut?

Speaker 2

No? Claire.

Speaker 1

Maybe maybe he was watching her and that he knew that's where she worked at the peach pit after dark, so we followed her there and then he found you when.

Speaker 2

You spill at the table, who's sitting with you.

Speaker 3

Andrea? Not Claire?

Speaker 2

Anyway, Steve, somebody with eagle eyes might be able to explain that to me better, because that.

Speaker 3

Hold when he does come in, because he's coming in for a job there, he says, is Claire here, so he knows he's supposed.

Speaker 2

To be, So maybe he was initially kind of seeking her out and then he meets you and switches.

Speaker 3

And then I was like, what.

Speaker 1

Why is Donna being so nice to Valerie? Is it because of what we talked about last week that you you kind of know what she's up to, so you're trying to like bait her by being nice to her? Great question, Like I didn't get now why you were friendly?

Speaker 3

Okay, so why did I come there? I came there just to say hey, to talk about Yeah, I'm pissed, I think so, but I'm too nice? And then she disarmed me you by blame me on David, and I totally am gullible. I'm like, oh yeah, fine, yeah, sure, let's eat. Yeah good though.

Speaker 2

It was I immediately got scared by the purse thing, Like I definitely was like, yeah that Sam act when you were like, where's my purse? And then I was like, oh, then you find the purse and you go through it, and I was like, I'm actually scared.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's when you know something bad's happening. I honestly knew earlier when he came in and he was staring at you. Oh really your little cheerleader outfit. So yeah, she finds her purses missing and we go back, how I feel exhausted. We're going back to see you now, and Steve is giving out the golf cart rides to the students.

Speaker 2

That was cute.

Speaker 1

He was cute in that, so cute. I wanted to know where they were shooting this because this scene looks very similar to where they shoot something else in this episode.

Speaker 3

It wasn't occidental. I don't know.

Speaker 1

I don't know.

Speaker 2

When you find out you have to go all the way to occidental, do you kind of go, oh well.

Speaker 3

I mean for years we had to go to Torrents for high school, so for college breaking out okay, the same Yeah, it was just like a different direction far and.

Speaker 2

You drive yourselves interesting okay, sorry, little tidbits for me to learn.

Speaker 1

And then they see Lenny getting mobbed and angry crowd. I was scared for him. Andrea tells Dylan. That's where Dylan meets up with Andrea too and confronts her. Thank you about the affairs.

Speaker 2

So let us talk about.

Speaker 1

Another moment for Amy and her theory.

Speaker 2

Of this is where it began for me. In this episode again, they have a first of all, he tells her he doesn't keep it. He's not a jerk about it. He's a really really good friend to her. He's not accosting her with the information, if that's the right word. He's just very I'm here. Let's talk about it if you want to.

Speaker 3

Okay, may I interject? Wait, so there is I know what you're talking about. There's some feeling, there's a chemistry that he projects towards her that's different than with like other relationships.

Speaker 2

Correct, they're very it's close. It is a real mutual respect between them.

Speaker 1

He's not more grounded like it feels very adult.

Speaker 2

He's not giving her a kind Yes, he's very loving towards her always Wow, and we will discuss later. It's very affectionate with him.

Speaker 3

I feel it. I know what you're saying now. I was so against it, like there's.

Speaker 2

Something but there could have been, Like I get it. We didn't do that, but like I wish they would have, because he genuinely cares about her so much. She has always respected him, she has always valued him, She has always known how smart he is. They have this sort of like leveled up relationship. So anyway, we'll talk about it more as it goes on, because then it really gets real.

Speaker 1

Then we see David going to Lenny's room and trying to convince him to not leave.

Speaker 3

Campus, and he says, give me a day. I'm going to work it out, give me a day. What's he gonna do? What?

Speaker 1

I have a question going back to the the Dylan Andrea thing. First of her, First of all, her hair was like perfection, right out of a hair catalog.

Speaker 2

Would you do that?

Speaker 1

Like, would you guys do that? Would you step in if you saw a friend of yours that you care about deeply having an affair with somebody or pooling around with somebody besides their spouse, would you do.

Speaker 4

Yes?

Speaker 2

Yeah?

Speaker 3

I think I would say because he's not telling her not to do it. He's just telling her he knows.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I think I think for her, I think I maybe would. It only puts you in the weird position if the other one comes to you and so is my wife cheating on me, then you're like, OK, no, I'm screwed. No, But I think he did the right thing by saying I saw you. He's really not saying stop it or do it. He's just like, judge, you want someone to listen.

Speaker 3

Because imagine what that must be like to only be able to keep that inside and have nobody you feel you can talk to about it. So the fact that he's there must be a huge relief for her.

Speaker 2

And I wouldn't have liked it if he didn't tell her. That would be so like dishonest to what I'm talking about with their friendship. Their friendship is very deep in my opinion.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's that, that's true. I was on the fence about it. If I would do that personally, I probably would.

Speaker 2

But right, you only get into hot water if you're in the middle.

Speaker 3

But that's something about me. You would have come and swinging, But well.

Speaker 1

For you, yeah, uh, this is the thing though, Dylan's really good at helping people, Like I feel like he genuinely loves to help people, which is such a cool character. That is something about this character that he brought.

Speaker 5

To it, you know.

Speaker 2

Yeah, just especially her, and the same for her with him.

Speaker 1

Okay, we get it, Amy, I want Dylan and Andrea together.

Speaker 2

I really would have loved to see it happen. I think they could have been.

Speaker 3

An endgame three point five people and you.

Speaker 2

Could have anyway. I digress, but continue.

Speaker 1

Did anybody notice how tall Brian got? Like he hit a growth spurt. There was one point where he was in a scene with Jason, David and Brandon were any scene together and David is towering over him. I think it was at the at the wallsh house that's coming up.

Speaker 2

Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I did kind of notice that.

Speaker 3

Wait, you think.

Speaker 2

We talked to Lenny?

Speaker 1

Yes, right, Amy, guys still are growing when they're I grew so yeah. Really yeah, I literally feel like he hit puberty between the last episode and this episode, Like that was it.

Speaker 3

He changed a little, like.

Speaker 1

Spurt, that's why they call it the spur.

Speaker 2

At the time the ten years, he really changed a lot.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Yeah, he became a man. Yeah, and then we go to the beach house where David shows up and Donna is furious with him for getting rid of Ray. She they wait, they are really screaming at each other.

Speaker 2

Yeah, that was really tory. Yoh, because you really both you and Brian really bring it in this episode, because that was a crazy fight.

Speaker 3

I was like, so I came in hot, and I was like, wait, am I gonna have levels? Like am I coming in too hot? Too fast? Thing? Like you want to build? But like it was okay because they're both like fired up.

Speaker 1

There's a lot of emotion between these two, like pent up feelings literally.

Speaker 3

Sexual tension. There's I mean, imagine like every friendship, it.

Speaker 1

Just reached its boiling point.

Speaker 3

Right. I can't believe he called her what do you say?

Speaker 1

Oh, I can't even say it. You say it amy insensitive.

Speaker 3

You've become a.

Speaker 1

Self involved bitch.

Speaker 2

Yeah.

Speaker 1

It was a version of what you used to be.

Speaker 3

And I was like, I know, that's so funny, that's ironic because I'm really pale right now. When like the Mac like you would put on like a shade, two shades, like lighter than your face, and it was so in And I was like literally, I'm so cr okay this Gil.

Speaker 2

First of all, that fight was a big miss understanding, right, because it's like, yes, David didn't like fight for Ray, but he isn't the cause of this now. But he went really too far there at the end because I

haven't noticed that Donna. First of all, yes, because we know more right, we know that Valerie is just backstabbing Donna so hard and her best friend's been in a cult like Donna's sort of just been like oh, and I don't think Donna's become anything less than she always was, which is always the voice of reason, kind, loving, loyal. So it's like she's loyal to Ray because she picked him even if she shouldn't be.

Speaker 3

But she's not as passive as maybe David knew her. Like she's grown up a bit. She's a really good point a little bit, and maybe he's taking that as her being selfish because she's stronger.

Speaker 2

That's a great point to her.

Speaker 3

I don't know, she is stronger.

Speaker 2

That's and you stood up to Kelly a little bit, like don't quit school. Yeah, you're finding your voice a bit. Good, good point.

Speaker 1

I mean that was a great scene acting fight, The fight I have written down. That was a great fight. I like Claire shirt, the sequence shirt, but I would say it, Yeah, I was just gonna say it. You should never talk about my haircuts after that haircut.

Speaker 3

But in all fairness, yours was a choice. I told you that.

Speaker 1

Wait, wasn't a choice.

Speaker 2

No.

Speaker 3

I went in and I had like my little bob thing, and he got confused and he chopped.

Speaker 1

It like a boy like boy, Well, how do you know that didn't happen to me?

Speaker 4

Jen?

Speaker 3

Was there an accident?

Speaker 1

I was distracted because I was laughing.

Speaker 3

Oh, those little curls. I'm just like that probably took so long to put those whole half curls all over.

Speaker 2

I had short hair because of you too.

Speaker 1

It's getting shorter and shorter.

Speaker 2

Yeah, I blame you guys. Short hair was sort of in and this time I think or you guys made it literally.

Speaker 3

With the suspenders and the thermal look.

Speaker 1

Then we cut to a scene where the someone scary is packing up a duffel bag and he's putting in a knife and a rope.

Speaker 2

Wait till we talk about him breaking in. He's like, ye tell me when we get there.

Speaker 1

Okay, So now we're going to go to the peach pit, and we're going to see Cindy trying to play matchmaker for Jackie, who I was so happy to see. She's always so such a vision on camera. She's so pretty. She says that she has been married four times and she's kind of done with that. But then Old Mail walks in with Aaron and Jackie starts flirting with him.

Speaker 2

This was so random and yet so welcome. I was like, I love Cindy setting up and she was going to go on the town and she's setting her up.

Speaker 1

I love that.

Speaker 2

Mel. I'm not even mad at Mel. I want them to be back together.

Speaker 1

I know, right, I could feel the chemistry between those two, like, wait, they barely did anything, and I mean Jackie and Mel, they.

Speaker 2

Might as well be back.

Speaker 1

They were just sure, yes, yes, they were in hardcore.

Speaker 2

I don't think you've given a spoiler. Yes, And this is they might as well be back together already. After that scene, I was like, you, I like it. I like when they are not getting along, it was annoying. So he's already a little too slick, so it's like he needs to be perfect for each other.

Speaker 1

Yeah. Then this is the scene back at the Walsh House where Brandon tells Cindy, which I really like. I enjoyed a mother son chit chat from these two. I kind of want to see more of that. But this is the scene where Brian comes in and he's towering over Brandon. David comes in and he's towering over Brandon, and I was like, oh, man, they should have like

didn't they usually put apple boxes? Yeah, people to like level out the playing field a little bit, because on his over shoulder he was like looking up.

Speaker 2

Wow, I agree with you, Jenny that I would like a little more Walshes. We're missing the Walshes a bit.

Speaker 1

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I liked it.

Speaker 2

Yeah, yeah, maybe that's why I love that scene so much with Missus Walsh and your mom.

Speaker 1

It was so.

Speaker 2

Cute and different and we Yeah, I.

Speaker 1

Would like a little more of that, I think, Yeah, we miss the Elders.

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 1

Then we're back at the door. No wait, first we have to go to Andrey and Jesse. Oh god, this scene was I think and is being so annoying. I just it was a lot of yelling between David and now Jesse and Andrea are yelling at each other.

Speaker 2

That's so like my tongue in and painis Bill and it was just like God. And then she storms out and goes to.

Speaker 1

Like she tells them so tune up the car. Though before he.

Speaker 2

Oh my god, thank you for I literally was like, how does he know how to tune up a car? And second of all, what cars need tune ups?

Speaker 5

Like the car?

Speaker 1

Yeah, they didn't have Jippy Loube. Apparently that was.

Speaker 2

It was necessary, but it was like, oh my god, what are we? This is I didn't sign up for this?

Speaker 1

Oh I don't.

Speaker 2

I was in hook Line and Singer, but I didn't sign up for Mayor Woes on nine o two one.

Speaker 1

But yeah, So then we go to the dorms where Brandon goes to talk to Lenny. Lenny tells him that the cops are not doing a good job with the investigation, and he actually knows, I.

Speaker 3

Mean, braved melody, don't, don't, don't.

Speaker 2

This guy who's already kind of got a record is going to withhold that kind of information. Absolutely not. That was bananas. Yeah, maybe he was just scared, but yeah, Brandon explains later, but.

Speaker 1

Did you guys feel that this was a big an expensive episode?

Speaker 4

Did?

Speaker 3

In fact?

Speaker 1

I felt like they were on location a lot like outside I don't know.

Speaker 2

It just felt like those extra happenings.

Speaker 1

Yeah, when did this episode?

Speaker 2

When did this air?

Speaker 1

Ninety five March first?

Speaker 2

Not sweeps, But.

Speaker 1

This is where it gets crazy for me and for everybody, I'm sure. Back at the beach host on, it comes home and the lights don't work. So, Donna, did you come in the back door or the patio door? The other door?

Speaker 2

She definitely comes in the other door, like the wooden door. The front door is when I would call it. And he broke in through the back door in my opinion. So I remember going, Okay, she's going in a different door.

Speaker 1

Well, it doesn't matter what door she goes in because she it's trouble. Yeah, Garrett's there waiting for her, and he attacks her and he asks her to call him Warren.

Speaker 2

It was very aggressive too, and he likes so scary. It was so scary, it was terrifying.

Speaker 3

I just remember there being a lot more Oh you shot like tons? Yeah, there was tons of dialogue and tons of different There was a lot cut I saw him really, Yeah, it was, but it was more I felt like it was so good. It was because it was tightened up good. But there was we go into Yeah, there's a lot more.

Speaker 2

Yeah, what a good job. Like, it's such so weird to talk about this because it was such a nice guy. We're talking about it like a show, right, because he's so good. He wasn't great leading up. He was sort of like I don't know, but this I was like, I believe this guy's psycho. This guy is so scary. This guy is totally a murderer rapist.

Speaker 3

So wait, so he is his real name Warren or does he have a split personality, Like yeah, that must be the yeah he goes into from Garrett Warren and now Warren on the Kay.

Speaker 2

What's crazy is it's twenty eight minutes into the episode when this happens.

Speaker 5

Like it was.

Speaker 2

A long scary scenes like it was long and if you shot more.

Speaker 1

Whoa, Yeah, it was just awful watching it was. It was.

Speaker 2

I do not know, Torri, how you did that?

Speaker 3

Like, I mean, thank goodness for Lifetime movies at that point. Oh my, I'm just kidding. They were I was prepared.

Speaker 1

You were channeling and other care women from Harold.

Speaker 3

Movies that we all filmed. It wasn't even Lifetime then, it was actually on prime time. It was like NBCCBS. You know and now and then Lifetime Yeah, yeah, ye, but yeah, it was always the women in peril and like, so we were prepped.

Speaker 5

Hay, Were you like w t F what seeing it for the first time like I was, And I was also angry, where the where's Kelly?

Speaker 1

She should be helping her? I just it was really hard to watch, and you did such a great job, but it made me so uncomfortable and I felt so triggered on behalf of all the young girls and even their moms watching it back then.

Speaker 2

That is hard to watch today as it was then.

Speaker 3

It's I have a question, Like I was wondering if in her mind she was like, Okay, if I tell him I'm a virgin, maybe he won't do it.

Speaker 2

Tell him the truth to see if it will do something.

Speaker 3

Maybe right, if that would help her in the moment, and maybe.

Speaker 1

You were so good though when they had that duct tape on your mouth, it was scary, But then when they took the duct tape off, it wasn't you know how they used to put the duct tape on and like make it not sticky, but then they wanted it to look like it was like sticky tape.

Speaker 3

Yeah, okay, I could possibly put these on our faces, right, so when it came off, you could tell it wasn't sticky.

Speaker 1

It would just like it didn't stick like it wasn't like rah.

Speaker 3

Yep, I'm remembering now, okay, But it was just.

Speaker 2

Like astounded at how good you were in the ripping.

Speaker 1

Yes, yes, I didn't even know about this storyline. I'm so great. So were you just like somebody else had to have bad things happened to them too?

Speaker 2

Were you, Jenny? Were you just like completely shocked watching this? Yes?

Speaker 1

I was saying, oh mg, no, Donna, I was talking yelling at the TV.

Speaker 2

Yeah, because I I've seen this. This one definitely traumatized me then and now I'm like, oh god, oh god. But like seeing it for the first time, beat you being you that must have been like nuts. Did you watch it last night?

Speaker 1

I watched it last night.

Speaker 2

You've just seen this?

Speaker 1

Like, yeah, yeah, this is the this is a ten. I'm just gonna go for it right now. I'm already scoring it.

Speaker 2

That's a and Tory, what's it like rewatching it?

Speaker 3

I'd forgotten. I knew the storyline was coming up. I knew I got stocked. I didn't realize it was like time he tied her up and it was like a rape scene. It all came back like I was like, oh my god, Yeah, it.

Speaker 1

Was bigger than you remember it, right, yes?

Speaker 2

Uh can you remember preparing for this at all? This would have to be the most challenging work. I guess you've done. I mean, I guess those movies did prepare you and I do remember those, but I don't know.

Speaker 3

I mean, to me, this was like for the main event.

Speaker 2

Unbelievable.

Speaker 1

Nine O two one O, like where you're just oh my god, on the edge of your seat and you're saying, I love this show so much. Because then David comes in and done call's and Dave and and that was like her brilliant way to send him a signal that something was wrong, and because these two characters know each other so well, he picked up on it.

Speaker 3

He gets the baseball, which we had foreshadowing earlier. Why the baseball bat? Wait?

Speaker 2

I fully missed that. Was there a moment where you mentioned there's a baseball bat in the apartment? Oh my god, I fully miss save.

Speaker 3

I'm just kidding. David comes in on the other door, right, sorry that I flip flopped, and he's like metal baseball bat basically, and Claire makes some reference to softball. Donna I was she, Oh my god, is this completely missed that? Yeah, I was unwilling to go back to see what she meant by that, but I noted it.

Speaker 1

So they were just kind of laying the foundation there for.

Speaker 3

Yeah, because it could be weird if just all of a sudden, he came in with a baseball bat.

Speaker 1

Oh my god, David cracks him so hard, massive as Donna.

Speaker 2

You beat the crap was Donna's way.

Speaker 1

I thought you were going to kill him, Like I thought that's where the episode was going to go. He was going to die. Oh wait, just going.

Speaker 3

Back a little bit. Garrett aka Warren noted that Donna had taken self defense classes because remember oh yeah, season before I Do which when Brenda with Brenda was it two seas ago self defense? And Jason directed that episode and Donna went to action at the theme park. He knew that she had taken self defense classes, but he said she was gotten a little slow.

Speaker 2

That's weird.

Speaker 1

Yeah, that's creepy, but maybe he's been one Daves hotel.

Speaker 2

He's not an amateur, was unafraid and came in there hot and ready to kick ass.

Speaker 1

Like he's so real too. That hit with a baseball bat, it looks so real.

Speaker 3

Oh my god.

Speaker 2

The doing these scenes is no joke, like because it was all real. And he comes in and he is mad and like ready to defend his woman and just rob. I was like, oh my god.

Speaker 3

The thing is when I was calling out to him, so I heard the dave the first time, I was like, really, that was it. She only says it like that one time, like I don't know if that would be enough. Then she does second again. Thank god?

Speaker 2

Right.

Speaker 1

I felt the same way. I was.

Speaker 3

Green, like be like, okay, Bob, Bob, because what if he was like huh said something weird and then he like killed her, Like yeah, yeah.

Speaker 1

Yeah, Well, thankfully it all worked out. I feel like you're gonna have a little ptsc from that though.

Speaker 2

And then that scene with the two of them, mm hmmm.

Speaker 1

He was sweet at the end.

Speaker 2

I was like, like my reaction to that was like, why are we bothering with them dating anybody else? Yeah?

Speaker 3

Are we going to have five more seasons for them to be back together? Like, but just like the again, we're talking about intimacy, Like the two characters the two actors like having that. It's something you can't like create that, like you see them together or even just subtle things you're like, oh, yeah, did we.

Speaker 2

When is the scene that I've been waiting to talk about also with Andrea and Dylan?

Speaker 3

Is it before this?

Speaker 1

Yes, no, we're coming to it because we go back to the to the hotel motel that.

Speaker 2

They had this crescendo of the episode fairly early in the episode.

Speaker 1

It was like three quarters of the way through it, right.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Like we get to this real moment in the middle.

Speaker 1

Before we go back to the hotel, we see Brandon go to the tell Claire that the rapist has been stalking her, and then they're their cops are coming and.

Speaker 2

They don't even know yet what's happening at the apartment.

Speaker 1

Nope. Wow mm hmm. Then we go back to the motel where Charlie offers Dylan the indie food, and then it becomes like a imitation of Indian people. Oh god, yes, yes, that was that was like, oh cringey.

Speaker 2

There's a couple of those cringey moments.

Speaker 1

But then, of course Dylan is there at exactly the right time, and he sees Andrea and Peter back at the motel, where Andrea is professing her love for him and saying that she thinks that they should leave their spouses.

Speaker 2

Oh, it's just the tail as old as time is what it is. Yeah, yeah, and it's I'm glad it's blowing up because I couldn't.

Speaker 3

Go on with this.

Speaker 1

Yeah, yeah, I didn't. I don't want to see any more of that. Nobody.

Speaker 2

Peter really comes through as a jerk.

Speaker 1

He really does, because he thought this was like a whole, no strings attached thing and says he's not going to leave his wife because she's putting him through school, who he.

Speaker 2

Had complained about to such an extreme just like two weeks ago. But I'm like, you literally hated her two weeks ago, so I get it.

Speaker 1

But yet, really, yeah, he was just He says that he didn't promise her anything. He's not the bad guy. He didn't, he didn't.

Speaker 3

But still he really.

Speaker 1

Remember he kept saying like, let's run away and creating all these scenarios where she should trust him.

Speaker 2

Is that gaslighting? You know everyone talks about gaslighting.

Speaker 1

He kind of that's just lying.

Speaker 2

He definitely strung her along, Like I don't find.

Speaker 3

Her promising without promising a future.

Speaker 1

So what is that.

Speaker 3

I'm sure there's a word for it. It's not gaslighting, because it's not I don't find something crazy.

Speaker 2

For feeling befuddled by the whole, like going, wait what like it was an abrupt turn.

Speaker 1

Yes, And I was with her.

Speaker 2

Going, this guy is gonna leave his wife for her?

Speaker 3

Yeah.

Speaker 2

So then when he just suddenly is like not only does he say it, he's a d word about it, I was like, I'm done with you a day.

Speaker 1

I'm imagining that they like turned up the volume on that on his character there just so that they could have an end.

Speaker 2

Yes, they had to because we were all like, we like him, Yeah, together, we had to get rid of him.

Speaker 1

Yeah, and Dylan is there too, Console Andrea.

Speaker 2

Guys that you cannot tell me those two are not in love with each other like that.

Speaker 1

It's a great scene. It was. It was a great show overall. Really enjoyed it.

Speaker 2

Yes, because like they were so connected. He is so he is the boyfriend that comes running to save her from her a stake, and he's the way he hugs her, the way they I am obsessed with them.

Speaker 3

Oh, he's her David, he's her David, working.

Speaker 1

I just see them as really good friends. I don't see I don't see the chemistry that you guys are talking about. I just see them as like friends, like real.

Speaker 2

Would you have just been like no, if they would have just suddenly started kissing, it wouldn't.

Speaker 1

Have worked for me, just because, yeah, I know, you can put yourself out of it.

Speaker 3

You're you, You're Kelly.

Speaker 2

No.

Speaker 1

But even as Kelly, I just as a viewer, I don't see what you're talking about. I see him being the greatest friend to her and like a big brother to her, watching out for her, being kind to her. I never ever, ever saw even the glimpse of sexual attention.

Speaker 3

I was very against it too. I don't even know, just physically like the idea of the two of them. But then when Amy explained it, I'm like, oh, some and I think.

Speaker 2

Because you're Kelly and we know, yes, they are meant to be Kelly and Dylan, and they were any back.

Speaker 1

Kelly and Dylan at all. And that's not even with this. I'm not talking about that. I'm just talking about what I've seen as a viewer, right, I'm not seeing what you're seeing. But that's the great thing about the show. Is that it's all, you know, subjective, and.

Speaker 3

I feel it more from him to her than oh my god, Oh my god.

Speaker 2

I was just about to say that.

Speaker 1

But what you're feeling is like kindness, and that can be mistaken for feelings of a different kind. But I really don't see it possibly true. You might be right to let listeners let us.

Speaker 3

Know, and more than three of you, please please.

Speaker 1

Weigh in on the Dylan Andrea.

Speaker 2

I like see where you're coming from.

Speaker 3

Best friends like, but if Amy hadn't like said the word intimacy, like there is something intimate about their relationship.

Speaker 2

Yes, I and Tori, I agree with you. I think he loves her. Yeah, this is weird, and I think she just would never it's the it's the it's the quarterback has fallen in love with the nerd. Do you know what I'm saying? Yes, like he loves it's what's that Freddy Print's movie with uh ah Rachel all that.

Speaker 1

Yes, it's the she usually cook.

Speaker 2

I don't know there's something there where I'm like, he loves her.

Speaker 1

Man anyway, It's just fun and I'm so here. I'm so glad you're in. We uh We have another episode next week. It's called Oh this is Unreal World.

Speaker 2

Is anyone exhausted from this one?

Speaker 3

Ah?

Speaker 1

Yeah, I need like a little break. It was a lot to process and just like when it was over, I couldn't believe it happened. Same and then where do you go from there? Like how does don ever feel safe again in the apartment?

Speaker 2

And Tory, can you look at that performance and go ouh pretty good?

Speaker 3

Oof? I have to close my eyes and.

Speaker 1

Say it, yes, yeah, yeah, you have to close your eyes to compliment yourself.

Speaker 3

Yeah, because you know that's hard for me. But I watched it and I was like, oh, I'm gonna be scared to watch this. And I watched I was like, oh, it was good. Good.

Speaker 2

That makes me think about like I think about like justin Timberlake's new song and he's always like kind of listening to his own song and like you see musicians all the time like I'm hearing my own song and I'm jamming to it. I'm good. But actors are always.

Speaker 3

Like, oh, I can't watch myself, like yeah, it's so true.

Speaker 2

Interesting thing, right dance Next.

Speaker 3

Week Unreal World is that the one where we do the faux real world in the beach permit.

Speaker 1

Yes, I believe so, Oh my god, I forgot about this.

Speaker 3

Yeah, it was literally, Oh my gosh, MTVS.

Speaker 1

What is it?

Speaker 3

Real world? The real world?

Speaker 2

The real world?

Speaker 1

But was this a popular episode? Did you like the unreal World?

Speaker 3

Do you remember?

Speaker 5

You?

Speaker 3

Guys not hated. I think they laughed at its favorite that like, we do a reality show within our show that like wasn't done back then, So there's something cool about it. But I think at the time people were like, what is happening?

Speaker 1

It was too meta for them.

Speaker 3

There you go. It still so good?

Speaker 4

Is well?

Speaker 1

That was a great episode. Love ten really hurt? How Yeah? You give it a ten? Ten ten ten.

Speaker 2

It's a ten ten ten because the scary storyline, Donna's storyline is a ten. Dylan and Andrea and Jesse ten and mel and Jackie. I gotta go ten.

Speaker 3

It was winning on every level.

Speaker 1

Exactly missed you?

Speaker 3

That was it? Oh yeah, it would have been.

Speaker 1

I didn't miss her, Oh I did. I had so much other things to keep me preoccupied.

Speaker 3

When does Jamie Walters come back?

Speaker 2

Oh my god, oh great question.

Speaker 3

Just two nights ago, someone stopped me on the street and they were like, oh wait wait, I live near your friend. And I was like, oh, who rap through it?

Speaker 5

And I was like.

Speaker 3

Jamie Walters, Oh yes, yes, do you still keep in touch with them? I said I do. And then he goes, okay, great, and then he goes, how's Kelly. I was like, Jenny's doing great? Am kidding? Wait?

Speaker 4

Who was this?

Speaker 3

Where was this? This was on Ventura in Woodland Hills after I got my hair done. And no it wasn't after I got my hair done. Sorry. I was with Stella. She was getting a piercing and the guy stopped and then he took and went to his car to get a camera to take a picture. And Sella was like, that was really creepy. I was like, no, it's okay. He's just that happens fans. It's hard for them sometimes to know the difference.

Speaker 1

I love that though.

Speaker 2

I love every second of that.

Speaker 1

Everybody, We will see you next week. Have a good one.
