This is seventy Sixers rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. Minus two fifths of the starting lineup. No Joel Embid, no Jimmy Butler. Yet, the seventy Sixers hit the road and the American Airlines Center in Dallas to take down the Dallas Mavericks on a two second game of a short three game road trip here towards the end of the season. Unfortunately,
they fall short one twenty two, one O two. Hello all, this is the Sixers postgame show right here on the Sixers Radio Network. I'm Divine Gibbons with you. Game number five games now remaining on the regular season. After this game here again against the Dallas Mavericks. As the seventy Sixers fall and their record now drops to forty nine
and twenty eight. Dallas Mavericks improved to thirty one and forty six after a back to back night for them, coming up real strong in the second quarter with forty one points and continuating on grabbing hold of the basketball game and route to again a twenty point victory over the visiting Philadelphia seventy Sixers. As we do head back to American Airlines Center and check in with the man who called the game live from Dallas, Texas. That will be Tom mcguinnis. And Tom like a couple of days
off since the Saturday went over. The Minnesota Timberwolves looking to again regain some of that steam that we thought the seventy Sixers could and routes to closing the season down properly unfortunately fall short with two of their starters out tonight. Yeah really so not two days off though, on honest, since sarahly just because you know, yesterday travel and you get here and you play, sure, and that's
the rhythm of the schedule. Not to correct, but just you know, game day off and that's how it goes typically after the All Star break and a lot of them have been on the road. And yeah, no, the Sixers pretty good start, JJ was on fire, up by five,
and then things just completely fell flat. And again, like my thought coming in is a lot of these guys who played well in Dallas when they came in it was the second night of a back to back, if I recall correctly, when they were in Philadelphia, and their reserves showed a lot of spirit and fight and helped them back. Even though the Sixers won the game, and without Luca and without you know a lot of different players including Hardaway and others for Dallas, those guys were
going to be prominent players in the game. And Powell and and Jalen Brunson played well, Dorian Finney Smith, I mean, Kleiber, how about sala Mesery had a career night. So those guys, they're playing with confidence. And again, these are NBA players, and they're giving an opportunity here even though their season is winding down. They're they're actually probably not trying to win. I mean as an organization, they're probably hoping to get to into that mix for the top three and the
right to make one of those top picks. So but not that's not how the players think, you know. And there you got to give them credit. They played well, and the Sixers just like I said, they fell flat and you know in the one quarter. But it was such a wide disparity forty one to eighteen. That was the game. Absolutely with JJ ready getting things going early on, it appeared, as you pointed out, that they would have
things in their favor. But sliding back to the Dallas Maverick side and players getting the best of their opportunity. Dennis Smith has moved during the trade deadline. Jalen Brunson, of course, the Villanova product. Can you see him out there playing eighteen minutes and fifty five seconds tonight, But he made the most of it as he started. Since Dennis Smith has moved on with thirteen point seven assists tonight and just running a very good offense, no turnovers
and just flowing everything for this basketball team. Yeah, let's talk about Jalen brunts for a little bit, the thirty third pick, right, I mean, last year one of the best players in college basketball. I mean, did he not win Most Outstanding Tournament Player in the well? I mean, I guess in the final game it was the young guy from from Wilmington, but I mean from Delaware, So yeah, but I mean, come on, we all watched Jalen Brunson and it's almost like the Shaun Watson. Isn't that the
quarterback Houston Texans? Yeah? And then he was with Clemson and like good is good? You know what I mean? Like sometimes these players and these these personnel types gets so wrapped up in size or this, that and the other. When if you're you know, and look, Brunson's really good. You could be called the other rookie on their team, with Luca obviously taking top honors, not unlike maybe Hurder
down in Atlanta with Trey Young. And he's really good, and he's just so effective, and he's not the fastest player, but he knows how to play the angles. He's really good off the bounce, and he was terrific. He really led their offense, even though his numbers weren't, you know, gaudy, like thirty points or whatever. He's just a really good player. And it just shows you sometimes I think some you know, the upside is so the emphasis is on that so
much with these young players. Well, here's a guy, you know who didn't play a long time at Villanova but was so effective and is obviously going to be a
really good pro player. Yeah, three years, two national championships, and certainly allowed to be happy about now getting an opportunity with the Dallas Mavericks toime again his live from the American Airline Center in Dallas, Texas, site of the Sixers lost one twenty two one O two in town, with the offense being featured, as Brett Brown pointed out to you and a lot of the others doing a
pregame coverage. Tobias Harris with twenty five points ten of nineteen, and you got to see him work a lot in the isolation in some pick and roll as well. And if this is something that we can possibly see going forward as the postseason years, with the regular offense that they have going on, the Sixers should have something really good going for them well. And Harris has that capability.
He kind of took over the role that the Sixers handled with Jimmy Butler at times when they give Butler the ball and let him come out top and have it, and Harris short more than capable of that. I don't know with Jimmy and Joel out there that you would do that, but there certainly may be times when it would be just a bias with that group out there, with Ben and JJ and whatnot. But you know, listen, it's hard. I realize the Sixers are arresting Joel and
trying to make themselves completely ready for the playoffs. But and Brett Brown has talked a lot in recent days about securing the third spot and getting rest, but it's tough when you play with a group and obviously Jimmy out with the back here where it come on? The Sixers didn't even look that good tonight, and yet you're going into the playoffs, is one of the top seeds. And I get it. They're a whole different team and maybe on Thursday we'll see it and they'll have it
just like they did against Boston. An incredible performance and a really terrific victory. When you think about it, that Boston game that literally made the Sixers season. I mean, they put themselves in position. But that's the difference right now between third and fourth or fifth, and obviously those two teams in the end, and Boston struggled, So you know, I know, when the Sixers are whole and healthy, it's
a whole different group. But boy, it's tough. I mean to see a performance like this, flat and beaten by a Dallas team that has struggled mightily since the All Star break and they come in and and really kind of blow you out. You know what I'm saying, It's different. It's a little unsettling, especially after the game last night that they had. Yeah, it's just and I get it, but it's like we've said before. I mean, you know, I watched the Warriors the other night, Bang Bay Bang.
They make threes and they're a nine point games. Tike. The Sixers don't have that explosive capability, and that's in a given game, but also you know, in a larger sense, like over the course, they're just they're just not that type of team. And maybe with Juell and Jimmy, everything's gonna be fine, and I'm sure it will be, but it's tough here. You are, like you say, five games to go, and you're seeing performances like this, and again it's based on personnel and who's out there, but it's tough.
It's not it's it's certainly it's not going perfectly in that regard. Just for my own personal opinion, it's hard to see a game like this, and I thought this might be a tough game, but I did not think it would be a twenty point defeat. Yeah, certainly would like a better performance coming off to Minnesota win and a chance to again, as you pointed out, get closer
to locking down that third seed. But Tom, we'll definitely look forward to speaking to you on Wednesday again live from Atlanta, where the Hawks just stay pesky against these seventy sixers, and I'm sure they'll give them another game as the season ends from what is it the State Farm Arena? Now it is the State Farm. Yeah, how about that? Well, Tom, have a great night and we will talk to you again live from Atlanta on Wednesday.
All right, good night, got a time again. It's live from American Airline Center in Dallas, Texas, where the seventy sixers dropped there twenty eighth loss of the season one twenty two one oh two at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks with a game high twenty six from JJ Reddick. Got really got rolling in the first half with twenty one points in the first half for the Philadelphia seventy sixer is only score five and second half four of them.
But again, as Tom pointed out, things just really got out of hand as the second quarter was really big with forty one points for the Dallas Mavericks to the eighteen.
Dallas also had a twenty six to eight run to second quarter against the Philadelphia seventy sixers to go up eighteen going into the locker room, so that really did help the Dallas Mavericks separate themselves from the seventy six or twenty five points from Tobias Harris as mentioned, with six rebounds as well in his thirty three minutes and forty one seconds, which was a team high for Philadelphia.
Justin Jackson a solid second half really exploded with twenty four points to lead to Dallas Mavericks on seven eighteen, seven of eleven shooting from the field, three of six from behind a three point line, getting to the free throw line eight times, converting seven of those for the Dallas Mavericks. On the other side, we will continue to
hear the voice of time again. It's this time in audio fashion, of course, with the highlights coming up right here on the Sixers postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. Hello, all divine givens again here on the Sixes postgame Show Live one
of Sixers Radio Network. As we get to the highlights from Dallas. In the first quarter, JJ Reddick really getting things gone again. Very good start for JJ Reddick, a three pointer and at and one eleven to eight that will be for the Dallas Mavericks. But Ben Simmons had back to back layups and going strong to the basket. Simmons attacking on Jackson, gets a round and goes to
the basket and lays it up and good. Ben Simmons a little awkward there at the end with a sidestep of the contact with Justin Jackson, but he gets it. He's got four. That was the first leave for Philadelphia at twelve eleven after the may basketby Simmons again, then Jalen Brunson with the four court layup to make it sixteen to twelve. Vin Simmons once again pushing the rebound, pushing the pace, getting a layup to make it seventeen sixteen.
JJ Reddick continues his hot shooting in the first quarter with another three pointer to make it twenty to sixteen, but also not just that. When one to close out the quarter for the Philadelphia seventy six ers, just under thirty one points per first footer, they're right online and
obviously if they score here they'll get that number. Or Boris Redda choose to three, it does exactly that, knocking down his third tray at the opening quarter, six Ers by five thirty two twenty seven, almost as if Tom McGinnis could see that when coming, JJ Reddick made it thirty two twenty seven with his three pointer right there. He finished the quarter with twelve points, four or five from the field, three or three perfect from behind the
three point line. The Sixers after one up thirty two to twenty seven, and second quarter JJ ready continues his hot shooting to make it thirty four thirty one, but the Villanova product really got things going for the Dallas Mavericks. Here JJ lost the ball. It goes right to Dorian Pinny Smith, the kleeber the Brunson right side three paull and that's good. Jaylen Brinson with five in a row before that one. That was the layout for Jalen Brunson.
His time again to talk about pushing the fast break, getting into the middle of the florid, No one stops him, gets the layup, followed by that three point to make it sixty to forty eight Dallas. At that point, Dirk Navitsky, he just keeps on going it no matter what his age is. The man can flat out shoot and here is his loan. Three point on the night, No whisky
around and good. They got it that three seconds to go in the first half, sixty eight fifty Brunson to Nobiski Dallas by eighteen momentum shot right there for Dirk Navinski got the nice bounce. Sixty eight to fifty at the break for Dallas at home. They continue to start off the third quarter right away as Justin Jackson scores things for the Dallas Mavericks to continue to push that lead, of course, for the Dallas Mavericks to make it a
twenty point advantage for Dallas. James Ennis again starting in plays four, a resting Jimmy Butler with the back issue gets a strong, strong dump Nini to shoot on the reset, Harris backing out on Powell to the quarter, Ennis driving down in a right hand jab. Nice job by James Ennis his loan basket on the night. He finished the night with four points, two or four from the free throw line, of two from deep, one of six from the field in twenty one minutes and forty seven seconds.
But you know he's gonna give you a lot of energy. The athleticism will come into play, and finishes like that will certainly help ignite the Philadelphia seventy six is going forward to Bias Harris on the night again twenty five points and scored a variety of different ways, this one from the mid range area. Here's Tobias Harris with a pull up on the wing for the Sexers, and that's good.
He's really helped the Sixers bolst of their offense here in the third eighteen total now for Tobias in the game, and it's seventy nine sixty six, showing the versatility of scoring for the wing man for the seventy Sixes. That made it seventy nine sixty six. Dallas at the end of three up again by twenty points, where the Dallas Mavericks ninety seven seventy seven and really JJ Redick makes it one hundred and ninety two with a three point
for Philadelphia. As things started to really pull away for the Dallas Mavericks and Brett Brown decided to rest his guys with Dorian Finny Finny Smith puts a capital on the night Doctor McConnell baseline right, pulled up seventeen footer for the window going who would they get a run out of here? Dorian Funny Smith a right hand throw
down one o nine eighty seven. After that basket by the wing player out of Florida, one twenty two one oh two is the final on the night Dallas wins, making their record now thirty one and forty six good wins for them back to back as again the season comes to a close for them in the NBA in
the Western Conference. In the Philadelphia seventy Sixers with five more games to go, one more on this short three game road trip in Atlanta on Wednesday, taking on those Atlanta Hawks who have two wins already over Philadelphia, led by former seventy sixers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce, doing a nice job with that young Atlanta Hawks team. They will
be ready for the Sixers on Wednesday. They do play tomorrow, but you know they'll get up for a game against Philadelphia after having the success that they in fact have had. T J McConnell led the bench unit with fifteen points on seventeen seven of ten shooting, three rebounds, one assists in sixteen minutes and fifty seven seconds. Mike Scott not you struggle a little bit tonight from the field overall,
one of five shooting or four from deep. Did add seven rebounds to go along with this four points in twenty two minutes and fifty one seconds. Bobam Arianivis thirteen sixteen of run one or four from the floor for his five points. Zaire Smith getting a little bit of action tonight to Texas native nine minutes and forty five seconds. Only one shot a temp a layup opportunity at the basket, but he was going so fast when he received the basketball from t J McConnell, kind of lost his balance
trying to get the shot up. But good to see him out there in an extended role, if you will. Four seventy to seventy six ers and seeing if we have an opportunity to get a glance at him in these next few games, just from time to time to see where Brett Brown may like to see him. Overall, Ben Simmons with seventeen points, seven rebounds, five assists, five or fifteen from the field, seven of eleven from the free throw line in thirty one minutes and thirty one seconds,
three block shots, five assists. As we pointed out, three turnovers on the night for the second year All Star point guard Joona Bolden starting in place of a resting load management Joe ellenbid career night against Minnesota tough one in the second run for him on this road trip, one of six from the field, missed every shot from the three point area O four for the rookie big man for his two points, seven rebounds and close to
thirty minutes of run on the evening. Again, seventy six or twelve turnovers on the night, not a huge number, but they did give up eighteen points off of those Missqes struggled from deep six of thirty three from the field for eighteen percent on the night for Philadelphia, got to the free throw line thirty two times, converting twenty
four four. They're seventy five percent thirty six of ninety three struggling from the field on this night, thirty eight point seven percent to the forty six point nine percent for the Dallas Mavericks, who also made six more three pointers than the Philadelphia seventy six Ers on this night. So hopefully they can bounce back and get a victory
against the Atlanta Hawks on Wednesday.
