Like, how do you deliver a team to the playoffs. It was always kind of for me in this order is how do you do your best to maintain their health? And then a close second is, you know, always keeping this spirits up they want, I want them feeling great about themselves. And then the form, it's it's the health, it's the spirit. And then are they playing good basketball? And we took a hit with Joel with a health and you know we took it just a quick one
with Dario. No excuse me available tonight, but by and Lodge, the spirit of the group has been excellent and we're playing good basketball. I think because of that. I'm sure it's all interconnected. But our ten wins I think has those types of qualities, a growth. And then because if you think that, like you look at it, the two guys aren't there. But he's not only getting the stats, but he's the leader on the field. I mean, he's telling the guys what to do. There is no doubt
about that. And I think his growth is certainly expedited. You know when he looks over and you know our all star isn't there. And then to your point, you know, Dario, we have to find some ways. And I thought I thought Arson and Ema were excellent tonight, you know, covering that Cuve came in at a fourth spot and we revisited that. I thought he was good. But Ben, you know, all over the place, his presence, his presence, his his disposition,
and lately even more his voice. I think reeks of leadership, you know, real positive trends. That he's using it like he really and it sounds simple, but it's true. He's just using it more. You know, he isn't a man of many words, and it's fine. Everybody leads in different ways. But when he's got something to say, he says it and people hear that, and then he's able to lead
through example a lot, which certainly helps the package. But the combination of just some body language using his voice getting us organized offensively, picking apart of Jim with his assists elite stuff. That's Brett Brown outside these Sixers locker room talking, among other things, about Ben Simmons. Sixers win handily here by seventeen over the Charlotte Hornets. And again now we'll send it back to the station and Divine Gibbons will begin our postgame coverage. The Sixers over the
Hornets and you're listening to the Sixers Radio Network. Philadelphia seventy Sixers. This is the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame show I Feed look about of a broadstree, Sars is Gonna Turn and getting off Matty Rolls. The Sixers postgame show right now on ninety seven five the fanatic we're still accustomed to scene in Sixers protect their home court with a twenty six and eleven home record in South Philly, but over the last two they've taken their show in the road in the South, the last being again you just heard it, a one nineteen one h two win
over the hosts Charlotte Hornets. Hello all, I'm Divine Gives and welcome to the Sixers postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network as the Sixers take care of business yet again, this time at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, North Carolina, and an impressive fashion with a one nineteen one oh two victories, shooting the lights out overall in the game, fifty one percent from the field, forty three point eight percent from behind a three point line, protecting
the basketball, and getting a group effort a win with everyone stepping up and playing their parts, and the Charlotte Horners dropped their records to thirty four and forty four in the loss, while the Sixers pick up their tenth in a row forty six and thirty now sixteen games over five hundred for the Philadelphia seventy sixers in game number seventy six. It's an impressive win. And with that we do head back to the Spectrum Center to check in with Tom McGinnis in town. We talked about a
pregame where someone needs to step up. I mentioned Rashaan Holmes, you mentioned JJ Reddick and Marco Bellnnelli and so many others, and that's exactly what they got, where five players stepped up in double figures, three of them in the twenty point margin. No, without doubt, and the odds of your team winning when three guys get twenty or more are great. And they played great, and Covington didn't shoot it well,
but really contributed in a number of other areas. Ben Simmons was magnificent, and Marco Belinelli and Reddick put on a clinic in terms of shooting the basketball and the growth that Coach Brown talked about doing the post game gathering with the media, and you can see it with Ben Simmons ten of seventeen from the floor, twenty points, fifteen and eight fifteen assists, eight rebounds and thirty one minutes of played. But every time we talk about this time,
it's the same thing. He just simply seems to control the game. What have you seen in his growth as we've gone from game one all the way to game number seventy six, Well, it's most definitely one of the things that stands out is a confidence swagger. Like, you know, he knew he could play in this league, but I don't know that he knew that he was gonna well
have to experience. And I'm not saying he didn't know, but like now that he knows he can dominate, you can just see that he gets on the balls of his feet and he just rears back with that dribble and with that speed and quickness and strength and length. It's just unbelievable how he attacks and so and then the passing, it's just he's wheeling and dealing. You know, he's not even cracking inside the file line. A lot of times, he's turning his back to the basket and
finding options, whether it's Comington or Reddick or wherever. And today he hit a lot of fade away shots, and I believe that's one aspect of his game that's going to get better to where you know, he shoots that ball without a fade away and shoots it more confidently and more consistently. But you know, you look at his numbers, he's shot over fifty percent on the year. Now again he's taking a lot of dunks and a lot of shots around the rim, but just an incredible talent and
took over the game and dominated. Like I said, there was one point where he either scored or assisted on twenty eight to twenty nine points, and that was in the late second and early third when the Sixers pulled away for good, even though Charlotte made a little bit of a mini run. And then he's a very good defensive player as well, So you know, you don't want to have to have him, you know, you want obviously a bad to be out there because of his dominance,
but Ben Simmons certainly was able to handle it. Here tonight today Tom again is joining his life from the Spectrum Center. Sixers win one nineteen one h two over to Charlotte Hornets for their sweep of this pointans in this last month where they played him four times in
this spanned time. Before we get you out of here, you look at the bench and what they've been able to do, and specifically to this afternoon, Marco Bell and Nelli just fantastic display of shooting and also getting to the basket nine of ten from the floor, seeing it from either cutting to the basket deep behind the three, getting a foul on a three point shot, and just a great added addition to this basketball team as you gear up for the postseason. Well out, he's like a
basketball sniper. In other words, he's hunting his shots. He doesn't need much space to get them off. He has an idea of you know, how to use his body and it's just incredible. Like I said, like he doesn't have the ball, you talk about ball friendly, he catches it and shoots it in like a split Second's remarkable. That's that's a world class talent right there. He really had it exceedingly. Again, the only shot he missed was with like a half a second to go at halftime,
and that that certainly goes down as a statistic. But you know, that's a desperation heave. And so otherwise he was perfect from the field. I believe he would have hit nine of nine. And you know, I guess we've become a little accustomed to Reddick, but JJ Reddick basically does the same thing, right. I mean, he's able to get those shots off and draw those falls, and he had a remarkable reverse layup JJ Reddick did and Marco
got one from Ben. But really a nice team victory to Brett Brown's point a mirror, and Earson did a great job inside. I thought Emir Johnson did a terrific job on Dwhite Howard. And you know this is these are the types of games where the Sixers at the end of these some of these seasons in recent years, did not you know, put up the greatest challenge, shall we say, they were out manned and and you know,
teams beat the Sixers. Well this now the Sixers are doing that the other teams and finishing strong and taking care of business. And that's part of the reason. You know, this was a chunk of the schedule you looked at was favorable. Well, I mean, but you got to go out and execute and get it done. And they've done that with ten straight wins. And now you come home again, Brooklyn Feistie, they're not packing it in. They had a
great win on the road last night against Miami. You go out to Detroit and it's just it's like Brett Brown said, you're in the flow, in the stream of an NBA season and the current takes you, and right now the current is going on the most positive of ways for the Sixers. Well, Tom, one of the better team wins on the season knowing what was not available to them and what they needed to get done. This afternoon, great,
great winning. Great to hear from you as all, Tom, Thank you, Okay, good night, Thanks Tom McGinnis again live from the Spectrum Center. Six is victorious one nineteen one, two tenth win in a row four year Philadelphia seventy six or sixteen games over five hundred now with a record of forty six and thirty, and you look at the standings currently, the Sixers are in fact now tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for that third spot, where both of them are sporting a forty six and thirty record.
The Cleveland Cavaliers do play the Dallas for Mavericks tonight in Cleveland, the Dallas Mavericks sitting at twenty three and fifty three, basically just wrapping up the NBA season, So we'll see what happens with that game tonight, But as of right now, the Sixers doing fact hold a tie with the Cleveland Cavaliers for the third spot in the Eastern Conference standings on the other side, we come back.
We'll get ready for the highlights and Tom McGinnis and his great game call from this very very good win from this basketball team. One one nineteen one oh two victorious over the Charlotte Hornets. I'm Vine Givens. This is the postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. Ninety seven five the fanatic Sixers win one nineteen one h two. This is the postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network.
I'm Divine Givens with you as the Sixers have picked up their tenth in a row, making their record to forty six and thirty sixteen games over five hundred. As we stand with sixteen, I'm part of me six games remaining. Next up the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday at home. Back to back fashion for the team as they after Brooklyn on Tuesday, they had to Detroit to take on the Pistons and then of course a big showdown with the
Cleveland Cavaliers next Friday. But first we get to the highlights of this afternoon's contest, where things got off to a bit of a slow start in the first quarter with both teams overall, where the Hornets went up quickly with a five oh lead. Ben Simmons then stopped that one with a quick lay in to give it a five to two score. Charlotte JJ Reddick followed up with
a three pointer to make it five five. But as Ben Simmons has done overall, finding a way to get it done, not only for himself before his teammates, this time in a different fashion. He shot it right handed, he missed it. Oh. Simmons pose a little trick. He puts it up of kid Gilchris had his back to the basket. Ben Simmons instead of throwing it to a six or threw it off kid Gilchris or gathered him back in and got the layouf big inbounds played by
Ben Simmons. As we talk about quite often with Brett Brown and his aftertime out play calls, we can't give this credit to Brett Brown. You have to give it to Ben Simmons. With get kid Gilchris guarding underneath the basket, back turned Ben Simmons recognizing that he could get the basketball off of his back, which is legal of course at being a touch by the defender catching it, establishing himself inbound going up for the layup to make it
eleven seven Philadelphia with the advantage after that point. Robert partner Rashaun Holmes active this afternoon seventeen minutes, twenty seven seconds, three or three from the floor, six points nine rebounds off of a rebound. He also converts a dunk to make it seventeen fifteen six Ers. Then mark el folds, of course, the story being him returning this week game number three for him, gaining him a four for him part of me. He shows not only can he do
it offensively, but defensively to make an impact. So folks with an impact on that play at the defensive end. Now he has the dribble, drives it on, hurting Gomes high off the glass, humping good Marquel, fol Hush. Spectacular play at both ends of the floor, and the Sixers take a six point lead, their largest lead of the game. Two of the mark el Foltz is four points on the afternoon that made a twenty six twenty one six Ers. Twenty nine twenty eight was the score after the first frame.
JJ Reddick, as Tom again has talked about during the connection that we had with him at the Spectrum Center. JJ Reddick with a great take it back reverse, layup, back over to JJ Reddick, drives it underhand, scoop lab JJ Reddick taps in that he found of youth a right to laft reverse and DJ McConnell mimicky that on
the sideline looks like an air traffic control. The old JJ Reddick with the duke reverse layup, if you will slipping underneath the basket with the left hand, if you will to convert that basket to make it thirty three thirty three tie. At that point, Ben Simmons converted a pass to Marco Bellielli for layup to make it forty one thirty four sixers. Simmons has his hands over a lot of things here in this game, of course, having
fifteen assists as you can expect. Then he also gets into a baseline jump shot to make it forty seven forty two, which was four straight baskets, four straight points four. Ben Simmons also Ben Simmons making Marco Bellnelli, as Tom again has talked about, with the difficult shot fifty six fifty nine, following up JJ Reddick fifty eight fifty one with a jump apart of me with a jump shot from Bellinelli but then Ben Simmons, showing off his athleticism to in the quarter, just got it head boom hay
reverse two head backward jamp. Ben Simmons and the Sixers sixty and the horn. It's fifty one. They jammed Kembo Walker and made him cough it up. That was the score at the half, sixty to fifty one, courtesy of Ben Simmons's reverse dunk to end the second quarter. Quarter three, much of the same for the Sixes. Robert Covington comes right out of the locker room converts the layup sixty two to fifty three. Ben Simmons with a fade away
to give him a ten point advantage. And to win without your two of your starters and two of your best players, a charge you to be very impressive. Here's Ben with a turnaround up and good again. Simmons going away for the basket, but puts it off, Arc on it and Ben is six for ten twelve points. JJ Reddick gives the Sixes at thirteen point lead with a three pointer after Simmons's jumper to make it sixty eight
fifty five. Simmons with a one hand pass to Robert Covington with basically a bullet pass right pass half court in stride to allow Robert Covington to convert the layup seventy six seventy one. T J McConnell in his minutes off of the bench eighteen minutes of play six points two points four layup on one particular sequence to make it eighty two seventy one. But then just a great sequence here on both sides of the floor for the six is starting with Covington and ending with Ben Simmons.
Covington cuts a lot of the covingtonity, jams at an alley oop jam from the baseline as Ben Simmons with the dish and from his backside he feeds it. Here's Simmons another reverse helly oop jam. He's putting on a show head North Carolina. Ben Simmons jams at eighty six seventy one after the Simmons duncan again, we talked about the atos the after timehouse calls from Brett Brown, who
won with Covington. That was a play that we've seen over the last couple of weeks converted by this basketball team, not necessarily always with the dunk, but maybe a layup from Robert Covington that made it again eighty four seventy one, followed by Simmons is down to eighty six seventy one and at that point of the game eighteen points, thirteen assists four Ben Simmons end of three ninety one seventy eight Sixes. They never really let it up at all.
Ear sound at Iliosilva another solid contribution, this time in a starting role in for an injured Dario Charge. Two free throws by Hendayez, but Iliosilva counters with the three by the Sixers. As ear sound Iliosova. Back to back double digit games. He's got sixteen points in this one, he's got four threes, and the Sixers by seventeen ninety seven eighty the Sixes JJ Reddick back to back threes. As we talk about it, Elo sound Iliosilva with the one three point in JJ Reddick follows it up to
give them the twenty point advantage. Timeout Hornets at that point. But Robert Covington, we talked about his alley oops and his dunks and the things that he's done overall in this game to help the Sixes with the advantage. One thing that we're certainly accustomed to with Robert Covington is a shot from behind the yard, Simmons with it, Collis over to coving To three balls shot in the air
and it's good. Simmons now fifteen assists. Covington gets his first three of the game and the Sixers lead by seventeen one nine two, his only three pointer on the afternoon. His time again has pointed out on nine attempts, that one, of course a big one to give them that seventeen point advantage. Thereafter, Covington with another steal leading to another Ben Simmons reverse dunk one eleven ninety four, Marco Belinelli with a off balance three pointer plus the foul one
fifteen ninety seven. Only four more points scored by the Sixers after that one nineteen one h two the final four, the team winning their tenth in a row, improving their record to forty six and thirty sixteen games over five hundred six games to go during on the regular season, as the Charlotte Hornets falls to thirty four and forty
four on the season after this particular game. Defensive job overall really good for the Sixers, even though they relinquished one hundred and two points, not really letting any of their stars go off, and Kimba Walker and Dwight Howard holding them boats to ten points of piece on six of fourteen shooting from the field, both over twenty five minutes of play, So a very good job defensively by
the Philadelphia seventy six ers. As we mentioned, five sixers in double figures, starting with JJ Reddick and Ben Simmons tied with twenty twenty points at piece, Robert Covington seventeen points, ear sign Iliasolva in for Dario charge with sixteen on the afternoon, but bark Marco Belinelli nine of ten from the floor twenty two points getting in them mix and this time pointed out the one shot that he missed was a fadal Way off balance out of bounds with
time expiring into the half, and he missed the three pointer. Okay, it doesn't really count. He was basically perfect on the afternoon with twenty two points and they needed every bit of it. At the center position in for Joel Eenbid Amir Johnson thirty minutes and thirty two seconds one of five from the floor. Not much from the offensive standpoint for the veteran big man, but that's not normally what
you have him for. It's about the defense, and as we pointed out, Dwight Howard was only four or seven from the floor for his ten points, So I would
think that Emir Johnson did a solid job overall. Other center Rashaun Holmes coming in giving that energy that he's we're accustomed to seeing from Rashaun Holmes three or three from the floor for nine rebounds, six six points on the afternoon for the young big man as the Sixers again pick up their tenth win in a row, still doing that thing on the glass with a forty four
to forty advantage over the Charlotte Hornets. The one thing that we always point out on the Sixers postgame show the assist thirty six assist on forty eight mate baskets for the Philadelphia seventy six Ers fifteen courtesy of Ben Simmons. But the one thing we always talk about with him controlling the plate pace, the way that Brett Brown wants his team to play the ball, just simply snaps and moves around the perimeter, gets a good shot for everyone
if possible, and that's what they continue to do. Thirty six assists on forty eight made baskets of fantastic stat line seventeen assists for thirty three on the Charlotte Hornets side, and that just goes to show how things are more one on one in this particular game for the Charlotte Hornets. Game was played two hours in twelve minutes in front
of seventeen thousand at the Spectrum Center. A bunch of those that you can hear here on the postgame show by a Sixers fans who made the trip down the Charlotte to make sure that they had the fans support down south for the second and final leg of this two game South road trip. Sixers win one nineteen, one h two, ten wins in a row, forty six on the season right now currently tied with Cleveland in the
third spot in the Eastern Conference standings. A lot of people to think here back at the studio, of course, Tyler Zuli engineering things here back at the Flagship station, and the great cuts heard by Sean was all the way back in Charlotte the Spectrum Center special thanks to Tom again us as always, if you're listening on ninety seventy five the Fanatic, of course, you can hear from the great Pat Egan coming up taking your phone calls on this every game, also the Final four, what you
saw last night from Villanova, and I'm sure you'll get into a lot of Phillies conversation as well. One more time Sixers win one nineteen one oh two here on the Sixers Radio Network. So thanks to everybody here, Tyler's Seawan and of course Tom again is back at the studio. I'm Divine Givens. This has been the postgame show, Sixers Postgame Show on the Sixers Radio Network.
