This is the Philadelphia Has seventy Sixers postgame show. If I can walk about about Roch freeze hards, just gonna turn them. Get it off. Natty rolls the Sixers postgame show right now on ninety seven five. The Panetic due game trip down south in the Philadelphia seventy Sixes start off in Atlanta at Philips Arena and they come away with yet another w. Hello all, it's the postgame show
here on the Sixers Radio Network. I'm divine givens. The Sixers again come away victorious tonight over the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta not one O one ninety one, picking up their ninth straight win. Another big time win for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers on the road, separating themselves as things were a little bit too close for comfort early on, but the Sixers used the third quarter yet again to separate themselves big time, coming away with the win one
on one ninety one. It is it's ten o'clock here in the Delaware Valley on the Sixers Radio networks. Less pause for ten seconds and allow our affiliates and ourselves to identify themselves here on the Sixers Radio network. See home for the Philadelphia seventy six Ers and the Philadelphia Flyers ninety seventy five. The fanatical WPE and Burlington philadelphodcasting from the ex Afinity studio only from Comcast. Sixers win one on one, ninety one, forty five and thirty Now
on the season nine wins in a row. We're going to hear at some point outside of the visitors locker room, the winning locker room, the Philadelphia seventy Sixers head coach Brett Brown as they are victorious yet again. We head back to Philips Arena again at some point later on to check in with the Sixers radio voice. You heard him throughout the contest. Tom mcguinnis. Big time performance by
Ben Simmons one more time. Thirteen points, twelve rebounds, eleven assists in twenty six minutes on six of eleven shooting for the young point guard as he picks up its eleventh triple douvil of his career, eleventh of the rookie year, now only trailing the late great Will Chamberlain for the franchise record, so it's gonna take some time to catch
up to that. But a great start to a young, promising career with Ben Simmons, and you expect to see this more and more, especially with the absence of Embiad the first test for this basketball team, as we talked about this first two game road trip down south, facing the Atlanta Hawks tonight, heading to Charlotte on Sunday for an early afternoon game against the Hornets as they continue to try to keep pace in the Eastern Conference and solidify themselves with one of the home court positions in
the Eastern Conference playoffs standings again tonight the Cleveland Cavaliers also in action, taken on the New Orleans Pelicans and nice battle in Cleveland as the Cavaliers only up one point on the Pelicans if they in fact lose tonight
to the Pelicans. With the Sixers win, the Sixers will take oversoul possession by half a game in the Eastern Conference in third place for the playoff positioning again with Embiad out and all the substitutions that you need and the impact of others that needed to help pick up
this win. Six players in double figures tonight for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers to one question, and the wonder was, how was Philadelphia Sixers head coach Brett Brown going to make the necessary adjustments and try to get things and adjust things normally for this team to maybe have a different look because of what Joe ellenb brings you with
the impact both on offense and defense. Where you have it again, six players and double figures for the seventy sixers, led by former Hawk earsign Ilia Silva, who came in early and got things started. Had the hot hand in the first quarter eleven points on eight of the sixteen shooting overall, he had eleven in the first quarter. Really had it going for the Sixers against his other former team,
the Atlanta Hawks. Playing twenty nine minutes and forty three seconds, and we talked about with Emir Johnson starting at the center position and Rashaun Holmes primary backup at the five spot for the Sixers, you may also see ear sign Iliasilva and Dario Charge play some of the Philadelphia seventy six to center minutes. And that's what Brett Brown decided to do throughout the night again coming away with the
one on one ninety one victory. Now, let's head back to Phillips Arena outside of the visitors locker room for Brett Brown that we played good defense they had, you know what, it was eighteen points in the third period. I thought our second period we held them to fourteen points. But the third period especially let us get out and go.
We wanted to really embrace the three point line. With Joel gone two of nineteen at the half, where do you tell your players and how did you leave we got that's who we are, like, if we are open, we need to shoot the ball, and well, I think we got to do a better job of offensive rebounding. That disturbed me more than two p nineteen. There are a few threes you wish you had back that were poor,
quick threes, contested threes. But to have only had I think five offensive rebounds behind that poor two p nineteen percentage, that's the thing that's not acceptable. And we are going to shoot more threes. It'll come out of us, Ruxha. It'll be organized with sort of the flow of the game. But you know, to look any deeper into it, I'm not I think that that, in fact was the thing
that let us jump out in the third period. When you have such a gap to fill at the five spot, how did you assess how all of the players who filled in tonight did there I thought they did a good job. You know, I look forward to seeing the tape with the rebounding. I thought, for the most part, defense was what impressed me. I thought in the fourth period, you know, it was poor. You know, we were up twenty eight points. I think they got it back down in the last score was ten ten points. That that
can't happen. And I think, by and large, to fill in for Joe ellenbad is obviously a difficult task. You'll know this. You'll see that we played are Signed quite a bit at some five and I thought that Amia really you know, had zero shots and had eleven rebounds. I thought, I thought he was very good. What did you think of Urson's night of a huge game for him? I thought he was good all over the place. You know, he's coming back to a former team. I'm sure he
wanted to play well. He had the opportunity to play well. We played him, you know, decent minutes. And I think him him playing out of five is a challenge for other teams. I really feel like he can cause problems defensively for them. Was with his ability to step out and stretch the floor. Sixers head coach Brett Brown. Outside of the winning locker room as the Sixes again Victoria's one on one ninety one over the Atlanta Hawks at Philips Arena in Atlanta. Now forty five and thirty on
the season. We have to special thanks and credit to our great friends at NBC Sports Philadelphia for allowing us to carry that Brett Brown press conference outside of the
locker room. He's speaking on the coaches, speaking on Ierson Eli Silvan, the impact that he had on the game tonight again in twenty nine minutes and forty three seconds, eight of sixteen from the floor overall, two of eight from behind the line, three or four from the free throw line, but causing problems defense as a matchup problem for Atlanta because of his stretchability, the way he's able to do things and work mid range, but also getting
on the glass both offensive and defensive. And that's one area that the Philadelphia seventy sixers needed to collectively come together with the absence of Joel inbid Is to control things on the glass and ear sound. Iliasova off the bench did just that by grabbing sixteen total boards, twelve in the defensive end, four on the offensive side, So a great opportunity and a great job overall for Iliasova
to come out and contribute in that way. Also not just in the scoring which he is certainly known for, also in the rebounding category. We mentioned Ben Simmons with this triple double, he notched twelve boards. Emir Johnson seventeen minutes in the starting role in place of Embid he grabbed eleven boards as well. Sixers win one, one ninety one over the Atlanta Hawks, first game of a two game trip in the South Side as they head to Charlotte on Sunday, we head back to Atlanta and Philips
Arena on the other side. As we reconnect with Tom McGinnis here on the Sixers postgame show, I'm divine given six six Ers win one, one ninety one. This is the Sixers postgame show on a Sixers Radio Network one on one ninety one. That is the final from Atlanta. The Philadelphia seventy Sixers pick up another victory there, ninth in a row, forty five and thirty on the season. Currently as we speak, tied with the Cleveland Cavaliers for
the number three spot in the Eastern Conference standings. The games still going on between Cleveland and New Orleans that will be decided in a little bit this evening, and
of course the standings will be adjusted as such. Divine givens here on the Sixers postgame show, as we head back to Atlanta from Philips Arena, Tom McGinnis again joining us in Tom, we talked about collectively doing it together to help replace Joe ellen Beads impact on the game, because no one player can do that with such a player to the skill set in standards of Joel n b. But off the bench first quarter ear sound, Ilias Silva's stepped right in and put his footprint on the game.
Well he did. He played well. He played thirty minutes. He goes eight of sixteen from the field. Of those sixteen shots, eight were threes. He made a couple, he was three or four from the nine sixteen rebounds. He had two assists and twenty one points. So he filled in, particularly on the glass where the Sixers had fifty three rebounds down atlant I had fifty nine, but the Sixers actually had fifty three in the first matchup as well, and I would think you're gonna get better shooting from
both Dario and Covington. The Sixers had six threes in the third, Cove hit one, Dario had two. Those were the only two baskets of the game. For Charge, he had six points, so I think you're gonna get more from Dario obviously going forward and the mirror started. He rebounded well with eleven rebounds. He could have been I don't know this, but again he was under the weather Wednesday, so it's possible he was less than one hundred percent and only played seventeen minutes and he did not score.
You're gonna get a little bit more than that from Amir Johnson offensively, so they did a good job. Or Seawan played twenty four minutes. He had seven points, three rebounds and two assists. But again standout performance by Simmons. JJ was great with nineteen and Marco Belinelli added eleven. Markuell look good. He had ten. So this is one of those games. Taking care of business, you should beat Atlanta.
They're struggling, They're playing an exceedingly amount of young players, and in the third quarter the Sixers showed their medal if you will, and put them away and held on down the stretch absolutely scoring another great opportunity in the third quarter to separate themselves thirty nine to eighteen in that quarter between the second and the thirds, fifty six and thirty two advantage Sixers in that area. So they're
using that again, turning it around. As we talked about it before, that used to be something we saw on the other side, and now they found a way tom out of that locker room to really learn how to set rate themselves some others well, absolutely, and not necessarily tonight, but you know, the first corner has been pretty good of late for the six Ers also, and you know, you talk about thirty nine points in the third, they only have forty seven. And the entire first half, I
thought Ben just he was cruising. He was just and I don't mean taking an easy coasting. I mean cruising through the mid court and kind of picking your battles. I mean sports are fun when you win and you compete. But Ben Simmons, he looks like he's having fun during
the throws of the game. I mean, when you can control and manipulate what you want to do, and I print your style of play on five other NBA basketball players, which is what he seems to be doing when he's coming down, wrapping that ball around his waist at center court, kind of cruising into the front court, picking as to what he's going to do with the ball and then making it work. That's how it appears to me. I mean,
he really looks comfortable, confident, and aggressive out there. It's his skill set and his abilities all come into fruition right here in the throws of the latter part of his first NBA season. Pretty remarkable. Yeah, absolutely right, And he's the one that you're probably gonna lean on more so than anyone, even though it's a collective thing. And Joel Embiid's app since Tom again is joining us from Phillips Arena six is win one on one ninety one time. We'll get you out of here on this one. As
you talk about looking comfortable. Game number three from Marquel Folks since his return, nineteen minutes for eight from the floor, ten points and again Tom no turnovers for the number
one overall pick tonight. Yeah, and I think he did play a little bit more fluidly and freely, and you know, he's an incredible athlete and that's steel like toward the end, how Dwayne Deadman now, granted he's there seven foot center and he was totally not expecting Marquel, but Folts just kind of swooped in behind him and took the ball away with ease and then circled back. The game was over.
But again they'd cut it down to ten. And he's just got some you know, a unique skill set, you know, a different kind of player like Swervey and the way he flew it and the way he floats down the court, I mean, and he made some jump shots, he made two free throws, and this is really valuable time for him. So you know, again like he's probably not gonna play
thirty minutes. He's not in the playoffs, but if he can get his feet underneath them and over these next two weeks and you know, be in a position where he could be an impact player in the playoffs, like for limited time, which I think he can based on how it's gone so far, that's gonna be I think
a tremendous asset obviously for the sixers. And the one that also stood out you described it as splitting two defenders while in the air and converting the difficult layout that was that looked like the old Marquelton when he did that. Yeah, No, he's he's a terrific talent. Great for him to be out there. And nice win for the Sixers. Not perfect by any stretch at some points in the game, but they, like I said, they took care of business and they've won nine in a row.
And like you said, Penning, the come to that Cleveland game still right in the thick of things in terms of a home court advantage and possibly even moving up to the three spot. And it all shapes up for what will be an exciting matchup next Friday at the Center when the King and the Calves come to Philadelphia on April six, no question about it. Well, Tom, you have a safe trip to Charlotte and we'll speak to you on Sunday afternoon. Good night, COmON, Thank you, goodnight Tom.
Thanks Tom McGinnis again live from Philips Arena as the Sixers come away with another w nine in a row, one on one ninety one over the Atlanta Hawks on the other side. You just heard the man himself. We'll get to some of the highlights from the game, called by Tom McGinnis. Sixers win one, one ninety one. This is the Sixes postgame show right here on the Sixes
Radio Network. The hottest team in the NBA. Pardon me in the Eastern Conference, that would be You're Philadelphia seventy six is winners of nine straight for your home team, as they are nine and one in their last ten, latest being of course, tonight beating the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta one O one ninety one, improving to forty five and thirty on the season, seven games remaining, and they are in the playoff push. Here for positioning at this
stage of the season, I'm Devine Givens. This is the postgame show and we get ready to head to the highlights. As things got started in the first quarter, Sixes got off to an early lead, back and forth in the Atlanta Hawks decided they wanted to make a push. But as Tom Againn has pointed out, making a statement on how the pace of this game will be played, is Ben Simmons six Is Baul McConnell across mid court to Simmons, Ben charge by stop that amount of Ben Simmons right
out beach trade, slap the ball, time out hard. What do you got cooked? Fot five straight points for your starting point guard Ben Simmons. That made it fourteen to twelve after that fast break dunk Damian Lee of course from Drexon University, also went to Louisville in his college career. He then made a layup to make it eighteen sixteen. Earson Ilias Silvia came in off the bench and he started off high, then whether on the backdown looking for Irson.
Iliosolvia gets the screen launches of three, and that's good. That's the first triple of the mink by the sixers. Simmons already five assists nineteen eighteen sixers at that point. After Iliasilvia's three, Ben Simmons getting into the mix of a little more with a fadeaway jumper to make it twenty three twenty two. Markulle Folks inserted makes his impact immediately with the layup thirty to twenty seven. That was the score at the end of the first quarter. Iliasilvia tonight,
as we pointed out, twenty one points. Eleven of those came in the first right out of the gate. Again, Markulle Folks made it thirty to twenty seven. He did not stop there when he got into the open floor. In the second here's Marquel knocking away. Now Folts on the runout faults in the Malankos up for jam and he Dumstaball. Markl Foat slams it with a forty and the crowd is bussy, very encouraging to see get into the open floor takes some of that body contact finished
strong at the room. Thirty two twenty nine six is a lighter quarter as it was, as they were only seventeen points put up by the Sixers fourteen by the Hawks at the end of two forty seven forty one. But in the third quarter, as has been the case as of late fourth to Sixers, they really started to put it on Dario Scharz. A quiet night, but a much needed bucket here to start things off. Sixes need eight substantial run to kind of jump start this second half.
Here's Covington faking the three to the corner Dario. He gets a shot off and that's good charge with his first field goal in the game, and that they did. They went on a nice thirteen to two run Ben Simmons. Then he gets a steal in the dunk to make it sixty to forty six. Robert Covington also a little quieter night for the Sixers swing player sixty seven forty four after he made three pointer Ben Simmons. We know
about the triple deuvil, his eleventh of the season. Here's where he converted that last point, that last assist to Rashaun Holmes Simmons with another rebound, his twelve dead behind his back at mid court. Simp's no look pastor for Shaw. Triple doubble for sevens. There's your rookie of the year. A slam by Rashawn very under control all night, only twenty six minutes and thirty seconds to put up the thirteen points, twelve rebounds and eleven assists, only two turnovers
after so much ball handling on the evening. After that play, it made his sixty nine to fifty one. JJ Reddicks jumper towards the end of the third quarter made eighty six to fifty nine. Again. That was the score after three into the fourth, the game pretty much in hand after the six is posted thirty nine points in the third frame. Mark hell folks getting those extended minutes that Tom and I talked about. Here is something encouraging from a jumper from folks. Mark heel folks hanging the scoring
the field goal. He feels like he could get to any spot on the floor he desires with that dribble he's four for six and all, by the way, that was a beautiful jump shot. Ten points on the night four your number one overall pick. Again, Tom pointed out nineteen minutes of eight from the floor for his ten points triple threat. He understands that he can get to anywhere on the floor and get the basket at that
he likes. And again that one right there just shows that gradually easing himself back into the Marquelle folks that made him the first overall selection in twenty seventeen NBA Draft. In this past June one, ninety six Ers win tonight forty five and thirty now on the season, currently sitting in the fourth spot again as the Cleveland Cavaliers do in fact beat the New Orleans Pelicans one oh seven, one h two, so they are now forty six and
thirty on the season. For the Cleveland Cavaliers and Sixers are now forty five and thirty obviously again half a game back behind the third spot. Cleveland Cavaliers making a big matchup next Friday at the Center a week from tonight, as the Sixers and the Cavaliers will in fact face off next week and sure that will probably have playoff
positioning at that point of the season. Next Friday, again back at the center, So deeper dive into the box score, we look at the turnover battle as the Sixers pretty good tonight, fifteen turnovers only resulting in eleven points for the Atlanta Hawks eleven seventeen turnovers for the Atlanta Hawks, seventeen points for the Sixers off of those. Again, the advantage on the glass tonight Atlanta fifty nine, Sixers fifty three, So as good as they were on the glass, the
Sixers Atlanta with the advantage tonight. But the one thing we do point out pretty much every postgame show, the assist and the field goal makes. Thirty four assists on forty two mate baskets. So they continue to do what they've done all season long, which is shared the basketball,
get each other easier shots. And again that's what they did tonight, thirty four assists on forty two makes for the Piladelphia seventy six is Robert Covington ten points on the evening, the quiet night shooting saying for Dario Schartz for six points on two of ten. So you expect them to bounce back, possibly on Sunday against the Charlotte Horners. No points former Johnson, but did give you some good defense and eleven rebounds in this his seventeen minutes of action.
JJ Reddick really got it going in the third quarter, totally nineteen points on the evening for the veteran sharpshooter, and again Ben Simmons a triple double thirteen points, twelve rebounds, eleven assist, his eleventh of his career off the bench where you're looking at Marco Belinelli fourteen shot attempts, the second most on the evening, five or fourteen overall for eleven points, ten points for Mark hell Folks as we mentioned, twenty one and sixteen rebounds for Earson, Ilia Silva's solid
contribution for the former Atlanta Hawk. Four points for t J. McConnell in fourteen minutes, two of three from the floor, So a solid bench effort overall for the Sixers. They needed it. With no one bad tonight, no Mayor Johnson point production and a quiet night from both charge and in Bad totally sixteen points combined, they needed the effort that they got from the bench tonight, especially against the team like Atlanta where you should win this game, as
they did. Biggest lead of the night, twenty eight points. The Hawks tried to surge late, but a little too late for the Atlanta Hawks as things were pretty much in the bag for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers, coming away with the win one on one ninety one, their ninth in a row, forty fifth on the season, seven games remaining. Next up on his two game trip down south, the Charlotte Hornets. One o'clock tip in Charlotte against Kimball Walker,
Dwight Howard and the Charlotte Hornets. Sell out crowd in Atlanta for the Sixers and Hawks tonight. A lot of people to think here back at the studio, starting with Jay Gray, the great engineer here as always, Alan Yates for doing what he does with the audio highlights. And back in Atlanta at Philips Arena, Tom McGinnis. We will be back on Sunday, one o'clock tip in Charlotte Sixers Hornets again, another opportunity, the fourth and final matchup for
this team. It's almost like this is their own playoff series, having played three times in the month of March and one to start off the month of April. So we will talk to you on Sunday again as the Sixers traveled to Charlotte to face the Hornets. If you're listening on ninety seven five to the fanatic, I will stay on with you. We will carry you until midnight. Taking
your reaction to this win. Still in the fourth place, but again another solid one as you should pick up this w even with them without embed a necessary win tonight, winning your ninth straight hottest team in the Eastern Conference. So we will come back on Sunday Sixers Hornets for another matchup one o'clock tip, but different start times. Will make sure you guys tune in one o'clock tip time for Sixer's Hornets on Sunday four. Alan Yates, Jay Gray,
Tom McGinnis. I am divine givens. This has been the Sixers postgame show on the Sixers Radio Network following the ship. Sure's when Tom McGinnis had a chance to catch up with one of the players afterwards. And I believe we're gonna be joined not courtside, but in a tunnel leading to the locker room by Arson ilosel Erson. Tom McGinnis, thank you for stopping by. Nice victory for you guys. Tight first half, but that third quarter was you you had a great game, Ben was good your thoughts after
this one tonight. I mean, we knew we have to come up strong, obviously with an offense with the joy and bad and you know we we we knew we're gonna be struggling to be defensive and offense for you. That's why we have to, you know, come up. Everybody have to be ready. I think that the whole bench, you know, contributing the right way. Obviously when you play you know, team against like that, you know they obviously
they have nothing to lose. Uh, It's why we have to, you know, kind of come up when we can teach them strung. Ben just walked by it. He makes it look easy. Simmons, at times, does any of your son, No, He's amazing and obviously this is by one of the strengths you know in the open court. Let's try to you know, operate him and then try to give him on space and you're rebounding was terrific. What was up
with that tonight? I think it's all about the energy, you know, like I said, you know, the joys all we have to everybody have will come off, you know, bringing something to the table, all right. I think you know, just help you in my team mask, get offensive and defensive rebounds. Last thought here said, and we thank you for joining us. But you were here and now you're
with the Sixers. It's been quite a difference, isn't it It is it is, I mean, winning is always still is finding, you know, in a situation, you know, hopefully looking forward to another two like you know that. No, no, no no, We'll go to the finals. Congratulations, thank you very much your side, give you a silver. We'll slam dunk in the headset final one on one ninety one six Ers. We'll be back with postgame coverage. Devon Gibbons will join us from our flagship station ninety seven five
The Fanatic back in Philadelphia. We'll return with more coverage live from Atlanta. I'm the Sixers Radio Network.
