This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. Finally, the seventy Sixers take down the Boston Celtics, and what a way to do it. One eighteen one fifteen. A fantastic effort by the Sixers to get the win tonight. They're sixth straight, extending their season high winning streak. They now leave the Boston Celtics by four games for third

place in the Eastern Conference standings. Sixers pretty much looking real good for one of the top four seeds in the East going into the postseason. After playing Game number seventy two tonight and just some of the sub layers

of this one. You had Joel Embiid putting the seventy Sixers on his back essentially for the first three quarters of regulation, and then you're thinking someone else or some other people are going to have to step up down the stretch to see this through for the seventy Sixers

to get an elusive win over their art rival. Jimmy Butler off the chart fifteen of his twenty two points in the fourth quarter, he had the back to back three pointers to tie it up at one oh five free throws with four minutes to go to pull the seventy Sixers within a point. He then had that driving lamp to make it one eleven one oh eight. He assisted on the ensuing Tobias Harris dunk that broke a tie and putting the Sixers up one thirteen to one

to eleven. Jimmy Butler's so huge in this game. And then of course that pose he struck after hitting the jumper on the wing that proved to be the final basket of the night for the seventy Sixers in the one eighteen one fifteen win. So, yeah, someone tell me about Jimmy Butler, right. I think the guy's pretty good, especially in crunch time. Look at these last couple of games and how he's factored in fourth quarters. He has been precisely when the seventy Sixers sought and acquiring him

all the way back in November. Let's go back to Joe el Embiid, right, So he didn't play last night in Charlotte, which means the last two games he's been in having to come against the best team in the NBA on the road, the Milwaukee Bucks, and all he did that night was put up forty fifteen and six, and then tonight you have your chief rival in the building. You're trying to break this hecks and change your fortunes and further boost your momentum going to the postseason. His

numbers once again outstanding thirty seven twenty two. He had a block shot, four assists plus twelve in the game. But more than that, something that Brett Brown alluded to in the postgame press conference comments that we heard the mindset of Joel the last two games he's played against the Bucks in Boston. These have been big time, prime

time national spotlight games. When everyone's looking at you. You're the best player on the team arguably, and how are you going to show up in games like this that mean this much, both in terms of the standings and also in the holistic sense to try and get everything good for the postseason. Joel embiid the man. The last two games he played forty one minutes. Tonight he went

twenty of twenty one from the free throw line. And really, I mean you can say, yeah, the Sixers won the game because of their fourth quarter and because of what Jimmy Butler did, and you know, Tobias played better in the fourth quarter and all that, But I think the fact that the Sixers were able to even stay close with Boston, which led by as many as fifteen in this game, goes directly back to what Joe was able to do from the foul line when the Sixers were

battling uphill for most of the game. And then also what the Sixers did on the glass, and obviously in large part of that had to do with Joel Embiid who had sixteen rebounds in the game. Ben Simmons with a key basket late He finished with thirteen points, eight rebounds, and seven assists. He was able to break the tie at one thirteen one thirteen. Tobias finished with twenty one and eight. We talked about Joel jj Reddick with seventeen points and the Sixers get eight points from the bench.

I mean, I think if the way you look at this, especially last night and just how things are trending, Sixers are going to need the starters to be at full strength heading into crunch time in the postseason. But you know what, they have stepped up and come through Ben Simmons to Bias Harris at the mic, So why don't we hear from them? If we can get them what goes on on the court. But what is he like in to huddle Lake compared to I guess earlier. I

think I don't think it's demeanor change. I just you know, he's comfortable. Um, I think he's more comfortable. It's sort of in that in that static set, um, where we're playing in a sort of at a slower pace, there's a there's a real value and having someone who who's capable of making plays, um, you know against the set defense. UM, somebody who can shoot over the top of guys and

and really take advantage of mismassage mismatches and um. You know, I don't know that you want to play that way for four quarters, but certainly at times going down the stretch, Um, there's value in that change. Now, you guys have only played the next samur eight games together. It's just starting five. But is this kind of an example that you guys are capable of everything? Sure, I still think we're trying to figure things out a little bit, and I think, um,

I think we all sort of have to learn. I think just the flow of the game at times is a little different than some of us. You know, I say me too. I mean some of us, you know, we can go five six possessions without really touching the ball. But yet you know, you look up and you're like, oh, we have sixty two at half time or not tonight.

But I'm saying just in general and um, and so those are sort of, you know, the things we just got to keep sort of learning about playing together because I think the talent is there and there's a real chance for for cohesiveness because I do think our our skill sets compliment each other. That your most what does the thing you guys have to work on, I guess at the most over the next three weeks. Is it just a matter of playing together and actually getting games

on of your balance before the playoffs. In terms of preparing for sure, I mean I think defensively, communication probably is the biggest thing. And then just continuing to evolve our execution offensively. Marcus, where are your p seventy Sixers shooting guard JJ Reddick finishing with seventeen points in tonight's game as the seventy Sixers fend off the Boston Celtics, overcoming a fifteen point depicite one eighteen to one fifteen seventy six and now forty seven and twenty five. Boston

drops to forty three and twenty nine. We'll talk with Tomm Aguinnis next. The postgame showing the Sixers written network. Jimmy Butler has it. There's a three second differential. If the Sixers score here, they could probably win the game. Jimmy Butler with it. Ten seconds to go on the shot clock. Ten seconds now to go in the game.

Jimmy with a dribbles. Jimmy loses it. He almost fell in abouts. He shoots it. It's good. He made it with an under five seconds ago. Jimmy Butler has come up, dude ten. The crowd roars, that is what a closeout performance sounds like. Jimmy Buckets getting it done with fifteen points in the fourth quarter, seventy Sixers beat the Boston Celtics one eighteen to one fifteen. I'm Brian Seltzer. We are rejoined now by Tom McGinnis. Tom, what a fantastic

NBA basketball game tonight, it really was. And Tobias Harris hit the nail on the head. He joined his post game and he said, you know what, we never quit because up fifteen and Boston was just unbelievable. And I would think some of these twenty thousand fans were like, oh, brother, here we go. We just can't beat Boston. And yet the Sixers just kept with it. And you know I noted this earlier, Brian, but that Marcus smart thing that

I think that cost Boston. Not only did they lose one of their top players he started in this game, but and to that we just heard. I saw on the old Twitter sphere from from Brad Stevens. He was

quoted saying after the game, I'm disappointed him. We needed him. Yeah, no, and I thought he was trying to like make a statement the way he was like kind of taunting and bead and that don't get me wrong, Like I said, that screen by Joel could have been called in the legal screen probably should have been, but that wasn't I mean, so I'm gonna say it wasn't like a real dirty play, you know what I mean. But the push of the back was and then he was like, you know this bravado.

He was more intent on personal or so it appeared, you know, the personally showing a bead, you know what what he could kind of married he what well, it cost his team big time and in bed, like I said, he had eight points in a row for the sixers there, and Joel had a stretch in the first half of

fifteen and seventeen points in a row. And not only did it cost him those points, but Smart was out for the game with Baines already on the shelf with an ankle, and you know, and also that kind of thing like it's like in an Allen you see a fight on the playground that you're not even involved in. So I don't see you a whole lot of playground scrapes growing up. But whatever, I'm just saying, surprised in

the tough streets he gets parked. Baby, what I'm saying is it ratchets up you're adrenaline, you know you're on the outside and get fired up. I think it fired up the Sixers like, oh yeah, you're gonna do that to our big guy. And they came out and then Harris was big obviously in the fourth. But Jimmy Butler, it's uncanny. I mean, he's so good down the stretch and you're like, jeez, if he did that for the under thirty six minutes, he'd be Will Chamberlain. He was

just dobbing it. I love that little stare he got into that Kecter's crouch after making that one big shot and froze their strike a pose. I mean, Butler just really this was, like you say, by all accounts, an awesome game and a great result and an exciting win for the Sixers and a big win in that you know, like I said, and you noted to the four game separation in the standings now and the Sixers, Hey, this is the point last year where they took off and one sixteen in a row. They won six in a row.

Here they're doing an outstanding job with nine to go one eighteen one, fifteen the final score the seventy sixers. And it's funny when you say it now they take one game out of four against the Boston Celtics this year. But this is timing. This is you know, everyone says it, and it's true. It's how you are playing when you get to the time of the year that matters most. And this is now, if I'm not mistaken, it's seven and one with the current projected playoffs starting lineup, and

it's been working. They have found ways together and I mean Joel just what he was able to do from the foulon was incredible. Well, and you go back to the starters and the record together, and I'll go back and borrow a phrase from JJ Reddick's commentary, it's not like how you want to play all the time. But this group, the starters had sixty four the last sixty five points and all but like six or eight points in the game from that first five, and so unbelievable

by the group that first five. But also you just know in the postseason, with foul difficulties and whatever else may come up, that you're gonna need that group, and Mike didn't have a big offensive game, TJ struggled, And again this is a McConnell that, in addition to the others but basically helped you win Game four in this series last year with Boston and then started and played exception well in Game five in Boston. But in Bed, I mean he got to the line quite a bit.

I mean, making twenty out of twenty one is huge. But he was really good. I mean, he was just a very very top all star performer in this game. And he carried the sixer strop much of this game. And again it shows, like Brett Brown said, it just shows how much he wants it, how much he wants to carry the mantle for the franchise, and he showed

it big time here tonight. Thirty seven twenty two. The totals for Joel Embid twenty of twenty one from the Falline seventy six ers survived Kyrie Irving's thirty six, Al Horford's twenty two. I mean, that's the other thing, Joe with that block on Kyrie and Iso down the stretch, I mean, that's and that's so you think about that, Okay, in a vacuum. That's so impressive. The guy was the

primary defender essentially on Jannis in the game on Sunday. Yeah. Right, And then you know you have to give Boston credit. I mean, what they've done to the six Ers over the years, certainly the last two years, is they create these switches that create for them what they feel are favorable match How many times tonight did Embed guard Kyrie Irving out front, So it's twofold. One you're pulling Joel away from the basket, and then two you're guarding a

guy who's unguardable. With the way Irving was playing, particularly early in this game. I mean, he got that switch and he bangs into three, he makes in another three, and then he proceeds to go one of eleven from three. But to your point, and it's kind of like a microcosm of how the six has played in the game and that they didn't quit, they kept coming back. Kyrie takes Joel off the dribble, but in being able to

get in there and block that shot. So you know, he does a lot of things that are just incredibly athletic and just mind numbing when you watch a player in speaking of and be of that size, that height, that weight, and that ability and agility to make the physical plays that he does is just astounding. And that's that's why, in part why twenty thousand people show up. And again, this is great on the radio. It's basketball

lends itself to television unlike any other sport. But to be here, I mean, this is why you're a season ticket holder. This is why you get on a waiting list to become one. It is an incredible atmosphere and it just coursed through your body with what went on here down the stretch with this win over Boston. We will leave it at that. I believe we have a couple more players coming to the podium in just a

few moments. Tom Againnis, thank you very much. We'll speak with you on Saturday when the seventy Sixers go up against the Atlanta Hawks in Atlanta. Thank you, goodnight. You got it down here at the

Center tonight. What a game. Let's listen back. Started off rather disappointing and disturbing because the Celtics they were clicking on all cylinders, shooting the lights out of the ball. Kyrie Irving was going nuts, but Tobias Harris had a very solid first quarter. It beat in pain shoving. Here's allowed to Harris at an LU camp to Bias hairs up, top down, hard good feat by Simmons. Sixer's tied at twenty one under five to go. Yes, But at the end of a quarter it was the Boston Celtics leading

the seventy six Ers thirty nine to thirty. Boston were going to lead by as many is fifteen points before the first half was done. Mike Scott trying to keep things close. Download who Marcus fourth clock by Simmons in a big way. Now Bet with the ball. Simmons on a drive right at Harford leans it. Oh Bellot shot no good. He snatches his own rebound. He gets it. Download out to Scott quartered three by Mike Scott. Scott a free ball climb out busted. Bet Simmons putting his

thumbprint on the ball. Game. It's a nine point game, and the cargoes crazy. Sixty to fifty one. Seventy sixers trailed by eleven sixty nine fifty eight at the end of the first half. In the third quarter of the seventy sixers, it was so much, Joel, It was so much getting to the free throw line and beginning the slow climb back up the hill. And Joel and Beat, of course he was an essential part of it. On the drive and beat his foul by Tatum and a ten What a shot by and Beat, and he can

tie the game. He gets up and looks at the crowd and waxes and next fingers he did it, tied up at eighty two a piece. Let's move on to the fourth quarter seventy six Ers one of the final frame, trailing ninety to eighty five. This was time for Jimmy Butler. Butler guarded by Kyrie. You'll rise for another threak. It's good, back to back praise Jimmy Bucketts tie game one oh five, one oh five, just under five oh five to go at Butler delivers. That was with about six minutes to

go in the game. The seventy Sixers and Celtics were neck, and Boston actually went back up one away to one oh five. Butler hit free throws and then the seventy Sixers got an alley featuring Tobias Harris diming out Joe l Embiide, and there was an opportunity for Jimmy Butler to further increase the league one o nine, one away. Butler, with an outside right Harris comes to screen, tend to shoot.

Jimmy Butler against Kyrie Irvy, How good is this? Here's Butler on a drive in the way left hand lamp good. He went right by Kyrie. Irby's looking at Boris like give me some hell man. It's Jimmy Butler. One eight seventy six Ers Boston would not go oa. Jason Tatum would tie it up at one thirteen. Ben Simmons, what do you got? Ben Simmons with it, shot clock down to nine. Ben drives it in the lane, puts it up, and he back to the kind of fount on Morris

Simmons going to the basket. Eddie stares it. Simmons hits the free throw. One sixteen, one thirteen. This right now, right here is the sequence that decide of the game. Thirty five seconds to go, seventeen to shoot. Here's Irving on a drive in the night. He gets round it, Beat blocked it. Morris gets the ball Forrest with a stepback not short, and it beat pulls down the rebound. Jimmy Butler has it. There's a three second differential. If the Sixers score here, they could probably win the game.

Jimmy Butler with it. Ten seconds to go on the shot clock. Ten seconds now to go in the game. Jimmy with a dribble. Jimmy loses it. He almost fell in about he shoots it. It's good. He made it one hundred five seconds ago. Jimmy Butler has come up huge and the crowd roars. He got into a crouch stuck a pose after sticking the eventual game winning basket. Huge moment for Jimmy Butler the seventy Sixers, one of

the newcomers this year, putting the Boston Celtics aways. The seventy Sixers beat Boston for just a fourth time in the last twenty two meetings going all the way back. You know you include regular and postseasons. The seventy Sixers the fourth win in the last twenty two tries against Boston. What was it that Lebron James said the first time? That's right, we'll clean it up because it's PG radio.

It's about darn time for the seventy sixers. They went it despite shooting just under thirty eight percent from the field. Boston shot forty seven percent in the first half, though they were up at one point around the sixties. So the Sixers outscoring Boston the second half sixty to forty six. The defense improving Sixers with eleven of thirty three going down from outside the arc Boston twelve of thirty two. Pretty even there, I mean this right here is pretty

much the game in terms of offense. The Sixers thirty nine of forty three from the foul line Boston thirteen

of sixteen and the Sixers. They were plus eight on the glass, plus seven on the offensive boards and the only committee of the Sixers nine turnovers same total as Boston, just one turnover in the fourth quarter from the seventy Sixers, tremendous Joel and b thirty seven points, twenty two rebounds on the strength of twenty of twenty one free throw shooting, ridiculous Jimmy Butler twenty two points, fifteen in the fourth quarter, twenty one for Tobias Harris. He was seven to seventeen

from the field. Ben Simmons with thirteen eight and seven, also two block shots and three steals. Seventy six Ers got seventeen from JJ Reddick. They survived Kyrie Irving's thirty six, twenty from Terry Rozier and twenty two from Al Horford for Tom againis Brian Seltzer. See you later here on the Sixers Raider Network.
