This is the Philadelphia Has seventy Sixers postgame show. I can look about Abu Roch fries Hards just gonna turn him. Get it off, Patty rolls the Sixers postgame show right
now on ninety seven five. The Fanatic be a start off the weekend as this game had drama, intrigue, physicality, spectacular individual play in most important, a seventy Sixers win as they defeat the visiting Brooklyn Nets tonight one, twenty one sixteen and improved to thirty eight and thirty on the season after winning their second straight game and the second as much to Atlantic Division foes. Welcome to the
Sixes postgame show. I'm Devine Givens. During our time together, We're here from sixeres head coach Brett Brown outside of the Sixes locker room. Check back in with seventy Sixes radio voice. Time again it's at the center for some extra thoughts and later on some of the games highlights. On the second night again of a back to back for the Sixes, Brooklyn gave the seventy Sixers everything they
can handle as they battle until the very end. In this game, again high drama, just simply intrigue, as the Sixers you could say maybe had a little bit of some tired legs, you know, defensively, they were not as strong as we are accustomed to seeing. But they found
a way to get it done. And again the birthday boy joellenbad As Tom mc ginnis alluded to twenty four points and nineteen rebounds in thirty three minutes of play, six of twenty three from the floor, perfect from the free throw line with eleven of eleven, and he came up big at the end, knocking down huge free throws at the end, playing solid defense overall, getting a key block or during a drive on Spencer Dinwiddie as Again, this one came down to the very end with the
Brooklyn that's trying to find a way. They're not playing for much again, They're just simply playing to get better each and every night. Look at some of the young players that they have. That's what head coach Kenny Atkinson and company are trying to do. And they came out and gave it everything they have and they took the Philadelphia seventy Sixers, again hopefully a playoff team to the very end as they battle battle and kept battling until the seventy six is finally came away with the victory
one twenty one sixteen. Again, in terms of individual play, Ben Simmons really got things started for the seventy six is fantastic tonight in thirty seven minutes of play, ten of seventeen from the floor, twenty one points, twelve assists, eight rebounds this two rebounds. Shy of yet another triple double, this would have been his third straight again, remember he had two straight after notching the one against Indiana on Tuesday and last night in New York against the New
York Knicks. A triple double back to back nights for Ben Simmons, his seventh and eighth tonight just fantastic. He set the tone early, got to the basket, stayed aggressive and ultimately helping the Philadelphia seventy six is once again improved to thirty seven and part me thirty eight and thirty Now on the season. When we come back, take a quick break, check back in down at the center. Check in with Brett Brown. Also connect with Tom McGinnis.
As the Sixers win this game one twenty to one sixteen. I'm divine givens. This is the postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network one twenty one sixteen. That is the final in front of a sellout crowd yet again at the Center tonight as the Philadelphia seventy Sixers beat the Brooklyn Nets and improved to thirty eight and thirty
on the season. I'm hello, I'm divine Givens. This is the Sixers postgame show as we await the head coach Sixers head coach Brett Brown, and also we'll try to reconnect with Tom McGinnis if we do in fact halftime and when you also dive a little deeper into the box score of what the Philadelphia seventy six was able
to do in this highly competitive game. JJ Reddick was solid as well for the seventy Sixers, with twenty three points on the evening in thirty minutes of action, seven to thirteen from the floor, three of six from behind a three point line, six of seven from the free throw line, and it just very very solid overall, stretching the floor, making Brooklyn have to defend him, making them have to account for JJ Reddick every time he was out on the floor. So just overall it's a very
good job by JJ Reddick tonight. Ben's Robert Covington twenty three minutes. A little lighter in the minutes department for Robert Covington. What we're accustomed to is a little more over thirty minutes for him. But an efficient game four or five from the field, two or three from behind the ark, and very very deliberate and smart with where the shots we're gonna come from when he felt like
he needed to take those shots. Defensively, he had his hands for I mean, he had to check Ronde Hollis Jefferson at times, Damarri Carroll and Spencer Dinwiddie also Carris Lavert very active players for the Brooklyn Nets, and overall, Robert Covington was simply pretty good tonight for the Philadelphia seventy six. Has had some key shots for the team down the stretch and made a big layup when the
seventy six is needed it most. And Robert Covington again solid night overall for ten points and some solid, solid defense for the Philadelphia seventy six ers. Dario Charge four of ten from the field, nine point six rebounds for the starting power forward off the bench. Justin Anderson came in very early first quarter, connecting on three to three pointers four seven overall from the floor, three or five from behind the arc and eosign Iliasova nine points for him,
Marco Belinelli quieter night with five points. TJ. McConnell adding six off the bench in fourteen minutes to play, plus two key free throws for the reserve point guard. And should we get ready to check back in with Tom Againnis down at the center, and let's get ready to go to Tom again us and check in with Tom and Tom again. We talked about it earlier and you
said it, you pointed out perfectly. You cannot overlook got teams like this that are playing to stretch out for the end of the season, not much to play for, but they're playing with their pride. And again the show tonight in the six is tough win one twenty one sixteen. Oh yeah, did we go to coach yet, Debon? No, he still has not come out. Okay, I think he has. Let's go to Coach Brow. Let's go playing it. You know, we we we we have struggled defending them. I give
them a lot of credit. I think that our guys, you know, have been quite exceptional in fourth periods. Sometimes you hate arriving at the fourth period the way that we did. But I thought that that we executed quite well offensively, especially in the fourth tonight. I think this has ceased low for you guys. What did you see there? And how much rolling about? But I think that we're just so mindful of, you know, trying to arrest that. Um.
We we played a lot out of our motion. We avoided a lot of like you know, static sets and h I think that, you know, moving people around and trying to make some passes U simple. Um. We had a big turnover at the end, you know, with JJ trying to get Ben at the uh at the rim with about a minute thirty left, I'd called the time out. We tried to run a pick and roll play with
those two guys, and we just weren't successful. I think, by and large, just trying to be aware and conscious we have to get better at that area that you guys are able to come back league, especially team and playoff. I think it it lets them know because we've been on the other side of that as well, that we do have the people. I believe we have the structure.
They have shown they have the poise to be able to walk a game down, you know, I liked what they did situationally, you know, fouling appropriately when we were up three and waiting and waiting and then TJ you know, used a foul um. I thought that the defensive rebound
Joelhead on them miss free throw was big. I feel like, sort of schematically, you know, we all feel comfortable as a team that we can walk a game down, and those guys I thought last night and tonight did that, especially to night the books of key loss of the delay as presidents felt in the way when they're making those shots about what he is on how you change the game for you, I mean, we can all go home. You're right, it's true that that sentence is true. He
makes he makes us complete. He is a complete difference maker. Uh you look at twenty four and nineteen. You know those are massive stats by any standards. It was his birthday today, as we know, and it was a good gift to get a win tonight six as head coach Brett Brown outside of the outside of the winning locker room again, his team picks up the victory one twenty one sixteen improven to thirty eight and thirty defeating the Brooklyn Nets tonight and as we go back now to
the center and check in with Tom mckinnis. Once again, Sorry about that, Tom, Tom, as I was trying to ask you the question before we got the coach on you. You alluded to it earlier when we had the pregame show and you pointed out not to overlook a team like the Brooklyn that's a lot still to play for, most importantly in their pride, and that's exactly what we got tonight in this tough win one twenty one sixteen over the Nets. Well. Absolutely, and like New York, they
have guys that can score the ball. I would say this though both teams have struggled this year and they have not closed out games, and certainly, you know, as Sixers fans, we know over the last few years for the Sixers that's been an issue. And so when you're I don't know if accustomed to losing, but you know,
you kind of get acclimated. Where can they make a play to get over the up end that's couldn't So you've got to credit the Sixers there, and like Brett Brown said, you know, to be able to walk a game down, I mean, this is winning is all that matters, you know. I mean to be able to come away with a victory. The Sixers, you know, again marching up to standard, putting themselves right in the thick of things in the middle of the race. Now just a half
a game behind Washington. If by chance Indiana beats the Wizards tomorrow, the Sixers will be tied for fifth. How about that? So really important at this stage of the season to take these opportunities against teams that have struggled sub five hundred records and as I say, take care of business. And you had key performances from the Sixers
up and down the line. The free throws were huge, twenty two free throws in the second half and McConnell and to be sealing the deal with four in a row down the stretch and tom when you talk about how everything went offensively and also defensively, Ben Simmons really got things started for him tonight again twenty one point twelve. It's is two shy of a triple double, having eight rebounds,
and we see a different Ben Simmons. Sometimes he's selective and getting everybody going, and he did that as well with the twelve assists, but he really got it going aggressively of offensively, no doubt, and he's getting that underneath the foule line, off the dribble, from the very onset of a possession with ease, I thought. Boydanovitch here on Tuesday Night for Indiana did a good job of keeping Ben away from the rim. So he did get low, but not all the way to the basket, even last
night a little bit in New York. But tonight, like I said, he looks at DeMarcus is you know a radio man's and now, oh hi, you're a nine year veteran. Come up with me. We're going to the rim, and he just roars right by him and gets right to the rack. It's incredible, but also defensively. He kind of snuck up on the nets down the stretch where you know the sixers came away empty. Ben looks like he's changing, but then over his changing ends sort of at center cord.
He looks over his shoulder and then turns around and knocks the ball away and steals it. I mean, he is, I thought tonight. In the end, and Bead had huge numbers with the nineteen rebounds and a career high making eleven free throws, but Joel struggled from the field quite a bit. I thought he showed a lot of fatigue and many of those early attempts in the game from the line or excuse me, from the field. I thought
Simmons was a dominant player early. I would say almost three quarters of the way through the game, he was the dominant player in this game. And that's a pretty effective one two combo for the Sixers, no question. Tom again his live from the centers. The Sixers win one twenty one sixteen over the Brooklyn that's now thirty eight and thirty on the season as time pointing out, half
game behind Washington for the fifth spot. Tom as you just pointed out Ben Simmons very aggressive and what he did tonight and dominant and with the Joel Embiad's struggle six of twenty three getting to the free throw line though making all eleven in the nineteen rebounds, the career high, he did find a way to stay with it defensively
when they needed the most at the end. Oh, absolutely know, And a star player like that can impact the game in manning areas and Coach Brown was just calling him, you know, an impactful and difference maker in all areas
of the game and without doubt. I mean he held off the nets at the basket, down the stretch during that jump ball situation he gets the ball, I mean he Jared Allen I thought had a couple of opportunities late that were impacted by embad And so a man of that side and agility and that fight and competitive nature, it lends itself to a great overall play. So yeah, he struggled from the field, miss some chip shots and Okaford did well against it beat and part of that
was even at the defensive end. So but it beat in the end ruled the day in terms of how he finished the game. And to have a guy, you know, who gets to the line as often as he does, to be able to make all of his free throws and to be a dependable foul shooter and the guts of the game is quite an asset. Absolutely, and Tom enjoy the rest of your weekend. Will be back at it on Monday for the Charlotte Hornets. Time. It seems like the Charlotte Hornets. It's the playoff series they played him.
This would be the third matchup in this month, so very accustomed to seeing the Charlotte Hornets no right and back there on Easter Sunday. I mean, it was kind of weird where, you know, the Sixers didn't play them at all, and then they're playing them four times in the last five weeks of the season and just to go back, did the Sixers are off this weekend? Oh mind?
How about that? Unbelievable, So great opportunity, as we said, with the home games and playing eleven of these last fifteen games against teams with under five hundred records, and so far, so good for the Sixers for the last two games over the Nicks. Tom, enjoy your weekend. Thank you,
good night. Tom mcguinnis again live from the Center as the Philadelphia seventy Sixers are now thirty eight and thirty and continuing to improve in the win column that will position themselves for a playoff spot and clinching at some point nine home games remaining for this basketball team. Five one a road, very good shot at a good spot
in the postseason. Sixers win one twenty one sixteen. On the other side, the man that you heard, Tom mc ginnis, we'll hear its highlights next on the Sixers Radio Network. One twenty one sixteen. The Philadelphia seventy Sixes are now thirty eight and thirty after game numbers sixty eight on the season. After defeating the Brooklyn Nets at the center, it is ten oh five on the clock. But before we get to the highlights, it's time to allow our
affhiliates to identify themselves. Here on the Sixes Radio Network, the home for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers and the Philadelphia Fly ninety seven five the Finatic WPE and Burlington hildelpodcasting from the Exfinity Studio only from Comcast. Well, this game had a lot of intrigue from the very start as the Philadelphia seventy Sixers got things going very early, Ben Simmons getting birthed a driving layup to make it two
to two very early with these two basketball teams. But then the birthday Boy Joel and Bee got into the action. Joel drives it on the Alan Dominey oh Man sit down quick with a thirty and a violent stuff by it be baby slow moved to get by Alan and when no one came to give help it, Bet crashes it with a slam and that was off of his Joeling Bees patent it up fake and then drive low the defender of Sleep and take his time by getting by and that's exactly what he did four to two
and sixers at that time. Ben Simmons kept it going later on in that quarter with the driving layup to give this put the Sixes up thirteen to eight. Early on, they were six of seven to start the game with their field goals. Unfortunately, Ben Simmons did pick up his second foul very early. D'Angelo Russell made a three to give the Brooklyn Nets a sixteen to thirteen advantage after
an eight oh run. But at the later on in that quarter, as things again started to go another way, a little spark off the bench by Justin Anderson two twenty in the opening quarter half court set. McConnell the Anderson he's gonna try for another three, and that's good. See three. That's what's gonna work in the playoffs. He'll be able to guard an exciting wing player and be able to if he's on, make those threes. Definitely a bonus for making the threes from behind the arc for
Justin Anderson. After that three pointer twenty five twenty four, Brooklyn much needed baskets by Anderson the reserve again off the bench and as he is able to give that kind of offensive output from time to time during the postseason. It will make a difference. At the end of one thirty three thirty the Brooklyn Nets in front of the seventy sixers start of the second quarter, JJ Reddick again
fantastic night overall from the floor. Here is one of the three point baskets made beat with McConnell JJ Reddick. Reddick shoots it off the inbount It makes it fast. Carros Lavert drops his shoulders as if to see what all they gotta do again? This guy, Well, what he has to do carris Lavert after that made basket to tide at thirty three is to go on a run for the Brooklyn Nets. And they did in fact do that when they went on a ten o run and carros Lavert went on an eight o' run all by himself,
resulting in a forty six thirty three advantage. Dario Shards then made it forty six thirty five with the layup Sixes themselves made him run as Marco Belinelli converted to three fifty eight to fifty two. But JJ Reddick, once again capping off the twelve two run six seconds ago, Sixers on the drive out the JJ dribbles, shoots, fires and hits three point shot by Reddick. It's a three point game with two seconds to go in the half.
That sent him into the half down fifty eight fifty five, much needed basket for the Sixers by their vet and sharp shooter again trailing by three after two started the third quarter Ben Simmons. He started the game very aggressive. He did the same out of the locker room rebound losing Simmons picks it up, turns on the Jets in the midcourt, goes in and gets around Joe Harris lay
up good. Ben Simmons would not be to nine. Very aggressive, made the free throw as well, fifty eight fifty eight, six to tie game between the Sixers, and that's just a few short seconds later. Ben Simmons again with another drive to the basket of Floata and the foul. Unfortunately he missed the free throw, sixty to fifty eight. He also scored one more time when the fadeaway jumpers, seeing that comfortability with the jumper, which is very encouraging by
Ben Simmons. But Joel and Beat struggled again from the floor. Overall six to twenty three, but his only made three point basket. Here they clear it out Ben out top to Joel. It beat for three, and it's in Simmons with nine assists. He is wheeling and Billy and it beats on target. With the train sixers by by sixty eight sixty three Philadelphia. He also made a jumper two jumpers later on to give them an eighty six to eighty one advantage going into the fourth quarter. And that's
again where things started to go back and forth. Arson Ilia Silva with a big layup, same four and bed, but the Nets would not go away. They kept battling, kept battling, and Damari Carroll was one of the reasons why. Rodde Hollis Jefferson two two to go. Hollis Jefferson cut off passes out front. Here's Carol for three. It's good Damari Carol from Jared Allen and the Nets up taking
the lead one thirteen one ten. They did in fact take the lead, scoring seven straight to put the Sixes behind, but Ben Simmons then gets the steal Robert Covington with the layup. They wound up tying it one thirteen, one thirteen Robert Covington. After that layup his most important basket of the night, coffee dipp with a rebound of crowd risers. Here's Dario Sights up to the fender, back out the bend. Simmons the ruddick into the corner. Three ball shot here,
it's good. Robert public toon berries of three. How the Sixers half take of the lane, and the Sixers went on and score four more points courtesy of free throws by t. J. McConnell, two apiece from t. J McConnell and Joel and beat again. The final score one twenty one sixteen spenc And then when he did have an opportunity with the basketball, he lost it out of bounds
with twenty point eight seconds to go. Then it was a foul game and trying to continue, you know, it stretched the game out a bit to give the Nets an opportunity, but unfortunately for them, the Sixes were simply not going to be denied tonight, coming away with the victory one twenty to one sixteen. Very very good job tonight, protecting the basketball only only five turnovers. How about that, which did not allow the Nets to get any extra shots.
Three points off of those turnovers. On the other side, though the Nets with twelve turnovers six is converting thirteen points off of those very very crucial for the team. Tonight, forty five percent from the field forty four percent for the Piladelphia seventy six and from behind a three point line twelve of twenty seven very good from the free throw line with eighty four point six twenty two of twenty six. They lost the rebounding battle forty seven to
forty two. Brooklyn took that edge, also sharing the basketball like they always do, thirty assists on forty three made baskets. Second chance points NETS twenty three six fourteen seventy six is fast break points. They took the advantage there fifteen to five. Biggest lead if the night was the Nets with the thirteen seventy six or six, and again they win by four tonight over the Brooklyn Nets one twenty
one sixteen twenty one lead chases seventeen times tied. The game was simply two hours and twenty minutes of play. We also have to jump in real fast to the other side of the box score. Former Philadelphia seventy sixers center Joel and Jalil okafor off the bench in thirty three minutes and twenty five seconds, five of eight from the floor. Physical with him beat he knows how to play, and they've been playing together for the last couple of season, so he knows his game just a little bit. Not
enough though, was the big man. Twenty four points to nineteen boards for the birthday boy Dwell and beat ten for Jalio Oka four. Very good win for the Sixers tonight. It was the struggle. The Nets would not go away, and that's what you would expect at this time of the season from a team very prideful with the head coach was very good and Kenny Atkinson not going to allow his team to simply lay down even though they do not have a record that I'm sure that they
would like to carry on now. Twenty one and forty eight for the Brooklyn Nets, but most importantly, the Sixers come away with the win, their second in a row on the back to back night one twenty one sixteen, improving the thirty eight and thirty A lot of people to think, starting with Jay Gray here back at the studio engineering the whole thing for us at the station, audio engineer Alan Yates with everything, taking care of those great highlights and of course, Tom again is at the
Center once again. Sixers victorious tonight one twenty one sixteen. There back at it against the Charlotte Hornets on Monday, the Center where they are now going for plenty of home games. They have nine more home games remaining, so not a lot of time spent on the road. Thanks so much for hanging out with this all tonight. I'm divine. Gibbons. Come if you're listening on ninety seventy five to Fanatic, it's you and I six one sixty three two zero
nine seventy five. I'll carry you into a midnight your thoughts on this win, very very good win, very good individual performances by the Philadelphia seventy sixers, so we can talk about that on the other side. If not in you're with one of the affiliates, Enjoy the rest of your weekend, have fun, and we'll check back in with you guys on Monday for Sixers Hornets signing off one more time. One twenty one sixteen, six Is Victories. This has been the postgame show right here in six IS
Radio Network. Following the Sixers win, Tom Aguinnis had a chance to catch up with one of the players afterwards, and that seated on the table Ben Simmons, Ben like I was just saying, not exactly like last night, but similar that it was a hard park game where you guys took over down the Stretch and a pivotal victor
tonight for your club over Brooklyn. Your thoughts. Definitely, I think we've been getting up for slow stocks and that's the one thing we wanted to change this game, but it didn't happen, obviously, But for us, I think we're getting better at closing out games and keeping out composure. Coach Brown and your staff, the coaches go over a lot of late game situations and this game, certainly down the Stretch, had a lot of those types of scenarios.
Good experience for all of you. Definitely, I think we're getting used to it playing the situations like that, and I was getting bet every game. How about the crowd here helping you guys the lower bowl. Everybody was on their feet and had to help out in many ways, particularly at the defensive end. Best man's in the NBA,
for sure, best man's in the NBA. Thank you, Ben, Congratulations, Thank you Ben Simmons, and the Sixers win by four one twenty one, sixteen one a night as the Sixers battle from behind to beat Brooklyn in a very hard fought game, one that featured all told twenty one lead changes and seventeen ties, and after only four free throws by the the Sixers in the first half, I believe they had twenty attempts for the nine in a pivotal
second half. Back with postgame coverage on the six Ers radio network,
