This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game Tuesday night. Hoops at the Center and a lot of offense, plenty of defense as well. Not a pretty win, but they get it done as the Philadelphia seventy Sixers pick up win number forty three at home over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Are all This is the Sixers postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. I'm Divine Givens. We will check back in at the center and here from winning head

coach Brett Brown. At some point we'll also dive back in with the Sixers radio voice. You heard them all game since seven o'clock. That will be toim again. Once again, not a pretty one, but of course this is what happens late in the season. YEA a common opponent. You've played them for three games at this point, very very contested games. First one for the Cleveland Cavaliers. They take the win in Philadelphia, way back win at the start of the season, handing the seventy six is one of

their early losses at the Center. The Sixers then come back and get a win in December against the Cleveland Cavaliers and tonight taking the season series two one by defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers one oh six ninety nine minus Jimmy Butler out due to rest and load management. And it was not easy. Seventy sixers up by double digits at some point in the game a few times, and then the Cleveland Cavaliers that simply would not go away.

And you can go back as far as last night against the Toronto Raptors where they beat the Toronto Raptors. Then come to Philadelphia tonight and give them the seventy Sixers a tough game tonight. Colin Sexton was really tough also twenty six points for the Cleveland Cavaliers, but for

Philadelphia seventy Sixers. Ben Simmons with twenty six points, ten rebounds, and eight assists in his thirty eight minutes of play, ten of sixteen from the floor, still getting to the free throw line and getting into a nice rhythm for your second year point guard, your all star point guard six of eight from the free throw line, having setting a nice pace for this basketball team, getting everyone involved as a five starters were in double figures, plus bobam

Marijanovitch his return since the injury and the seventy six is again pick up win number forty three, still sitting at number three in the East. We do head back to the Senate right now for the winning head coach Brett Brown. Even though I'm sorry one time. We always talk about having the appropriate fear where when it comes to the games, because this wasn't the UM I think that we could have done better playing JJ and are they playing the Joel JJ handuff differently? UM? I think that, Uh.

I think that there was a connection of a timing is the word that wasn't there? Uh tonight? I think in general when people physical with that and they really get into JJ right off the bat, I think that ken disrupt it. We've seen that with some of the elite defensive teams. But in that environment you're talking about D we got to do better. We got to execute better, especially in that first half. What did you see depression wise?

I think anytime I see zero free throws, I go straight to a mentality and I hate it, you know, I don't. I don't like it. I think when you come in at halftime and you have fourteen turnovers and and zero free throws, you know that that's not a good uh offensive um statistic. That's not a good sign obviously. And I think that the lack of free throws for me is always about a mentality. And uh, we did a better job in the second half, but the first half was poor starting. How you felt even with that

line up. I thought he did well. He was a bell ringer tonight and I thought he did well. I thought defensively he did some really good things. I thought he moved his feet well. I thought he kept the game in front of him a lot better than some of our other primitive defensive people. And he made some shots. I thought tonight he was very, very, very good, one of my best defensive players. What was your messages in the team after the game inside the locker room, Just

stuff that I've just shared with you now. Defension staff and dude help with turnover issue at this point, there always is, you know, timing, execution, screen setting. Of course there would be six is head coach Brett Brown after the victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers one oh six ninety nine, he just alluded to the fact that James and it's in place of Jimmy Butler tonight in the starting lineup was the bell ring of four the seventy six or

twelve points in a starting role. Six of seven from the only missed tonight was a three pointer, so all of his work came from inside. Again the activity that he displays on a nightly basis that did not stop again in the twenty two minutes that he started for the seventy Sixes tonight with the normal starting four and he gives you those six or seven from the floor, seven rebounds to assist three turnovers unfortunately for him tonight, just natural movement and getting a few more minutes with

the new team. One block shot for James and it's just a nice, nice productive night for the veteran swingman acquired at the trade deadline and just earning the opportunity to be in the starting lineup with Tobias Harris, Joel and b JJ Reddick and Ben Simmons based on his play over the last week or so, where he's giving you again those solid minutes, the solid contribution off the bench for the seventy Sixes, where Brett Brown now seems to trust him a little more and understanding where to

use him best in the lineup and in the rotation with his teammates and as he now starts to get everyone back due to maybe rest or injury, it's good to start to see where things will really start to fall into place. As to who head coach Brett Brown would like to use within that rotation as the playoffs near. Tobias Harris a quiet night, five of twelve from the field, one of five from deep, with eleven points and nine rebounds. Joellen beat his second game back since the All Star Break,

following up a tremendous performance with thirty three points. Again. Another double double on Sunday against the Indiana Pacers gives you seventeen points and nineteen rebounds tonight. Six turnovers, so high activity again with the basketball, and just still trying to locate things and get things right. You just heard about the dribble handoff and the pitch with JJ Reddick.

Just a little bit of the timing is off and tim and gets talked about it towards the end of the broadcast, and that's something that they will certainly shore up before the end of the season looking ahead to the postseason as well. He Dick knocked down three pointer tonight on his three attempts like that. Four or four

from the free throw line. So again the activity just getting back working on a block and simply getting back to his normal routine of working on a block, punishing defenses, getting big men in foul trouble, and getting to the free throw line and converting those free throws. JJ Reddick getting his shooting stroke back tonight, four of seven from deep, seventeen points of fifteen from the field in thirty four

minutes and fifty seconds. And we already spoke about Ben Simmons in his tremendous line twenty six points, ten rebounds, eight assists, only two turnovers in thirty seven minutes and forty seconds for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers on the other side.

When we come back, we will check back in with Tom AGAINNS live from the Senate gets some final thoughts from him as the Philadelphia seventy Sixers win one oh six ninety nine over the Cleveland Cavaliers, picking up win number forty three on the season as they improved to forty three and twenty five. This is the Sixers postgame show right here on the Sixers Radio Network ninety seven five.

The fanatic Sixers remain in the third place in the Eastern Conference after their victory tonight over the Cleveland Cavaliers forty three and twenty five now on the season. The Indiana Pacers also pick up a victory tonight over the New York Knicks. They remained behind the Philadelphia seventy Sixers

right now in the Eastern Conference standings. The Sixers postgame show live on the Sixers Radio Network, I'm Divine Givens as we had back to the center and check in with the Sixers radio voice time again this in time

when we had a chance to speak pregame. We also pointed out how the Cleveland Cavaliers, where you did have to give you the credit, took care of business last night against the Toronto Raptors, and they came in here and we wanted to make sure the seventy Sixers were on top of their game and not let the same

thing happen. Well, late in the fourth, there were as much as a sixteen in the game, but late in the fourth the Cleveland Cavaliers went on an eleven old run and trying to scare the seventy Sixers, but they ultimately came away with it. Very very competitive game by the Cleveland Cavaliers, absolutely, and it shows you where the expectations are with the fans. I mean, the sixerss were totally disappointed. At one point, they were booing the team

because of that right there. When in years passed a close game like this, you know you would have been excited down the stretch, but obviously bigger expectations for the fans and understandably so. But again, as sloppy as the Sixers were at times, to watch him be come back and make those plays at both ends of the floor and on multiple occasions making four straight free throws, the rebound putback dunk, and the blocks and the boards at the defensive end, and he literally helped seal the deal.

And like I said, not exactly the same recipe that he put forth in terms of closing out Indiana on Sunday, but the result was the same, and that is he helped the Sixers win a game here at home, and so tremendous. And like I said, oftentimes when your team wins, but there's some glaring areas and you could kind of tell with Coach Brown post game, I would say he's very loquacious, and you know, he's really great, and tonight I would I would characterize that as slightly tight lipped.

When they asked him, what are some of the things you can do, he said, basically, some of the same stuff that you can do here. And my point is sometimes, you know, when you win, that's when you can really get after your guys a little bit. Now, again, this

is late in the NBA season. I'm not exactly sure how the dynamic works with this group at this time, but the turnovers is an area of concern because that that has reared itself, and that, to me, that was one of the only reasons that Cleveland was able to stay in the game. The Sixers crushed him on the glass, they shot way better throughout the entire game, and yet Cleveland was, you know, was playing with some extra possessions

and they played well. They had a number of players including Sexton and Ausman and different guys that really stepped up and played for them. But in the end, a win, and you know, you have a little break in the schedule here, albeit just a couple of days before you take on Sacramento, and the Sixers have not played well against the King, so they have to take care of business in that game before going out to Milwaukee for that big game. An earlier little editorial clean up here,

I said Milwaukee is here in March twentieth. I got my big games mixed up. That's Boston April. Fourth of the Sixers play the Bucks here. But obviously that'll be a big weekend game out there. But obviously more to do here Friday with the close out of this three game homestand and Tom looking at how things played out thirty seven minutes and forty seconds with Ben Simmons. We

know the line tonight's fantastic. Ten of sixteen, twenty six points, ten rebounds, eight assists, and only two turnovers, one of the guys tonight not turning the ball over to the opponent. The one thing I wanted to focus on with you, though, is the improvement at the free throw line. And we see at six of eight tonight, and we've had others whereas four of six or five of seven or wherever

it may be. There's something different about Ben Simmons. Have you been able to kind of lock in on what you may be able to see maybe pregame or during the game where the focus might be just a little bit different. Yeah, I don't know that it's the focus I would say, it's probably confident. So currently there's no like that I can tell. There's no difference in terms

of his mechanics or anything like that. But you know, he's put in a lot of work, including all the way back in the off season, and now it's paying dividends. And Brett Brown was saying pregame, you know, if that confidence can extend to the entire game to where he's still attacking in the in the clutch, waning moments of a tight game, that's huge because when you go to the when you know you're going to get fouled and then you have the confidence to step up and make

free throws. That's big for the Sixers because, let's face it, the guy can get to the rim pretty much anytime he really puts his mind to it. So that's a big thing for the Sixers. Low free throw game in total, but Simmons was very efficient and as Brett Brown noted, you know, no free throws in the first half. It's the first time in almost two years or six Ers

one a half without any free throws. There were much fewer in terms of fouls in general in this game as opposed to Sunday when it seemed like every five seconds there was a whistle. Tonight that was not the case. It was a much cleaner game for both teams and a little bit more rhythm in the contest as a result.

In the time again, it's Jonas Life from the Center's following Sixers win one of six ninety nine over the Cleveland Cavaliers and Tom we spoke about a lot often actually about the guards and the way that they've been able to score against the Sixers perimeter defense, something that they are certainly gonna have to tighten up a little bit as the season gets comes to a regular season

comes to an ear and the postseason gets underway. Colin Sexton again twenty six points tonight, levin from Brandon Knight in thirteen from Jordan Clarkson. So one of the things that over these next few days, and with Daron Fox and Buddy Hill coming in, I'm sure the coaching staff will have a close eye on well, no doubt, And that's been honestly a difficult thing for the Sixers in terms of the Kemba Walkers and the Spencer did with Ease and D'Angelo Russells, you know where they're they're able

to create and shoot from the perimeter. And tonight I think you saw James Enna step up and he's and that he can be one of those defenders. And so with Jimmy and Tobias, you know, you get the wings covered and you need, you know, that ability to stop dribble penetration from out front as well. So that's something the Sixers have kind of struggled with a little bit. I mean, that's where Ben is brilliant in terms of his size and his ability to really make a perimeter

player pay when he takes it down low. But collectively, the Sixers have to be more efficient in that area. When you look at the you know, the teams and the players are going to be facing in that regard, whether it's Kyle Lowry or Malcolm Brogden or some of these other players from the perimeter that they're going to be looking to guard in the postseason or have to stop if you will. And obviously, yeah, right, those two

guys from Sacramento have been really good. Buddy Hilp was brilliant against the Sixers out at sack and like I said, the one saving grace is that they'll have played on Thursday and the Sixers will have a chance to know.

Rare a little break in the schedule here, and I know it's only two days, but at this stage of the season, it seems like you always play almost every other day, and to have a chance to go over this game a little bit, work on some things, get some practice time, but also be rested and ready to go.

Like I said, hopefully you get Jimmy Butler back in the folding here now you would seem to be whole finally with Boban and Joel back in the mix, and really get the chance to get these guys in rhythm and sync and playing one of the other for a stretch,

including the game Friday and that huge matchup out Milwaukee. Well, Tom, as you point it out, maybe not the way the fans drew it up, but they got the win nonetheless, and not a bad thing with a few days off, so they can maybe tighten up on a few things and go over some things to fix as they go forward. Tom Againnis, thanks so much. As always, we will check in with you on Friday. Lie from the center ahead of Sixers Kings. All right, thank you to have a

good night time. Tom Againnis again, Lie from the center Sixers victorious one of six ninety nine over the Cleveland Cavaliers forty three and twenty five on the season, we will get to more Tom again is and his voice on the other side as we dive into some of the best highlights of the game. Sixers win tonight again over the Cleveland Cavaliers one of six ninety nine. As we get ready for

some highlights of the victory over the Cleveland Cavaliers. Things got started in the first quarter with Tobias Harris getting to the basket, finishing strong for the Philadelphia seventy sixers and now the sixers by four, going left the right, Simmons out top do all barkhards him. Joel with it backdoor, took the bias and Harris with a right hand to ham started in the left corner by the Cleveland bench. Harris with the cut. Joel waited for him to come clear,

set him up dunk sixers by six. Sixers up twelve to six to buyas Harris again with the finish. Ben Simmons aggressive all night, looking for his as he led the team in scoring again with twenty six points. This one right here, driving hard to the basket. Here's Ben Simmons on a drive. Don low right hand bank good driving to the left, shoots it with a right hand off the glass and then firmly off the window. Simmons four points, three rebounds, two assists, fourteen point game that

made the twenty two eight sixers at that point. They finished the quarter up by twelve twenty four twelve good guys in front. In the second quarter, James Nis as we talked about showing a lot of energy, crashing the glass, getting too the basket, diving on the floor. Whatever Sixes needed tonight he gave and this one right here brought the crowd to his feet. Edis and Edis rocks the rim. Prayers back right hand slam and beat with a dishes. Third and James Edis the third rocks the rim. He's

got eight and that's what you're gonna get. Constant movement from the veteran swing man again acquired via trade that made it thirty five twenty five and bat tonight. Only one time from behind the three point line did he connect, and that one is right here. Beat, you'll shoot at three and that's good. Joel with his first basket from deep,

his second field goal. Time out, Cleveland and the Sixers have reopened an eight point league forty six to thirty eight at that point, at the end of two fifty three forty seven Sixers in front of the Cleveland Cavaliers. JJ Reddick acquiet at seventeen points Tonight on the evening, shot well from deep, but he also got one and got fout out let the sevens out of Mike Scott. Scott hands off the Reddick off balance three bank to Dad Lucky but good and J. J. Reddick is foul.

His legs splayed all over the place, his shoulders twisted, and he throws up the right handed prayer. It's good off the glass and he's foul. Sometimes you need luck, and again they got it on that particular play, getting the three making free throw sixty two fifty nine sixers. At that point, they needed that basket from JJ Reddick. Colin Sexton not going quietly on the night as the

Cleveland Cavaliers surge on against the Sixers. Cleveland ball sexon on the move against Bet Simmons, stops, shoots and puts it a. Colin Sexton has come on big. He's now eight a fifteen, nineteen points. It's a two point game. Seventy four forty two was the score after Colin Sexton's basket that at the end of three eighty one seventy seven, the Sixers still with the lead over the Cleveland Cavaliers.

In the fourth quarter, been Simmons again showing his aggressiveness with a strong dunk to make it ninety three eighty three. Then JJ Reddick follows up a few plays later to make it ninety six eighty six sixers. But then that's when the Cleveland Cavaliers went on an eleven old run, started with a David and wabas Steel miscommunication between Reddick and e beat on a dribble handoff, making it ninety

six ninety one. Colin Sexton with the layup to give them a ninety six ninety five, a basket to make it ninety six ninety five only down one, and then Chetti Osman with the lay in to make it ninety seven ninety six to lead for the Cleveland Cavaliers, captaining an eleven old run. But then Mike Scott coming up

big for the Philadelphia seventy sixers. Here's Scott another three, got it sixers lead, ninety nine ninety seven corner tray Mike Scott only a second field goal in the game, only a second field goal, only threes tonight for his two field goals for Mike Scott, and again that score

at that point ninety nine ninety seven. But then Joel Ebad, as Tim again has pointed out, came up strong both defensively and offensively, put it on himself right here it beat with two men around him off ballance leader nobody, but he dumped it. Oh Man a powerful rebound put back one h two ninety nine. It was a great play, got caught right there inside the free throw line with the smaller defender on him, threw it up, missed it short off the front of the room, but timed it perfectly.

You know how it always goes. The shooter always knows where the ball is going first, missed it, got it, pulled it back and finishes strong at the rim for that putback dunk right there for Joel and beat and again on the night four and beat another double double, seventeen points, nineteen rebounds, six of sixteen from the floor, that won three that we played for you earlier in the sequence right there, and his thirty four minutes and

twenty two seconds on the night for Joel embad. Much needed rest for the team overall, as they have these two days off gives them time to not only hit the practice floor, but also watch some film, grow through some things, and see where they can clean up in some of their activity on the floor against the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight, and maybe even go back to a few games before to see where they need to tighten up

on a few things. With so many again new pieces with this basketball team trying to familiarize themselves with one another and again very important at this stage of the

year as they pick up the wind. Number forty three look to continue to build and add to their win total with their eyes still set, not looking past anyone, but their eyes set on the postseason and knowing they have to be strong against the opponents that they will face, not only in the first round, but it lucky enough to advance in the second third and who knows how

far this basketball team will go. Boba Marianovic once again back in his return eleven points and five rebounds, four or five from the field in thirteen minutes and thirty eight seconds. Mike Scott with a reserve high thirty minutes and twenty nine seconds for him tonight off the bench, TJ McConnell late night for TJ in the backup role ten minutes and twenty seconds with his four points and

one rebound. On the evening, Jonathan Simmons seventeen minutes and thirty one seconds, one of three from the field for his two points. And the Sixers again get back at it on Friday against the Sacramento Kings, and as they come to Philadelphia on the second night of a back to back playing on Thursday night, and the Kings took care of the Sixers earlier in the season, so revenge on the mind for the home team, no question about it. On Friday night, you've been listening to seventy Sixers Rewind.

Be sure not to miss new episodes the day after each game this season, all year long.
