This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game, seventy Sixers beat that Denver Nuggets tonight by the final score of one seventeen to one ten on Brian Seltz from Sixers dot com News, starting lineup and a good result. Brett Brown is at the podium. We will listen and join in progress with a line up. At one point where it was Justine Jimmie had a bunch of matchco love. This is hilarious. Yes, I did so, Like how did
you end up there? And that something you want to avoid, like sometimes we don't want to do that, but for one minute and forty four seconds you caught me. I did it. Sorry, you know, And I think I think that with Jimmy in the game, and like the bench is new, like the bench I think Mike Scott is, you know some of the other young guys we have and so ideally it's not something like you want to extend further. But I give you credit for your detective work.
You're a practice together with this group. And yet he just beat Anver Nuggets team that's number two in the West. What do you think if the group had together that enable you to beat the team. I think that we all feel the responsibility that we have to take this circumstance, this situation in all of our kind of sporting lives, and I don't mean to be too dramatic, but it's
true and maximize it. And to to come out and this fantastic sort of basketball atmosphere and the home crowd and to roll out on new team was a real special treat, you know, it was for me. And to see our guys and to see him with new teammates
is just something special. And so the responsibility, the opportunity, this amazing sort of home crowd, we wanted to capitalize on that, and I think that that momentum can easily grow from this type of base First impressions of your new starting five, how do you think they did to get it tonight? I thought that they were unselfish. I thought we shared the ball, you know, we moved, we moved. I thought, quite well, when we didn't have the ball, we have way more to give, you know. He Ben
and I were talking throughout the game. If you see my play call, she it's thin. It's very frugal, you know, I just wasn't able to put in that offense in two hours when I met him coming off a plane, and so like he didn't, we didn't have the opportunity to like really tap into Tobias, so really tap in even with Bovan and I thought that the group came in and shared the ball as a team. They played together with a very limited sort of time frame together.
Seventy six Ers head coach Brett Brown after a one seventeen one ten wind over a real good Denver Nuggets team that is second in the Western Conference, seventy six Ers improved to thirty five and two with the win and build the bass, as Brett Brown described it, of momentum. With a revamped starting line of thirty four points for JJ Reddick, the second highest output of his entire NBA career, Jimmy Butler ends up with twenty two, doing a lot of work from the free throw line fourteen to fourteen.
Joe Battled tonight fifteen points, twelve rebounds, a huge jumper to making an eight point game with around a minute to go, Also an enormous block on Malik Beasley down the stretch. Prior to that jumper. He was big in crunch time we mentioned JJ Reddick and Ben Simmons twelve points a dunk in the final minutes, and then the new guy Tobias Harris with fourteen points six or twelve shooting two to three outside the arc, eight rebounds and
three assists to go with the steal. And the basic theme of all that as we take the parts and mash it all together, making it whole. The overriding theme from how this game ended. This new starting lineup everyone to close out the Denver Nuggets played a role in sending the seventy six Ers to a winning fine seventeen to one ten. Among the other new guys, boban Marjanovich finished with four points, two rebounds in justin or fifteen minutes.
I thought James Ennis had a really nice game six points, three rebounds, two assists, hit a couple timely corner three pointers that helped give the seventy six ers a lift they needed a lot tonight. Denver is an excellent team. Nikola Yokich is a tremendous player. Twenty seven points, ten rebounds, ten assists, a double bigger part in a triple double for the second time in as many meetings with the Sixers.
Jamal Murray had twenty three, but the seventy Sixers had enough, going twenty nine of thirty two from the free throw line, a big stat in tonight's win. As the Sixers get back on track, we'll talk more about it with Tom McGinnis. He is waiting eagerly. Shall we mentioned to speak? Coming up next after this, it's the postgame showing the Sixers Writer Network. Club seventy six is the official season ticket

As a challenging four game homestand continues for the seventy six Ers leading to the All Star Game break, a nice win over the Denver Nuggets to Night One seventeen to one ten on Brian Seltzer. We've
got Tom McGinn a standing by. I believe we might have Ben Simmons at the podium. I think it was a quick exit for Ben. He was there. We do assure you that. But he has come and he has gone. Ben Simmons in tonight's game twelve points, five and ten from the field, four rebound, six assists. Tom. I guess there's been a lot of talk the last forty eight hours or so about well, how is this starting unit
gonna come together? And all these new pieces with the seventy six ers, And you know, I'm not sure if there were too many blatant evidences of a lack of chemistry tonight, But when the game mattered most the Sixers needed some separation down the stretch, Each one of the new starters left an imprint, no doubt about it. Harris had a big play. Jimmy obviously consistent and perfect eth line. What can you say about jj Reddick, not just at the end, but particularly early in the game, staking the
Sixers to a huge opening lead. He had eighteen points in the first half in route to a season I thirty four points. Ben was good and then Joel and Bead who struggled throughout the night with a major defensive play with a block when of four this was at the rim, and then coming back with a face up jumper on Yoki, and there were some signs of you know, there were two three second calls for the Sixers because they were moving the ball around and guys got caught
in the lane. And that's understandable, you know what I mean because in the NBA, with the clock at twenty four seconds and obviously on the reset after an offensive about only fourteen, you know, sometimes you don't have a chance to run a play. So the default action if he wills to go set a screen for somebody and start a little two man action and then try to get a little movement going toward the basket. Or the Sixers do a lot of that weaving around the three
point arc, and that's going to take time. And then, as Brett Brown just stated, you know, he didn't have he works. I go in there and I interview coach, and again he's so gracious with his time. He is going over these call sheets. Those are plays you know, you see the offensive coaches in the National Football League with those big color coded Doug Peterson with those sheets. Well, NBA coaches do the same thing, and they've got a whole bunch of options for different players, and that thing
will grow as the season goes along. But you know what he's got with play calls or not. He's got guys that can go out and get a basket. And Harris is really richly added to that, including Jimmy Butler and Joel and driving, Ben Simmons and Reddick on the perimeter. And that's what you need to close out games. They did it with defense down the stretch, creating that separation and they got the baskets to pull away. They had a big ten to run in the guts the game
one of three. The other two came early in the game of ten oh and seven o run in the opening quarter, but this one came with the game of the mind and it allowed them to pull away and get a seven point win. Seventy six Ers knock off the Nuggets one, seventeen one ten. Let's get into Tobias
Harris a little bit more. Tom would you think, I mean, he really showed up late in the final six minutes, a big three pointer to send the seventy sixers in front that other tie breaking jump shot, and it seemed like he was able to do a lot of different things defensively as well. Well. He's got length, and you know tonight everyone talks about here's a stretch for that you've been looking for when the Sixers acquired him just two days ago. Well, tonight he was guarding Mason Plumley,
and Plumbly was very efficient. He fouled out, but he's having a tremendous season for Denver and he normally, if you didn't have Yokis, he could be your starting center Mason Plumley. And like you say, he did a decent job. But again, to me, he's a score He's averaging twenty points of a game. He's made himself a three point shooter at over forty three percent from beyond the arc. He's six nine and able to put it on the deck. He's got fluidity going to the basket, very smooth player,
and I think he's gonna fit in nicely. And you know, there's been a lot of bright moments, particularly at home twenty two victories for the Sixers here at the center, but one of them that stands out is that first three point shot by Harris. It got the crowd into a frenzy, Denver head to take time out, and it shows you a glimpse of what we hope will be many great moments to come. Speaking of mister Tobias, I
believe we've got him at the podium here. He is, you know that, and a whole lot to me and to be the very good team, you know, regardless day. They've been a little banged up with injury, but you know, I know, coming from the West Coast, that team is no joke. And that was a good game for us, and we got great efforts from a lot of guys tonight. JJ came out fire and we just been rolling from there. But it was me personally, I'm just sitting here like wow,
Like it was fine, It was fine. We are you trying to preserve anything that you wanted to do this say hey, I wanted to put compressions that any people to try and focus on it, says hey, I want to get into the well. I just wanted to playoff, um, the other other talent that we have on the floor. I wanted to come out and show how I can really help this team, and that is by being a guy out there that you know, for one, can um be versatile on the floor for us, can space the floor,
create different actions. And so I just try to do a little bit of show a little in pockets everything that UM that I probably my game on and UM, you know, when you come into a new situation, you want to feel things out, but there's also a time where you have to be a little aggressive too. So I just really wanted to um kind of play in the flow of the game. And that's how I like to play the game. That's how probably myself to be at this point where I'm at now is just playing
in the flow and playing playing together. And I thought I did a pretty good job of that. Tonight, Tobias Harris striking a similar balance that we heard Jimmy Butler talk about upon joining the seventy six or a couple of months ago. Harris finishing with fourteen points, eight rebounds, and three assists to go with a steal in tonight's game.
So tom as Brett Brown said, you know, one of the objectives not to make it too dramatic or maybe too hokey, is you know everyone you know, there's still a couple dozen, maybe a couple one hundred or so people in the building. Like everyone feels good right now. You know, there's a lot of energy, there's a lot of momentum, and you just want to build off that.
In the seventy six Ers in a very simplistic way of saying that they got that done with the wind going into Sunday's game against La no doubt about it, and that is you know that you don't get this. There's that boy, you wish you could take that All Star break in practice, That's just not how it works. These guys deserve a break. It's actually negotiated in a
collective bargaining agreement. But they're gonna make do. And again, a lot of these things will be in shoot rounds or on film and walk throughs in terms of integrating the players and trying to get some of the things in place that they hope to do, but a lot of it's going to be implemented in the game. So now that sets up Sunday's game the Lakers with an exciting victory in Boston, with Rondo going back to Boston
with a game winning shot. The Sixers beat the Lakers in La a competitive game Philadelphia and control almost the entire game. But there was no Lebron James in that game, and there was no Kyle Kuzma. And this will be a very intense game on Sunday afternoon. You know, the Lakers will be rested, they'll have not played since last night, and the Sixers, certainly with tomorrow to get ready for that game. It'll be exciting the Sixers and the Lakers.
I mean, on national TV. There's a reason they picked these games. And certainly over the last few years, the Sixers have had so many great battles with Lebron and obviously a supreme talent. He missed that game. He was very close to coming back but didn't play in Staples Center, So that should be special. And you know, these guys will have another opportunity to kind of work through some things, even though they'll be off tomorrow and trying to get
ready for that game. Tom Aginnis, we'll talk to you on Sunday afternoon. You got it, but thank you. Sixers trying to avenge a loss two weeks ago at Denver against the Nuggets, this time at relatively full strength. Welcome Tobias Harris to the seventy Sixers. Ben Simmons Cross Courts skipped in their side. Horrors that catch, the shout the Briers God and the Philadelphia fans love it.
Tobias Harris reigns in a triple and he quickly summons the crowd. Yeah. Scored another one on a float or right after that, part of a ten nothing run that jumps started the seventy sixers. They would lead it by ten after one thanks to this high energy play five seconds ago. But Connell was a dribble. But Connell in liddle a joel, he guides it up a misses the head, cork bas ships and burk on court bos you got
it thirty three twenty three. After a quarter of the seventy Sixers kept the double digit margin in their favor early on in the second out to JJ. Corner three by Reddick and that's good j J. Reddick and shooting lights out and Mike Malone calls time out. Great five by Jimmy Butler and the Sixers have opened up a twelve point lead. JJ was fantastic throughout the night, especially in the first half. He had eighteen points in sixteen minutes, seven to ten from the field, a perfect four for
four from outside the arc. But Denver into the second quarter on a twenty to four run, and that made the score tied at fifty six going into intermission. In the third, Ben Simmons was able to keep the Sixers in front. Simmons breaks it up. Yeah, jam, the Denver Nuggets can't stop the Simmons express. He acted as if he was gonna pass it. He cupped it, he drove it, and he hammered it. It was a seventy two sixty six Sixers lead, but the Nuggets charged back after that.
The Sixers lead was just one going into the fourth at eighty three eighty two. Would remained tight up until the closing minutes square at one oh three one oh three. From before that, it was the Sixers trying to wedge a little bit of a gap between themselves to Nights. Then Simmons of the ball ranamick with the screen at the right side Harris, Harris lifts shoots on plumbly heck god to bias Hers with a triple and the Sixers
lead by four one h one ninety seven. So a little bit after that, the Nuggets on a Mason Plummy dunk tied it up at one h three one oh three. Tobias Harris knocked down a jay that gave the seventy Sixers a lead for good. Joel Embiad battled all night long. He came up with a huge block on the league Beasley with around a minute and a half to go, and then on the other end, Joe was able to hit a shot in d seventy seconds to go. It be with a looking for jj Reddick instead j one
on up side again. Joke, it's three on the clock, He'll rise, He'll shoot. Tait's end. Hit be with two big plays at either end of the floor one minute to go that made it one thirteen, one oh five. Jimmy were with some free throws helped the Sixers ice it as they went on to win one seventeen ten. Gotta love the effort that Joel Embiad had tonight. He was questionable going into the game with a stomach bug,
but he battled despite things not going his way. On the offensive end, he was four of seventeen from the field, but seven of eight from the foul line, and he grabbed twelve rebounds and had four blocks, including that monstrous one on Malik Beasley six er shot, and even fifty percent from the floor for the game Nuggets just under forty nine. Sixers had four more three pointers than Denver ten verses six free throw line, a huge area where the Sixers made their hey twenty nine of thirty two
compared to Denvers twelve of thirteen. The Sixers were plus two on the glass. They had twenty three assists but seventeen turnovers. They were able to survive that in the win. JJ Reddick with thirty four points, the second highest total of his career, eleven and fifteen from the field, six of seven outside the arc twenty two for Dremmy Butler behind the strength of fourteen for fourteen shooting from the free throw line. He also had seven rebounds and five
assists to go with three steals. Tobias Harris fourteen point six to twelve two or three outside the arcade rebounds, three assists, Joel and bead with fifteen and twelve plus four blocks twelve for Ben Simmons, and he also had four rebounds and six dimes six for James Ennis. The third off the bench, he had three rebounds and two assists. Boban Marnyanovich with four points and two rebounds in his
seventy six Ers debut. Mike Scott would finish with two points and assist in his first game as a seventy sixer. Sixers now thirty five and twenty with the wind Nuggets dropped to thirty seven and eighteen. Up next for the seventy six ers only home game of the regular season against Lebron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. That is
