This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. He's the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame Show. It beat Swatson on the Glass and seventh damn heat Rosen down over to JJ three bonus guard running crops the Sixers postgame show right now on ninety seven five the Fanatic. A highly anticipated game in Toronto between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference, the Sixers and the Raptors. A

good contest. Unfortunately, the Sixes fell. Right now on the Sixes postgame Show, we head back to Toronto. Here from head coach Brett Brown. Correct, I'm just what I said. You know, it's when you start difficult to search for things that you know you need to to get better at. We're gonna need more from our bench. Our starting point guards had point guards had twelve turnovers and we're gonna need to do better there. I think the Jim Butler

acquisition is ridiculously exciting. I thought he was excellent tonight and throughout the game you could see signs of growth and we look forward to to seeing them again. And as I said on December the fifth. It's it's exciting to to feel and to sort of see, um, how good we can be and also the areas that we need growth in some of those positive flashes gonna give us anymore. In I mean defensively, if you if you go and you look at our first shot defense, it's

it was outstanding. It really was good. We get an a half core game and our first shot defense was outstanding. But you have holes when you know it isn't first shot and there's offensive rebounds and then you connect the dots with turnovers and you have some problems. Um, you know, I think that that that Jimmy, you know, showed that why he's an All Star. You know, he came in and gave us some tremendous things. Um, you give credit

to Toronto Valancunists had a Korean Night. You know, Joel was down and there were things in that game that you leave excited to to to look back and to grow. Where and Wire Digital talk about you know you talked about let's talk about Bend and in Jeet. I mean Ben almost had a triple devil, but he had seven turnovers. Joel was five for seventeen. A few and in games like this. You know you want just star players to

set one. And is also the reality that you know it's an eighty two game season and you know these things do happen, and it's uh, it's always how do you respond? How do you rebound? You know, how do you genuinely feel like we're getting better? Um? And I think, as I said before, we can better assess our group after Christmas. This was a tremendous opportunity to learn more.

And as I also said, we leave, we we leave disappointed, but we also leave I think smarter in the areas that we have to get better out twitter HEAs, did you see Joel struggle in tonight? Um, you know they did a good job of going at him, double teaming him. Um, when he went baseline and Spence spun back to the middle, they came at him. You know, we gotta help him.

I got to help him more in that environment. Um, they did a good job of pushing him off a block, you know, probably two or three more feet further than than then we had holped. And they did a good job of pressuring him in general. And you know that's part of it. He's that good and he is having a year that warrants sort of you know, high level accolade discussion. But tonight was just a down night for him, and uh and I got to help him. I got

to help him. That was Sixer's head coach Brett Brown outside of the visiting locker room at the Philadelphia seventy Sixers fall tonight at so Sco Ship Bank Arena in Toronto, one thirteen, one h two. Once again, welcome to the

Sixers postgame show here and the Sixers radio network. I'm Divine gives with you as we go into the game overall tonight discussing the loss unfortunately, head back to Scotia Bank Arena one more time a little bit later to check in Sixers radio voice Tim againness and of course the highlights to shut down our postgame coverage once again.

A highly anticipated contest between these two coming into the game tonight, two of the top three teams in the Eastern Conference, Toronto boasting a twenty and five record and the Sixers a seventeen and eight record at the start of this game and a chance for the Sixties to show something against again a formidable opponent like Toronto. But the Raptors show why they are at the top of the Eastern Conference with this win. One thirteen, one oh two.

Brett Brown pointed out Kawhi Leonard was just phenomenal tonight four the Toronto Raptors with thirty six points in thirty five minutes, thirteen of twenty four from the floor, nine rebounds,

But that does not tell the story. The other part of it is the five steals that he had, the activity defensively causing issues on the other side of the BA basketball, specifically for Sixer's point guard Ben Simmons once again eight points, ten rebounds, eleven assists, Unfortunately the blemish the seven turnovers, and it just seems like he has to figure out the Toronto Raptors and what they may do differently than some of the other teams that he's

had success against in the past as they head deeper into the season and hopefully in the postseason, and maybe an opportunity to see the Raptors later on in the spring. Six Ers fall one more time one thirteen, one h

two led by Jimmy Butler. A strong performance by Jimmy Butler thirty eight points on fifteen of twenty seven from the field, four of seven from behind, the three point line in thirty eight minutes and nineteen seconds with ten rebounds to go along with Joel Embie struggled as you just heard Coach Brown discussed thirty six minutes but only five of seventeen ten points, twelve rebounds, five assists, but just could not find a rhythm, having foul trouble early,

getting into foul trouble late. The runs made by the Toronto Raptors and the up and down nature of the game did not allow Joe Lmbi to establish himself and established the paint like we have seen all season long with his strong performing so far through twenty six games on the season. On the other side, we go back to Scotia Bank Arena in Toronto to hear from the man, the voice of the Sixers radio right here, and that will be Tom McGinnis right here on the Sixers postgame show.

The Fanatic Sixers down one thirteen, one h two at the hands of the Toronto Raptors in Toronto, dropping their record to

seventeen and nine. The Toronto Raptors improved to twenty one and five, still sitting at top of the Eastern conference. I'm Divine givens. This is the Sixers postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. We had back to Toronto right now to check in with the man, the voice of the Sixers radio broadcast, and that would be Tom

again as time. Another opportunity for the Sixers again having a nice run of wins over the last couple of weeks, especially with the addition of Jimmy Butler, a chance to really show in front of a national audience, and of course here on the Fanatic on the Sixers Radio Network, a chance to show what they're all about. Against the top team in the Eastern Conference, and unfortunately things did not go the way we planned. Now they did, and you know, they kind of fell part in the fourth quarter.

You know, to be outscored by ten in the game, you're trailed by one going into the last quarter, and you gotta give Toronto all kinds of credit. There was little plays. It wasn't just Kawhi Leonard obviously Valatunists, and Valatunists looked like the Valetunists of old. It's a seventh season, and you know, he looked like a young, you know, a very effective low post player. And many times it was against embat and I can't emphasize enough the overall

play of Siakam. It's a little shocking when you look at that plus minus and he was only plus two because he did a whole slew of little things and even guys like Delon Wright and Van Fleet, you know

they didn't score. I mean Van Fleet had five and Delon Wright two, but they gave him minutes in terms of resting Lowry and Danny Green and the Niche Baca was effective with eighteen and the Jimmy and Kawhi that you could say they kind of canceled one another out in that Butler at thirty eight and Kawhi Leonard had thirty six. But Devon, you watched the game, and you've watched enough basketball, and this is just an observation. It's

not an evaluation or anything like that. But Kawhi Leonard with his athletic ability, like it's like he rises about his shots. It's almost like every shot is open. If it were an elevator. He takes the elevator to the sixth floor and everybody's still down in the lobby. I mean, he just rises above the defender and gets open looks. He's got perfect road, he's got perfect form and as a result, perfect back has been on the ball and

you're almost shocked when it doesn't go in. He ended up missing a little bit, but his first five threes went in. Whereas Jimmy's uncanny, He's got so many different ways to score. And and Butler's not blowing by, He's not going from first gear to fifth. He you know, by one guy by another guy, twists inside, gets by a third guy in banks and in He's just he's a you know, in his own way, he's just as incredible. But the scoring comes in different ways from these two guys,

and obviously they're really really good. And Leonard just he makes I've sent it time and again. He makes it look so easy, like he straight line cuts, you know, on an angle, like he's just he's a very strong player. And you know now that we haven't been he didn't

play against us for two years. He only played nine games last year and you know with the Spurs they didn't see fit to even play him against the six or so we're really getting We've seen him twice now, twice too many, i might add, And we're gonna get you know, if he stays here, we're gonna get a steady diet of this guy. And everyone talked about going through Lebron in the East, Well, guess what it might be.

You have to go through Leonard here in Toronto. They were very effective and let's be honest, as Brett Brown said, they go way disappointed. This was a disappointing finish for all of the excitement that we're a measuring stick type game and how Toronto took care of business in the end. Yeah, and you talk about Kawhi Leonard and all the things that he does well offensively, and defensively, his energy, his

basketball IQ is smarts overall town. When you watch the game, you see Ben Simmon just has a little bit of trouble against him because he makes him pick up the pace a little bit more, changes the pace more than Ben Simmons even once too. And as you pointed out earlier,

you don't want to do it, but it's there. The seven turnovers is something that he has to fix against these top teams, right, So, okay, that's that's a good point, and that is so maybe Ben gets by the first level of defense, say at the three point arc or beyond,

and then he's going inside. And I thought they did a great job helped defensively sliding over and running two players, not just at Simmons, but it in beat like they Kyle took two charges on Joel and they were doubling him, you know, leaving not strong side corner, but leaving from the top, and Joel didn't always handle effectively passing back out to Reddick. So one thing here and they're having a photo op tonight with their president and general manager,

Messiah Jerry. Okay, think of what he did. He let go of the coach of the Year at Dwayne Casey. They have had so many straight other than Atlantic Division championships. I mean, obviously Boston was really good the last couple of years too. But and then he goes out and gets Kawhi Leonard. Does that say executive of the Year. I mean that that was a risky play. Now it's also from their prospective risky to get into the playoffs and not advance as has been the case over recent years.

But he hires Nick Nurse and puts his team in position with you know, one of if not you know, certainly in the top grouping of two or three players in Leonard in this league leading them, and they're they're in a very solid position. Now the Sixers have the same game, albeit back home. But for the Sixers again, they beat Toronto there last year. For the last two years they've beaten at the center, and that's where you

gotta go. You gotta you know, the object is to be playing your best, best positioned as best as possible at the end of the year, and then be playing your best basketball Lord willing with help, and then we'll see where it goes. But it's obviously it looks like it's coming through Toronto for whomever wants to get out of the East Town again. His life from Toronto Scotia Bank Arena with the Sixers fell one thirteen one or

two time final one. When you mentioned Messiah Jerry and that Kawhi Leonard trade, the one that really goes unnoticed

is the Danny Green acquisition as well. When you add that depth on the perimeter and you speak of og Ana Nobi and Delon Wright and Fred van Vleet and all these players, but Danny Green has championship experience, if not for the big shot by Ray Allen, we're probably talking about in NBA Finals MVP, and Danny Green as well, just like Kawhi Leonard, and he brings that to this team with the Toronto Raptors, and as you pointed out, it now looks like it runs through them with so

much experience. No, right, Danny Green was not a huge factor in this game. He was two of nine, But to your point, he spread an Outstanley defensive player in this league and he gives you a perimeter threat, and you're right, And then you know the other thing is he drafted Jerry, drafted Peartle, who was also part of that trade, and then it's now with the Spurs, so they're good for the Sixers. You know this, if it was a measuring stick, you gotta take, you know, take

under advisement where you are right now. And now you've got another big game, in fact, a back to back set of games with Detroit. It's not the end of the world. Like I said, you know, you have to come up here and try to gain the victory and try to you know, prove that you can win here. But it's not the end of the world. There's certainly there were a lot of positives with Jimmy and some of the things that JJ end up having a good night scoring and whatnot. But obviously the bench has to

get better. The basketball, the security with the ball, the turnovers have to be cut down once and for all. At some point, the Sixers have got to get better at that if they want to become the team they've want to be. So in the end, a tough game, Toronto played really well, particularly in the second and the fourth, and that was the difference tonight. Tom. Thanks so much for you, Tim, and we'll catch up with you on Friday in Detroit. Than you got him in toom again,

it's again live from Scotia Bank Arena. Sixers fall site of the six is Falling one thirteen, one h two. The Toronto Raptors are a very good team. And if this was the measuring stick, as Tom Again has pointed out, now, it's early in the season. So that's the good part about it. You're twenty six games and it's not game number seventy nine where you start to panic. It's twenty six. You have plenty of time to figure things out about this basketball team and the identity of who you are.

When on the other side, we will finally get to the highlights called by that man Tom Again. It's right here on the Sixers Radio Network. The Delaware Bluecoats have a rod the sixest official NBAG League affiliate. It's opening the all new seventy six is Field House in Wilmin'ton. Fortunately, Philadelphia fell one thirteen to one to two in Toronto at Scotia Bank Arena. I'm divine, givens. This is the Sixers postgame show as we get ready for the highlights of the game. Sixers off to a solid start in the

first quarter. Ben Simmons with a layup over Kyle Lowry early to make it four to two, Wilson Chandler and Jimmy Butler with back to back three pointers ten to six at that point, and Ben Simmons standing aggressive on the block making it fourteen to twelve Sixes at that point. An overall versatile game. As we know talent for Ben Simmons, he shows and displays some of that in the open floor right here to Jimmy Butler, pricked up by Lowry, left hand dribble, leaves over it goes behind his back

to Butler. Quitt a play by Simmons and Jimmy Butler puts on the Simmons of eighty two defenders with the behind the back dribble and feats Butler for an eag scorer eighteen to twelve. What a play by Simmons. Drew the attention to be able to hit Jimmy Butler for that open bucket underneath the basket again as Tim again his pointed out eighteen to twelve sixers. JJ Reddick with a number number another jumper pardon me in the first

quarter to make it twenty fourteen sixes. Then t J McConnell coming in, inserting some of that energy to Joel and bad for a strong finish. TJ picks it up sixers across big court. McConnell of the dribble to Joel. Joel Si steps everybody get jambs the ball. Joel a bead caps off a fast break with a two hand stuff well tiped on target, passed by McConnell and it beat dunks the ball. Sixers. Dow lead by six twenty

seven twenty one. Always amazing to see a big man running the floor that way, finishing strong at the room twenty nine twenty three sixers after one. Starting off the second quarter, t J McConnell again with another assist to JJ Reddick for the layup, making it twenty one twenty three. Ben Simmons again strong in the open floor, at this time his own finish and Chandler down the floor to Bed Simmons in the lane, losses by piece, but Champs

at bench. Simmons pull the hammer pronown with a left hand, scoops up the mouse. Peace gets back on defense. What a fight by Chandler. Sixers go up by three strong play thirty nine thirty six. Ben Simmons Jimmy Butler with the layup and the foul to make it forty two thirty eight. Butler followed up that one with a three pointer from Ben Simmons to make it forty six forty sixers. But the Toronto Raptors continue in their run, led by their all star Kawhi Leonard. Kawhi Leonard keeps it, drives,

it goes right in it beat and slams it. Oh Man high off the floor. It's down hard with the right hand jam by Kawhi Leonard. He's got sixty. The Raptors tied. Joel Ebad had to be very careful. They're already in foul trouble. That tied it up forty six forty six. Og Onenobi with his own dunk after that went to make it forty eight forty six at the end of two heading into the locker room, fifty three

forty nine raptors. JJ Reddick starts off the third quarter with the bucket, Reddick to it, beat out top Joel two dribbles of the right hand, back out the reddick, Reddick for three, runing around and good he got it, got to shooters touch. JJ Reddick finished tonight twenty five points, five of twelve from behind the three point line out of sixteen from the floor for the veteran sharp shooting Jimmy Butler also strong from behind the three point line.

Butler for three for the Sixers, and that's good. Jimmy Butler knocks down a triple and a much needed basket for the Sixers seven h seven ago on the third that meany sixty six sixty one raptors, seventy eight seventy sixes after three seventy eight seventy six raptors. After three quarter number four, it was Joel en b driving strong to the basket. D Vala tunis on Joel, I'm a left wink jabs to have upfake driving I beat slaps

is a powerful place to begin the fourth. Joela be got the stepbot Ballot Tunors with a great up fake with the basketball and a two half step driving in full the left wing Sixers back in front by one. IF beat with ten seventy nine seventy eight and b Wood finished with ten points and twelve rebounds in thirty six minutes and twenty five seconds. Unfortunately, that one looked like it was really gonna get the seventy six is

going gonna be a strong finish for the team. A good fourth quarter, but Joe and this Valen Tunas was a problem. JJ Reddick hits it through remaking ninety six eighty eight, Pascal Siaka with the steel in the dunk ninety eight eighty eight, but Kawhi Leonard really put the finishing touches on the game. Reddick gets off the screen. Twires of the Year hit it out, no good rebound Kawhi Leonard and now Toronto on the book brightled up letter driving down to day. Let her gets another right

hand jamp Hey fuckers slam fight Kawhi Leonard. He fight just be the best player in the game right now. Wow, Leonard at a whole another level, thirty six points, Coast to coast, right hand slam and Leonard. Wood finish with thirty six points on the night. Phenomenal shooting thirteen of twenty four for the Defensive Player of the Year candidate and again the final in Toronto one thirteen, one oh

two raptors over the seventy Sixers.
