An excellent way for the seventy six Ers two end the two thousand and seventeen calendar year on New Year's Eve knocking off the Phoenix Suns one twenty three to one ten. Brian Selzer from six Ers dot Com with you on the postgame show. Brett Brown speaking right now in progress, just it had to be a team effort, you know, the attention that he received on pick and roll, especially with Joel Ladario Amia, whomever was was usually two people. And I think that that covering Robert did a really

good job. You know, we had we had foul trouble for a lot of the game, you know, and I think four out of our five staters were playing with you know, four or five fouls throughout the fourth period. And uh, I think that we did a really good job. I think Robert was excellent on BOOKA. He is really hard to guard. Really, you know, if you weren't coaching against him, he's somebody you'd pay to go see. I think he's got a real balance and a real ability

to put to put points on the board. Um, you know, it's always concerned. You get caught up in the game. You're just trying to win the game at that stage, and you know, it's always on your mind. The way he plays is always there's always a chance, you know, and it's like with everybody but him especially. I think the fact that he just hasn't practiced, you know, the awkward moments, the the unorthodox moments, scare you a little bit more um because of of what I just said.

But we'll we'll learn more. And I think that when you look at sort of his plus minus a plus thirty two, you know, I haven't seen that before. I don't remember seeing that before. That that's indicative of what he means to us. You know. It was that time when he got his fourth out, we took him out that they went on that that run when we are up eighteen and so we'll learn more about Joe very soon. I don't know, I assume. So do you feel like you're teams st um? I think that we have an

appropriate fear that we're not. I think the the the goal of trying to grow our program and make the playoffs is always there and we understand, you know, what really has to be done if you had to achieve that. I use it all the time as a way to say that that is not of playoff standard that that's not going to get it done and or that is

going to get it done. And I think that the locker room and the spirit and their work ethic, their their ability to understand the development going forward and put it in good days, and they do add up all that normal stuff that you've heard me say for all my days in Philadelphia. You know, it resonates. I think it's part of our culture and they feel like they are getting better. Whatever it is, let's let's bottle it up market it we'd all be rich. Um. You know,

he he's a team favorite. You hear me say that often. The team loves him, and you know, with his broken English and his big heart, there is a fondness that we all have for Dario in a respect that we all have. And uh, you know him and Joel peering up and him playing off Ben when we post Ben and finding open spots, and you know, making the threes always is a great thing. Him stretching the floor, but he sure is lately playing good basketball. Handled all those

extra free throws in the fourth. I thought he was great. I thought Ben down the stretch, you know, down the stretch we went on. I'm told like an eighteen to six run to close out this game, and you know, I thought we executed things really well. I think that Ben took control of the game, and I think he was confident going to the line. I think he jumped back in this. You know, he had a down game in Denver. We were lucky to win with him really

not playing to his best. And I thought that him making three throws, him just walking down a game at the end and executing things, I thought he was special tonight. Seventy Sixers head coach Brett Brown after the Sixers one twenty three one ten victory, twenty seven points for Dario Charts, twenty two piece for Joel and beating JJ Redick. Ben Simmons with eleven of the Sixers final points in the last six minutes of regulation. He ended the night with

twenty one. Tom McGinnis is standing by. We'll talk about this one a little bit more. A New Year's Eve victory for the Sixers one twenty three, one ten over the Suns. It's the postgame showing the Sixers raiding network, Sixers closing out a five game season high tying road trip in Phoenix to night they're winners won twenty three to one. Ten Brian Seltzer with you on the post game show. We joined Tom McGinnis now, who had an

excellent call from Talking Stick Resort Arena. Tom. The starters really stepped up in particular, and Bead getting the Sixers going in that fourth quarter and Ben Simmons really finishing it off with some threes from JJ Reddick. Yeah, those guys were great. And again, when was the last time the Sixers had four players with twenty or more? And again JJ, that three sealed the deal by Reddick. But Simmons, what a great finish for him, Just really powerful play.

And Embiid was good throughout in Spurs and again that number, that plus minus number of thirty two is incredible. It's I mean, Brett Brown said he doesn't know that he's ever seen that before. That's incredible. And it goes to more than just his points or his blocks. It's his presence, it's what he means in the lane, his ability to control the glass. Great win for the Sixers. Phoenix has been playing well and for the Sixers to come hit in here and you know, win to win back to back.

This was a quick back to back. When you play in Denver's a long night there. It's a far far airport from downtown. And this game was at six and boy, they needed an energized in Bead And let's just cross our fingers and hope that that he's okay. But a great victory for the Sixers on the road. And that's pretty good to be ten and ten through twenty road games. And as you know, Brian done with the fire out games.

In terms of the Western Conference, they just have San Antonio, Oklahoma and me because if memory serves in terms of their road trip, and that's never happened before that I can recall for the Sixers where they they have not taken a second half of the schedule, if you will, game and trip out West. So they're going to be any ease for most of the rest of the season,

and that I think should bode well. Seventy six Ers topple the Phoenix Suns one twenty three one ten, big finish with thirty one points in the fourth quarter, and you step back, Tom, there was that stretch with the Sixers lost nine out of ten heading into the final week week and a half of the month of December.

They were challenging schedule twists. They were a handful of injuries, but here they are two straight, three out of four, and you can start perhaps to see a light or maybe the schedule has some pockets where there's a little bit more at home, but all in all, a young group trying to find its way through the ups and downs to come hand in hand with a long season. No,

it's true. And when you hear Brett Brown and you aired the press conference, Brian, and he looks at a coach you talk about long lens and bigger picture, like he almost has to be informed with what the home record is versus the road record, because as you know, to your point, he's looking at the development and progress and where the team hopes to go, and some of these things that we get into are he's looking at a bigger picture how the team is playing, because sometimes

you can play better basketball and still lose. And you know, obviously the winning is the biggest thing, but as a coach, you can feel embolden. And I think Brett Brown, even during this spell for the Sixers, has felt like they've been making progress, and even tonight, like I thought, in the second quarter kind of gets buried a little bit.

The Sixers had like an eight, ten, twelve point lead, and they had a rash of possessions that came away empty, whether it was turnovers or poor shooting, and it was a sloppy part of the game. And even Dario Shiret who came over, felt that way about the third quarter. And so I think that the Sixers can clean that up a little bit, be more protective of the basketball. Ratchet down their turnovers. They're averaging eighteen a League wars thirtieth.

Get down, you know, try to get that thing down where it's not the twenty plus turnovers twenty one in this game. Get that. Do you protect that basketball? And there's a lot of areas for growth. But again, the height, excuse me, the fight and the spirit, it's just it's redundant, I know it, but it's it's such embodies what this team is about. It. It's a fun team to watch play and in bed makes it even more fun. The spirit always good enough beat from Tom McGinnis any time

of year. Tom, A happy New Year to you, and hopefully you get a seat at that dinner party table. Right Well, I gotta be honest, I was invited, but my mother lives out here in the opportunity to spend some time with her and always special. But Brian, thanks to you and happy New Year as well. All righty, Tom McGinnis calling a good one tonight, a win for the Sixers to cap two thousand and seventeen one twenty

three to one ten over the Suns. Sometimes highlight calls coming up as we close out the post game, showing the Sixers Raider Network seventy six Ers one last time in two thousand and seventeen. This is a part of the story of how it went. It was a really auspicious beginning to tonight's game as the Sixers snapped off a string of fourteen consecutive points and here's Cobby did for three wide open but a good weekside rebound charge back in the lane, Ben, he goes up with the

right hand lamps. Sorry by Tyson, Jandler and the rest of the Suns. Sixers would take a thirty eight thirty two lead and a quarter number two. The second period began in some really good form much like the first did, as the Sixers went on a fifteen to three run. Suns started to charge back, but Ben Simmons made sure the Sixers had some energy going into the half three o the clock. Back the Roddick, they double team. He throws it up and it hit the glass and it

got rib and now here's Simmons with a slam. What a play by Rddick. He flicked it up just so it hit the rib and inside Simmons gets it from a mirror and Ben Simmons throws it down. Sixty three forty nine Sixers in front at the break. They would open up the lead to as many as eighteen points on multiple occasions in the third quarter. Then the Sons got going with Marquis Chris and TJ. Warren and Devin Booker. They went on a twenty four to six run even

took a lead at eighty seven to eighty four. Joel Embiad steady things down in the final minutes of the third It bead handles it against Josh Jackson leads there to help give coverage. Joel shoots it and gets it at a foul so Joel Embiid helped send the Sixers to a ninety two eighty nine lead going into the fourth quarter. He would also score the first four points of the final frame Sixers, keeping the Suns at bay.

They twice closed within a point. In the final five minutes of regulation, JJ Reddick throwing the hammer down with his touch from outside the arc. Joel handles it against Tyson Chandler. JJ off a goalscreen. He's up and the shot is good. JJ Reddick off a driple hand off. I about to say and it Beat hands it off and Reddick puts it in. That helped make it a one nineteen one, a eight game in favor of the Sixers, as they would close out the Suns to win their finale.

Of twenty seventeen. Seventy six Ers shoot fifty six percent from the field, the Suns forty two and a half percent each team with ten three pointers the six or twenty seven to thirty four from the line Phoenix twenty six of thirty four the Sixers plus eight on the glass.

They survived a total of twenty one turnovers. Dario Charitch led the way with twenty seven points nine to thirteen from the field, four to five from three, twenty two points apiece for Joel and Beat and JJ Reddick and Beat also with nine rebounds and five assists plus two block shots. He finished with a plus thirty two rating in the game Ben Simmons with eleven points in the

final seven minutes. He finished with twenty one overall, nine rebounds, six assists, three steals, and three blocked shots seventy Sixers. With tonight's win, they get their second in a row. They go three and two on the road trip, and they are now seventeen and nineteen heading into two eighteen, while the Suns dropped to fourteen and twenty four. Next game for the Sixers is on Wednesday, seven o'clock versus

the San Antonio Spurs. Pregame coverage on some of our Sixers rated network affiliates at six fifty
