This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. Seventy Sixers have enjoyed a great twenty eighteen in South Philadelphia and end of the home schedule on a very positive note tonight toppling the Toronto Raptors. You know, it just sounds good to say that, regardless of who or who

was not out there for the Raps. Final score tonight one twenty six one O one, seventy Sixers are winners against their Atlantic Division and Eastern Conference rivals, and that means the Sixers are now within two and a half games of Toronto for the league, not only in the division, but also the conference standings as well. Ben Simmons was fantastic tonight, twenty six points, twelve rebounds, twenty second double double of the season, good for fourth best in the NBA.

Twenty seven points eleven rebounds for Joel and b twenty two for JJ Reddick, a well rounded effort that the Sixers received. Also some good minutes from the bench. One twenty six one one the final. My name is Brian Selzer. Let's join in progress right now. Brett Brown and he went to Vegas and you know, played in the showcase, and we told that to him to go play basketball, with the endgame being we really do see you coming into especially the West coast trip and having a chance

to play. Um. We came into it tonight when with Wilson Um injured and you know, Mike gets those two quick fouls that there was, he was going to be playing regardless of the quick follows, and so it happened sooner. It was calculated, It was pre planned that he was going to play, not to the volume of minutes that he did, but for all those reasons it played out like it did. Caired up with Joel Um. Was his responsibility tot Um some of that. Some of that. I think you saw him at a five, you saw him

at a four. You know, thing changed a little bit when he's either at a four or five. I thought that that initially when he came in the game, you know, he made an impact going to bat balls out of here, he jumps twice. Well, he really does jump quick, and he can hit a floor and go back up if he misses the verse one. And I just think that his activity to riches point the versatility where you can

play a five or a four. Was fantastic, and I thought he came in and did some great things to see from him during this trip that would keep him in the rotation after some of the things we just talked about. I feel like his ability to go block a shot at a rim is certainly helpful. I think that his ability when he's at a four to switch out on things gives him an out of the layer to play at a five or a four. He is a deer in open court. When you watch him run,

he really can move. He gets up and down the court, and I just loved his energy. He's somebody that we've paid attention to for a while in relation to trying to get him on a court, and tonight he did a good job and we felt it was his time. Seventy Sixers head coach Brett Brown following the Sixers one twenty six one o one win over the Toronto Raptors.

A lot of good things from the group for the seventy Sixers, led by the performance of three starters Ben Simmons, JJ Reddick and Joel Embiid, all of whom finished in the twenty point plus category twelve points, seven rebounds, seven assists, three steals for Jimmy Butler, and the bench really came up strong tonight, sixteen for a con cork Mose Jonah Bolden out standing with four points, nine rebounds, four block shots, just the third player on the team to reach four

block shots in a single game this season. And this was the type of win. It doesn't I know, I get it. Some of the top guys weren't out there for the Raptors. No Kawhi Leonard, no Surgebaka, no Jonas valentunist, Kyle Lowry, he was six or sixteen tonight, didn't play last night in Toronto's win over Cleveland, But just a to get a win over the team named the Toronto Raptors. In my opinion, that counts for something in bigger picture

the Sixers. This is a real challenging stretch of the schedule coming up, not just the five consecutive road games that are on the horizon beginning on Tuesday, but after that. If you look at the January schedule, a lot of the elite teams and the NBA's are on it. For the Sixers, just to get some momentum going into an important time of the year, big for the Sixers, and they got a nice win tonight one twenty six one oh one. I believe Joel Embiid maybe at the podium.

Nothing from Joel embid all right, So we will stay tuned and see if perhaps we can get him at some point in time. If not, we will hear from another man of great importance and stature in the seventy sixers community, and that is Tom McGinnis coming up on the other side. Seventy six Ers Over the Raptors one twenty six two one oh one. A good note to end the two thousand eighteen home schedule one for the Sixers.

Just think about how many outstanding moments there were here at the Center in South Philadelphia. You go back to last winner when the team really got things rolling, the lengthy winning streak, the postseason series against the Miami Heat, the promise that this year has begun with, and we wrap it up with a win over the Raptors tonight, bringing Tom again as time. Why don't we just start with how the team did at home this season? Thirty nine and five in regular season action going back to

January one, and pretty amazing Jordan esque number here. Yeah, center, Wow, you put it that way that that's fantastic, right the way they finished last year the season and then obviously this year getting sixteen of nineteen here at the Center. That that's what you're looking for with a team that's looking for, you know, consistency and you know, sustained success.

You know, one of the building blocks in that whole formula is a home court advantage and the sellout crowds the Philadelphia fans, Sixers fans specifically amazing and it shows and this team plays well here, you know, and tonight, boy, you know again a lot of other franchises refer to their top players as their core four. I think it's safe to say the Sixers have that and be Butler, Simmons and Reddick, who sometimes is not included in there,

but he's been a tremendous player for the Sixers. And then you know, you get some role performers like TJ and work on Quarklas has really come on. Shamon has shown a lot, not specifically tonight. Tonight you got a nice standout performance by Jonah boldin a bit of a surprise, and it bodes well. But this will be a telling trip for the Sixers, certainly against these top teams with Boston, Utah, Portland, the Clippers, and then Phoenix has played a lot better

as well. Tonight they were in a barn burner and lost. How about this score in three overtimes, Brian, look at that scoreboard. It says the seventh quarter it was one sixty four. Washington beat the Suns in three overtimes. So I think the board might be set up for hockey year. But so seven doesn't really apply to hoops, but what a score. So Phoenix has played better and that'll be the final game on the trip. It really amounts to an eight or nine to eight trip for the Sixers

and a marquee game. I mean the Sixers playing in national television in Boston for the second time. They played the very first game of the season national TV and now you know on ABC on Tuesday on Christmas Day. The NBA's owned Christmas, if you will. From a programming standpoint, they do an outstanding job. And for the Sixers to be in that mix looks. We've traveled on Christmas Day for almost every year that I've been here and not a play on Christmas Day is pretty cool for the

second straight year. Last year the Sixers were in New York and that'll be a great game. Boston's lost three in a row, but they had won eighth straight and certainly a very competitive, intense ball game coming up on Christmas time. I would say I need to correct myself, but Twitter has already done it for me. Incorrect on my part to say thirty nine and five, because of course there was the one designated home game ian London, so thirty nine and four here in south Field if

he regardless, it's pretty pretty good. Let's talk about two Australians. Ben Simmons, fantastic Key and up the Sixers fast break attack. Thirty three points on the break is season best. And then Joe Bolden getting some early run and not disappointing with four blocks. Now he really did and uh, you know again Wilson Chandler was out, so Mike Moscala starts and coach said they had intended to go to Bolden.

And you know, like he's an intriguing player in that he has the size and his coach said he can really run the floor and now he blocks shots. He had three early in the game, and that's tremendous off the bench. Look, when when you're a young player, now again the formulas change a little bit because you got to be able to hit it open three. But if you can defend and rebound and set screens and do the little things, well that can you can play. And

that that's what he did. I mean, he was a force out there at the defensive end, and he was active. He got those rebounds and then he does have the capability of making shots. So again, the Sixers a mere Johnson for whatever reason, has not had a you know, that's not that he hasn't instead, he just hasn't played that much. And so coach went with Jonah Bolden, and it'll be interesting to see if he's able to play on the road. He had a, like I said, a little bit of a crack in his fibula earlier in

the season. He had played prior to tonight, in the nineteen previous six Ers games, he'd only played three times, and tonight was his tenth overall appearance, and for him to get out there and the guts of the game and have an impact was really good. And then regarding Ben, he was dominant. I mean he has been dominant over the last couple of weeks, you know, like with two triple doubles. He could have had another one to night, but he has been a force down low and he's

talking about running the floor. Simmons had that one breakout dunk where you know, it's extraordinary. He's seen an athlete like that, an athlete like that in the open court and he was amazing, and you got to keep hope he keeps it up because it's going to be important. Particularly Boston defended him really well in the playoffs last year, and he's got a show that he can play against

those top teams and still dominate. The way he's been Ben Simmons twenty six points, twelve rebounds, eight assist to Oil and Be twenty seven and eleven. Jj Reddick with twenty two. We've talked a lot about the Boston Celtics. They're a little bit shorthanded themselves as well on the front court. Al Horfords miss seven games in a row, wouldn't be surprised if he did play Tuesday. But Aaron

Baines he was for anyone who watched. I mean, people will remember the corner three pointers and yeah that was big. But he was a body that the Celtics could throw one. I hate that honestly, Like, don't get me wrong, he was very effective. Let's not forget how the season ended, right, Well, went up against Aaron Baines and didn't score. So now Baines, the same thing with Valatunas. You just hate to see these guys go down. But yeah, Baines is a really

good player for them, and he'll be back. I think he's expected to be out like a month for that matter. Same thing with Valatunas for Toronto. But yeah, and there their dynamic change a little bit. You knew it would, you didn't know how it would manifest itself, but the minutes that Rogier got, the time that Brown got, and now Jaylen Brown was really good last night with twenty one against Milwaukee, but they're not going to be the same and your role changes when your minutes go down.

And now you know, like HB. Brown was saying last night, for Boston, if Brown gets in there and he's not a consistent outside shooter, well then Brad Stevens has got

other guys to go to. So but again, like you know, I hate to keep going back to this, but like with Toronto where the Sixers have not won in thirteen games, at some point you got to go into Boston and established that you can win there, not not just for for the outside, but for yourselves, because you know, Boston was able to play in the playoffs last year without

even winning on the road. They lost in Milwaukee all three times they came here, and they did well here, I mean without winning on the road, but without you know, they had the home court advantage. So again, these are all big games and no matter who's playing, you can only play who's out there. And the Sixers are playing well and hopefully they can get on the road. They at some point, if if having a home court, you know,

dominant record is part of the formula. Well so is getting you know, nineteen twenty twenty one road wins, and so far the Sixers are three games under here on the road, and uh but it's been great here and they're playing well and they're going out together. They've they've got a great chemistry and fight amongst themselves in terms of the spirit, I mean the fight that they play with, and so it'll be interesting to see against top flight

competition going out west. Tom mc guinness, enjoy your time with your family over the next couple of days. We will talk to you on Christmas Day at TD Garden. All right, thank you, bry Good night. One twenty six one one seventy six Ers beat the Toronto Raptors at home. Seventy six ers making one last appearance in South Philadelphia in the two thousand eighteen calendar year, and the draw their Atlantic Division nemesis, the Toronto Raptors, which had foiled them big time in the first two meetings of the year. Brian Selta, with you down here at the center, let us go through now the highlights called by the one or only Tom McGinnis. So the Raptors shorthanded tonight. No

Kawhi Leonard, no Sergibacca, no Jonas Valentunis. Seventy six ers, No Wilson Chandler, seventy six ers, Yes, Ben Simmons, Golan Wright is coming to the game. His shots no good rebound gregman Roe but blocked by a bed. What a play by Joe. Here's McConnell races it down the court, goes inside. Here's an a duncan by and be great play by McConnell. Reddick actually hand a hand on that play and Joel and b with the jam Ben Simmons

got the seventy sixers started. As you heard right there, Joel and bad T two ay sequence to ignite the seventy Sixers actually trailed by a point thirty twenty nine to a Toronto team that played last night. Toronto went up five early on in the second for the Sixers. They were live on the three ball to get back into it, DJ cross courds Skip Reddick steps into an open three out of transition and good Sixers with their

thirteenth fast breakpoint. JJ Reddick gets the team's first three great cross chords skip by McConnell's sixth straight by the Sixers that made it thirty nine thirty eight seventy Sixers. We will detail a little bit later just how good the seventy sixers transition game was. Ben Simmons about that man. He gave the Sixers a nice spurts to force a time lowry off the screen by Siaka Boston on the pull up and Butler pulls it out of min area, goes to Ben Simmons on a drive and down the

nade with the right hand. Jaff Nobody's faster than Simmons in the open court. Ben Simmons with a chap. Shortly after that, Joel Embiid returned to the court and help the Sixers to a solid sixty five fifty nine lead at the break. You just felt like momentum was on the seventy sixers side, and they really set the tone early on in the third quarter. Siaka from deep no good, Simmons almost daring him to shoot the three. Pascal siakam

for five. Well on a pass by Simmons to j. J. Reddick Man, he snapped it off from mid court eighteen to four run for the seventy Sixers to open things up. In the third quarter. Toronto responded and they were kind of nipping at the seventy sixers heels, but after three quarters of play it was ninety four seventy nine Sixers. It was some encouraging stuff for the team as they took it into the fourth quarter and Ben Simmons helped put the Raptors away. Here's Ben with a slam and

as six as just picking the Raptors apart. Ben Simmons from Jimmy Butler. Jimmy with his six assists, twenty point game. It was one oh seven to eighty seven at that point in time, as the seventy Sixers they would go on to in the end Coast passed the Toronto Raptors by the final of one twenty six to one oh one. Some final notes from the final stat sheet. Sixers ended up shooting fifty four percent from the field, the Raptors

under thirty nine percent. The Sixers didn't have to rely on the three ball a lot, just eight three pointers for the Sixers ten for Toronto. Sixers did do work from the foul line twenty six to thirty five. The Raptors were seventeen of nineteen. The Sixers were plus twelve on the glass against the Raptors tonight, and they committed thirteen turnovers to Toronto's fifteen. But fast break offense mentioned

then alluded to that a little bit ago. The Sixers with thirty three fast break points that was a season high for them that helped them overcome twenty eight fast break points from the Toronto Raptors. But Ben Simmons was such a huge part in leading the break for the seventy Sixers, getting their transition game going throughout the entire night.

Simmons twenty six points a season high for him, twelve rebounds his twenty second double double, eight assists for the reigning rookie of the year against just one turnover plus seventeen. He was eleven and thirteen from the field twenty seven, a game high for Joel Embid, ten to fifteen from the floor, seven and nine from the line. He had eleven rebounds his NBA best twenty eighth double double of

the year. JJ Reddick was plus twenty six. Scored twenty two points, four of five from outside the arcs, having twelve overall and five assists for JJ Reddick twelve points for Jimmy Butler in twenty eight minutes four of ten, seven rebounds, seven assists, three steals and a block shot. The bench had a nice night for the Sixers. Fur Con Cork Mods with sixteen points. Jonah Bolden with four

points but nine rebounds and four block shots. He was a great secondary rim protector in terms of a secondary rim protecting option for the seventy Sixers off the bench when Joel Embid took a seat. T J McConnell seven assists, no turnover, six points. Good stuff from the seventy sixers reserve. Cord tonight. With the win, the Sixers are now one and two on the season. Against the Toronto Raptors, they are twenty two and twelve overall. Twenty five and ten

is the Raptors record. In the seventy Sixers moving to third place and are just two and a half games in Toronto heading into a Christmas Day date with the Boston Celtics. You know, Boston was riding high for a while. They had won eight straight games, seemed like they were getting things headed in the right direction. But now they've actually dropped three straight. There on fifth place currently in the standings in the Eastern Conference, but one game back

in the lost column of the seventy six Ers. So round two between the Sixers and the Celtics, five o'clock game on Tuesday, Christmas Day from td Garden.
