This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. He's the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame Show and the Sixers win on Jimmy Butler with the game witty triple? Are you Kenny Bay the Sixers postgame show right now? The fanatic seventy Sixers get right back on track with a nice victory over the New York Knicks one thirty one to one on nine. Brian Seltzer with you from the center
and the scoreboard. Yes, especially in light of Monday's game against the San Antonio Spurs on the road. Looking very very good. From the outset of tonight's game, you could tell the Sixers we're out there competing with a good spirit, with a good purpose. They were trading baskets for a bit with the Knicks. They actually fell behind early on in the second quarter, but a very strong finished the first half set the seventy Sixers on their way into
the locker room with an eleven point lead. Their defense stiffened in the second half. As you heard Brett Brown say that was very much to his life and given the way that the defense had some problems against the Spurs in Monday's loss. Rebounding was great throughout in all and all when you scanned the final stat sheet, a very balanced performance from the Sixers, led by some of
their top players. Exactly what you want to see when the team was due for a rebound effort after game they weren't thrilled with on the road against the Spurs. Some of the big numbers that jump out the Sixers. They shot fifty three and a half percent for the game, fifteen of thirty from outside the arc. Landry Shammont with four of those three pointers. He set a career high with seventeen off the bench. The bench effort for the seventy Sixers very strong as well tonight, the reserves combining
for fifty two points of the game. Joel Embiid with twenty four points and ten rebounds, Jimmy Butler with twenty He got the Sixers started. Ben Simmons his fourth triple double of the season. That is good for number two in the NBA thirteen, eleven and ten, and he's at the podium right now. Ys communicated, I think it's just the flow of the offense. I think just final s about when we can, um, knowing you know where we're
able to be effective offensively down there. There was a sequence in the third right after they cut into three mb down to the new donked on Bondley and then the next possession down when TJ got that in down steel. Did you feel like that was when the King's going to change for it? Could you tell or maybe you felt differently after that time? No, I knew after the first half it was it was gonna change. I think I came out with a different mindset. I was kind
of pissed off just the way I was performing. I don't think I played well at all tonight. Um that if you look at numbers, obviously it's a triple doubles. In my head, I didn't play well at all. What about it in the first half of turning the ball of it's much not being aggressive enough? UM. I think those are the main things. Did you see like you were more aggressive after you got that tech? Yeah? Yeah? What about that? Turn it for you? Um? I think I was just frustrated, and you know, I want to
play well and perform for my team. I want to make sure we win every game that we play. And I think the second off was a different a different kind of Ben. You often rack up triple novels or something like. Tonight he said he didn't play well. Yeah, what exactly are you to say that I played well? I think I turned the ball over too much. I wasn't as aggressive the first off as the second. The numbers obviously, but in my head, you know, I don't
think I'll play that well. Raigning rookie the year, holding a high standard for himself, Ben Simmons afterwards with his fourth triple double of the season thirteen, eleven and ten. It's interesting, Certainly, I would never suggest that I have anywhere remotely close to the same mindset as a potential superstar in the NBA. But you know, I kind of thought that Ben was just like, you know, steady throughout
the night, seemed to play within himself. You know, Jimmy Butler got the team started tonight, he made his first four shots. Joel Embiid was a matchup that even though the Knicks set multiple bodies had him throughout the game, he was able to control and do what he did. And I thought, you know, Ben was very steady operating things, playing in control, maybe a little bit loose in some spots, but all it all seemed like he was fine. Nothing to turn her nose up bat but interesting insights there
from Ben Simmons. Clearly not played with the way he played in the first half. As he said, you saw a different type of Ben in the second half, and that was a big part of the Sixers opening this thing up. They led by his man. He's twenty six points in the one thirty one, one to nine victory over the next a triple double for Ben Simmons, double double for Joel and Bid, Jimmy Butler with the smooth twenty points, and Night got to the free throw line a lot where he was eight for ten, career high
seventeen for Landry Sham and Tom McGinnis standing by. We'll see if we can hear from some more players and the man who called this game himself. tough one against the San Antonio Spurs on Monday. The New York Knicks we're in town for the second time this season. Jimmy Butler felt like he did not have a great game versus the Spurs. Well hit a great start tonight. Jimmy Butler's got six to pace of sixers. He drives and had nobody stops him and he jams it. Little communication break down his hardaway pleading within his Canter're like, do you know who I'm guardens is Jimmy Butler and that man Jimmy Butler hit his first four shots in
the night. Sixers had a seventeen to twelve lead. Joel Embiid was another player that the Knicks had trouble coming up with answer for. Reddick feeds a bead doll left them lane. Joel puts the ball behind his head and makes a dribble move against Vonoley comes back middle Vionley knocks Away and Joel with exact same players a moment ago a bit of a stance kill hooky two twenty five at that point of the first quarter of the seventy sixers or in control thirty eight thirty three after
one in the second JJ Reddick reaching a milestone. Reddick off the embed screen. JJ makes him move to the left wing. Two dribbles, pull up long two bucket j J Reddick reads the play. He'll take that long shot if it's there forty six thirty seven and for JJ Reddick is ten thousand point. JJ Reddick is specialist from beyond the arc. And the seventy Sixers have one of your young guys make a energizing deposit going into the break. Here's Corkboles on the right side. Three ball got it
downtown from Turkey Town. It's good and the field goal for the Sixers puts it up to sixty nine fifty seven, adding a new wrinkle to the Gulf Sixers one and a half with a sixty and nine sixty one advantage. But as we if you were listening, might have heard Ben Simmons say some of us did. He wasn't pleased with Ben Simmons with his performance in the first half, so in the second half, he said, he came out
a different kind of Ben. Ben Simmons driving on Bondley, knocks him away and jams him with the right hand and then stairs him down. Oh that made an eighty one seventy three to Sixers. This was a game where they always seemed like they were essentially in control that even though the Knicks were hanging around at some points, they never really gonna take command of this game, and
the Sixers they opened things up. They had a ninety nine eighty five lead after three quarters, and they just kept piling it on with the defense clamping down on the forty Wilson Chandler to Mike Moscala for three ball game triple. It's good one sixteen ninety three, five minutes to go. The Sixers in a route now, and the Sixers still had some more left in it for the final half of that first fourth quarter. I begg your pardon. They wanted to win this one by the final of
one thirty one to one on nine. Some notes from the final statue. Sixers shot fifty three and a half percent from the field, New York forty three percent overall, But what was more telling was in the second half, when the Sixers held them to just thirty three percent shooting. Sixers fifteen of thirty from outside the arc and even fifty percent ten trays were the Knicks. The Sixers also with a solid advantage on the glass, out rebounding the
Knicks by sixteen. They were plus five on the offensive glass. The Sixers fifty two points in the paint for the game. That was an area where they certainly had control. Individual notes. Joel and b twenty four points, ten rebounds, his NBA leading twenty seventh double double of the season. Did not
take a three pointer. He was one for six from outside the arc versus the Spurs on Monday ten of seventeen was in bad overall, twenty points for Jimmy Butler, six and nine from the field, eight of ten from the free throw line. He also had four rebounds, four assists in three steals. Ben Simmons troubled double number four. The only player with more now in the NBA's Russell Westbrook with seven sivens, thirteen points, eleven boards, and ten
assists only three turnovers. Seventeen a new career high for Landry Shammitt. He was great. I mean, if you blur your eyes and just look out there, and the actions that he runs on the court, so much of it is similar to the guy who's mentoring him, and that's Jj Reddick, whether it's the quick pull ups for long twos inside the arc, the three pointers. Obviously, Shammon a
really good game. He was plus twelve with seventeen point six and ten overall, four of seven from three, and he had a couple of nice plays on Kevin Knox, who went number nine in the draft this year. Landry was the number twenty six pick, locked him, took him inside. Some good stuff from Landry Shammon in tonight's game. With the victory, the Sixers are now twenty one and twelve on the season, while the next drop to nine and
twenty four. Next for the seventy Sixers. As we were talking about the end of a lengthy stretch at home, it'll come Saturday, seven thirty against the Toronto Raptors, the team leading the Eastern Conference. As if earlier today, as we discussed with Tom mcguinnis, they had a game with the Indiana Pacers, and right now it looks like this one just went final. The Raptors at home survived ninety nine ninety six, So the Raptors will be twenty four
and nine coming in on Saturday. The Sixers try to get him back for two losses in Toronto, first meeting of the season between the teams here at the Center, and then it's off on that five game road trip, starting with the Christmas Day match up versus the Boston Celtics. Knox and Simmons shake Milton and Dotson, and we're gonna be joining courtside by Ben Simmons taking the headset sitting on the table. Ben, congratulations, great game by you, triple double, lopsided victory for your team. Nice win over
in New York. Your thoughts in general, I think we play well together. I think we got through our sets. Defensives whe we play well. They overall, everybody had a pretty song game. Your defense, particularly in the second half. They scored sixty one point shot fifty two, but it was wholly different in the third. Your defense really picked it up. Did you guys have a feel for that in the second half, That's where it starts for his defense. You know, our mindset is defense first, UM and offense
you know usually comes. We we have such talented guys in the team where you know, we don't really need to focus on offense too much. UM. We have guys who can, you know, put the ball in the ram. But defensive leaves were I started. You were really going at Noel Van late tonight. It was a good battle down there. Yeah, I was pissed off, thank you bank you reds Ben Simmons a slam dne because he gets the microphone up and off the hedset and so yeah, he was a little ticked off against Noah von Ley.
It is Hardy family show. We'll be back right after this with postgame coverage one thirty one, one on nine the Sixers defeat the Knicks. This is the Sixers Radio network.
