This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. He's the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame show. Let it be swats about the glass seventh damn he rosen down over to JJ three ball. It's good running crops the Sixers postgame show right now. On ninety seven five, the fanatic Joel

Embiid was back. He was big for the seventy Sixers with twenty four points, eight rebounds and a plus thirty rating in the Sixers one sixteen one or two victory over the Detroit Pistons. The bench was exceptional, as well as Brian Selzer saying went up from the center, we're gonna join in progress. Brett Brown, who was just finished saying he's not aware of how long Jimmy Butler might be out with a groin strain, which he was diagnosed

with after the first quarter. So here's Brett move. That was a mentality, and I thought his second step that one more, I am going to get to the rim type of mentality served him well at the beginning. He had that mentality, that extra aggressive mentality to start in the game. I don't know, I especially Jamie and the officive production about it. I mean it was huge. You look at the points that that bench gave us. I think they had eleven threes, you know, and Furkon came

in and he was bell ringer tonight. I thought Landry Shammont, you know, came up with some aggressive plays, especially at the end when it was sort of hanging around. He had a big offensive rebounds off Ben's miss free throw. But our bench was big tonight. This year, he doesn't he's not intimidated by NBA basketball. He's not intimidated by

the moment. And you know, if you guys want to, I don't know how much you paid attention to Turkey in the qualification series, but and I've said this a lot, you know, he was one of the better guards in that tournament. And I think that he's got to bounce. He's got he's got a a inner belief. There is a swagger that he has where he's gonna make a play. He may miss a lot of shots, he may make a lot of shots, but there really isn't sort of

a trepidation. There's not a backdown in Furcon. And you know, I thought I thought he just played the game well, and he played it with a lot of confidence. What did you make of Joel's night? You mean the percentage wise he was six or sixteen, but he was still plus thirty, which is which is an extraordinary What did you make of his night? I mean, you can see

what I see how important he is to us. You know, especially when when Jimmy goes out, you know, you look at you look at the team, and Jimmy goes out and Joel is still out, you know, you're probably in a fistfight. And uh, I think that that Joel Um, just his presence and you know, some of the plays he made late this spirit, I thought it was exceptional tonight. I agree, Duck, Yeah, you know, and it's it's Um. And he was sick. We hadn't seen him for a while,

and you know, he came in. I wasn't relieving, Sure he's gonna play, and to his credit, he did. And I think that when it's when the game started out playing, I wasn't surprised that you're trying to feel out how how active he is, how energized is he? You know what told did the sickness actually take? And I thought as the game unfolded, he did. He kept getting better and better and better and started playing, you know, with more of a bounce, more of a sort of tenaciousness

as the game unfolded. Sickness different from the migraine. Um, I think there was a little bit of flu type symptoms. Um. Hell, he will they will be able to tell you more. But he he. Um. Like I say, he came in today and I was not aware he was going to

play until late. That was seventy six Ers head coach Brett Brown speaking about the status of Joel embiad after the Sixers one sixteen one oh two win over the Detroit Pistons to move to nineteen and nine on the season and win the four game season series three games to one. Joel embiats so, as it turns out, not feeling all that great earlier today, He missed practice yesterday with a migraine. Twenty four points for the big Man, ten points in a big third quarter that helped the

Sixers maintain control. Joel plus thirty in the game. Such a telling statistic, you know, sometimes plus minus I feel like usually it's a telling, revealing statistic. But tonight that was very much accurate of the effect and influence that Embiad's presence had on the game. You know, he came off the court late in the first half and Detroit went on a twelve to three running get right back

into the game and claw within three. When Embiben is out, there is just mere presence of being there opened so much else up big for the Sixers tonight. Eighteen points for fir Con Corkmas that, a career high fourteen for TJ McConnell, ten for Landry Shamon and Mike mscalle the bench with fifty four p points in the win tonight. We can't forget about Ben Simmons either, eighteen points, ten rebounds,

seven assists plus twenty one. He was tremendous setting the tone in tonight's game, scoring eleven of his eighteen points in the first quarter. He was perfect from the field during that stretch, starting the game five for five. We've got Tom McGinnis always perfect standing by on the other side. We'll hear from him next. Seventy six Ers over the Pistons one sixteen, one oh two. Just getting started with our postgame show here on the Sixers Ready now, Sixers

Brian Seltza with you at the center, I believe we've got Joe l Embiid and the career

high man Furkon cork Wise at the day. So let's listen in I's kind of tie, you know, uh, the other that was frustrated with then resting me um. And usually because I know myself all right, I usually getting out of ship so fast it doesn't matter if I missed a day or two, so I was kind of tied, but with a game. As the game kept going, I got better. I saw the feeling comfortaball on the court, and you know, with the help of my teammate, especially to him, we got to win. Firk, this is one

of your best games as a pro. How do you feel out there and what's working for you right now? I mean, of course, feeling is really good, you know, and also important. Sometimes we are playing good, really good, but team most you know, I feel like I play good and then we won, We won the game. Uh. Things are changing really quickly here, you know, after the trade, I started to find more opportunities here. So I'm talking to coaching stuff also some of the players our team.

You know how I can be ready every time? Uh, and I was ready today, you know, like every time I just go out there and I play. You feel like everybody was talking about my defense. Everybody was saying like that's my witnesses. Last year, yeah, it was like that, But this year, I don't really think so, because I

cheap improved myself, especially on defense too. Uh this minute, it's coming from defense, you know, not just my And that's how I feel, all right, that's seventy Sixers backup swing man fur Con cork mos He flushed four three pointers, a career high tonight in routes to eighteen and points. He also had seven rebounds in this one. Tom mcginnison, why don't we start there, Yeah, Ben Simmons, Joel Ebid.

They were big in this one for the seventy Sixers, but throughout the night the Sixers needed a punch from the reserve corn. They got it. They really did. When you consider Shammon and Moscala and TJ and you already mentioned fur Con, and that was big, and that was actually a question posed prior to the game, and oftentimes you're you're hoping for one player to step up, but to have four guys come in and do a great job like that and add to the points that I thought,

that was wonderful. And that's for fur Con. He's had some really good games and that's one of his best games of his career. Seventy Sixers knock off the Detroit Pistons won sixteen to one h two. Let's go now to Joel Embid, who, as it turns out, based on

what we were interpreting from the postgame press conferences. Sounds like Joe wasn't feeling all that well earlier today, and he had a migraine yesterday, and it sounded like Brett wasn't totally certain that Embiad would be available until maybe a few hours before game time. But as this one went along tonight time, it seemed like he got better and sharper. In that third quarter, he had ten of his twenty four points, no doubt about it, and he

got some deep post ups against Drummond. And you know, one of the strengths of Embiad's game is being able to get to the line and then make foul shots, and he went eleven of fourteen from the line. The Sixers, I mean the two big areas where they had, you know, the advantage was three point shooting. I believe they made eight more threes something like that than Detroit and foul shots, which was a double digit disparity in the Sixers favor from the nine and Ebiad hit in early three and

he played well. He did here, no question about it. I think he was kind of working his way into the game. Like you said, we were unawares that he was slightly under the weather. But sometimes as the game goes along, you get a second win, and you know you're able to push on. And he felt, by his own admission, felt better as the game went along. And tell you what, like he has at times dominated Drummond over the last couple of years in this series, not tonight,

I thought Drummond was really good as well. And Drummond got that late technical and you know, he wondered why while he rifled the ball through the ball briskly out toward the official when the official was toward the scores table, you know, making the call, and he wondered why he got a tea. Well that's why right there. So but I thought Detroit, you know, they showed a lot of spirit, totally undermanned even as the game was going on. They

were losing personnel. Luke Kannard can shoot the ball, and kudos to him because you know he was trying to impress their team during the offseason. You get a new coach, new coaching staff, and then he went down with a knee injury, and that was right around when the team was getting together to go to summer league. And then the season starts. He's a rugged player. Bang he ends up with a shoulder injury, missed sixteen games. He was needed tonight, stepped up big for them, had a career

high shot the ball well, and they hung around. But to the six Ers credit, they were able to take care of business and come on fourteen out of fifteen wins here at home. Now they won nine out of eleven. Hopefully with Jimmy that won't be too long of a thing. But you got Brooklyn again and then a big game on Friday with Indiana. Tom, if you'd like, I can relieve you of your duties right now and we can listen in to Ben Simmons. Go right ahead, buddy, Thanks,

all right, let's do it. One sixteen, one h two seventy six Ers beat the Pistons. I believe we have Ben Simmons right now protecting the ram and guys really feeding of everybody's energy, which really kept us in the game. You're having to get into the playing as ever the first quarter of what was working at there and allowing you to have such a good stuff. I just don't think they're ready for me physically physically. When did you

notice that? Did you notice that from the opening tip for one of the first plays, I'd say most most every game. We've played them every game I've really been in front of the pistons. I felt like there are certain matchups that I could take over, get to the room, into my thing. They were forced to adjust it all to day today what they do. I think they didn't really adjust too much. I think we just started to play more of the team style of play down the

down the stretch in the third and fourth quarter. All right, that's seventy six ers reigning Rookie of the Year Ben Simmons. Tom not always a man of many words, but do you know what he does not have to be? Why were you able to have so much success in the beginning? They weren't ready for me and it did not look like it. Ben Simmons got off to a great start at the seventy six Ers. See this one through to

one sixteen one h two win. Our minor divine givens on the flagship of the seventy six Ers ninety seventy five to the Fanatic is coming up after our next and final segment within the post. We'll get to that final segment in just a few minutes with someone Tom's calls from tonight's game. Sixers win number nineteen on the year beating the Pistons by fourteen. final matchup of the season between these two teams. Here is how it went. Sixers played at the Pistons on Friday in Lowtown name nice come from behind victory, and tonight Ben Simmons got the Sixers off to a terrific Energohn starting here, Simmons attacking on John lorhandy Jamon, Ben Simmons right down Broad Street, within authority and a left hand slam. He's got seven of the Sixers thirteen. He's

not messing around. As Ben said, if you heard him, they just didn't seem to be interested in stopping him and they could not. Simmons a perfect five for five from the field to open up tonight's game. Sixers let it after one thirty eight two twenty nine. Early on in the second Joelmbad started attacking the block and that

meant good things with the Sixers. Joelman beat handles at the three point arc on the near side back to jk Rennick, be to b to beat, gets a slam I set up by JJ Rudnick and it long gate given go and Runnick finds the big man rolling to the basket for a two hand slam. Yeah. Mead was held out of Friday's game at the Pistons due to rest. Took him a little bit to get his legs back under him, but when he found him, he was able

to have a quality impact. Sixers let it fifty six to forty seven after a total twenty four minutes of play. On the third quarter, we go to Pistons. Yeah, they started to fight and chip into the Sixers lead, and the Sixers they needed some cushion and some insurance, and to Bed was there providing him. I'll top and beat driving on drum and tried to draw the foul scoop, sit off the glass and attack, but no foul. Drummond

got his shoulders. Turn at Joel would be with a younger hand, scoop of the left side of the basket. He shot it with his right hand. He's got a dozen Sixers lead by ten. They made it sixty three to fifty three. Now the Pistons with Claude back within single digits. The Sixers. They got that nice boost from the bench we were talking about. Here's cork moss off a baseline in bound with a two half slab, a

slash into the length of a left perimeter. Cork mos catches right in front of the room and dumps it. A nice set up on that play from t J. McConnell helped the seventy Sixers to an eighty seven seventy six lead heading in to the fourth quarter. The Sixers got a bucket from t. J. McConnell quickly to push the lead back take ten. Pistons still hanging around and the Sixers will They turned once again to a rookie, now this time off the bench, to help keep things

in their control. And here's Ben against Canard with his back to the basket at the fallow cutting his Landry Shammont bisses the left and right reverse its batted back. Shammon gets it again, hangs out the chailer open three left perimeters in the air head God will sit down, puts it and the Sixers go up by twelve. Awesome sticktuitiveness by Landry Shammon on that play, and then his mentor JJ Reddick helped putting the end of things in

the final minutes. Then Simmons fancy dribbling go to the corner. JK Reddick three ball got it fall game Reddick from a deep corner knocking down the three, and that would give the Sixers a one thirteen ninety two advantage on the way to a fourteen point win tonight one sixteen one oh two. Final notes. In the final stat sheet, six Or shot forty four and a half percent from the field, the Pistons were just under forty nine percent. Sixers big advantage in the three point make category with

fifteen of them Detroit with just nine. The Sixers also outscored the Pistons twenty three to eleven in terms of free throws made Detroit eleven of twenty one from the stripe, the seventy six Ers twenty three of thirty five the Sixers plus six on the offensive glass. That meant a twenty seven to eleven advantage on second chance points only fourteen turnovers for the Sixers fifteen for the Pistons. Top

scoring total in tonight's game win to Luke Canard. Out of Duke from the Pistons, he had a career high twenty eight, but the seventy Sixers got twenty four from Joel and beat in his return eleven to fourteen from the line for the big man, eight rebounds from as well, three assists, two steals, two block shots and a whopping plus thirty rating, telling of his impact in tonight's game, eighteen points for Ben Simmons. He was plus twenty one to go with ten rebounds and seven assists. That's the

nineteenth double double on this season for Ben. Eighteen points for fir Con Corkmas a new career high, also a career high his four three pointers, fourteen for t J McConnell, ten apiece for Andrey Shammon and Mike Muscala. Jimmy Butler played nine minutes. He was diagnosed with a groin strain after the first quarter. He did not return and his status is expected to be updated in the days ahead.

Seventy Sixers with the winner now nineteen to nine on the season that Detroit Pistons followed a thirteen and twelve. Sixers importantly win that season series three games to one, and up next for the seventy Sixers will be the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday. That is a seven o'clock game. The Nets and Sexers have played twice in Brooklyn so far this season. They've split those two games. Brooklyn is

ten and eighteen on the season. They had lost eight in a row before winning the last two games, sweeping a weekend back to back against Toronto impressive win and on the road across the Harlem River against the New York Knicks. So the Nets have won their last two games. Big thanks to everyone in bomb to Night's broadcast. That would be Brian McLaughlan and Tyler Zulie back at the studio Marti Dickerson here Coming up next, it's Devon Gibbons in the post on ninety seven five. The Fanatic, the

The final score it was the seventy Sixers one sixteen and the Detroit Pistons one o two. Have a great rest of your Monday night from all of us here at the Sixers Raider Network. Following the Sixers win, Tom McGinnis had a chance to catch up with one of the players afterwards.

Fourteen seconds ago and Detroit will bring it across. Pistons will have lost their fifth game in a row, their second five game losing streak, and this on the heels of what had been five consecutive wins. Kennard making another field goal five seconds to go. Sixers are gonna win

this game by fourteen. Final tonight in the Center in South Philadelphia, one sixteen, one h two is Dwayne Casey had Brett Brown exchange a wave and the players get one another out at center court and the Sixers run their record in nineteen and nine a season best ten games over five hundred and now they've won nine of their last eleven games. Overall, They're fourteen and one here at home as a record at the center, which is better on their home court than any other team in

the NBA. For Detroit, they mentioned the five consecutive losses. The Pistons are now thirteen and twelve and four and six on the road. So again the final here tonight one sixteen one O two. Man, we were going to be joining courtside, I believe by t J McConnell. TJ, thanks for joining us. Congratulations boy, you led a reserve group that played really well and was instrumental in this win tonight over Detroit. Your thoughts on that and more? TJ?

Can you hear me? Oh yeah, go ahead, Sorry, that's okay. I was just saying you led a reserve group that really played well and helped your team to the win. Yeah. Um, except for the end there, you know that was on me. Um, we got to be better down the stretch at the end, no matter the score. But um, you know that eventually came in did a great job and the starters were amazing too. So it was it just a good team win tonight. And they they didn't go away. I mean

they kept battling. They got to within three a couple of times, and you guys and to me. That's the sign of a team that's maturing where you're able to sustain their their little run and then pull back away to get the win. Right. Um, yeah, like you said, it's it's a sign of a mature team. And we got to keep doing that to be uh, to be great and to make a run in the playoffs. So, um, we got to stay connected on the defensive end and uh,

you know, keep executing and keep guarding. You guys need more offense from the bench, and tonight yourself, Corkmis with a career best Mike and Landry was all something hopefully signs of the future in that regard. Yeah. Absolutely, Like I said, it was a it was a it was a team win, you know on all aspects. Um, Shake came in and um, you know, didn't force anything and have got that great assist and um, it was just a good team win. Like I said, all right, thank you, TJ.

Appreciate it. You've been listening to seventy sixers rewind. Be sure not to miss new episodes the day after each game this season all year long.
