This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game, Ario Sharich, how about that, you guys had a huge lead, you lost it, but in bead was just incredible throughout the waning moments and over time your thoughts in general. Uh yeah, I don't know what'll happened with us, you know during the during the death payre of many who lost the lead.
But I think you know that the team show unbelievable carrct at Indian, especially Joel Uh he scores some pretros in a krusha moment one three. They got a good, very good game, excellent game, and he was the guy who would lead us tonight. Team have been together, Yes, absolutely, Dare you had another good game shooting the basketball. You helped the Sixers had that big twenty plus point lead. You're feeling better and it's it shows with that three
point shot. Huh yeah, I feel better. I've been working on my on my shots all the time, even during the summer, I was working. But you know, sometimes that happen. You know, I cannot, I cannot listen. You know what people told can one of the people who are not the play basketball talking about me. You know, I'll just get work and I know my work will show up on the quote court one day. The court here that the home court advantage has been terrific. This crowd actually
helps you guys over the hump at times, does it not. Ah, yeah, of course when you've got to this kind of fans behind you, who is who they are to like uh, every home game they support us almost like a full pool arena all the time. You know, of course, this easier to play and they are amazing. I'm cool. They will continue to coming on our games. Dario, Thank you, congratulations, We appreciate it. Okay, thank you, Dario. Shark and the Sixers Sixers by a single point in overtime one thirty three,
one thirty two. Wow, what a game. We'll be right back after this. Brian Selzer will join us with postgame coverage. We'll hear from Brett Brown outside of the Sixers locker room, as the Sixers are now seven and oh at home here at the center of the year. They're now eight and five overall. Charlotte little loss at even five hundred that snapped a mini two game winning streak for them.
They're two and four on the road and through a dozen games, six and six back with more Sixers by a point in ot This is the Sixers Radio Network, the Sixers Station ninety seven five, the Fanatic. The Sixers pull it off in overtime one thirty three two, one thirty two. Unbelievable ball game, and Bead was just absolutely stupendous. He made eleven field goals, nineteen free throws. He had
eighteen rebounds, four blocks, four assists, forty two points. And he is our Independence Blue Cross player the game Independence Blue Cross, Live Fearless and get their power of Independence at IBX dot com. So there was a sequence late in overtime where the Sixers call time out with seven seconds having elapsed on the clock, in other words, before they got it into mid court, and I was saying, they have to get it in. Well, what happens when
you call back the back timeouts. That second time out is the one that allows you to advance the ball into the front court. So that's what happened. That's why the Sixers will able to inbound the ball. I spent the better part of a break going over that scenario, and it turned out with that second time out. Then that allows you to advance it into the front court, and that negated that potential dilemma or difficult situation for
the Sixers. But they pull it off. Kemba Walker. Just to watch him after the game, a bent down, leaning over and an elegant take three. I can only imagine everything that was going through him in terms of frustration, like he pushed himself to the limit, and again you leave the game with a mid back sprain or a back issue. To come out and continue to play and have the fourth quarter that he did, I mean, he scored I believe nineteen points in the fourth quarter. He
was incredible. He's without question, one of the most entertaining and best players in the NBA. Kemba Walker of the Charlotte Hornets brought them right to the precipice of the victory. But Joellen beat and Ben Simmons and the Sixers turn them away. And now the Sixers are three games over, five hundred and eight and five seven and oh here at home, and oh, by the way, the Sixers are going on the road. They are headed down to the Mississippi to Memphis, Tennessee in the mid South, and they'll
take on the Grizzlies tomorrow night at eight o'clock. So when be with a forty two point game. Walker finished with thirty points, nine assist, seven rebounds. Ben Simmons had twenty two point, thirteen assists and eight rebounds. He had a huge drive down the stretch, three blocks and two steals for Ben as well. Sixers win the game by a single point. Full postgame coverage coming up from Brian Seltzer. First that we pause and we'll be back after this.
You're home for the Sixers. Ninety seven five star players step up for their teams when they game is on the line. At the risk of overstating the obvious, but get this. Walker had twenty two of his points in the fourth quarter and overtime. Kemba Walker who struggled early in the game. He ended up with thirty total and twenty two of them came in the fourth quarter in overtime.
It bad went twenty points in fourth quarter overtime at one point in the fourth at eleven in the row and b with a career high nineteen made free throws a little bit past the top of the hour. But we're still gonna pause for ten seconds for station identification. Only place to hear Mike Missinelli every weekday from to Listen seventy seven five the fanatic kem upe N Burlington, Philadelphia,

It was military appreciation Tonight at Night presented by Toyota and a sellout crowd twenty thousand, four hundred and twenty four on hand, and they really helped the Sixers down the stretch. Seven and oh now at home for the Sixers in bead with an incredible night in many areas including forty two points, eighteen rebounds, four assists,
four blocks. Simmons twenty two points, thirteen assists, eight rebounds. JJ Reddick was seventeen, which is writ in line with what he averages coming to the had seven points, four blocks, three rebounds. He had five fouls and was able to play down the stretch. He had two key plays where Charlotte appeared to have a layup. It was in the half court, but it was still like a breakaway layup, and he was able to knock the ball once off Walker and once off Malik Monk, and he did that
with five fouls and that led the turnovers. But the turnover difference in the game, the Sixers had ten more turnovers, and this was from the onset where this was a glaring differential. And in the end, the points off turnovers favored Charlotte. They scored thirty one points off the six or seven turnovers and the Sixers had seven points. So think of that, thirty one points off the Sixers turn overs,
but the Sixers got fifty points in the paint. They made a dozen threes, did a turnmentous job in fast break points going on eleven of twelve. And speaking of great job, Jerry Monzo did a great job with our stats tonight Marty Dickerson, our engineer, Tyler's Julian Sam Fletcher back at the station, Brian Selzer will have postgame coverage. An exciting overtime victory for the Sixers. They beat in Charlotte now twice but by a total of three points,
and both games have been here at the Center. The Sixers will be in Charlotte on November seventeenth, and their next home game is next Friday. They take on Rudy Gobert and the Utah Jazz. It'll be a Spirit of seventy six Night presented by StubHub. Find out more as the Sixers take on Utah here November sixteenth. That's one week from tonight, but it's on the road. They'll take on Memphis tomorrow. Will be on the air at FedEx Forum on Beal Street at eight Monday Miami seven thirty,
and Wednesday the Sixers in Orlando at seven. For now, Tom McGinnis here at the Center where the Sixers win by a point one thirty three, one thirty two. Rett Brown outside the locker room in a moment. Brian Seltzer's next. This is the Sixers Radio Network. He's the Philadelphia has seventy Sixers postgame show. Beat Swatson on the glass seven damn he rows it down over to JJ three ball. It's good running Crops. The Sixers postgame Show right now
on ninety seven five The Fanatic. The seventy Sixers survive in overtime one thirty three, one thirty two over the Charlotte Hornets, second straight win, fourth and the last five. Joel Ebad forty two points eighteen rebounds, outlasting Kemba Walker in his thirty my name is Brian Seltral. It's here now in progress from Brett Brown three point shot, you know, and Kemba does that. Kemba really does that. We started
blitzing him at the end of regulation. But you know, in general, I think that when you look at like the the the what was it a thirty five point third period? You know, I think they had six or seven threes in that period. And when we spoke at the start of the game, you know, we all came in and said, what is It's the three point line and some offensive rebounding thing in Kemba. Um, they they put points up, they're hard to guard, and he's really hard to guard, not really, d not really, you know.
I I brought him back probably, I mean it would sound like really, but it's true, probably forty five seconds a minute, maybe a minute earlier than I would normally in that fourth period. And then you know, you get into overtime and you do what what what what we do? Um? But no, I wished I didn't have to play him that many minutes five minutes of time. But we're see. I mean, I did feel like there were some times we could have put the put the game away, put
the game away. I thought, in general, you know, we uh, I mean, I'd like to say we guarded better than the stat lines are showing. I think that we rebounded quite well. You know. I think that that we we found a way to win. And that's sort of the simplest way you can say it. I think we were you know, they were up five with a minute seventeen, and you know, to the guy's credit, we we we executed some stuff on side out of bounds. You know, we went ran a quick play that Joel, the three
point shot that Joel made. You know, it's a little bit broken up, but the guys did well. I give them credit. But in general, to be in that position after holding a twenty one point lead, you know, you you leave here, you know, happy for sure for the win, but not like this is great. We're right on track. We're doing some good things, but we uh, we got a long ways to go. Stuff. Um maybe you know my answers normally is let's try to hoist Joel. You know,
let's put JJ in, Ben in some stuff. Let's bring you know, JJ off Pinned down. Scoring is not the problem, you know, I'm happy with one hundred and thirty three points. Um, you know, and I feel like some of the the the shots that we missed, you know, you'd like to have back. But maybe like I didn't feel that. I felt the pain of defense. I felt the pain of kemba. I felt the three point pain way more than than
I did. We were struggling to score. Um, I felt like we missed shots, but I felt like a lot of them were good looks. Seventy six Ers head coach Brett Brown after tonight's one thirty three, one thirty two victory of the Charlotte Hornets. Seventy six Ers now eight and five on the season, Charlotte six and six. This one went to overtime. I had to pause for a second trying I think of the right adjectives use to
describe this game. Grind it out for certain, resilient in some ways, yes, survival mode for sure, as you heard in those comments from Brett Brown, or maybe you just jumped in the car and are tuning in at this very moment. Six was led by twenty one points in the third quarter, and all of a sudden, with thunder a minute and a half to go in the fourth quarter, they were down one seventeen to one twelve. But of all the great gifts that Joel Embid gives, there are
a plentiful mendy. He gets the foul line and is just get to the foul line. He makes his shots, and he doesn't just make his shots, he makes them at an exceptionally efficient rate. Tonight he was nineteen to twenty two from the free throw line in a game that featured a bunch of twists and turns. I don't want to simplify things too much, but to a largely that won the six of the game. Forty two points
eighteen rebounds were joelt totally dependable and bankable. Between the fourth and overtime periods, Joellen Beads, scoring twenty one of his forty two points during that stretch. He was also a fourteen of sixteen from the line during that period of the game. Just amazing from the big man. He was a third leading scorer coming to tonight. Kemba Walker was the second in the league. Walker went for thirty
twenty two of those after the third quarter. So you have two all stars going back and forth, and the seventy sixers, as Brett said, they rebounded the ball better. They were plus seven on the glass, their defense locked in when it had to. Turnovers still an issue in tonight's game, but the Sixers remain undefeated at home. They win their second straight, fourth out of the last five. Still unbeaten at the Center, and you know what, it's going to be a tough back Tobacco into Memphis for
a game tomorrow night. For certain, not an easy place to play in Memphis. Looking better this year than it was last year, but an opportunity for the Sixers to jump into things and get more momentum as we close out the first month in the season. Tom McGinnis put in a long night that he's standing by well here from next postgame showing the Sixers Rated network the Sixers Station ninety seven five. Adventuresome, to say the least, herculean effort by the big Man. We joined
Tom McGinnis who called this one tonight. The highlights of course Tom forty two and eighteen from Joel Bead four blocks as well Ben Simmons twenty two points, thirteen assists, eight rebounds. Why don't we start with the way those two, in particular began things in the third quarter. It was like assault after assault on the rim, really impressive dunks, and the Sixers were up by twenty one points at
one point in that period. It felt like they could do no wrong and Beid went out and the game turned. No doubt about it. I mean, it's it's like a blessed scene and a curse, and that is the Sixers are able to build up these substantial leads, which they did on multiple occasions. Last year, and yet there are times when they're unable to hold the leads. And again
the NBA game, it's a long time. Charlotte came in, they had six threes in the third quarter, and their reserve unit with Monk and Bacon and Bridges, those guys, kid Gilchris came in. Those guys gave them some energy and they were making shots. And then so that's your take. The third and you know, the Sixers, they got it
down to eleven. I think it was ninety six eighty five Sixers after three and then the fourth quarter the Sixers went over six and a half minutes without a field goal, and Bead had thirteen points in a row. And if he's not getting into the line and making the free throws, then this is what they'd gotten away from the Sixers. But there were so many fouls. Frankly, I thought there were too many files on both teams, and it was ridiculous. I mean, you can't get a
rebound after a free throw without a foul anymore. It was just and then the slightest little brush and another file. I mean in the crowd got a little upset by it and under it totally broke up the rhythm of the game, and you'd have to say it kind of. I thought maybe it benefited Charlotte just because the Sixers had been on a dominant role. But Joel was just I mean, this is why he gets paid in the big big Bucks, this is why he's an All Star.
He was a dominant player tonight and you watched two of the best players in basketball and Walker for them. Walker had like nineteen of his points in the fourth quarter and overtime he had thirty. He struggled throughout much of the game, and I think he was hindered with that back. Like I said, you don't leave the game, but a lower back sprain or a mid back sprain, however they referred to it and come back one hundred
percent without that bothering you. And yet he was able to purse some of his shots when he did get back in the game where he had that onunch his first shot literally what about thirty feet in the air and sailed over the basket. You're like, whoa. And then in Bead had a great block on Walkers shortly thereafter. But then Joel he had twenty of his twenty two.
I mean, he had forty two, but in the overtime in the fourth quarter, and Simmons to your point talking about the third he had a huge drive down the stretch and Ben made two free throws with the game of the line Dary who had another big night in terms of four to three point field goals. Covington struggled from the field, but he was able to stay in there and guard with five fouls. Brett Brown during the
postgame said they mixed it up a little bit. They blitzed Kemba Walker, which is to say they doubled him, showed him a different look at the ball of his hands, and the Sixes were able to get away with a one point overtime victory one thirty three, one thirty two the final score. I'm not sure how much you can talk about it on old sports radio, but Joel and Bead after tonight, if I've done my quicker arithmetic correctly, he is one hundred twelve for one hundred and thirty
seven from the free throw line. Set another way, he's only missed twenty five times going to the line that many times, almost one hundred and fifty times through thirteen games. His makes and his takes leave the NBA and yeah, he's at some variation of seven plus feet tall. It's really amazing. And you've said it before, to have your best player, now JJ's the best free throw should or be one of your best free throw shooters. Like I said, he preserved the victory, he got the sixers back in
at the nine. He made nineteen free throws, a career best. And you know he takes a beating, you know, like he gets some calls, but he's very good at drawing fouls. In terms of the way he drops that ball below his waist. We call it a rip through move, swinging the ball left the right, where he's holding the ball firmly and basically luring the defender to try to reach for it or at least when they had their arms outstretched on defense, you know, putting himself in a position
to draw the foul. But he was really good. And at the other end, we just it's hard to quantify because it's not just blocks. It's like I said, when a guy pulls up short, when a guy drives, gets by the initial defender, one of the opposing players, and then oh they got to look over their shoulder, wears and beat. It's always at the top of your mind, that is. That's one of the reasons the Sixers are
one of the best defensive teams. I mean, right there, they've got this incredible force down though rim protector has the blocks, but again forces a lot of missus and forces guys to do something that's out of their comfort zone. Maybe they pull up a little earlier than they would like to in terms of their shot forces, wrap around passes,
in traffic, I mean, recovers. He's just he's been a terrific player, and really, like I know, there's so many great players, and there's so many people having tremendous seasons thus far, early ten plus games in, but he's playing at an MVP level and the Sixers needed every single ounce of his energy here tonight, and he delivered big time. Forty two points, eighteen rebounds, four assists and four blocks shots. You mentioned this point in time, and you've been doing
it long enough where you know the rhythm. I mean, this is gonna be You would think it figures would be a massive challenge for the seventy six Ers, not just the fact that there's another game tomorrow and not just the fact that it's on the road. But you don't often see the length of distance in between back to back game Sixers in Memphis tomorrow night against the team playing really well. Well, they're undefeated at home. JB.
Bickerstaff has retained the job down there. They're slowing things down, you know. I don't know if it's what do they call the ground and grind and pound or the grindhouse or whatever. I don't know if it's back to those days, but you know they are. They're doing a lot better. They're they're a top their division. It's Conley and Gasol are still two of the best players in the NBA. And they got Jackson who had a tremendous game with four blocks in their most recent game. So yeah, no,
it's a difficult ball game. The only you know, one possible saving grace is at Central time, so you gain an hour, but no doubt, and this is it. I mean, there's another tough back to back coming up in December where the Sixers play a late afternoon game in Cleveland and then go to San Anton only will play a
six o'clock game. So when the schedule comes out in early August, you can you can circle a few games that are going to be difficult, but you know the Sixers will, they'll rest up, try to get some sleep on the plane and get after it. They're they're playing well, and like you said, they've won four or five. They remain perfect here at home. Great tests. Obviously Miami and Orlando won't be easy down there in Florida, but that's part of it. And then they come back and play
a great Utah team. You knew that we're going to have a difficult schedule coming in, you know, in terms of the opponents that's been the case. But when you're playing well, you want to continue to play in the sixth Look, the Sixers are still trying to establish a rhythm, so when you're winning, hopefully you can get a little momentum going. But no doubt, a difficult ball game. But one thing, you know, tremendous opportunity tonight, great game in
front of this crowd. The crowd, help the fans, help the team again, and they pulled it out. Tom Thank you very much. Talk to you tomorrow. Thank you, Brian. But you know what, so too does an overtime basketball game, and that is what the seventy six and the Hornets gave tonight. Sold out crowd, early going Hornets jump down to an eight nothing lead. Wilson Chandler in his third game back, helping lead a charge at the end of the first second year for the Hornets. He's showing some
signs I've been able to shoot that ball. Here's Chandler from Deed. He got his first basket Wednesday and that's his first three and the Sixers go up thirty to twenty seven. He was again on a fifteen minute and the limit was the new seventy six ers. Chandler, but I thought he played real well on both ends of the court, showing a lot of his verse satility and subtle things that helped Sixers and the Hornets tied up
at thirty three after a quarter of play. In the second, Ben Simmons helped open things up Walker with an air ball. I don't think he's one hundred percent Ben on the runout Bam, two hands slam, Ben Simmons. Simmons comes in from the landing fifty eight forty one seventy six ers. They were up by fifteen sixty five fifty at intermission, and that lead only grew early on in the third, Covington to a beat, Joel brings it across. He's got Simmons back to the beach. Into the mind. There's the
big guy roaming down and getting the slam. Joe Well and beat and Ben Simmons running rough shot on the Charlotte Hornets. Yeah, they were just crushing them, attacking the basket. Deet made it seventy five fifty seven time out Hornets sixers. Their lead would begin to dwindle. They were up by only eleven after being in front by as many as twenty one going into the fourth, ninety six to eighty five.
And wouldn't you know if kemba Walker catching fire whistles, slowing down the pace of the game, he'd be the Hornets that jumped in front one seventeen one twelve with about a minute and a half to go. Joel and Bead he can do a lot, and he certainly did that tonight. Ben with a download right against Michael kick Gill, Chris out top. Joel fakes and he thought about a three. Now he shoots at three, it's up a god. He ties in one hundred and seventeen Joel at b with
a three point shot over Walker. Editorial comment coming to your way right here. The free throws that in Bead made tonight were so important that we really wanted to play highlights of all them all nineteen, especially the late ones at the end of the fourth and into overtime, Butts who were overruled, We're gonna to play some really nice, juicy highlights instead and beat a couple of free throws tied it up with twenty six seconds to go. It
would go to overtime. Tied up at one nineteen and the Sixers We're going to get on the board with some high energy plays. Early on in Ot Simmons with a dribble up to Dario Shargant Joel Joel with a jam, then I hearn A Gomez no Max furnbead and Joel now thirty nine points, one twenty three, one twenty one. Ben Simmons with some timely baskets late a tie breaking bucket to make it one twenty five, one twenty three.
JJ Reddick with along two gave the Sixers a three point lead, and then Simmons, with an impressive finish, provided some more insurance. Nine to shoot and they spread the floor. Simmons with bridges guarding him. Ten. Simmons on a drive cut off four to shoot Dwala a right hand lamp good. Ben Simmons soars and scores that made one thirty one one twenty seven with about a minute and a half
to go and overtime. A couple more free throws from Joel Embiad would put this one in the win column for the seventy sixers by point to one thirty three one thirty two. Final stats. Sixers shot forty eight and a half percent from the field, thirty nine percent for
the Hornets Charlotte sixteen threes the Sixers twelve. Charlotte was thirty to forty from the free throw line seventy sixers a tad better thirty one to forty one Sixers plus nine on the glass, six or seventeen turnovers Charlotte just seven. Charlotte outscoring the Sixers thirty one to seven on points
off turnovers. That a key subplot in tonight's game that made an interesting individual notes forty two and eighteen for Joel Embid plus four assists and four block shots, a career high nineteen of twenty two from the free throw line, eleven of eighteen from the field. He had one three pointer. Amazing stuff for Embid, We should say, only three turnovers in thirty nine minutes of action. Ben Simmons excellent as well,
twenty two points, thirteen assists, eight rebounds. He was nine to fifteen from the field, four of six from the stripe, eighteen for Dario Charge and the good game, six to thirteen from the floor, four of eight from outside the arc. He had nine rebounds, seventeen for JJ Reddick off the bench and in the first half Wilson Chandler, Jonah Bolden, even Landry Shammont as well with some important reserve minutes
for the Sixers. But the Stars delivered this one for the Sixers, certainly Simmons, most definitely Embiid helping the Sixers withstand thirty points from Kemba Walker in tonight's game two hours fifty one minutes was the game time sellout crowd of twenty thousand, four hundred twenty four great turnout seventy sixers eight o'clock game to ourrow night against the six and four Memphis Grizzlies at FedEx Form.
