This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. Please he's the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame show. Swatson sent sevens plu damn he rozen down over to JJ three bought its good running crops The Sixers postgame show right now.

On ninety seven five, the fanatic seventy Sixers drop a tough decision at home at the Center to the Cleveland Cavaliers one twenty one one twelve, first loss for the Sixers in this building since March thirteenth of this past spring. Cleveland came out firing away, in particular, their rookie Colin Sexon got them started and really for the rest of the night, Cleveland did not back down, didn't go away.

The Sixers twice held five point leads in tonight's third quarter, but there was just a massive tough to overcome and ended up being unable to be overcome, run mounted by Cleveland twenty two to seven down the stres the fourth quarter that put this one out of the Sixers reach. They lose by nine and see there not only twenty game winning streak in the regular season. Here at home come to an end, but their season long four game

winning streak called it as well. Sixers now thirteen and eight, the Cleveland Cavaliers three and fourteen rebounding that the storyline in this game. Sixers came into tonight third in the league and rebounds per game, but early on you could tell Cleveland, behind Tristan Thompson, it was down to go right at it with the Sixers toe to toe on the backboards. Cleveland plus eleven on the glass, and they were plus ten and offensive rebounds and subsequently a fifteen

to four advantage for the Cavaliers. All said and done in second chance points, they took a total of eighteen more shots in the seventy sixers, And you know the way this sport works, that's to a certain degree, mat makes some pretty big difference, especially when there's that significant disparity, especially with Cleveland shooting at justin or fifty three percent

for the game. Yeah, you put up eighteen more shots, that's gonna end up making a difference in the final outcome, and certainly was the case in tonight's game, one twenty one to one, twelve Cleveland wins at the seventy Sixers had four different twenty points scores twenty four and twelve for Joel mb twenty three for JJ Reddick, Jimmy Butler, and Ben Simmons with twenty two a peace Landry Shammon

with ten off the bench. Cleveland was led by Rodney Hood twenty five points, twenty three for Colin Sexon twenty first SETI Osman, but really the guy who I thought had a huge, huge role in this game was Jordan Clarkson. Didn't do much in the first half, did a little bit in the third, but in the fourth he scored fourteen of his nineteen points, a major reason why Cleveland takes this one from the Sixers. This evening, Tom McGinnis

is standing by. He called this one tonight. I mean you could tell early on, Tom Cleveland was game for this one. They were ready, no doubt about it. You got to give him credit, and they were. They were very good. They spread the Sixers out, as I said earlier, they were able to take them off the dribble. They had shotmakers tonight, and that rebound This is the Sixers,

you know, not used to get an out rebounding. But part of that's hustle place and especially offensive rebounding as the seventy six ers allowed fourteen offensive rebounds for Cleveland. And again, you know, like Brett Brown said, you got to tip your hat. They made some very difficult shots. But you know, one of our things prior to the game was, you know, you can't play to the record of the opponent, or sometimes during the games, they can't play to the score. You got to play to get better.

But human nature being what it is, sometimes it's difficult to get up. And that's no excuse. But Cleveland came out here with one of those, you know, another trite cliche, nothing to lose, and they played this is obviously their best game of the year, their first road victory, and they got a lot of a lot of solid performances. I used outlined. I was really impressed with both Sexton.

We've seen riding Hood before, We've seen Clarkson before. They both played in the Western Conference with the Jazz and the Lakers. But these two young players Yetie Austin, he's got to be really good and then Sexton. You know, that's the thing when you're in a rebuild, you know what you're doing is you're giving your young players a huge opportunity to get valuable minutes, get experience, get confidence, and those two guys had that in the biggest way possible.

Here tonight Sixers lose at home to the Cavaliers one twenty one, one twelve, And I didn't even mentioned Tristan Thompson. I kind of but I didn't even run through his numbers. He was plus nineteen. That might be one of the more telling stats of tonight's game. Eighteen points, thirteen rebounds

and Joel and Be thirteen shots in this game. And Tristan was a veteran body who could make life a little bit more difficult than he usually is for joy right, well, you remember what is it now three seasons ago when he held out a little bit and Lebron was one of his biggest backers in terms that we need to sign this guy. And he's a good player. You know, he's not a classic center in that you know, he

doesn't do you know, his shooting's not that great. And meanwhile, I hit a couple fallne jumpers, hit his free throws down the stretch. But he's a I want to say, he's more than you know. You hear the phrase like he's a glue type player in other words, he's a guy that just fits into a winning ball club. He's really more than that. He can add in a lot

of different ways. And when you're setting up second chance opportunities, it might not even be you in terms of getting the rebound in the putback, but you're kicking the ball out now. Granted it's shorter this year with the fourteen on the reset clock, but no, he played really well. And to your point about Joe, they doubled Joe in terms of embad and he had a couple of early

turnovers and he wasn't as effective. I mean, he still had a good all around game, good numbers, but not dominant like he was in the game against the Pelicans or the three straight thirty and ten games that he had in the recent past. And really an anatomy of an upset for Cleveland and how they played against the Sixers. Here tonight, seventy six Ers fall one, twenty one, one

twelve to the Cleveland Cavaliers. And you know it's funny, obviously in this sport, you know this how humbling it can be at times, Just when it seemed like the Sixers had really turned a corner or on the cusp of it winning four in a row. You know, Jimmy Butler has been in for about ten days. It's all coming together. You get a game like this and it brings you back down to earth a bit and now you go to Brooklyn. No carousel vert. He was big in that first game, come back home for three more.

But just a reminder that still in this you know, we're amazingly already at the quarter point of the season, but it's just a reminder that there's still some room to go for this team. They still have some work to be done, no doubt, no doubt. The question was posed to Brett Brown pre game. Sometimes he'll use the phrase, you know NBA royalty and you know the the question was like how do you define that, and like what

do you mean? And he goes, I know it's a little vague, but what and Brett Brown says, no, I have no problem to find in it. And he was talking like, by way of example, with Toronto, I mean, first of all, you look at their record and secondly, they produce every night. And what he meant more than anything was that, you know, the coaches use a phrase like make them feel you well, and that was big.

Lloyd Pierce Now with the Atlanta Hawks, he used to say that a lot, and that means defensively, get into people. Make make sure it's hard for them to get into their offense, it's hard for them to produce and the execute an offense and to bring that make you. Brett Brown was using the phrase sting make them, you know, sting them in other words, where you have a persona something that oh, here comes the Sixers. They play like this and it's all of those things like execute on offense,

take care of the defense, all those things. And he said, we're not there yet and we're hoping to get there, but it's going to take a while. And tonight is reflective of that because tonight they got outplayed and got beaten i'll say soundly by Cleveland. I mean this is the Sixers made an interest game down the stretch and just kind of getting back into tonight's game, like the

urgency that the Sixers. Ben Simmons was on a mission late in this game and not signally out Ben like earlier in the game that he wasn't, but that kind of urgence, that's what you need to bring from the jump and put your thumb print on the game that this is how it's gonna go. You're an we don't lose here, and that didn't happen. Cleveland got on a roll, they got confidence, they were making shots, and then you

get clark I said, Clarkson hasn't scored. He's the fourth most productive bench player at fourteen per He had none at halftime and nineteen in the second half, and he was playing with a swack. He was skipping down the near sideline and to me, you know, he's showing a little bit, showing off a little bit. But I didn't like it, not even a little bit. But he earned

it like he was playing well. And like I said, you got to come back here and speaking it back here the Sixers, you're going back to Brooklyn, where if this wasn't the worst loss of here, it was certainly up in Brooklyn two weeks ago. And that's another team that gives a six the dribble penetrate when they get guards like Dinwiddie and certainly LeVert, how he plays like that's a problem for the Sixers at times, is controlling these dribble drivers on the perimeter where they opened the floor.

And now you know you have to you're switching. You got a mirror or Joel or Biscala guarding some of these perimeter players. Those are tough covers and it'll be maybe a little bit better. But to your overall point about ay, you know there are nights like this and what's in football on any given Sunday, Well, in this league, at any given night, somebody can step up, play well on defeat you. And that's what happened tonight. Seventy Sixers follow the calves one one, one twelve, Tom talk to

you on Sunday. Thank you, Bryan, good night. We'll have some of the highlights from this one coming up. On the other side, the seventy Sixers ran into a determined Cleveland Cavaliers team tonight. They were on the Sixers from the start and never let up, refuse to back down throughout the evening and in the end of nine point loss for the Sixers, bringing to an end a twenty

game regular season winning streak here at the Center. It was great, but it was not to survive tonight, and also a four game streak for the Sixers, their longest of the season. the Cleveland Cavaliers. Obviously a different type of Cleveland team than what we saw the last four seasons, but as tonight would reveal, under the right seven circumstances, still a pesky out. Cleveland jumped on the Sixers early Tonight, went up five double figures behind an eleven nothing run in the first quarter. Jimmy Butler ended it Pascata to Shammon shammont Is a Sixers trail twenty two to eight over

to Butler. Jimmy Butler berries at three He's got five, Simmons with four, and b with a basket, and the lead is eleven. That made it twenty two to eleven. The Sixers or trail by the score of thirty one to twenty three at the end of the first quarter of play. Of note, the quarter came to an end scoring lise for the seventy Sixers on a two pointer from JJ Reddick. He would have a stretch of scoring ten in a row for his team. Here, JJ Reddick for three. It's up and good and the Sixers back

on the board. Reddick with five in a row. It's a three point game, thirty one to twenty eight. In the early stages of quarter A number two Sixers hung around Cleveland and they would go back and forth. But then Ben Simmons put his fingerprints on the game, sparking a run that would send the Sixers in front for the first time, and Sexton handling the basketball on the perimeter twelve to shoot l nine. Simmons busted up Simmons

on the run. Simmons down the nine, Simmons by everybody right hand, lamp up and good and comin Sexton with a turnover there and the Sixers take their first lead Ben Simmons like an Australian locomotive. Six straight by the Sixers. Yes, indeed he was fifty to forty eight was The score was tied up at fifty four going into the half. The Sixers would take control once again early third, Simmons with it his first rebound. Ben advances the left side.

Shammon shot on a transition. It's good a triple by Landry Shammon. He ran right the line, knocks it down. Simmons with the fine as sixth assays and Cleveland takes time out sixty five sixty two, seventy sixers. They would add more insurance behind a six nothing run and a good close out to the middle stages of the third in that period, but the rebound down to the Sixers.

Ben Simmons down the night with the right hand lay up the Sixers, Simmons driving left the right, several players lingered in the backcourt and Simmons able to go one on two and gets the field goal. Twelve points eight assays top of the boards for Ben, Sixers by five, their largest league yet that point. You were feeling kind of good. The Sixers were up seventy nine seventy four, but they trailed by one eighty four eighty three going

into the fourth. The Sixers were able to tie it up on a joel and Bead layup at ninety apiece within the first three minutes of the fourth. From there it was a twenty two to seven run for the Cavaliers, and that was enough to put this game effectively out of reach. Hood with a ball three to shoot, Rodney Hood with it beat ont of them three ball right side up and good Rodney Hood for three and the Sixers take time out. They get in beat on a switch,

Hood makes his fifth three, He's got twenty five. Cleveland goes up fifteen with just under three minutes to go, too much for the seventy six ers to overcome. Despite a relatively spirited effort in the final few minutes, Cleveland wins this one by nine one twenty one to one twelve. Some final notes. In the final statuet, Cleveland shot just under fifty three percent. The Sixers shot fifty three and

a half percent. Problem was Cleveland made nine more baskets because they took eighteen more shots because of their plus eleven advantage on the glass overall, and specifically their plus ten margin on the offensive rebounds department six Ers in never single offensive rebound in the entire first half, Sixers with twelve, three pointers Cavaliers with eleven. The Sixers were plus eight and free throws made the Sixers keeping their turnovers down, but again, rebounding such a major factor in

Tonight's game. Individual performances Joel Embi topping the Sixers with twenty four He also had twelve rebounds for his nineteenth double double of the season, twenty three points for JJ Reddick, twenty two piece for Jimmy Butler and Ben Simmons. Butler in a nice third quarter, scoring ten of his twenty two in the period Simmons double doubles. He had ten assists ten points for Landry Shammitt Off the bench for the Cavaliers, they were led by Rodney Hood with twenty

five points. Twenty three for Colin Sexon, who didn't play much down the stretch, but he was vital to get in Cleveland off to a good start in both the first and early stages of the second halves, eighteen and thirteen for Tristan Thompson, a big body in the middle, leading the rebounding efforts for the Cavaliers. And Chetty Oosman with twenty points and eight boards for Cleveland. Cleveland now in fourteen with the victory the seventy six Ers thirteen

and eight with the loss. Next up for the Sixers, Brooklyn, a chance for well a a bounced back after this one tonight and b possibly some vengeance after the Sixers lost that one twenty two to ninety seven game back on November the fourth. So the Sixers have Brooklyn at six o'clock at Barclays Center on Sunday. Pregame coverage on some of our Sixers Rady Network affiliates beginning at five fifty. Big thanks to everyone involved today's broadcast back at the studio.

That would be Dylan McKinnon and Tyler Zuli here on site. Marty Dickerson now for the radio voice the seventy six Ers time against Brian Seltzer, saying so long for now one final time. The final score the Cavaliers one twenty one to seventy Sixers one twelve on the Flagship ninety seventy five. Von Gibbons in the post coming up next to A great rest of your night see him, we discussed that free game when I brought up a guardian

against a letdown. You brought up with the need to play defensive rebound and why do you think offensive rebounds was such an issue tonight? And I can be done to improve on that. I think it wasn't a mystery to me of like what really you judge pre mortems? If we're gonna die, what's it look like? Yeah, I told you we wouldn't rebound and we didn't play defense. Now what I will say is they they may I

give them credit. I do give them credit, but that's not the thing that that that our locker room needs to hear, you know, I do. We all can see they made some tough shots. But we're at home. You know, that's a game that that you win. It was a locker room in here that I'll see him in the morning and we'll talk more about it. But I know it's a whole team defensively again scoring yea, yeah, I

mean there's something there to that, right, I think. So like those teams that have three live ball guys Brooklyn, you know, this team we struggle. We we do struggle, and uh, you know we're gonna have to find some answers. I think that that when it gets down to you know, end a game, playoff time and regularly you know, crunch time stuff in in normal big games and games like tonight that teams do go small. They're doing that more

than they're going big. And some teams just start out that way, which is really kind of the design of their team. And we struggled guarding them. You know, I thought all their guards made tough shots and they could beat us off alive dribble and there was no there wasn't as much resistance on the ball as we need, and they they just did not feel us. Sometimes other times they felt us, and you know, Hood made some tough shots. But there's no denying that this is a

disappointing loss. And we'll talk more with the team tomorrow about it. What do you think was the cause that was not having the spire idelogy? I don't know. I think we I think he struggled initially, you know, then I think that it sort of settled down initially. I think he produced three turnovers on the double teams. They did a good job. I think we can help Joel, you know, with maybe quick or better spacing. But I give Cleveland credit and causing some some confusion with the

double teams with Joel. You've been listening to seventy six ers rewinde. Be sure not to miss new episodes the day after each game this season, all year long,
