This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game back in Charlotte. The Sixers beat the Hornets and overtime by three one twenty two to one nineteen. And we're joined graciously outside the Sixers locker room by Mike Muscalta And Mike, you just witnessed an unbelievable game by their guy Walker and your new teammate Jimmy Butler with a game winning shot. Your your thoughts in general here after a hired fought
game in Charlotte. Yeah, like you said, very hard fought game. Um, hats off to the Hornets. They played a heck of a game and kemba Walker especially big time shot by Jimmy at the end. You know, I'm just I'm just proud of us for part of our guys. I'm back to back tonight. What was the sentiment in the huddle? You don't have to get me the blow by blow, But obviously Jimmy was the go to guy at the end.
Coach calling its number at the end of regulation, got a good look and came right back to it in overtime. And this is in part. This is why the Sixers acquired a guy like Butler. Correct, yeah, yeah, exactly right. He had a great look at the end of regulation. That's on that it' spen move fight away and that looked great, so you know he got the one to go in overtime. How about Walker, though, he is he not incredible? I mean he's six one maybe and it's
just dry. He's going in there against him beat and he gets those screens and then at the three. What a talent kemba Walker. Yeah, he's a phenomenal talent. Um. You know, he's so tough driving downhill, um, you know, he gets that leverage. Such a great finisher, um, you know, great ball handler handler and great pull up three punt shooter. So he's very tough to guard every night. All right, Mike, Well,
thank you so much for coming out. We appreciate it. Congratulations, thank you, appreciate got a puny Mike mscott I got his first start. He had six rebounds, six assists in thirty seven minutes. Joe albom b thirty three points and eleven rebounds, and Jimmy Butler ended up with fifteen points the game winning shot and for that Jimmy but He was the bell ringer last night and tonight He's the Independence Blue Cross player of the game. Independence BlueCross Lived,
Fear Loss. Get the Power of Independence at ibx dot com. Ben Simmons one assist, shy of a triple double, twenty three points, eleven rebounds in the game. The Sixers beat the Hornets for the third time this year, the ninth time in a rose I mentioned four times here in Charlotte Tonight to crowd nineteen thousand, four hundred and twenty six Sixers win by three and oteen and we'll break him.

We'll have postgame coverage in further detail in a moment hopefully winning fro Brett Brown from outside of locker room and more when we come back on the Sixers Radio Network ninety seven five The Fanatic. These Sixers defeat Charlotte one twenty two to one, nineteen in overtime and one to finish. Is Jimmy Butler caps off and exciting. Really a full full week for him as
he comes to Philadelphia. Has twenty eight points in a home victory last night over Utah, fifteen points tonight and the game winning shot as the Sixers once again defeat the Charlotte Hornets in overtime, as they did last Friday night at the Center. They won one thirty three to one thirty two. They went down to play in Memphis, lost in overtime to Mike Conley, and the Grizzlies went on to Miami. Won that game in Butler's debut in Orlando. Lost Wednesday, but again one last night and come out

We'll hear from Brett Brown outside the Sixers locker room. But for now we pause. We'll return to Charlotte on the Sixers Radio Network. You're home from the Sixers ninety seven five The Fanatics, the Philadelphia seventy Sixers Postgame Show. Let it be Swanton on the Glass, Simmons, jam he Roson,
dive over to JJ three bonus card running crops. The Sixers Postgame Show right now on ninety seven five The Fanatic in the new Era of the seventy Sixers version of their very own Big Three. You never know which player of the three and Bat Simmons Butler will come up huge win need it tonight? They needed contributions from them all in Game number three as a trio together in overtime in Charlotte tonight as Jimmy Butler drilled the game winning three pointer to give the seventy Sixers a
one twenty two one nineteen victory on the road. Hello all, I'm Divine Givens. Welcome to the Sixers Postgame Show right here on the Sixers Radio Network. We'll travel back to Charlotte to hear from head coach Brett Brown outside of the visitors locker room and also check back in with
the team's radio voice, Tom McGinnis. The Sixers traveled to Charlotte and stung the Hornets in game number three between these two teams, where the seventy Sixers have won all three matchups, two home, one on the road, picking up their third win of the season and coming away with the victory after a nominal performance by Charlotte's kimber Walker, who scored a career high sixty points and so many different varieties behind the three point line getting into the lane.
Very crafty, right decision by Six's head coach Brett Brown to have Jimmy Butler on kimber Walker. But when you have it going on, you have it going on. So what we have going on right now? Head coach Brett Brown outside of the visitor's locker room, what does that mean? I mean, I think the best thing for us to come out of it is when he misses the shot
similar full spot at the end of regulation. I'm looking over my assistant coach and shoulders and I'm seeing the team like get him going, Like it's it's just fine. We got an overtime to play, and I think the support and the the just reaction from his teammates to get him going to lift him up. That to me
is one of the highlights of the night. Obviously, him making the shot in overtime was a huge play, and I think, you know, we're going to talk about him making the shot, but really, what all the sort of replays in the explanation of the shot should show is him blocking a shot out of mid ea and then saving it, you know, over his shoulders and springing down the floor, and then we get a time out, then we set up to play where he makes the shot.
That was an incredible twenty seconds of of Jimmy Butler. So what's the lesson in that defensive play? I mean, Kemba was going for crazy numbers all game long, and it seemed like Jimmy just stuck with and then made that keep paying. I mean I say it every time I come here, and Kemba makes me say it because of the performances that he has had. He's amazing, He's incredible.
He really We've tried, we tried double teaming him, we tried hard hedging him, and you know the reality of it is is you got Joe Allen Jimmy in that situation a lot and He's doing that against two All League defensive players, and he just he's hard to guard. He's really unique. He's hard to guard. He can create contact and initiate that sort of physical play to generate free throws and get a shot off. You know, sixty points in an NBA game against a pretty good defensive team.
That's a remarkable effort. How did you think that Ben just manage the game? From a point guard perspective? On a long I thought he was pretty good. You know, I think the first period we came out of the gates and we were running, and I think running more sort of continuity. We still, you know, have hitches and everything we're doing because of you know, Jimmy's Ben with us only for you know, handful of days. But I
thought in general we did okay. We the story is Kemba and the story is Jimmy finishing at the way he did. If we dig a little deeper, you're gonna look at Joel and beating Ben Simmons have pretty good games themselves, and you're especially going to see Ben Simmons and Joel Embiid being incredibly efficient at a free throw line. That that enabled us to you know, hang around and
ultimately get the win that last shott. Thinking there just it doesn't take much creativity to to find a way to win, you know, really we we we just looped him up to the top and made just try to make everybody aware of trying to get that last shot and then try to position the people around Jimmy the way that we want. But that that's what the great
playoffs can do, and it's what we spoke about. Um. You know, with the inclusion of him, that he's got the ability, whether it's a pick and roll in isolation, we saw in isolation to create his own looks and that is a real gift in the NBA those players that genuinely can do that at a high rate, and he's one of them, and he's ours. And so to see that happen, to see him be able to to to make amends for that shot he was disappointed, missed and regulation and then have the opportunity to back it
up and deliver as he did. I think it's a tremendous feel good story. And his teammates certainly shit and that assistance that was Sixers head coach Brett Brown outside of the visitors locker room at the Spectrum Center after the Philadelphia seventy six is defeat the Charlotte Horns one twenty two, one nineteen and speaking a lot there of Jimmy Butler, as Coach Brown just alluded to, he's ours on the other side. When we come back. We'll check back in at the Spectrum Center with the Sixes radio
voice Tom Again. Its right here on the Sixers Radio Network sent five. The Fanatic Club seventy six is the official season ticket waiting list of the Philadelphia seventy six Ers. I'm divine givens with you after a one twenty two one nineteen victory four the Sixers over the Charlotte Hornets win number three on the road.
On the road. As Tom again his back at the Spectrum Center, you heard him call the entire game as always as we have back and check in with them. Tom. Two storylines obviously here tonight. We'll start off with the home with the visiting team, and that will be with Jimmy Butler obviously the big shot at the end of the game to win and give the Sixes to one
twenty two one nineteen victory. But also, as Brett Brown alluded to, the wherewithal to stop Kimball Walker on a drive to the basket, not use his body to foul him, block the shot, and remain in bounds to keep the ball in play and allow the Sixers to do what they did at the end of regulation with his game winning shot. Yeah, I believe that's you summed it up pretty well there, Divon. That's excellent basketball and that's a
superstar player to make that. Hey, ever since the Sixers got him, and how you describe Butler and years past, he's a two way player and it's represented by All Star status and four times in row being on the All Defensive Team and he just proved his medal in both respects and won the team a ballgame. And bead was good, Like coach said, you look down the line, Ben almost had a triple double. JJ Reddick was good. Early.
The Sixers continued to build big leads and let them get away that that's a little troublesome because here's Charlotte, a team that's under five hundred, and you know you're not going to be able to do that against really good teams that are a top the division like Toronto, like I think eventually Boston. So that's something the Sixers kind of have to arrest. And again, they've had a packed schedule. Brett Brown was just saying that this is their fifth back to back. It's their fifth or their
first win in a back to back scenario. They played more games than anybody else, and this is after going to China and now a little more breathing room. Still tough NBA competition, but you're going to be at home for three in a row. Then you go to Brooklyn where you know they're gonna be fired up to play after getting the schlack there two weeks ago tomorrow, But all in all, a tremendous performance by Jimmy Butler, who his numbers throughout the course of the game weren't all that.
He had twelve points at US up until that stage, only six in the first half. He was doing a good job. But Kemba Walker, it's sixteen points. And I'm not putting that on Jimmy Butler because Kemba Walker is amazing as everybody can attest it, hurt or watch this game. Brett Brown just alluded to it as well. But just the fact that the Sixers won and they did it with their newest player, that this huge acquisition is a
huge statement in and of itself. Yeah, in time, when you look at this team, you've seen a lot of basketball covered a lot of games, and you see an acquisition like this with Jimmy Butler. Three games so far in the books with the team, two wins, one lost in twenty eight points last night his home debut fantastic, and then this tonight. You've seen it turned teams around and give them a different type of feel after acquiring
a player like this. And I'm sure we can all look at this and say, Okay, this is a different type of feel now with this basketball team well, and as certainly when you're a team with chemistry and you kind of don't care who gets the credit as long as you win, which I get the feeling is for the majority of the way, how the sixers there, how they feel and whatnot. You're gonna go, hey, as a team, we got Jimmy, That's what they're gonna say. They're gonna
he's already done it once. And when he missed that first shot, Honestepene's like, wow, that would have won the game. But I was thinking, like even with jj Reddick, Reddick missed a big shot against Boston last year and hit a big shot earlier this year, Like those things are cyclical, and as coaches, you can live with a good shot because you can't guarantee a guy's gonna make them. But when you get them and you're putting it in the hands in prolific scores, guys that have done at time
and time again, you can live with that. And so that was my thought, even if it wasn't even in this game. But it turned out to be got another opportunity. So that's what when you say helped turn it around. You added a go to guy and then so much more than that. But he just proved the go to guy part. And we already talked about the defense. So hey, look I look at the Sixers and again you're gonna have would have, could have, should have games. But they
could have. If you could have beat Memphis, you could have beat Detroit, and there was another game in there that the Sixers probably should have won. Think about that. If they were fourteen and four, right, they would be considered one of the wouldn't be a choppy start at all. And it's these types of play one play here or there, and that's what changes your record. You know, they lose
tonight and it's the whole different thing. They're eleven and eight, so and that's what teams that get into this situation. More and more they execute, they learned the circumstances, what works, what doesn't, and then again, you know, it doesn't always have to come down to the end. But that's what happened tonight. It was certainly another thrilling, exciting game, and they've had a number of those so far this year.
Tom mc ginnison Charlotte Lie from the Spectrum Center after the Sixers one twenty two one nineteen overtime winning a thriller thanks to Jimmy Butler's game winner. One more for
you time before we let you go. Ben Simmons after ten to eight and eight performance last night in a very good win again four the sixes at home, he came out tonight and you saw the aggressiveness right from the start, open opportunities, in the fast break, in the open floor, fast break opportunities, going right to the room. He finished seven to thirteen for twenty three points, eleven boards, nine assists. But the thing that really stands out nine of eleven from the free throw line and big ones
towards the end of the game. Yeah, no, that's great. You started out five for five and you're right. So he's shooting sixty three percent overall, but it's trending in a better direction than that over the last five games. So hopefully he continues to do that, because I think that goes to your point about driving to the basket.
When he's you know, comfortable and competent going to the foule line, then even though he might take contact and get fouled, he's gonna go aggressively knowing he's gonna be able to go to the line and knock down a couple of free throws, so that's important, and no doubt about it. He he's amazing when he gets to the rim, when he gets away from the bat. He made a
soaring hook shot tonight that was in rhythm. But it's tough sometimes when he the clock's winding down, he gets caught with the balls in his hand and then he has to hit a turning baseline jump hook. I mean, there's Jabbar and maybe a sprinkling of others over the years that have been able to that's a high degree of difficulty and that's something you know, you kind of paint yourself into a corner a little bit when that
ends up being the dilemma. But again, he's still such a young player to your point being aggressive, and you know it's gonna be a mix getting jj getting Jimmy having been be aggressive obviously Joel, and that's going to take some time. That's the part I think where coach said, you know, that's going to take a few weeks, certainly the end of this first third of the season into January February, and hopefully everything will be clicking. There'll be a lot more symmetry as he get into that last
twenty five or so games of the regular season. Well, Tom now headed back home for a game on Monday, for a night homestand for the team where one mckel bridges come to the town with the phoenix sizes. You got a rooting interest there. Yeah, that should be great. It should be for you. Thank you, Tom. We'll talk to you on Monday. Fur Con Korkmi is getting a lot more minutes the trust from Brett Brown
had coach of the seventy sixers. As he goes to the basket here for layout and now twenty Parker hasn't taken away by Boltz markl with it to fur Con. He finished the night with that one of four from the floor, three points overall for Furkon is only field goal on the evening.
Ben Simmons again aggressive all evening long, this time attacking the offensive glass. Finally Joe finds him, but way out on the right side. Bottler from deep for three mming down the rebound slam by seven. Are you kidding me? Ben Simmons impeccable timing right hand thrown down fifty nine
forty eight for the visitors. Has Ben Simmons again strong to the basket after he missed by his teammate Landry Shammitt with the baseline dunk to make it sixty one fifty six ers sixty three fifty six after two Philadelphia in front to start off the third quarter. Again. Not a lot of scoring in the third quarter overall for the seventy six ers, only nineteen points, but JJ Reddit continues to be strong from behind the three point line.
Shimmons now ten rebounds in the game, ten points. They feed Butler back up to JJ opened three shot up and good. J. J. Reddick trains to triple time out Charlotte three ball in the face up thick but two sixty six sixty Sixers. After that basket there, Kimba Walker follows up to make it sixty eight to sixty six Charlotte as they started to take over the game at
that point. Kimba Walker kept it going in the third quarter with a three point of light in that quarter, rebound Parker ahead of Scheller and bridges Tony Parker to Keimba three ball in the year by Walker for the lead. It's good. Kemba Walker puts him in front with two minutes ago in the third eighty one eighty Charlotte at that point to Wayne Bacon with the three of his own to make an eighty four eighty eighty six, eighty
two Charlotte. After three quarters, Ben Simmons starts to fourth quarter tie things up eighty nine eighty nine, hitting Landry Shammon for a three and Mike Muscala getting into the mix. Butler with the ball, Jimmy back out the Scott, He'll try it for three from out top of It's good. Mike Biscotta on target from the top of the arc. Butler with a nice kickout first three from Mscalta and now the Sixers up too, his only three of the night, one of six from behind the three point line for
six points in his start. Four the Sixes tonight, thirty six minutes of play for Mike Muscala. Kimball Walker phenomenal tonight, scoring in a variety of ways. This time is step back three to make it one o eight, one oh seven Charlotte Bridges screen sixers run a couple of them. Now Jimmy one on one, Walkers step back three shot here twall he back to a lucky shot by Walker. He turns his pumps up where it's like, what do
you expect? It was too late for the bank to be open, but it counts for three for Charlotte again at one point advantage. At that point, Ben Simmons against a big steal head, also goes the length of the floor to Joel and bad foul by Charlotte makes two
one ten, one o eight Sixers at that point. Then Kimball Walker also converting two free throws to make it one ten ten after the four at the end of regulation, what Jimmy Butler did miss a fadeaway jumper in overtime in bead stars, things off for the Sixers to tie for jumper to tie up one twelve, one twelve. Then JJ Reddick scores five in a row starting with this
three pointer. Butler back to Joel, back to JJ, circles out front, leans in three ballers up a good j j Reddick come evers, he runs around they are catches and shoots knocks it in one point lead for the Sixers. Follows it up with a nice ball fake to get Dwayne Bacon flying right by him. Step in jumper one seventeen, one fourteen. But then it was this the one we've
heard though around the entire NBA. Jimmy Butler with his own version of his step back to win the game eight seconds ago in overtime, Butler again, one on one, five seconds ago. Jimmy Butler right, hen dribble between the legs, right hendribble on the right side, two seconds right, just for three. Tough shot. That's good Jimmy Butler three touch of a second ago. Oh yeah, Charlotte doesn't have time.
Big shot. Huge shot by the newest acquisition of the seventy six is Jimmy Butler with the three point with three tenths of his second remaining on the clock in overtime. A heave by Kimba Walker to try to give the Cholotte Horners an opportunity to tie it and send it into a second overtime failed. Six is victorious one twenty two one nineteen big shot. Only fifteen points on the night for Jimmy Butler. But had he not scored any all night except for those three, I'm sure Sixer fans
would have been thrilled with that result. Right there again, twenty three points for JJ Redick on the night. Joel ebeat strong quiet if you will, thirty three points, eleven rebounds, two block shots for the Big Fella getting to the free throw line converting thirteen of fourteen.
