This is seventy Sixers rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. He's the Philadelphia seventy Sixers postgame Show. It beat Swatson on the glass and seventh flop damn heat rozen down over to JJ three ball. It's good running crops at home the Sixers postgame show right now on ninety seven five the Fanatic before the official arrival of Jimmy Butler. There was a win tonight in Miami, Florida. The seventy Sixers
pull away from the Miami Heat down the stretch. They get a really nice victory at American Airlines Arena by the final of one twenty four to one fourteen. Brian Seltzer with you on a momentous day for these seventy Sixers franchise from Sixers dot Com. Sixers making the trade for Jimmy Butler official earlier this afternoon. He's going to be introduced at a press conference in Camden at the Sixers training complex tomorrow starting at eleven in the morning.
Then the plane is frohim to join the Sixers in Orlando for a Wednesday's road trip finale. But amidst all that excitement and understandable really enthusiastic, momentous reaction to the news there was a game to be played tonight, and the Sixers went out and got business done. It seemed like a very entertaining, high energy, up and down game, high scoring affair Sixers in the heats they scrapped and fought hard in their five game opening round playoff series
last year. It seemed like this game had some of that same spirit, even if some of the personnel and cast for both clubs were a little bit different. But to the Sixers credit, they went on and eleven to two run after Miami closed within four points late in the fourth quarter. Ben Simmons, who was picking and choosing the spots at least to me it seemed like for most of the game, really sees the moment and threw down a couple of big jams during that putaway run
and the Sixers pulled away one, two, one, fourteen. But the conversation with this game begins with two players in particular, Joel Embi thirty five points, eighteen rebounds, three assists and only two turnovers, and also JJ Reddick. Reddick was vintage form Tonight twenty five points three three pointers, eleven of twenty from the field, just making so many difficult contestant shots on the move look routine and easy. That's what
he does and he keeps on doing it. Joel and JJ combining for sixty of the six ers one hundred twenty four points. The bench with some really good play, namely furcon Quirkmise smelling opportunity. The reps in game are there right now for him, and he came out and he scored sixteen points, a personal best five of nine
from the field. Also, though he played some pretty committed defense four rebounds, he came up with a few steals that led to transition buckets and then Mike muscle the moose man back with a mask thirteen points, eight rebounds, and he was a very helpful force in the front court for the seventy six Ers tonight, the force behind the mic game in game out the man Tom mc ginnis called tonight's win seventy six Ers now nine and six, and it was a matter of getting things done, Tom Tonight,
with some rests. It seemed like the Sixers very spirited and energized, no doubt about it. And as Klick Brown was saying you needed against Miami. They are very good defensively, but the Sixers ended up shooting forty seven percent in the game and like we're able to maintain the lead and then when it mattered most pulled away and put the game away. So that was really key. And as you said, you know, several performances from multiple players down
the bench. You're undermanned, as you mentioned pregame, you activate Demetrius Jackson and shake Milton, the guys from the from the G League. You're two way players just to have enough bodies, and Landry I thought played a lot better in terms of shooting at JJ was just brilliant to start the game, and so was Joel and across the board. Solid job by Ben and Loscala and Furkon with their best games maybe as Sixers. Yeah, let's talk about Furkon
a little bit more. He saw some run against the Memphis Grizzlies and Saturdays overtime lost and started this three game road trip, and tonight he was out there, hair on fired type play from him, and it seems like he very much recognizes what this landscape is right now, and who knows when the opportunity can come around again for him, no doubt about it, you know, and as Brett Brown said, with the opportunity, you know that that's what happens with players like again, nobody I thought you're
talking about Firkn right. I don't think anybody thought Landry would be in this position. And yet, you know, you start to gain some confidence. Obviously you're a good basketball player to get here, and then you know, you start to gain some confidence, you get that belief and you just continue to grow that and that turns in Sometimes guys take that and run with it for the rest
of their careers. So you know, Furkon obviously, you know, attracted a lot of attention when the international play, and he can shoot, and that's something the Sixers need, you know, with spacing and the ability to knock down shots. Every team needs them. All right in time, well after tonight's game, the focus can fully shift to tomorrow eleven am press conference at Camden introducing Jimmy Butler. He'll fly down to Orlando and then should be out there Wednesday night at
Amway Center against the Magic. You've had a chance to see him evolve over the course of his career. What are you most excited about what he can bring to this team. Right, Well, first a little program note I was mentioning it's going to be streaming on Sixers dot com. That's true, correct, that is true, Yes, sharing that with our listeners. So, like I said, you know in the cubicle at work, you kind of just fire up, and that's right. And well, I just think he's you know,
look the Sixers and Beat is becoming that guy. And that is a guy you can throw it to and get you a basket down the stretch. That's how playoff games are. One. You know, you can have all these fast break points and play with pace and tempo, but in a playoff game, it comes down that a half court and thrown it to a guy who can make a play. And Jimmy Butler's that guy. He's done that. He's averaging twenty one points. He's averaged right around that
his entire career. He's a shot maker. He's got the athletic ability to get off his own shot and uh and then you know people try to cover him. Then you got the options of Reddick and being and moving that ball around, getting a slashing Simmons to the basket and all like that. So I mean it's just over the summer, you know, the Sixers, there was so much hope for you know, signing this guy, potential training for that guy. Well they got a guy and he's Jimmy Butler,
and it's it's in the it's in the fold. So all of this over the course of the years. You know, pat Riley in Miami, the president of the Heat, you know, like he talks about players and draft picks all all the front office people do. It doesn't sound the moral warm and fuzzy, but their chips, their assets in terms of being able to acquire other players. I mean again, you draft, you trade, and you know those are those
are the ways you get players. And so, uh, you know, to get Jimmy Butler in a trade, you gave up two really likable starters and Dario and Covington, but you get one of the top fifteen players in the NBA in Jimmy Butler, and so it's gonna be exciting. It's gonna take a while for him to assimilate into what the Sixers do. But again, defensively, you know, the major tenant of defense is being able to guard your guy
and being able to stay in front of him. You can learn schemes and whether you split a switch and all that double all that stuff. But the first part of defense is being able to guard. And he can guard. He's been a three time member, four times on the All Defensive squad and that's that's a pretty good thing
right there. So it's it's very exciting. I mean it's and again it comes early enough in the season where the Sixers are gonna what is this tonight the fifteenth game, You're still going to be able to to work together and try to hit your stride. I mean, the whole season for the Sixers has been trying to find a rhythm and this will be a whole other thing. This is gonna start a new really in Orlando and from there on getting the new player and a key player
like this. But it'll be interesting and I think fun to watch it evolved. You know, time. I've never talked to Jimmy Butler on a personal of it before, but I feel like you and he might be simpatico in some respects high motor, high energy guys. I think it'll be a good fit. I don't know. I think he's gonna be great for our franchise. That's for sure, it's going to be exciting man to have a you know,
a star player like this and hopefully liked. Like Brett Brown said pregame, the Sixers can do a lot for him too. Jimmy Butler's never won a championship. His teams have made the playoffs and I believe six of his eight years, and now he comes to a team that has a chance to compete, you know, in the East and go forward, win series in advance. At this this is still the prime of his career. So boy, it's it's just going to be exciting to have that kind
of caliber player. And again, you think about the Sixers. I was writing the Open in twenty five years biggest trade. But you think of the Moses Malone deal, you think of the Julius Irving deal, the Sixers. You know they Barkley was a build deal. Goal in the other way, They've had some blockbuster deals over the years, but not in the last twenty five thirty years. I might the Barkley deal might have been thirty years ago, right, I mean, you came up here. That's so unbelieval. How about Elton
Gan Elton brand out of the gates. I think everybody's gonna be excited to see Jimmy Butler, but they're gonna be pretty excited to see Elton Brand tomorrow too. Now, I can't wait to hear what details might emerge tomorrow in that press conference about just how the long game was played out with these negotiations. Well, yeah, you read, you read some of these things. There are some backstories there. But that's the kind of thing that you know, I
don't think an agent might mention that, but not. Eb doesn't want to talk about that stuff. You know, he's he's got the feather in his cap and that they acquired Jimmy Butler. But from what you hear, from what you read, they weren't over. They kind of let it play out a little bit. I mean, all these other teams, including Miami in them, Houston offering reportedly those picks and whatnot, and then to sit back and you know, those things go back and forth. There was a lot of people,
a lot of parts, draft picks, whatnot. Josh Harris involves apparently based on your owners, right, Like that's like somebody asked the question of Elton Brand at the press conference. You know, well, when it comes down to really make a decision, who's gonna be like, well, look, these are multi million dollar contracts that potentially done. Of course, the owners are going to be involved. It's their franchise, you
know what I mean. So you're seeing more and more of that over the course of time, understandably so with the high stakes involved for all of these teams. All right, Tom, Well it should be a very exciting Next. What is it? Forty eight hours leading up to Wednesday's game seven o'clock against the Orlando Magic, Jimmy Butler's anticipated and scheduled debut. Talk to you beforehand, Thank you, Brian, Good night. Seventy

The news of the day was Jimmy Butler acquired by the seventy Sixers in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but there was still a game to be played at American Airlines Arena in Miami, Florida, site of last year's first round playoff series. Congratulations Mike, great, what a hard fought and you guys have to feel good with the way you guys played and finished this one out. Yeah, great team win, and I thought we ended it really well there in the fourth quarter. Rebounded well all night and feels great. You went like three of ted, but all three of your makes were threes. You had thirteen and eight. Now, somebody might say three of ten, but thirteen to eight you'd
take that every night. Huh. Yeah, I was. I was off there in the first half, but coaches and teammates kept encouraging me a mental lot to say, keep shooting, don't be hesitant, and I'm fortunate to make a couple in a second half. How was it with the mask? If you ever had to wear one before? Now, it was the first time. So I've done some shooting with it. Um, you know, I practicing within and stuff. So just gonna
keep it, taking it one day at a time. I know this is something we talk about almost every game, but I bid was just incredible one day. Yeah. I mean, he's a very very special player. And once again tonight he was dominant. It's a real treat to play with him. A cork mars making a splash. How about furk On? Yeah, he was great, and he was great tonight, great shooter, very aggressive and we're gonna celebrate with some Turkish food tonight. All right, he's taking me out. I'll let you go.
