Frozen down over to JJ three bonus good running crops The Sixers postgame show right now on thirty seven five The Fanatic What a treats for the home crowd. In tonight's home opener, the seventy Sixers a thoroughly dominant one twenty seven one away victory over the visiting Chicago Bulls and even the Ledger on the season at one and one two games in, Brian Seltzer grates be with you
on the postgame show tonight. Our hope is that we'll be able to effort some audio from Brett Brown's postgame media availability, because I want to hear him talk about a ton of stuff. How about Joel Embiid absolutely dominant a thirty point twelve rebound game to go with four block shots. Ben Simmons needed less than twenty five minutes to spend his first triple double of the season. He finished with thirteen, thirteen and eleven. Robert Covington very solid
twenty points contributed to the cause. Good defensive presence. But I think you know, there are a lot of other
things you can look at from this game. Landry Shammot some eye opening minutes, twenty nine of them for the Sixers, finished with twelve points, four rebounds, two steals, defended well distributed, great vision, But I think once you get past the win and the bounce back and Bead and Ben Simmons, there is no doubt the story from this game was, yes, the twenty year old Mark hell Folds, but mainly how
the crowd here treated him the entire night. I've been around for thirty three years, and I've not been to every sporting event in Philadelphia, but I think you'd be hard pressed to find another display of encouragement, support, love, affection.
It was amazing when he hit that three pointer. It was like the Sixers hit a go ahead shot in a playoff game, and that just type of positive energy in tonight's game and all the everything you heard and everything you read the last forty eight hours after the Boston game, one single game was like the sky was falling. It's a long season, long way to go, and just for Mark hell Faults, someone who has worked hard and his heart is in the right place, it was terrific
to see the fans rally completely unanimously in support of Faults. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox now, but a really nice game from urkel Folts he started. He did come off the bench in the second half, finished with twelve. This game got off to a tourid start. There was combined seventy nine points in the first quarter of the Sixers trailed forty one to thirty eight. The defense locked in
after that. The Sixers held the Bulls to only thirty five points between the second and third quarters and that helped them build up the lead as large as twenty seven and roll in this one going away by the final of one twenty seven twenty eight. Tom McGinnis is
sitting right next to us. Tom, your initial thoughts A vastly different look from the Sixers tonight, no doubt, And boy, they finally got things turned around a little bit because Chicago was just as you said, really hot to start, and that was an exciting opening part of the game. He had a sense of Sixers defense would begin to take control a little bit. That's exactly what occurred in the second and the third and in Bed and Simmons
were just playing at another level. You knew coming into the game that Joel was gonna have to like the matchup with Wendell Carter Jr. A promising young player, really a forward for Chicago placing that had five spot here
tonight and did not disappoint. He was a perfect four for four to start the game from the field and Simmons like in Boston, he maybe didn't have quite the game that he did tonight, but he just looks like, you know, he was at another level last year for first year players now you know, and he looked like if the phrase a man amongst boys, among young first year players tonight he almost looks like that period in
the NBA. He looks like he's on a mission. And he was dominant tonight, flowing, attacking, got to the line, made all of his free throws. Covington finally got hot. You got nice performances off the bench from Shammon and Reddick, and then Marquelle picked it up and played well, particularly passing a mere Johnson played well. Great team win for the Sixers with their first victory of the year. Seventy six Ers was over the Chicago Bulls one twenty seven
to one oh eight. Did I go a little bit too overboard that I get too carried away talking about what the crowd was like with Markel It was great. I mean it was great. On one hand, like if you just took everything away from what we know in the whole situation, you're talking about a player making a
fifteen foot or like, well, what's going on? But with everything, the support was awesome and he joined his point post game and mentioned and how could he not be invigorated and buoyed if you will buy that crowd reaction and
you could tell you. I mean, it was visible that the guy's got a lot of hopping and step anyway, but I thought it had added a little zest to the way he was carrying himself and dribbling that basketball and making plays, and you know, like it's almost like in a in other words, his contribution down the stretch the game was in hand, but like when your team's not winning, you're like, wow, you got to get something
out of this game. And for me, that down the stretch for Marquel, I think that probably gave him a bit of confidence as he gets ready now for another home game against Orlando. And you know what, I think in the end, he's gonna be fine. He just needs to continue to gain momentum and play well and keep doing the things that he's doing. Is Brett Brown said pregame, Brian, and you were sitting there during his availability as well. He's going with it, you know, he's there's no doubt
about it. You know, he's gonna try to grow and develop Marquel Folks for the benefit of the team. And that's the way it's gonna stay. And so Fols played well here tonight and not perfect, but certainly shows some great signs as he continues to move forward during this second season. Six Ers topple the Chicago Bulls one twenty seven to one to eight, win their home opener, and the records now one and one on the year. How
about our man at a Boise State tonight? Like what you see right, Landry Shammont, Look, I beg your pardon Whichita state? Oh yeah, no, he's now And that to me, he's not like the Sixers have the mantra welcome to the moment. He's he's he's welcoming his NBA moment without
batting an eye. In other words, he's stepping right into shots, I thought, and understandably, So you go into Boston hostile territory opening game, and you know, maybe he wasn't as confident, but tonight and I talked to him pregame and he said, man, I can just feel it. There's gonna be a lot of energy in the building. And that's what he does. And the Sixers did a great job and scouting him and drafting him, and he's gonna be a contributing player.
And when you consider he was the second of the sixers two first round picks, and that they acquired a hearing that deal with Phoenix and when Smith gets back, you're going to add and inject a whole no other athletic component to it. And Sham, it's a good player, that's for sure. And I think he's going to hold his own defensively. And hey, the Sixers neat shop makers and he's going to fit the bill in part from that department. Next up for the seventies Sixers, they've got
the Orlando Magic on Saturday at seven thirty time. Talked to you at that point. You got it, Brian, Thanks and good night. Sixers over the Chicago Bulls one twenty seven, one o eight. After a competitive high school first quarter, no doubt about it for the Sixers. After that, we had Joel Embiid with thirty points, twelve rebounds, and four
block shots. Ben Simmons's first triple double of the year with thirteen points, thirteen boards, eleven assists off the bench, a mere Johnson a very nice night, thirteen points for him and three rebounds. He was a nice little spark spelling Joel embiid Landry Shamut looked real good. JJ Reddick very effective as well, and to some great interplay between the crowd and MARKL. Foltz helping pick the young dude up, and he held his own as this game went along.
Sixers end up winning this one by nineteen. We'll continue with our postgame coverage after this thinking their first official appearance of Consequence in the regular season here at the Center hosting the Chicago Bulls and their two eighteen home opener, convincing dominant, one sided win. Brian Seltza with you from Sixers dot Com. We're gonna hear from Brett Brown coming up.
Let's saying about five minutes after our next break, but we'll hit some of the highlights from Tom McGinnis's radio call. A great one to night early on. It was all Joel embad Sixers into a beat and bead gets position and jams it great high low feed by Dario Charge and Joel Ebad running rough shot on the Bulls put the Sixers up twelve to ten, and Bead wasn't done
before he first subbed out. Here's Ebad faking. Carter Junior goes by, Joel sidesteps about it, puts it up and in It's not fair a seven foot center with the mooze of a ballet guy. No, it was not fair, and no contest, no answer from the Bulls for Embad. He had twelve points by the time he first subbed out. Sixers, Bulls went back and forth in a fast paced first quarter.
Bulls actually led at forty one to thirty eight. Then some of the best defense we've seen in the very very very very early going of this season from the Sixers. The defense clamped down that allowed the offense to get going. And this sequence that will play you two highlights from Markuell Folts really showing up Sixers, Bawl, Covington and simmons
On in a moment. Here's Folds from seventeen around that gun, Marquel Folds outside the top of the excuse me, the Filene area, and he makes the free throw and the crowd gives him a huge ovation. They are really and it continues to grow and it's attorney into a semi standing ovation. No exaggeration from the radio man right there, it was true. So much love being shown towards Folts, and especially after this play. Moments later, across big court to faults. Here he goes right at arch Domina, passes
out to Dario, charge for three shot. Here Remy no rebound, faults back to Joe look out below Joco and being slaps it. Oh and he gets the crowd going. The balls are taking time. Marquel faults, helping the Sixers tie the game at forty six. Sixers up sixty five fifty eight at the break in the third. That's when the Sixers put this game away. Robert Covington helped the team get out of the gate. Rolling in the third, Dario to JJ Reddick dribbles back to Dario dribbles on the
wing in the blank kickout. Covingdon't wind up with three ball right time. Sixers put it up an end. Robert Covington knocks down to three on a drawn pick and the bowls want time ten ten to go. In the third, Sixers by eleven, a double digit cushion and a wide open three batman. Folks who we were talking about Sixers would get a nice boost from him. Again. Before the third quarter was done, Mark Keel with a reba left hand put back left hand, tappy finals up his own
visit in Foltz made it ninety two to seventy. The play after that Robert Covington into three. That was Ben simmons tenth assist and clinched for him a triple double before the third quarter was through, Sixers up one oh two, seventy six going in the fourth and this one of the top highlights that was left in regulation. Mark kel with it, He's gonna fire for three. It's in the air and good and the crowd loves that. The Sixers with their eleven made make that twelve three in the
game and the crowd goes crazy. Some of the top sounds from the Sixers one twenty seven one o eight victory over the Chicago Bulls. Sixers now one and one on the year. Will step aside, come back and play a couple of minutes from Brett Brown's postgame press conference coming up. This is the postgame showing the Sixers Radio Network btal segment of our postgame covers the first round of our postgame coverage here on the Sixers Rating Network.
Divine Givens coming up right after me. Let's pause ten seconds for Top of the Hour station ID here on the Sixers Radio Network, the only place to hear Mike Missinelli every weekday from two list six seventy seven five The Fanatic UPE N Burlington, Philadelphia, broadcasting from the Xfinity Studio only from Comcast seventy Sixers Beat the Bulls one twenty seven, one oh eight. We tried to effort some audio from Brett Brown's press conference. We'll give you a
sample of it right here. I mean, I think it's probably and I'll answer you a question, but it's almost like I faulted the whole game. He ended up taking the most shots out of anybody on our team, which in itself is to me a statement. I just saw this, you know, five minutes ago. I wasn't really even aware he was taking that many shots to lead our team and field gold attempts. But I say that as a complete positive. I felt when he was shooting the ball,
they kept going under middle pick and rolls. He shot it to mean it. He didn't look afraid of anything. And he missed the shots, but they looked good. And I think in general, you know, you know, we played him quite a bit of minutes. He end up taking the most shots out of anybody on the team. I thought his defense was very good. I think it's a it's a big night for that young man. I mean, this is Philadelphia, This is Philadelphia, and I say that.
I say that with appreciation, like it's just they They are a educated crowd. They are passionate. You know, they get behind people and they can go at people. And I think them supporting Markel and you know, getting behind him. We need them. We appreciate them supporting him. And you know, I thought all in all sort of culminated with his three point shot. It was a big night for him. Talk about that effort by the Philly Faithful, turning the
narrative about sports fans in this town completely around. It really was awesome just hearing the full throwd support shown towards markul Foults throughout the night, every touch, every shot, and especially after every make. A little bit of Brett Brown. Maybe Divine Givens all play some more of that later on, who knows. I'm just going to drive home and listen to Divine. I'm gonna stop talking right now in just
a second and hand it over to Divine. Seventy six Ers beat the Bulls one twenty seven one to wait real quickly. Sixers numbers one final time Dwelling beat thirty points, twelve rebounds, four block shots. Ben Simmons thirteen, thirteen and eleven.
Covington had twenty points, five boards, two steals in a block Ben Simmons, as we said, leading the way, Markel Folts with twelve, four and five and just a whole lot of support shown in his direction to Mere Johnson leading a quality bench effort with thirteen, JJ Reddick with ten, and I thought Landry Shammont was real nice tonight on both ends of the court. He finished with twelve points and four rebounds, fifteen lead changes, six ties. Seventy Sixers
improved to one and one with the win. Bulls drop two you guests at on and one after their first game a defeat. Next up for the Sixers or Orlando on Saturday seven thirty. He's going to the Bowls locker room as the LSU exchange taking place out of center court. Denzel Vallentine, who did not play for Chicago, talking to Joel. Bobby Portis and Joel exchange in Hello as well. We're in a visit, I believe with Mark cal Folts and
he's joined us with a headset. Mark Cal congratulations, boy. You had the love of the crowd here tonight. That had to make it feel good. Yeah, it made me feel good every time I come out to know, you know, your crowd wants me to do as well as I wanted to do, so h it just makes it better, you know. You know tonight Chicago was I mean forty one points. They were red hot, but you guys were able to gather yourself defensively and turn things around in
the second quarter. Your thoughts on the game, how it flowed, I would ended up in general? Oh man, it was. It was going back and forth. You know, they were making tough shots and second half, I mean second quarter, we started locked down a little bit more on defense and we just tried to make sure we got stops. And then we started doing that and I auto started to click. Then we end up pulling out with the one. Tuesday was tough, but tonight you got great performances from
your stars and the beating Simmons. But Cub played well, You played well, Dario, JJ and Landry played well. You got a lot of individual performance that led up to a greater hole. Yeah, it's a team effort, you know. So every day we come to Pratice, he puts you each other, couple. You know, we're gonna need a whole team and you know make as far as we want to go. So all right, Mark, Hell, thank you, congratulations, We appreciate it. We'll talk to you on Saturday. Thank you so much,
