This is seventy Sixers. Rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game, seventy Sixers will pass the Washington Lizards one thirty two, one fifteen. Brian Selter with you from Sixers dot com. Tom McGinnis is standing by as we take a look back at this one. A memorable record setting night for one Landry sham at Tom and that will be the lasting takeaway from this one. I mean, he is looking to be
quite defined at the twenty sixth overall pick. He's I feel like we've talked about he's always looked like a guy who you can see as a sense of belonging out there. But man, you see something like tonight and it just increased the promise surrounding him that much more well. And I think anybody like yourself, Brian, or anybody in a position to see him put in the work. And
he's at the training complex almost every day. Even if, for example, in a day like today, the Sixers didn't shoot around, they have a walk through here at the building prior to the game in the late afternoon, and I would wage year that he went and shot at the training complex and did some other things with his body and maybe got a meal over there. So his preparation for a rookie, and JJ Reddick has commented about this.
He practices at game speed. He really puts in the time and it's just it's great for him and it's obviously great for the team that he's showed in a way tonight where he had a record setting night from beyond the arc with the eight made threes, six Ers top of the Wizards by seventeen points a game in which they led by as many as thirty one. It was no contest, you know, shamontome I thought finished with
Jimmy Butler started. He was awesome at the outset of tonight's game and first game back and three he missed the last two and he started the night six for six. He was involved in particular, he and Ben Simmons played great off each other, he really did. And to your point, he was six for six to start the game, and his body control and his ability to score is really terrific,
and he was a dominant player. Then Joel got it that they act and after trailing by ten, fourteen to four, these Sixers began to mount a comeback and just started, like you say, to dominate the game and take over but Butler and Simmons, you're right, And like I said, there was one point after a timeout where Jimmy Butler was literally showing something to Ben on the court and then the action resumed shortly thereafter and they scored and
almost like something. I don't know what they were talking about, but Ben Simmons got a jam and Simmons was really a load for them to handle as well. And again, the Sixers have dominated these these two games with Washington, and it'll be interesting to see because that you know, that's the mark of a good team. Can you now go down on their court and do the same thing.
I'm not saying dominate and lead by thirty, but just you know, take the life out of them and show them that it doesn't matter that you're the better team. And you know that would be like a sign of maturity and developing swagger. You know that the Sixers have, and now they need to prove it out there in a big game in Washington. Well, not to get too far of our sales for tomorrow night's game, but it's almost like, you know, Joel, maybe you could say snuck
his way to twenty and ten tonight. I mean, he wasn't the force and the Sixers needing to he didn't have to be tonight. But you almost think like if other things were taken away and the perimeter game wasn't there and you had to unlease Joel, I mean, who on that side is really going to slow him down? Well, I was surprised. I think they you know, Bryant started and he actually did some nice things in the last game here, albeit when the game had been already decided.
But it looked like Scott Brooks wanted to go with Yon Mehemi, who's a bigger body, and put him on Joel. Now they did starting for sure, I would say in the second quarter, but they doubled Joel on the catch and they wanted to get the ball out of his hands. And he's getting a lot better and making those reads and getting the ball out to swing to the opposite side and getting it away and making them pay for
double teaming him. Certainly is short up a little bit in the turnovers in that regard and finding the open man on the opposite side of the court. So if they want to double he's going to try to make them pay. But to your point, I agree, you know, and beat is just it's astonishing the way they would tonight thirty fifth double double of the year, and yet you know, he was, you know, not the dominant player out there. I mean, there were so many other great
storylines led by as we've talked about Landry Shammon. But Jimmy was good and Ben Simmons was good, and the bench was able to hold down the fort and close this one out. All righty, Tom, talk to you tomorrow, Good night. Thanks. Landry Shambon a rookie
franchise record with eight threes. Believe he and Ben Simmons at the postgame podium right now, I just from the beginning, I've said it, you know, I just wanted to find my role as quickly as possible, buy into it, whatever it may be, UM, and just try to be solid and knockdown open looks and um, you know, as a rookie. And they kind of you know, they're hard on me from the coaches that you know, my teammates, everybody expects
something of me. Um, And I love kind of having that sense of responsibility to try to be better, be my best every night. Um. But it's just been I landed in a great situation. I can have you know, been in a better spot. So UM, I mean it's it's all good. Right before the game, French said that he thinks you should be an All Star this Year's come most to their picking the All star team. With anything less than that, there was appoint my priorities, get
the playoffs and you know Abshide Championship. Um, if I'm playing at that level and we were able to do that, then I think I should all righty day. That is Ben Simmons and Landry Shammitts after tonight's game, a one thirty two, one fifteen win. Let us get now to some of Tom McGinnis's highlight calls in tonight's game, a game in which there was no Jj Reddick in the seventy six ers even a few minutes to get going, but once they did, it was good night, Washington Wizards.
Jimmy Butler was huge and lighting the spark hell has a knocked away by Jimmy Butler, prize and free gathers it in and Jimmy Butler gets a slam dug, A slam dug for Butler off the steel. Time out Washington. He's back, Yes, he was after two game apps since that gave the Sixers their first lea to twenty two to twenty. He scored nine point stern to go ahead twelve to two. Run to Jimmy Butler and the seventy six Ers like thirty two to twenty nine after one
quarter of play. Early in the second more of Jimmy buckets. McConnell has to chase it down. Does so, lobs at to Jimmy and left hand play. It's good. What a job by Jimmy Butler. Time out Washington, TJ. McConnell. You talk about playing one hundred percent all out all the time, Well he fits the bill. Sixers did not let up down the stretch of the opening half. They went on
a sixteen nothing run to really seize control. These sixers with the ball, they lead sixty five forty three to get our second quarter, rupt you by Jumark Financial Credit Union. They go up top and Simmons gets the alley, so he goes to Joel and bad and then a bad right back to Ben down Lowe Slam Dung, Big three clicking tonight, seventy sixers clicking up sixty eight forty five at the break third quarter. Let's zoom into the final four minutes. It was a landry at Sham at time.
The understand a JJ Reddick would not have disappointed his men toward tonight and outstand performance on his way to a record setting even Shammont to Simmons. Simmons drives it into the lad on porter backs, kicks out to Shammon, three ball right side. He's done it again. Landry Shammon, a rookie out of witch Jaw State, was six threes in the game. Simmons with his ninth assists ninety one
sixty four. Shamon would then seven a new seventy six or franchise rookie record by hitting his seven three to make it one on one to seventy three. He had one more left and b to Shammont. He's gonna shoot another three, and that's good as well. He is putting on a show. This is one of the best performances of the night in the NBA twenty seven for Landry Shammon, eight three point field goals, six ers led one oh four seventy eight going into the fourth. The fourth met
for a lot of the reserves. Even he would Highsmith, the two way players signed earlier today from the Delaware Bluecoats, had time to make his NBA debut. There's Highsmith for three Heywood Heismith not down to driple fifteen breeze now fifty percent from beyond the arc four of the Sixers. Yeah, just a great night all around for the seventy Sixers in there, one thirty two, one fifteen win every player
on the roster, much to Brett Brown's delight. He, of course, the coach who says the past is king, registering at least one assist as the seventy Sixers set a building record with thirty nine times in the game. For some other stats, Wizards shot fifty percent from the field, They had fourteen three pointers, seventeen turnovers, and the Sixers dominated
them on the glass plus fifteen for the game. And just really the Sixers pouring it on over the course the evening big edge inside Sixers out scoring the Wizards in the pain fifty eight to forty. Six Er shot fifty six percent from the floor, seventeen of thirty four from outside the arc, seventeen to twenty five from the line. We mentioned those thirty nine assists. Just great and it speaks to the collective performance of the team tonight. Twenty
points apiece four Jimmy Butler and Joel Embiid. Embiid with his his thirty fifth double double of the season. He
had ten rebounds as well. Ben Simmons with seventeen points, five rebounds, nine assist sixteen for fur Concork Miles, who played well starting in place of JJ Reddick, but really his role, his function in the lineup tonight was assumed by Landry Shammont, who set a career high with twenty nine points, eight to fifteen from the field, eight to fourteen from outside the arc, new franchise record for a rookie with eight threes, one off the NBA single game
rookie record which was set in two ten and then matched in two seventeen, but the eight threes high for a rookie in the NBA this year just great stuff for the number twenty six pick in this past year's draft, Landry Shammonts.
