This is seventy Sixers rewind time now to listen back to postgame reaction from the team's most recent game. For the third time and as many opportunities in the two thousand nineteen calendar year. The seventy Sixers are winners one oh six, one hundred over the Dallas Mavericks. Ben Simmons his sixth triple double of the season. I Brian Seltzer from Sixers dot com. We are standing by for the postgame press conference of seventy six Ers head coach Brett Brown,
whose team just improved to twenty six and fourteen. Here he is. We joined up in progress right now, plan that we declared at the start, supported by film all that, and I think for the most part, we did a pretty good job respecting the three point shot. They have five guys that shoot thirty eight percent or higher, and four of them start and then the other one, Dirk just you know, didn't play, and so the three point line was one of our primary areas to focus on.
I thought that we did a pretty good job throw the game doing that, and I especially thought in the third period to hold that team to nineteen points was a good effort. But the thirty points that you give up in the fourth, which has happened types like two times now, just like what happens defensively when the habit the lead like that that you allowed. Believe right um, when you when you look at the tapes of previous games, the connection has been the I call it purpose less
offense that that you know produces turnovers. Some of it you just miss some shots, but I think in general the connection has been the turnovers and you know, the discipline to to to run purpose full offense. Sometimes that that ends up stagnant, something that's just like dumping into Joe and like bring us home Joe. That's not always a way to do it. And you know we're finding that balance of the movement and sharing the ball sometimes that produces a turnover versus like you know, just horse
and Joel. I thought tonight, you know, when I get down to seven, the game felt funny. We went to Joel and he found furke On over on the other side of the floor for a three point shot. That kind of change the game. I thought, furk On changed the game. Also, by the way in Phoenix, I think that's some of the problem offensively, and I think that there's a disconnect at times with us switching when we're not on point as much as we need to be. That produces threes. You know, they had three threes in
the fourth. That was Phoenix's stat that stood out the most, that allowed them to come back. And so I think offense defense the combination those two things we have to get better at. But Ben has taken a lot more jump shots like these. That's something that he's been doing, willing Lear, that's something that you've asked him ntil It's it's a combination. I mean I've said, you know for a long time and I'll say it again. I think his jump SHOT's gonna come on his own terms, Like
never have we pivoted away. Have I pivoted away from saying, hey, you know, I'd like to see a jump shot of period, I'd like I want to start growing him to the corner threes. You know, especially as you look at the basket probably on that that that what I call the upside of the floor. And so it's it's coming, you know, it's coming in it needs to come. And tonight it
is true. I think he was through as he three for four or two for three from three from just jump shots, you know, longer shots outside the pain shots, and so it's coming, but it's coming on his terms, and he's aware that that we're not going to do we're not going to do what we want to do unless he does do what he's doing. And uh, it's not it's not anything to me. It's not anything else but a mentality. It's not a play, it's not some scheme. It's a mentality. And uh, lately he's been embracing it.
He should, He's worked all summer on it, and it was good to see him shoot those shots tonight. You know, there was a lot of talk coming into tonight's game about this diverse, multifaceted international ports, referencing Luca Donchez from the Dallas Mavericks. Well, the seventy sixers have one of those as well. He happens to hail from Australia, and he was great tonight. Ben Simmons, who Brett Brown was just talking about, referencing the jump shot development and a
willing jump shooter. Ben Simmons was tonight and routes to his sixth triple double of the season, twenty points nine to seventeen from the field fourteen rebounds, eleven assists for the reigning Rookie of the Year twenty five and twelve for Joel embead If you could have a quiet night in terms of those big numbers, I guess you could put Joel Embiad in that category. He came up though, with two big free throws in a basket late in
the game to finally nudge the Dallas Mavericks the pesky Mavericks. Aside, JJ Reddick remains excellent twenty points for him in what is on pace for a career scoring year for him once again. And Jonah Bolton making a second straight start for the seventy sixers in the absence of Wilson Chandler, a live floor running, rim protecting body eleven points, nine rebounds, two block shots plus eleven arguably his best game as
an NBA player at this level. Today, Sixers attack the inside sixty two points in the paint they went for the third time and as many tries in twenty nineteen. They're now twenty six and fourteen on the year. Tom McGinnis is standing by we go to next The postgame

Seventy six Ers topple the Dallas Mavericks one oh six, one hundred, Ben Simons a triple double, Luca Dontris fourteen points for sixteen from the field, eight rebounds, and four assists on Brian Seltz.
From sixers dot com, we go down to Tom McGinnis. Tom. For a good portion of the evening, the seventy Sixers were in control. Dallas' second unit helped make a run, but the Sixers this was just about trying to further build momentum. Right now they're three and ozer and two nineteen, no doubt about it. But on the other hand. You have to finish off these teams and put them away and not allowed teams to come back, because that's really that's kind of a slippery slope. You don't want to
get into that habit. And it has happened two or actually three games in a row. But hey, give their reserves credit. They came out there and you know they're looking at it. You think of these young guys, they're looking at it as an opportunity to play and play extended minutes and make a difference. And they did, and you got to give I mean, who had anybody heard of Ryan broke Off? I mean all that much before. He's a young player that played at Valparaiso and it's
from Australia. But he showed that he's got bound and he can score that ball and claibor head some moments and I Jalen Brunson, like, I said, you know your route so much for a young player that plays for Villanova the championship, MVP tournament outstanding Player, however you want to say it three years ago. And then he comes in here and he plays very effective against the Sixers and you're like, hey, not so much. Darren Brunson but he was really good. And then you know, you got
to go back to the Sixers. They pounded the ball down low early. The numbers in terms of points in the paint Brian when they have thirty eight field goals in the lane and eighteen outside, so they were aggressive early on getting those baskets down low. And Beat and Simmons fantastic and then again Reddick throwing twenty points on the board, so that trio has carried the Sixers without Butler playing in the last two games, for the last
three games all over twenty points. And then when you did have to kind of win the game again and Beat comes in with six points down the stretch to put the game away. Ben Simmons triple double think. I think Tommy's been playing so well as if late for the most part. And it's something where I almost even think back of that Utah game where I'm watching there's
my personal opinion. You're looking at Divan Mitchell and you're like, you know, you might be able to say this guy in his second year is needing to figure some stuff out a little bit more. Whereas Ben his skill set, his physicality it seems to have help lift him above that where he's really shown no signs of letting down or regressing in any way, shape or form. We'ven't seen elements of growth through his game, as Brett was talking about, with the more willing attempts to take jump shots. Right.
We had him unofficially for three out of four in the in the area of jump shots. And then here's the thing about Ben So he's extraordinarily gifted. It's it's really a unique skill set you've you know, you very rarely have seen. He's been compared to some of the other great players like Lebron and like Magic Johnson in the in the fact that he's a tall player who's got great athleticism and can pass. And certainly there are some some other comparisons other ways, the numbers that he's
brushed up to legends like Oscar Robertson. He's with the triple doubles, kind of like Westbrook in that regard. But you take all of that and the physical gifts, but it's the drive and that you know you're talking about Donovan Mitchell and players will try to downplay a little bit. We had Jimmy Butler do that after that game in Salt Lake City, we're not. I don't think he's going up again. Well I do. I think he takes that as a challenge, like oh yeah, a little little matt.
You know, you could see it out on the floor and you could see it tonight with Don Chich like, oh yeah, you've been getting a little pub Brian Selzer called you the most intriguing starting NBA. Well, I'll show you. And that's what that's what I think he's got. I mean that that's all. These guys are ultra competitive. They want to drill you in dominoes, with at cards, whatever
they play, they want to win. That's how they've gotten to this level is their their their mindset, their physical gifts, and that competitive bug and that that's part that's what we love about professional sports and Simmons he brings that that chip to the table where he wants to pound these guys and let him, you know, let him know whose boss sort of speak. And he was great here tonight, seventy six over the Mavericks wins six to one hundred. We may have Ben Simmons at the podium, we do
not at this point in time. We're standing by. I think Ben was pretty quick up there, but he was great for the Sixers tonight, JJ Reddick Tom continues to have a tremendous year, but also to give some pub to the fellow countryman of Ben Simmons. Jonah Bolden's his best NBA game today. You think, oh, absolutely, and you know first JJ, You're right. I mean, it's it's almost like we're taking him for granted. He's averaging eighteen points per game. He had twenty tonight, and he's so good
at getting away from players and using his speed. Look, if it was that easy to get open and to run around these screens and to use your body and use it for like, everybody would do it. But Reddick is really quick. He's a master. And let's go back to the podium. I think this is Jonah Bolden coming up to the pony would be the result of your I mean the cause of I think, why do you think you're playing so much better now? I mean, is it just opportunity or uh yeah, um Note I wouldn't
say opportunity on hundred percent. Um the teammates, the guys that we have on the team. I think maybe it's a third interview today or whatnot that I've said, it's just it's so much easier to play with guys like TJ and Ben who put passing an assist before scoring, you know, unsebbige players, um, and so knowing that just knowing to get to spots and being in spots to know that you're just gonna get the ball and get
the points is makes the game fun and easier. Did you learn anything about yourself like early on when you know you're getting a lot of DMPs and going down to DG League? No, Um, I once I've learned anything about myself. I never doubted myself. I just I knew what the dude was coming in, um, and I knew, like I guess at the NBA's very opportunitistic league, Um, guys get hurt, you know, guys red blah blah blah um.
And the coaches always had trusted me that were just waiting for the time and then put me in when they felt his best, and I just kind of snatched it up. So pretty's six or rookie big man Jonah Bolden talking about his performance tonight with eleven points and nine rebounds. So time the seventy sixers get another two day at Mini Reprieve and then it's the Washington Wizards for a home and home back to back to wrap up that season. See yeah, and just real quick to
play off of Jonah there. It is opportunity. I mean, he's getting in there, and tonight what I thought he did is he got to the rim and Ben was looking for him. I mean, then you look down. He also had nine rebounds, so he had a terrific game. And then it also takes some time, so he's committed some fouls at him. I'm sure he would love to have back. He's gotten into foul difficulty and tonight I thought and he made one, you know, one foul. I'm
sure he'd love to have back. But for the most part, he's getting more comfortable out there, and that's huge because come on, it is a big stage. It's a huge opportunity. And then he's come out there and the more and more he's played, he's showing what coach Brown has talked about, and that is his ability to be kind of a stretch for which you need to have. And he's a
three and D player. So again this time that he he's getting could be really crucial for the Sixers in big games down the stretch like in the rest of the regular season, and you know Lord Willing in the playoffs where he gets in there and steps up and either fills the gap for somebody or make some big shots that can really be beneficial going forward. So yeah,
there's again breathing room in the schedule. Sixers take Washington back to back and without John wall I mean, now, last year they played better down the stretch at times. Without him, you got deal with twenty four points per game. I understand that Mark Kief Morris is out for them. I believe he has a neck injury. So it's been a tough season for Scott Brooks and the Wizards. But for the Sixers, the first is a home game, and they've been really good at home now seventeen out of twenty.
Yere at the Center in terms of wins and losses. Take care of business, you hopefully get Jimmy and Wilson back into the mix and gain another victory, potentially your fourth win in a row, and just try to again play a better, more solid forty eight minutes and then go down there and see if you can't sweep them. As you get ready for a big weekend with the next you got Indiana coming up in about ten days.
But you know, like Brett Brown said pregame, they're playing okay, they're playing pretty good, but there's a lot more out there. And I think that's what's really encouraging because the Sixers have played pretty to be the twelve games over five hundred, when last year this is when they took off. So we should be excited for the next couple three, four weeks and the rest of the season. All rightytime, talk to you on Tuesday, right back here in South Philly.

Brian Seltzer with you from Sixers dot Com as we get to
some of this evening's highlights. Seventy Sixers playing the Dallas Mavericks on the second night of the back to back for Dallas, no Jimmy Butler or Wilson Chandler once again, no problem getting off to a strong start. Joe Joe with a block, Ben Simmons on a drive, rap run, the bolding and another lay after Sixers are running rough shot on the dall rounding my baby, the Mavericks taking
a time out. It's fourteen to six. Simmons wheeling and dealing and bolding on the receiving end, a twelve two run for the Sixers and an Ausie goal for the seventy sixers, making it fourteen teen to six. After one quarter of the Sixers were up thirty one to twenty six. In the second, Dallas made its move, actually turning things over to its second unit, which played really, really well.
Gave them some nice energy, and Dallas briefly at a couple points, held leads that range from two to four points in the game, but the seventy Sixers wrapped up the first half ironically enough, on another twelve to two run Barnes guard Simmons. Ben Simmons has gonna have to move that ball, drives it into the lane, turns, fades right hand, chump hooking in one second to go. Simmons shoots and scores fifty nine fifty one. Was how it went for the seventy Sixers at the break in the
third quarter. Got to see a little bit of Shake Milton, one of two two way contract players for the Sixers this season. He's been getting more and more run lately, and he made some nice things happen to him. Simmons donald left against Barnes, drumbles with the right hand in the lane. Back out top the shake Milton, he drives at underhand, scoop up the good shake, rattling roll. It's good Milton driving. Layup seventy three fifty nine in favor of the Sixers. They were up by seventeen eighty seven
to seventy going into the fourth quarter. Dallas drung some possessions of scoring variety together. Ben Simmons had an answered Simmons with it back to furk On drives step back, can't get free, two to shoot Simmons is gonna have to fire a turnaround jump shot by Simmons and you bet you up and good Ben Simmons now nine field
goes a crowd loves it. One of two jump shots that Simmons made in tonight's game, letting it fly with a pretty regular base of seventy two seventy eight seventy sixers and fur Con cork Moss filling in tonight for Jimmy Butler in the starting lineup. He helped put this one away. Joela has it down on left against Powell into the lane. He's doubled back up the Jonah rightside Corkbos three ball shot here got it furke On Corkmos knocking down to three. One on one to ninety one
was the score at that point. The seventy sixers with stand alight spurt from the Mavericks, they go on twenty by six one oh six to one hundred six, or shot forty six and a half percent from the field of Mavericks forty three and a half percent, six or six of twenty six from outside the arc. Dallas was nine of thirty one. Sixers were plus one on the glass. They committed just ten turnovers. That was great to see.
They also had thirty one assists on thirty nine made baskets a testament to the style of play the Sixers had. Because you know so, we'll get to another number. The Sixers had sixty two points in the paint, and that might lead you to think, well, Joel Embiid must have been living down low and fueling that. Joel had a steady game, a solid game twenty five and twelve. But those numbers with the points in the paint, I thought were more reflection of sharp passing and cutting, running the
floor with guys like Jonah Bolden. We saw you like that shake Milton basket. That was a perfect example. Landry sham At the beneficiary of some good cuts JJ Reddick as well. So the Sixers really turned it on inside and got the job done. On the Sixer side of things. Joel Embiid ended up pacing all players with twenty five points. He also had twelve rebounds verse thirty fourth NBA leading double double Ben Simmons his sixth triple double with twenty points,
fourteen rebounds, eleven assists. He is second to Russell Westbrook in that statistical category. Westbrook has eleven triple doubles on the year. JJ Reddick with twenty points eight to fourteen from the field, Jonah Bolden Great with eleven points, nine rebounds, two block shots, steady game from fur con Quirkmas seven points, six rebounds, four assists seven, Philandry Shammont off the bench, t J McConnell and Shake Milton each with six points,
seventy six ers. With the winner now twenty six and fourteen, the Dallas Mavericks fall to eighteen and twenty one seventy six ers. Next game is going to be on Tuesday, seven o'clock versus the Washington Wizard struggling and now they don't have the all star John Wall for the rest of the year. He was diagnosed with a season ending heel injury just before January first, So at the game time at seven, we will get to at around six fifty with our pregame coverage on some of our Sixers
