Celt with you from six ers dot com. Let's join in progress right now. The winning head coach Rip Brown, You foul too much and you put them in the bonus early, and there's a barrage of threes. We didn't We only had ten turnovers for the game. We had three late you know, on sort of hooking fouls, and then we got a quick play. We try to get it in quickly from Ben getting in, so we have to burn a time out, you know, went through Cub's hands.
And so I think that the demise of the lead happened with stoppages because they were in the bonus soon. It took away our tempo and our rhythm. And I think that they they made some threes, you know, they really made some threes. And so we'll go back and look deeper into why. But those types of things are on my mind. Anything change when there really wasn't that much indeed versus White Side tonight, when when Embeds matched up against them, and you sorry, just which question is? Well? Like,
how did how did? How is? Anything didn't change it? When the magic went from Emmie versus White Side, which I think they're all expecting to Embed versus a man Um, I mean, I don't really know the probably, I don't know, like you, you'd be able to talk about sort of like the maybe the entertainment side of it, those two guys going at each other. But with Bam, I felt like Joel could get deeper. You know, I think white
Side is a very very good defensive player. Not many times you're going to see a guy block one of Joel's like mini fade waves. But I thought that, you know, we had maybe more than advantage when Bam was in, just from a weight and physical standpoint. You said before the game that when when you have injuries to rotation players, it offers people like Justin Anderson the opportunity to play for more minutes. Do you feel like he had one of those games that might have earned him more minutes
going forward? Already played well? You know, when you when you really sort of look at the bench, Um, I thought at times, you know, a bench struggled. I thought that he played well, and he has been playing well. He understands that he's different than any of our wings in relation to just being sort of a bowl in a china shop. You know, he's so physical, and I think that he has been playing well out of the wings that we had tonight. Um, I give him the
most Uh, I give him the most credit. And I just shortly after the game, but I have to ask, are you still playing? I'm playing Joel tomorrow? Oh yeah, I mean it is. It's a it's a at times when you feel it like it's a little bit of an empty win, and I get upset up myself, a feeling like that, I'm not walking on a planet. All that's great, I'm not feeling like that, you know. I feel like we had an opportunity that was very dominant
for a long time. And so the fact that we did win, the fact that Joel is going to play, I will I will look at this win, I think in a different lens as soon as I jump in my car. But I am excited to have Joe Ellen his first back to back. There you have it. Some thoughts from Brett Brown after the seventy six ers one h three ninety seven win over the Miami Heat. So
let's just very quickly start with that. The Heat came into tonight's game, fourth in the conference and three and a half games in front of the six or so by virtue of a win, the Sixers back above five hundred halt three game losing streak and closed within two and a half games of the fourth place team in the conference. That ain't bad what Brett Brown was just
alluding to right there a few moments ago. In addition to the fact that jillenb could make history tomorrow by in terms of his career, playing back to back games for the first time ever, which would be great, what Brown was getting to the heart of was the fact that the Sixers routes scored by twenty thirty seven to seventeen in the fourth quarter and nearly squandered at twenty eight point lead. How it happened the Heat relying on a seventeen nothing run to get back into the game
will dissect the details a little bit more. All five starters for the Sixers in double figures, twenty points for Ben Simmons, double doubles for Joel Embiid and Dario Charge and the Sixers hold off the hard charging Miami Heats. More to come with Tom McGinnis joining us next. This is the postgame showing the Sixers Raider Network Heat at this Center tonight and a win for the Sixers one
h three ninety seven. Brian Seltzer from Sixers dot Com rejoined now by Tom McGinnis and Tom that got a little bit close down the stretch of the game, a game that the Sixers just flat out dominated with a huge stretch in the third quarter in which they scored nineteen points in a row. But there were the heat. You know, this is a hard playing team. They clawed their way back, but the Sixers do hang on for a nice helpful win in the big picture. Yeah, absolutely,
big picture. If you'd have said tonight at a round six o'clock, you take a six point win over Miami, absolutely twice on Sunday, right, doubleheader on Sunday. And we must add I believe this is Brett Brown's one hundredth victory as a Sixers coach, which you know, that's a pretty big achievement for a guy who's been here for five years and been through some tough seasons. Season with ten wins, you know, it's a great, great mark and
hopefully you'll have hundreds more here with the Sixers. But no doubt, and great stretch to get ahead by twenty eight. But then, as you say, a little concerning to give up a lead and see it cut to four, and yet in the end the Sixers gained the victory. At some point, the Sixers have got to learn from this, and again you can sort of see it coming. As Brett Brown said, they put the opposition in the bonus.
You start seeing some threes, the momentum shifts, the Sixers get away a little bit from what they were doing on offense. And it's happened multiple times, whereas the Sixers have lost these double digit leads, and in the NBA, with so much time on the clock, there's you know, there's there's a chance for the opponents to come back,
and that's what happened here tonight. But again the Sixers were able to lock in and get two big field goals won by Simmons at the rim, one a jumper by Jowell, and I believe he assisted on the pass down load to Ben. So they were able to do it. And you know, they're so talented to be able to
build up these leads repeatedly on good teams. It shows you and obviously the emphasis is not necessarily on that when you let it slip away, but a little easier to focus on that kind of thing when you do get the victory seventy six ers over the Heat, one of three ninety seven. Coming into tonight's game time, a lot of the focus was on how with the first regular season meeting between Embad and Hassan Whiteside go given that very spirited preseason confrontation in Kansas City. Well, especially
in the first half, neither was doing much offensively. They had their rebounds and in the end and Bead finishes with seventeen points eleven rebounds, had a key assist followed by a basket to give the six or some breathing room in the final two minutes. Word came out that Whiteside was battling an illness in tonight's game, so we didn't really finish. But how did you things on that front? It looked like really Olink was one of the guys
that got the Heat back into the game. Yeah, well right, But getting back to Whiteside, I'm glad you said that because I was. I already said during the game, it looks like he plays sometimes with a low motor. I mean, he just did not seem like he was that engaged. So that explains a little bit why Bam and Abaio was in there, and we commented pregame that we thought Adebio would play because he had quickness and strength to deal with Joel, so that obviously had a big part
to do with it. Whiteside did have three blocks, but was really a non factor in the game. And then when they were coming back, as we stipulated earlier, I think Spolster left in that second group with Tyler Johnson who started, because that's the group that got them back in the game, and that certainly gave him the outside firepower with you know, Ellington beginning to hit some threes and Olymic got into the lane, he made a three
point field goal, he got some free throws. Winslow didn't score a lot, but boy, he was active at both ends of the floor, getting rebounds and defensively adding quite a bit. And Joel had it up and down night. Early he struggled a little bit from the field, had a good rebounding night, and ended up with his twenty
fourth double double. And you know, again, when you need a basket in beating not flawless, but it's a nice thing to be able to have your biggest and best player stepping out and making a seven seventeen foot face up jump shot to give you a cushion and give you a much needed hoop. Sixers over the Heat one oh three ninety seven. We tend to focus on lasting impressions of games, and maybe especially in the fresh row moments right after not the matchup. In the totality, Dario
charts great start helped get the Sixers going. He finished with seventeen and ten no absolutely, and the Sixers struggled in Milwaukee and in Brooklyn, but I thought, you know, Dario and the whole group had had its legs back collectively, and Dario five for five to start the game did a tremendous job, had a great action to start the game off a cut, got the ball from Ben and scored it, and then the threes, and then when he gets inside again with space with Dull not in there,
when a years in there, Dario goes in there and he's just able to wheel and deal. Doesn't always score it, but gets a pretty good look at her, is able to set somebody up, and he's just in many ways, like TJ, kind of the heart and soul of the team and just a really good old round player, double figures on the glass, able to guard, and just a
great team player. Who's beloved by his teammates and a key component for this team on Indianapolis with the seventy Sixers go up against a Pacers team with an all start in Victor Oladipo. Tom, we'll talk to you tomorrow. Late night, Good night, Brian. Thanks. Sharich triple time out. Miami a fourteen point lead, and it would balloon to the total of sixteen before the
Sixers run was done. And at the end of the third quarter, Joel and bat who had to battle to get some baskets from the first two and a half quarters of play, got in position to do some damage down low. McConnell with the ball down to Joel to beat against at a bio backs, turns, gets around him and lays it right at the rim. He's got the
last two baskets for the Sixers. Samwich around that break between the third and the fourth quarters, Joel now twelve points, nine rebounds, eighty six sixty after three quarters to play. The Sixers game highly would be moments into the fourth at eighty eight to sixty. They led ninety to sixty two and then the time he didn't. This one turned dramatically as the heat would rip off a total of seventeen consecutive points to put the pressure on the seventy
Sixers down the stretch. Joel embiid Ben Simmons get in the seventy Sixers the baskets. They needed a couple to make it back to a ten point lead, and then Summitt ninety five to ninety two. The Heat charged back, slicing it to a six point margin at ninety seven to ninety one, the two All Star weekend bound prospects
getting it done. Big half court set for the Sixers ten to shoot minute forty five ago, Ben down Low, Simmons catches, puts it up and in He got it underneath with Winslow and Ellington their good feed by Joel Ebad and Miami takes time. Sixers got a stop. Next trip down the floor, sivens well eight goes to Joel if beat with five fakes on out of bio foot fake jump ruppin gun and the Sixers hit the century market lead by nine. Joel let be and that's the
outside shot, baking it one O one ninety two. Yeah. The Heat would score the next five points to make it one O one ninety seven with twenty three seconds to go. The Sixers were able to get a runout dunk from Justin Anderson to cap the scoring in the game and hang on for an important, as we've said, Eastern Conference win. Final notes in the final stat sheet
