Right at the midway point. Of course. The Philadelphia seventy Sixers in game number forty one, improved their record to twenty one and twenty as they take down the Boston Celtics on the road at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts by a score of eighty nine to eighty. This is the Sixes postgame show here on the Sixes Radio Network. I'm Divine Gives with you for the postgame coverage and joining us right now before we get into everything else, we want to reconnect with Tom again is again live
at the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. After this big win for the Philadelphia seventy six is Tom, no jj Reddick, no Kyrie Irving. But the Sixes again held on to the lead late and finally come away with a good victory here. No, and again it wasn't textbook perfect you certainly I thought the Sixers turned the ball over just
way too much down the stretch. But in the end, like I said, they're gonna when you look back at the end of the season, whether the victory totals forty two, forty five, thirty nine, whatever it ends up being, this is just a nice win on the road against Boston. I think, as Dario stipulated, just to hold in the eighty points no matter if Kyrie's in there or not. It's just very impressive. And the Sixes have played well.
I mean they've only lost twice, including once to Boston since Christmas, and they just got to keep it out. They're getting better in a lot of areas, and Beat has become virtually unstoppable. I thought he played really well, dominant at times here tonight and a nice win against the Celtics. Absolutely, and of course on a night where he finds out he makes his first All Star game time, can you just talk about the overall growth of Joel
and beads game. As you said, he's becoming unstoppable and he's learning how to play the game and learning how to pick his spots a lot more less floating on the perimeter and more on the block, and then pacing himself throughout the game. Could you just throw out there what you've seen over him as the progression goes. Of course with the on the floor time now, well, the
biggest thing is too his health. You know that he's able to play as many games as he's being able to play, and the way that he's played, you know, he's gotten progressively better. And again, like the one thing I've said, Divan is that with his I think maybe his main play is catching the ball on the wing, facing up and shooting that sixteen footer. I mean, he
shoots over the top of people. It's he really doesn't have to do a whole lot of maneuvering and go with a whole lot of different counter moves or whatever. He's got that right there. You would like to me, you would like to be able to see him at that side, to be able to catch that ball closer to the basket on the block and dictate from there. But right now, like I said, that face up shot is kind of his ground zero, and he's very good
at it. I mean, you know, I'm sure the analytics would bear out you know, what he hits from that shot, but I'll bet you it's a pretty high betch at sixty something percent. And he's just got tremendous ball skills on the catch. And I think he's handled the double team better a little bit. Again, he had a bit
of a high turnover game here today. But and then defensively tonight, I thought he controlled the glass and that's been an issue for the six years over the last few years, and that is, you know, getting a stop and then getting the rebound. And it sounds simple, but that's how you punctuate the end of a possession for the opponent, is getting that defensive rebound and then in
the lane. I mean, there was that one sequence where you know he ended up defending like Terry Rogier and then bringing the ball across and assisting on a place. So he can really hurt you in a multitude of ways. He's just a highly skilled player. But you want for him, obviously to maintain his health, get back into a one hundred percent physical fitness. He said, I think he's a little bit joking, but that he was at eighty one percent earlier. Today he's getting much closer, and with these
games spaced out, he's being able to play more. And then he said today after shooting around, he's looking at maybe the end of the month and possibly the early part of February to be able to play back to back. So that's the whole package right there, and I think the more he plays. Look, he's only played what seventy games, and these are the types of numbers he's putting up. I mean, he is as good as advertised. If he can stay out there, continue to grow, it's gonna be
an awesome thing for the Sixers. Yes, and of course with him playing possibly in the back to backs, it will be very key for the stretch with the team obviously have that one goal in mind of making the postseason. Tom TJ McConnell, we talk about it a lot. He joined six and sixty with Brian Seltzer and nine and looking at his numbers in the previous ten nine points a game, four point six assists, three and a half
rebounds in twenty six point six minutes a game. Tom, he's just really again finding his way on the floor and it's always hard to take him off. He comes up big tonight in the win when the Sixers needed scoring in a third quarter. Yeah, absolutely, not like that, but I thought he ran a quarterbacked the team really well.
And you know he's not a perfect player, but boy, he just says you say, he will not go away, and he quite frankly has been one of the sixers best players of all that a few games, including eighteen Monday, like fifteen tonight, you know he hit two threes. Those are huge as the Sixers ended up moving the ball that that one extra pass and he is wide open able to measure that shot and knocking down the three.
He's just you know, he's good defensive, very dependable, and you know, Brett Brown referred to him the other night after the game is fun. He's fun. Well that's a rare you know, you don't really hear. That's so refreshing because he plays so hard, you know, and just that's kind of he embodies how Brett Brown coaches, how Brett Brown was as a player. From what we can discern, that type of fighting spirit is great to have on your team. And it is fun to watch him play
and produce. I mean, he's always proving to himself that he belongs. Well, he now knows he belongs, and he's contributing and realizing that he can do a lot of different things out there and has been very helpful and the Sixers quite frankly, have needed him at a big way over these last couple three games. Tom one game over five hundred for this team at the midway point, a very good win tonight over the Boston Celtics, and they look to keep it going on Saturday against the
Milwaukee Bucks back here at the Center. We'll speak to you then. Thank you, Tobark, good night, talk to you soon. Good night, Tim, Tom Againnis again joining us live from the TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, as the Philadelphia seventy six is pick up the win eighty nine to eighty over the Boston Celtics minus Kyrie Irving, no JJ Reddick for the seventy sixes, but yet again they come away with to win, with the first victory over the Celtics
in four games on the season. So a good win on the road after a nice win at home against the Toronto Raptors. Again, Milwaukee Bucks come to town on Saturday. You can hear that, of course right here on the Sixers Radio Network as the Sixers continue look to continue that strong play against another tough Eastern Conference opponent. Four.
The seventy sixes tonight again off the bench, TJ McConnell with fifteen points in twenty five minutes and thirty two seconds, five eight from the floor, two of two from behind the three point line. As you just heard Tom allude two at catching them as well and just simply shooting them, not thinking. So that's obviously a growth in progress in TJ.
McConnell's game. Some nice minutes from Justin Anderson off the bench five points, one to five from the floor, But I think it spoke more to the energy that he brought in the big body, the versatility that he brings as a defender. We're not known for his scoring, so not gonna looking for that too much from Justin Anderson, but some good minutes when you're down a player with
such importance as JJ Reddick. Ben Simmons only eight points tonight, a light night, four of nine from the floor, seven rebounds, four assists for the rookie guard Dario Charge with sixteen point six or fourteen shooting, two or five from behind the three point line. Six rebounds on the evening for
Dario Scharge. Robert Covington only one to five, one or four from behind the arc, good defense, three turnovers, Unfortunately, five points for your swing man for the seventy Sixers again eighty nine eighty win over the Boston Celtics tonight at the TD Garden. The seventy Sixers again back at home Saturday against the visiting Milwaukee Bucks and Janison Tennan Coompoh on the other side, will continue this conversation about the seventy Sixers win, look more into what they did
tonight over the Boston Celtics, and later on. Here's some of the call from Tom. Again it's right here on the Sixers Radio Network. Troll my mic Sixers win eighty nine eighty to is the Sixers postgame show here on
the Sixers Radio Network. Beating the Boston Celtics tonight again eighty nine eighty behind a big game from Joel n B, the new All Star, first time All Star Joel n B twenty six points, sixteen rebounds in thirty four minutes and fifty seven seconds, ten of nineteen from the floor, four again the first time All Star, as the seventy Sixers pick up a very good win here on the evening against the Atlantic Division foes where you look at them and they've had trouble with them throughout the season,
but right now again the Sixers winning two in a row, having beat the Toronto Raptors now sitting second in the Eastern Conference and the first team in the Eastern Conference, to Boston Celtics back to back Monday and tonight here
again at the TD Garden. So a solid win all around, the visiting Milwaukee Bucks, who right now have a half game lead over the Philadelphia seventy Sixers, will visit the Center on Saturday, and again just looking at what the game gave to you tonight based on how things played out. The seventy Sixers got up to a big lead, they had a big advantage, twenty one point lead, and they let the Celtics back in. This is what you get when you play the best team in the Eastern Conference,
albeit without their best player in Kyrie Irving. They're going to make a run and they did, and it was up to the Philadelphia seventy six is to find a way to hold them off, and they did just that, getting as close as seven points in the fourth quarter. But the six has made enough, the defensive stops made enough plays, hit their free throws down the stretch to
allow them to come away with this victory. Again at eighty nine eighty at the visiting Boston Celtics Arena for also off the bench, Amir Johnson gave them four points, two rebounds in twelve minutes and thirty three seconds, so just giving them solid minutes tonight. Trevor Booker, also off the bench, gave them six points contribute to six points, two boards, three or three from the floor. Again not known for his offense, but when called upon, always ready
for the veteran Trevor Booker solid night there. The turnovers are something that Tom mcguinnis mentioned during our connection in the first segment. Twenty five turnovers for the Philadelphia seventy six is again something that they really have to get under control if they want to down the stretch. This is the midway point of the season, forty one games and twenty one twenty record, Sitting in the eighth place right now in the Eastern Conference playoff standings, you have
to be better with the basketball protecting it. Twenty five turnovers four the seventy sixers, contributing to twenty four points for the Boston Celtics, so they have to get that under control. The Celtics did also hand over quite a few nineteen turns over for the night for the Celtics fifteen points to seventy Sixers were able to manage off of those turnovers and just the solid, solid work all night. Points in the paint, the seventy sixers had the advantage there.
Forty six for the seventy six Ers Celtics twenty eight second chance points and nice night for the Sixers twelve to five, the advantage to the Philadelphia seventy Sixers outrebounding the Boston Celtics thirty three to twenty eight. A low scoring defensive affair tonight for these two teams, the seventy Sixers and the Celtics both shooting under fifty percent forty six for the Sixers, forty percent for the Boston Celtics.
The Sixers from behind the ark six of seventeen for thirty five percent seven of twenty nine for the Boston Celtics, obviously not one of their better shooting nights from the perimeter only twenty four percent. Sixers and Celtics both getting to the free throw line seventeen a fifteen of seventeen for the Sixers and the Boston Celtics converting thirteen on the evening evening twenty two assists for the Sixers on thirty four makes We're very used to and accustomed to.
The seventy six is sharing the ball, getting their baskets, no selfish play, So good stat there for the Sixes, and I apologize in the rebounding it was forty one to thirty one to ten rebound advantage for the visiting seventy Sixers over the Boston Celtics. On the other side, will hear from the man who called the game, Tom mcguinness's game calls, where we get the highlights, some good stuff here, So make sure you guys tune in Sixers
postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. Sixes come away with the win tonight in Boston eighty nine to eighty over the Eastern Conference leading Boston Celtics. I'm Divine givens. This is the Sixers post game Show and right now we get to the highlights where the seventy Sixes again come away with the win, a solid one. And it really starts off where the newly announced first time All Star joellenbad Helps gets the Sixers going early. They chop it away from Joel, no foul it beat back and
down on Bains I'd off for the lay back. He fakes one way Shibby shoots and scores. They have the Sixers down by four, eight to four. Nice play by Joel and be going through contact and shooting it from the right elbow, getting it going early for the All Star again eight to four. Right there. Trevior Booker made three baskets in a row for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers to tide things at fourteen fourteen. At the end of the quarter, Justin Anderson made it three to make it
twenty one nineteen. The final basket in the frame for the Philadelphia seventy six is in the second quarter. Dario charts again on the evening sixteen point six to fourteen from the floor, solid defensive l always an all around good game. Here one of his two three pointers on the night playlist upside Dario scharge for three. Fuck it good, Dario scharge knocking down a high arcing three, and that's
key for sharge shutters outside shots. Sometimes line drives that time though well in the year much agreed to Tom again it's there. If he gets the shots and gets some good arc on those shots, he obviously has better chance of making him. And that's what we're seeing as of late from Dario scharge at the end of two thirty nine. Thirty two is to score at the half with the Philadelphia seventy Sixers with the advantage coming out
of the third quarter. Again, it's all about holding on to the leads and that's what the Sixers we're trying to do their biggest quarter of the evening as the Philadelphia seventy sixes again got big, big time contributions from t J McConnell off the bench, and the Sixers get it back and Joel has it in the quarter two
minutes ago, Sixers by fourteen. It beat against Pains one on one, backing turns room passes to t J. And McConnell shoots it from our front had rattles in the t J. McConnell and Joel would be a potent combination for the Sixers. T J McConnell with nine points, didn't
score into the third quarter. Nine points in the third quarter to help again with the Philadelphia seventy sixes with the biggest quarter thirty two to twenty one quarter for the team, and even after three, the Philadelphia seventy Sixes again had it at a nice, nice pace seventy one to fifty three after three, up eighteen. All you have to do now is hold on to the lead in
the fourth quarter, something that they've had trouble doing. But as they do that, of course, as we know, TJ McConnell again once again very tough, comes out and get the three again in the start of the fourth quarter, making it seventy eight to fifty nine, and then Ben Simmons. Light scoring night on the evening for Ben, but a very very good lay up here in the fourth quarter bed Don loo on Rford fakes, comes back and fakes
again eder for with us back to the basket. Tommy defedhim and Simmons patiently down low, faking the reverse, twisting back the other way and laying it up left handed. A sixteen point six ers leave eighty four sixty eight seventy six is Ben Simmons also had a very nice spin move along the sideline towards the baseline get the layup to go. Very nice move from the rookie point guard. But the of course, when you're playing the best team in the Eastern Conference, they're not going to go away.
Jalen Brown for the Boston Celtics with the big three to make it eighty six seventy six, and then rookie Jason Tatum, still making noise out there, converged from the corner. Tatum with a dribble hand off the Brown, Brown hit a three A moment ago back to Tatum in the corner for three and that's good. The Celtics have hit another three. Jason Tatum makes it eighty six seventy nine and the crowd is absolutely beside itself. Eleven points for Tatum on the night. That was his only three pointer
from behind. The Arcy finished again the evening with the eleven point on the night for Jason Tatum. No Kyrie Irving for the Boston Celtics. Al Horford and Marcus Mars led the team with fourteen points on the night. Marcus Smart thirteen for the Celtics in place of Kyrie Irving. Jalen Brown quiet as well, four of twelve from the field for twelve points. But when you have to put up twelve for the twelve points, it seems like a good night. The same for Jason Tatum eleven shots for
eleven points for the young Celtics. Coming back again on Saturday, the Philadelphia seventy six is will host Johannison Tenna Coompo and the Milwaukee Bucks. Earlier in the evening, Johannison Tenna Coompo is announced as an All Star, started his second
straight year of making the All Star team. Also a team eight of Joe olyn Bid, the first time All Star contributions for him again a big night four and Bid twenty six point sixteen rebounds, four the big Man ten of nineteen from the floor and close to thirty five minutes of play, six assists also for Jewel and b four personal fouls. But the turnover is still something that's plagued in him that he will have to find
his way throughout his career of getting better at. But they did come away with the victory tonight, eighty nine to eighty over The Boston Celtics improve in the air record to twenty one and twenty on the season, now sitting in eighth place in the Eastern Conference and the only one team right above them at half a game in front the Milwaukee Bucks here at the Center on Saturday,
