Welcome into the seventy sixers scoop. Instant reaction to the seventy six ers one twenty two ninety four win over the Atlanta Hawks at the Center. I'm Matt Murphy along with Lauren Rosen, and it was a good win for the seventy Sixers. They were up fourteen at the half. They extended things in the second half at home. Six players scored in double figures. What were your initial takeaways
or what are they from this game? Well, we've talked a lot this season, in the early phases of this season about creating separation and then maintaining separation, and tonight the Sixers were able to accomplish that goal. This is their steepest margin of victory yet. Six Sixers finishing in double figures. Let's run through them to Bias. Harris led the pack with twenty two points, eleven rebounds and four assists.
Joel Embid nineteen points, five rebounds, two assists, one block, Seth Curry fifteen points, one assist, Tyree's Maxi sixteen points, three assists, one in one steal, Shake Milton eleven points, four rebounds, two assists, and Matisse Thyble the season high eleven points, three rebounds, two assists, three blocks, and four steals. Great night from Matise, another solid night from the bench.
Tobias Harris led the way. Doc Rivers talked about how well Tobias is able to perform when he plays decisively. He called that first step action lethal. Tobias agreed that he was in a more decisive mode tonight and wants to continue carrying that through throughout. Yeah. To me, I think Tobias Matise Joel not having to work quite as hard as he does sometimes also a nice thing to see in what ended up being a pretty lopsided victory
four year seventy sixers. Right to the point about Joel Embiid still got to the line of ton eight of nine. A lot of that was in the first half, and he came in with almost forty makes at the line, tied for first in the league in the high thirties coming in, but they got contribution and all around lightning the load of Joel Embiid. The second double double of the season for Tobias Harris, and it was a good win all around. The defense forced nineteen turnovers from the Hawks,
who came in averaging just twelve a game. Which was the second best mark in the NBA. So I think that statistic right there shows you how on the Sixers were on both ends of the floor tonight. Yeah, a lot to like about this victory. The team shot fifty three point five percent from the field and ninety four point seven percent from the line. The last time we did this, sorry to cut you off, they only missed one or two free throws in the win over Detroit.
They only miss one out of those nineteen tonight. Unbelievable. Yeah, the Sixers quickly becoming one of the best free throw shooting teams in this league. Sixty points in the paint versus Atlanta's thirty six points in the paint. The Sixers led by as many as thirty three in this one. Thirty four fast break points Atlanta only fourteen fast break points. A lot to like about this Sixers game, if we're
being objective reporters. The one number that's pretty ugly twenty offensive rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks tonight in this game. When I saw that, I literally said, this is not a misprint on the stat sheet. Twenty offensive rebounds led to nineteen second chance points. But we knew coming in that Atlanta was a very good rebounding team led by Clint Capella and John Collins, who had twelve and seven boards, respectively. But the Sixers took care business halfway through this homestand
two more. They've got Portland up next, which should be a fun game on Monday night. And of course we should also talk about Trey Young just thirteen points ten assists, which is a very impressive figure leading the field tonight, but only shot five for sixteen from the field. Tyrese Maxie did a good job defensively on Trey Young. That was a tough assignment. In postgame, Tyree said that the way that he prepped for that assignment was to just, you know, try to do what Matista does on defense.
I loved that little line from Tyrese Maxie. The two of them have learned from one another, so be on the lookout for clips from their media availability. It was quite the wholesome content that Sixers fans love. Matt what are you looking forward to when the Sixers face the Blazers on Monday and the Bulls on Wednesday. Trey Young's had an up and down start for Atlanta. Damian Lillards had a little bit of a slow start for the Portland Trailblazers, but always an exciting visitor in the sense
that Lillard and CJ. McCollum form one of the best duos in the NBA, and they're an explosive offensive team with that backcourt. So I think the Sixers gonna look to keep it rolling if they learned anything from Maxie's effort on defense and Thible off the bench and containing Trey Young tonight, you've got more guards to defend, and Trey Young has been frustrated with some of the officiating so far in the first few games and how things
are being called this year. I think Damian Lillard might fall into that vote a little bit as well, because his scoring average is below twenty points in the first few games of the season and just about nineteen, so kind of feels like he's in the same realm as Trey Young right now with how things currently stand with them come but then an exciting Bulls team after that too. The next two at home, interesting opponents looking forward to
the road ahead. The Sixers rise to four and two on the Young season at one twenty two to ninety four victory at the Center. We will be back with you on Monday night. Matt Murphy, congratulations on your first NBA broadcast, killing it on the radio. It was awesome to hear you. Looking forward to hearing you again down the road. Thanks as always for joining me. Thank you guys for listening to the seventy six ers. Scoop. We will talk to you next time.
