This podcast is part of the seventy six Ers podcast Network search seventy six Ers Insiders wherever you get your podcasts. Here we go. Welcome into Sixers Twitter Spaces. I'm Matt Murphy, joined as always by Lauren Rosen. Thanks for being with us. If you're a regular, you know the drill. We take your questions and they drive the conversation. We will break down the win for the Sixers over the Brooklyn Nets this edition of Twitter Spaces. If you're listening on time,

the game was last night. We do post these as podcasts, which is why I say that on the seventy Sixers podcast Network. But the Thursday night win over the Brooklyn Nets one one, two, three straight road wins, a three game winning streak all on the road for the Philadelphia seventy Sixers, and an exclamation point to the trip. Lauren with the win over Brooklyn. Yes, good morning, good morning, good morning. Last one for the year twenty twenty one.

I don't know about you, guys, but I'm very okay with turning the page and hopeful about what's coming in twenty twenty two. The Sixers, of course, moving on to the new year with a perfect road trip into so very excited to see what the guys were able to do while in Washington, Toronto, and most importantly perhaps Brooklyn last night quite the victory. Without further ado, let's look back at last night's win and some notables from the

stat sheet. Like Matt said, if you have questions though, while I read you guys some awesome statistics from last night, please send them to me. You can click on my icon send me a dm. Dms are always open during Twitter spaces. Matt Murphy, you can send him to him. You can send him to the Sixers and we will

get straight into your questions momentarily. So the Sixers last night headed to Brooklyn looking for their third straight, looking to cap a perfect road trip, get word that Doc Rivers enters health and safety protocols earlier in the day. Assistant coach Dan Burke steps up to run the group, and Dan Burke had coached as a head coach a couple times during his long tenure in Indiana, but he was yet to win as a head coach, and last night the Sixers delivered their man, Dan Burke, quite a victory.

Joel Ebie leads away thirty four points. Joel Embie leads away thirty four points, seven rebounds and assist, three steals and a block. Tyrese Maxie twenty five points, seven rebounds, for assists, and Tyrese hits a career high five threes. He was five for eight from deep, ten for eighteen from the field. Seth Curry seventeen points, six assists, three rebounds. Andre Drummond returns from health and safety protocols and finishes with a ten point ten rebound double double. Five of

those ten rebounds come on the offensive glass. George Yang another awesome performance off the bench, nine points for rebounds and a couple huge threes late, as did Tyrese Maxie have a couple of huge threes in that second half and fourth quarter that kept the Sixers hanging around, beating the best in the East Brooklyn Nets on the road and taking quite the victory into the new year. Matt, what was your favorite moment from last night's game? I wanted to make that the question of the day, so

thanks for teeing it up. It seems general, but there were so many moments that I think you could pick in the win over Brooklyn for the Sixers as your favorite moment, So message me or Lauren if you want and let us know or tweet us your favorite moment and we'll shout some of those out. I think there's a few different contenders. It could be Joel's and one at the end to really seal the deal and start the celebration, or any of his other end ones. It

feels like he had a million in the game. It could be any which of Tyrese Maxie's clutch shots, what else? Dan Burke the celebration for his first win would be a good candidate. The defense forcing eighteen turnovers. I'm just spitballing here. Everyone else is going to have to think about some other options. I will select. I'm gonna go with Tyrese Maxie's play down the stretch. Look, Joel Embiid

was great on the radio. I did give him our Player of the Game afterwards because in a game with so many great players, he comes away with a game high scoring total of thirty four points. I mean, Harden and Durant had thirty three each, but Joel was dominant. They would throw him the ball, they would clear out, he would really bully his way underneath and score and

draw fouls and finish and had that bucket. That was so energizing to make it one, one, o two with a free throw and then at the end and that really started the celebration. Like I said, but I'm gonna go with Tyrese Maxi, the twenty one year old down the stretch and his three point shooting in the game. He stepped in and hit a huge shot as well to extend the lead to eight in the final minute. I'm gonna go with Tyrese's clutch play. What about you, well,

he took the words right out of my mouth. I want to just go ahead and reiterate what Tyrese had to say following the game. He talked to Tom McGinnis and Mark Jackson immediately following the game in if you haven't been plugged in on Twitter, which I think if you're in Twitter spaces you have been. But Joel gave Tyrese a little bit of flak for his performance in Toronto.

Of course, Tyrese still managed to get it done and helped the team to victory in Toronto, but Tyrise gave him a little bit of grief for not shooting quite as well from the field as he usually does. So Tyrese immediately addresses Joel's comments from the previous game. Following the win last night in Brooklyn, Tyrese says, last game, Joel told me I was trash. I told him, by God him this game. So I just went out there

and tried my hardest for my teammates. The chemistry that those two are developing encourt off court, the big brother little brother relationship that we've seen as the two of them continue to choose to do media together over the last few games, I think has been really tremendous to watch a really excited signed for two players. I Mean, we talk about Tyrese Maxie's youth at twenty one years old, but Joel Embe it's still a very young man with

some of his best years ahead of him. So looking forward to watching the two of them continue to develop their chemistry. But if I can't use Tyrese as my favorite moment, I think I'm gonna have to go with Dan Burke's locker room celebration following his first win as a head coach. If you haven't already seen it, make sure you go to the Sixers the six Ers Twitter page.

Our very own, very talented Nick McCain was in the locker room shooting the moment when the players were able to embrace dan Burke for his first win as he stepped in for Doc Rivers in a high pressure situation, and certainly did the head coach perroud. It was awesome to watch the guys embrace one another and embrace Dan Burke, who, by the way, is one of the kindest, most thoughtful humans in this league. I've really enjoyed getting to know Dan Burke is sort of a peripheral member of the staff.

He's just a wonderful person and so exciting to see good things happen to good people. So I think I'm gonna have to go with that one. If you haven't watched it yet, if you want to close your twenty twenty one with some wholesome content, make sure you check out that page. It's on the Sixers Instagram, It's on the Sixers Twitter. I've retweeted it. Nick McCain, who captured

the moment, has retweeted it. So make sure you're following all those people and checking out that video because it was a really wholesome one in a great way to end the year. Matt, I'm having some questions roll in. I don't know if you are, if you have anything to add about Dan Burke, But if not, I think we can shove into questions question some question of the day responses and you can keep telling us what you enjoyed the most from the Sixers Nets game in Brooklyn.

One that we didn't really touch on is after the final buzzer sounded, Joelmbid kind of returning the favor to Kevin Durant and it started like a wave or back to the Chicago Bulls game when Joel waved to the crowd. This was a little different. This was two weeks ago. Kevin Durant kind of sent the Sixers off the court, wave them off the court, rather than Joel waving to the crowd. He kind of sent Kevin Durant and the Nets off their home court, which was and I say

kind of. He did wave them off their home court, and then there was a scene with the thumbs up. It was all really exciting and fun to watch. That is a good pick by New Wave, who sent me a message saying, Joejoe waving KD off the court. This was in Brooklyn and this all went down after the game. Yeah, I loves to see, I mean. And then love to. Of course hear Kevin Durant afterwards and weel and did you talk about the mutual respect that the two of

them have. What a pleasure it's been to watch the two of them go back and forth in these two most recent games at Brooklyn. Of course, Kevin Durant proved to be the closer in the first one, and a Bed proved to get the better of mister Durant in the second one. So really cool to see two of

the game's greatest right now going head to head. Looking forward to the fourth and final matchup between these two teams and maybe hopefully fingers crossed another playoff series with the Nets, but the new look Nets, because they're a fun team and the Sixers have proven that they're able to get up against some of the best teams in this league. Bill Hayter's favorite moment from last night's game and Bead feeding the ball to Maxie, who hit a three,

was my favorite moment. He knew Maxie was hot and he opted to feed him the ball. Chef kiss Emoti, I agree, that's a trust, that chemistry that we've talked about. Joel finding Tyrese, Tyrese finding Joel, the two of them holding each other accountable on the court, off the court, building that chemistry on and off the floor. It's going to be a theme that we continue to talk about as Tyrese Maxie continues to grow into the player that he's become, and as Joel and Bead continues to grow

into the leader that he's become. Really cool to see the two of them finding one another. Bill Hayter, I agree with you. Those corner threes from Tyrese down the stretch really exciting to see him add that to his game and do it so confidently because it's going to help the Sixers. Is going to pay dividends as the season continues and as the team gets down the stretch and into the playoffs. Matt Murphy, any other moments you want to shout out or should we move on to

other questions? I have one right now. Mary's favorite moment was the maximbiad celebratory chess bump, and that was captured, like you said on the if you go to the art at Sixers Twitter account, Nick McCain, and the final play of the ambid and one, it's a really good

angle for the that Maxie Mbad chess bump. Mary also said loved the locker room celebration with coach Dan Burke, and on the TV call, Tom McGinnis said that coaches never forget and pregame, dan Burke was asked if he had served as a head coach before, and he had in Indiana twice in his twenty two years there, and he kind of revealed, unprompted, that the games were against Golden State and at Charlotte and that he lost both of them. He was like, are you going to ask

me what my record was? And he then just told everyone. So for him to get his first win and for the players to be so happy for him was awesome. I have so many more questions that I want to start diving into, so let's go to yo An. Yo An says, what are your thoughts on Drummond's work last night? Strong minutes considering the fact he just came back from health and safety protocols. Matt Murphy, what did you make

of Andre's return to the court last night? Launching that ten point, ten rebound double double, five offensive boards and a lot of energy. Drummond was huge and Embiid had sixteen points in the first quarter, So he comes out of the game and you're like, is there going to be any sort of drop off, and not saying that I anticipated that, but Andre Drummond a lot of his strong work came early in the game off the bench,

so that was a huge lift. The Sixers, of course, started embiid with Harris Thible, Curry and Maxie and the bench players who played last night were Drummond with ten points, Niang with nine, Shake and fur Con played eleven in eighteen minutes, respectively. They did not score, but Drummond's ten and ten were huge, and m bead for every end

one he had. Drummond had a couple as well. Just rim running, running the floor in general is something Dan Burke touched on after the game, getting back on defense. Big presence then and there was no sort of drop off, and Drummond came right in and coming off and Beads hot start. You needed Drummond to start well off the bench,

and he did. Yeah. The Drummond Blake Griffin matchup not something that if you told me a few years ago that I'd watched the two of them facing off on the six Ers and the nets, respectively, I don't know if I would have believed you, But it was a pleasure to watch two of the greats really go at

each other. And I really thought that Andre looked fresh, he looked sharp, he looked really excited to be back, of course, coming off of about two weeks away due to health and safety protocols, Andre's last game was actually at the Nets on December sixteenth. He returns on December thirtieth and does truly a great job back up Joel Embiad, which is something that he has a challenge that he's taken on and shown some really good stuff all season long.

Let's get into a few more cool questions. This one's not a question, it's a comment, but Tony says, as it relates to Joel Embiid, you're seeing a more versatile Wilt. I've loved, loved, loves seeing the praise that Joel Embiid

has gotten recently. He perhaps gets lost a little bit in MVP talks sometimes, and whether that's because of injury or because of his time this season a way due to health and safety protocol I believe that Joel is pretty sufficiently overlooked when it comes to the MVP conversation. But his last six games have been truly tremendous. I'm not going to read through his entire stats from the last few games, but I'll give a couple highlight performances.

In his last three games, He's had thirty four, thirty six, thirty six, twenty three, forty one, and thirty two points. But in all of those games, he said steals, he said blocks. He's getting it done on both ends of the floor. It's been really tremendous to watch Joel embead in his prime and to watch him having a little bit more fun out there and celebrating big, big victories. I'm thinking of the Atlanta victory. I'm thinking of the

victory last night. Watching Joel Embiid be really excited about what his team is doing to meet is extremely heartening. Because Joel has said over the years that he's playing his best basketball when he's having fun. He looks certainly like he's having fun. Somebody wants to talk Seth Curry as well. Sam the Sixers fan thought Seth Curry was beyond valuable in the win last night, mainly to Joel Embiid.

Joel had twenty two points heading into half, and both Tobias Harris and Seth Curry to that point had combined for just eight points. One of those two had to take some of the load, but Curry thrived in the pick and roll in two man game with Joel Embiid. Not to mention, dan Burke had him running the point for a moment in time. Obviously his shots were huge, But to kick off the road trip, Curry had nine assists in DC, five in Toronto and now six along

with seventeen points last night. What have you seen out of the role he's adopted over this road trip. I think Seth Curry is a good place to go. Lauren, What did you see from Seth? I think the assists that Sam the Sixers fan mentions are notable as well, But coming out of the locker room with a couple of made shots to get going, I agree that it was a slow first half for Seth and came right out of the locker room and found his shot. Yep. Seth had four points in the first half, but seventeen

points overall. And we've given a lot of credit, a lot of well earned credit to Dan Burke. But something else we should give Hi credit for is a continuity that he's brought compared to how Doctor Reverts has been running this team all season long. Doc talked about wanting to use Seth Moore in a point guard role, in a facilitator role, and we saw that continuity last night as Dan Burke put the ball in Seth's hands for a lot of that second half. Really enjoyed the way

that Seth good shooters keep shooting. We say it all the time, and Seth certainly up that descriptor tag certainly applies to Seth Curry. Awesome to see his confidence growing. Seeing a lot a lot of comments. I mean, so guys, when you guys all send the same comments, I'm never picking favorites. I'm just trying to read everything in an efficient way. So I'm seeing a lot of messages about Tyres,

Maxie and Joel Embiad as a duo. It's something that we've talked about already today, but something that I think deserves a little bit more shine. Drew says, Maxie and Joe, is this the new super duo? It could be. They're both so young, they're both so talented. They're both continuing to add to their games. Tyrese perhaps on a bigger trajectory compared to what we saw last season, even what we saw from Tyrese at the beginning of this season, he's a sponge, he's soaking it up. He's adding to

his game on a game by game basis. And Joel Ebead on the other hand, already an MVP caliber candidate MVP caliber player, continues to add to his game every offseason. It's something he prides himself on, but really refining his skills, finishing in traffic, making sure he's passing out of doubles. Last night we saw a lot of one on one coverage against Joel Risky by Venettes and Joel of course taking full advantage. So the two of them together, the

ceiling is really really high. The two of them were catching a little bit of heat a few games ago about where their chemistry was or how well they could play together. Of course, some stats will always tell you what you want to hear, and then those that didn't think that they were going to play well together, we're finding the stats that they wanted to support that claim. And my take at that point was that these guys

needed more time together. Tyres of course played great when Joel was out, but Joel was out for a long time, and when he comes back into the lineup. Tyrese then misses a few games with that left quad contusion. So now to see the two of them having quality minutes in quality matchups together figuring it out, clearly developing chemistry off the court as well, it's been a pleasure to watch. I'm so excited about what's to come for those two.

So the new super duo. I don't know if that's necessarily fair quite yet considering how young this partnership is, but certainly potential to be a super duo in this league. Matt, what have you liked about the two man game that the two of them are developing, maybe the off court chemistry. What have you seen out of tyres and Joel together press conference Gold For one, it's been fun to see that.

You kind of talked about it already. I touched on Tyrese's clutch play and Joel with the double teams the game before Toronto. It's like he catches the ball and Malachi Flynn is sprinting down every single time and against the nets, Joel catches it and most of the time, like you said, he picks his eyes up and there's not two players there sometimes and it's at that point where he either takes the jumper or jab steps or

really just pulleys his way down low and scores. And last night he had a little bit more room to operate when they would kind of clear out on one side of the floor. Again here on Twitter spaces, send us your questions or thoughts about the game. A lot of people have been submitting their favorite moment from the one ten, one h two win by the Sixers over the nets. To complete the three and O road trip. You can do that. You can send us a new question, click on our icons at the top, send us a

d tweet reply to the Sixers tweet. We'll look through those as well. Got a message from PS saying Niang huge night. We can talk about George Niang as well, because then Gina says, not directly related to last night unless you count reactions. But it's been so great to see Niang and Drummond and the new guys embracing the fans and the city. Like one hundred and fifty percent and I one hundred and fifty percent agree with that.

It's been fun to watch. Niang had a more than a couple big shots, big threes last night in the wind he sure did. It's been awesome to see George come back. He also missed almost two weeks due to health and safety protocols, come back in with a nineteen point performance at Toronto with a with a nineteen point performance at Toronto, with an nine point four rebound performance

at Brooklyn. Shooting the ball really confidently and making sure that even when he misses, he's not afraid to continue shooting. And that's something that he's talked about quite a bit. It's how he's going to make an impact on this team. He's a player that really knows his role, and his role, of course, is to make threes, but like you said, it's also to bring a lot of energy, and he certainly brings that in dividends every time he gets out there on the court. I don't think I've seen anyone

talk as much trash as George Niang does. He's so much fun to watch. I'm very curious about what he was saying to the Brooklyn bench. He made a couple of he made a couple of threes and turned around to have some words with folks on the Brooklyn bench.

And if I could have had a micd up moment there, I would have loved to hear it because George, of course, everything he says is he's such a kindhearted individual, but he is not afraid to talk a little bit of trash, and he's really funny and really biting the way that he makes everything a little bit personal. So I've loved, loved, loved watching his teammates as well, sort of react to

the way that George reacts to the people. He definitely rises the tide when it comes to not spiciness, but bringing a little extra edge, a little extra fire to the court. This, of course a team that really enjoys one another, and they certainly have been enjoying George Niang and missed him while he was away. I think you'll have to ask him on the Big Niang theory with

George Niang and Lauren Rosen. Maybe he doesn't say every word that gets mentioned during those encounters, but if there are some games where he is particularly feisty, you might have to ask what the general theme of the messaging was to the opponent. And I am happy to let you know that we have talked about it and we have another episode coming out in the next couple of days. I appreciate everybody that always messages me during spaces about the Big Niang Theory. I have heard you guys clamoring

for episode two. Episode two is almost ready and it's going to come out in the next couple of days. So a New Year's gift from myself and George to you guys episode two of the Big Niang Theory. We're going to cover a lot of things. It's one of your favorites, Sixers. It's someone we've already talked about quite

a bit in this conversation. Matt. I don't know if I'm ready to reveal exactly who the guest was, but all I can say is that the people in this Twitter spaces, if you're happy about last night's win, you're going to be happy about the guests for episode two. It was a really cool conversation, and as we've already discussed, George a very talented podcasts or talented player and such

a fun addition to this Sixers. This is no shot at any other shows or podcasts, but the next episode of The Big Niang Theory will probably be the only non best of twenty one New Year's podcast episode, so it will really stand out in the feeds because everyone's just like, let me cobble together parts of five different interviews and put those out, which is fine if they're good interviews especially, but if it's some fresh, extended conversation

between Sixers and you driving the conversation that will go to the top of my list to listen to. No, this content is pure. It's one I've been excited to release for a really long time. If you're listening to us on spaces right now and you're not already following the Big Niang theory wherever you get your podcasts, please do that. It would mean the world to me if you guys would subscribe or follow again wherever you get your podcast. Please please please also give me your feedback.

Let us know if you now it's a totally fine time comment on the Sixers tweet, send me a DM who do you want to see as the next guest. Episode one, of course featured for concork Mouse. That's in the feeds now if you haven't listened to it yet. Episode two is going to feature one of your favorite Sixers, as will episode three two highly requested individuals. But please please please send me your requests of your feedback. It's a project I'm really passionate about and I've loved seeing

you guys react to it. Anyway, we can move on, Nat Murphy, what else do you have in your inbox? I do think we should make the New year a little bit of a topic. Maybe we wait a few minutes if you want to send us your New Year's resolution. Maybe it's some sort of Sixers resolution, I don't know. Feel free by messaging us or tweeting to us or the Sixers. We can talk a little bit about non

basketball resolutions as well towards the end. But when it comes to basketball and twenty twenty one winding down, I'm intrigued, not only by last night, in what your favorite moment or play was. If you're listening out there, Lauren, you two here favorite plays that have happened so far this season.

As the twenty twenty one portion of the twenty one twenty two season comes to a close, they finished their twenty twenty one with the big win in Brooklyn, There's so many plays that you could point to as your favorite play of the twenty twenty one part of the schedule. I'll name a couple and then we can brainstorm in real time here and message us what you think, But the Joel shot against the Celtics, what else do we got? Maybe you're going to go off the board with Paul

Reid blocking Jannis. That's a wild card pick Andre Drummond's tip in. I'm a little bit biased because I was filling in for Tom McGinnis on the radio that night. They did come up short to the Timberwolves in double overtime, but when Maxi had one of the best missed free throws intentionally miss free throws that I've ever seen, and

Drummond forced a second overtime with a tip in. Those are just a few, but we can talk about favorite plays of the part of this part of the season so far as twenty twenty one comes to a close, I can go ahead and jump in with mine, Matt. I know it's probably a pretty vanilla answer, but I gotta go with Joel and Beat's big shot down the stretch in Boston. Who was so special to watch him really take the reins of a game like that. The Sixers go on to win one O eight to one

h three. This was on December twentieth, so maybe a little bit of recency bias there, but to me, one of Joel's best performances in his career. He finishes with forty one points, ten rebounds, and a heck of a line beyond that. And then I'm gonna go with another sort of off the beat not necessarily off the beaten path,

but a performance rather than a play. I'm going to shout out Matisse Bible's defensive masterpiece against Golden State on December eleventh, truly slowing down not even one of the great one of the greatest players of all time, but the greatest shooter now of all time, Steph Curry. Matisse Bible puts together a defensive masterpiece, blocking two of Steph's shots, something that no player has ever done in the same game before, and putting together one of his best performances,

if not the best performance of his career. So for me, Joel down the stretch in the fourth quarter at Boston, Matisse all game at home versus Golden State. Those are my two standout moments and performances thus far this season. And just a quick thing, guys, we are having a little bit of a connection issue. If anyone has connection issues or if we drop out, we'll hop right back into this space. So if you lose us, just rejoin

us immediately. We'll be right back with you. And now that I've says that, hey, it's Joe Conklin, joined me for Conklin's Comedy Night in Parks Casino, the number one casino in Pennsylvania and the official local casino partner of You Are Philadelphia seventy six Ers. Tune into seventy six

Ers games for special Parks Casino offers for fans. Visit Parks Casino dot com for tickets. Must be the twenty one or old Gampy topical Gambler. Welcome back, everybody cut off. As I was assuming that we might get cut off, We're gonna let everybody trickle back in. Matt's gonna join us once again.

Twitter spaces still a relatively relatively new medium, and it's okay, I'm sorry guys. Technical difficulties always a thing. What we don't have on Twitter spaces as commercials, So maybe just consider that a little baby commercial break and thank you guys as always for joining us in coming back. We're going to continue with our questions. I think most of you guys that were in here before are already back,

so we appreciate you bearing with us. I think all we were talking about when we got cut off is the possibility of getting cut off. So let's pivot, Matt, you have not yet given me your favorite performance or moment of this season. Well, I did give a few options, but I didn't pick one. You had to choose. Yeah, no, I will. We got some help during the commercial break.

Some extra options came in. Gina says the DeMar derozen blocked by mbiad the block by mbiad on de Rosen, and one or maybe one other person said that as well. Seth Curry had a big shot in that home win over the Chicago Bulls, and another option from Luke favorite moment even though we lost Maxie's game at home versus the Raptors, when he took over in the fourth and played extremely well. I have a theory about Maxi in the City edition Jerseys. I want to figure out his

scoring average by uniform. That sounds like something that you should spend your New Year's Eve doing that, and to Luke's point, he went off in the City edition spectrum

themed jerseys against the Raptors. I think he averages like more than twenty five points per game in the City editions, but I will and then even if you count last year City edition, he had that big game shorthanded against the Nuggets in last year City edition jersey must be pretty high when it comes to City Edition themed uniforms.

But Tyrese Maxie big night last night, as we continue to talk about the Sixers taking down the Brooklyn Nets in Brooklyn, he finished with twenty five points and those

five threes. But my moment, we were talking before the break about favorite moments, favorite plays of the of the year, or mainly the twenty twenty one portion of this season, and I'm going to go with Gina's suggestion as the Mbid block in the Bulls game against Damar Derozen because a great photo came out of that one as well from Alex Subers of Mbied blocking Derozen at the center.

I love it. I'm ready to pivot to a couple other random questions that we're having this also, by the way, guys, is the part of the conversation where you're welcome to start sending non Sixers questions. Tell us about your lives, tell us what's going on, tell us how you're feeling about the Sixers, of course, but maybe the broader NBA, maybe the sports landscape, the world's landscape. This is a safe environment. We want to talk about anything that you

guys want to talk about. So if you're continuing to be interested in what we have to say, ask us any questions about anything. At this point. Of course, the Sixers the topic that I'm the most qualified to discuss, but I'm willing to talk about anything. Love doing this with you guys. Thank you for all the questions. I know I've missed some, but I'm trying to get to

all of them. Which leads us to Sam the Sixers fan, what are your thoughts on the twenty twenty two l photo of Andre Drummond but the Sixers Twitter and Instagram posted. As Mark Jackson said on the call, we want all the smoke. I feel like this photo truly describes our emotions from the win last night. Sam the sixerspan, I

completely agree with you. Shout out to our wonderful social team, Julie and Becca who have been on the sticks every night this season, absolutely crushing the game and making us laugh and smiling the process. Andre reposted that photo. He obviously enjoyed it as well, no harm in having a little bit of fun and loved seeing everybody sort of rally around all the different parts of last night's victory. Loved hearing Mark Jackson over these last couple of games.

Of course, filling in for Allah Abdulnabi, who we are hoping is feeling better. Kate Scott also out right now. Tom McGinnis filled in for her than Matt Murphy filled in for Tom McGinnis. So the next man up mentality doesn't just apply to the seventy sixers. It applies to the broadcast crews. Everybody who stepped up has done an amazing job. Yourself included Matt Murphy's a shout out to you.

We're always staying ready to step in and get on the call and sending all of our love to Kate to Allah as they continue to hopefully feel better, and we hope to get everybody back as soon as possible. Matt, do you want to tell us what it was like to have the call last night started? A little bit.

There were a little bit a few rocky moments in there, but down the stretch must have been an absolutely awesome one for you to call sure, thank you and the L photo or Andre Drummond holding the L for Brooklyn. Shout out again to Julie Becca, our whole social media contingent. That was really good stuff with the New Year's theme of twenty twenty two. Loved it. I love when we do that stuff. I love when teams do that stuff and then their fans, their fan bases defend why the

team shouldn't talk like that after beating them. It's always a good back and forth. But having the call in for Tom McGinnis last night, who slid over to TV, it was great to be back on the radio. It was a fantastic Game two call. It did start well. I mean when the Sixers went on a ten o run after Brooklyn scored the first basket, forcing a time out. That's always a great start to a broadcast. I was really impressed with how the Sixers withstood some of the

shot making from Kevin Durant in the third quarter. That stood out to me. Durant had back to back threes. The Sixers take a time out collect themselves, and the fourth quarter with all the Maxie shots and embiid at the end with all of that theater that he brings with him being joelmbiid describing that on the radio. It was a remote broadcast, so I was at the Wells Fargo Center and I had monitors going, So you have to keep the eyes up and make sure you're following

what Joel is doing. You can't take your eyes off of Joel Lmbad as you try to paint the picture. But it seemed like I was well into the post game already when I'm still seeing the teams on the court and still seeing Joelmbad the thumbs up and the waving off the court of Kevin Durant. So I had to be locked in on Mbad remotely just to make sure I wasn't missing any of that theater, which was an added wrinkle. I would say, Yeah, no shortage of fanfare to close out twenty twenty one, and we of

course expect no less out of Joel Mbad. I have a comment from Kendra no Matisse talk on this episode question Mark in Fairness, I already shouted out his performance against Golden state a couple of weeks ago, but that's fine. He thought he did a great job, especially early. Matt. You talked about the early time out that the nets were forced to call when it was ten to two

six ers. That was capped that run, of course, capped by Matisse stealing and returning on the other end with the finish, the pick six that would become so accustomed to seeing from Matisse's bible. Of course, last night he had his hands full when he wasn't guarding James Harden, he was often guarding Kevin Durant. So shout out, of course to one of the best defenders in the league, Matt Murphy. Any other ones that you want to get to before we start to close this one down. We

talked about Matise a little bit. I agree, and that play was a good start. I'd say it was fun to start the broadcast in that way, and it was him on the run like you just mentioned, with the dunk, and then he had a bucket shortly after that as well.

Out of the time out, scanning through your questions and comments about a really really nifty right handed finish from Matise through the legs through traffic board and Joel to Joel plays one that somebody sent me a note about, first Matise straight on in the lane using the glass. I was always told to use the glass as a player. I didn't play it any sort of important level. But when I was straight on, I would always argue that I'm just going to try to swish it and Matisse

off the glass and in in the lane. And Joel Embiid banked a three in the win over Brooklyn, so both of them finding a way to make the glass work last night, no doubt about it. The other the other Joel thing is from Jerry Lee, who I talk about Embiad's block onto Rosen earlier in the year as we recount some of the best plays of the twenty twenty one portion of the season as we head into the new year, Jerry Lee said, Embiad's big block last

night was great against Harden, which was awesome. The chase down block and then quickly getting it going the other way ends up with a Tobias Harris dunk on the other end. So another big defensive play happened just last night by Embiid. Yeah, we forget often how special it

is to watch Joel Embiid. It's not very off that you see your seven foot center chasing down a quick guard like James Harden for a chase down block the way that Joel has been able to do so many times, He's almost done it enough times that it loses a

little bit of the shock factor. But when you really think about what you're seeing, that block a really special moment from Joel, who, by the way, has been talking about how much pride he's taking on defense and that perhaps might be the most underrated area of his game. Really do feel that the way that he is able to dominate the floor on both ends of the floor is something that we don't talk about enough with Joel.

Whether you're an opposing offense or an opposing defense, everything that you're doing when Joel is are out there on the court revolves around the fact that Joel is out there on the court on offense, on defense, he's holding it down. He's playing some of his best basketball, and it's been a pleasure to watch all season long. So New Year's resolutions could include watching more of Joel being Joel Embiid. New Year's resolutions maybe more Twitter spaces. Of course,

if you're new here, we do Twitter spaces. After every six ers win, So if there are more spaces as it means we're winning more. These are things that we like overall. And of course I don't have that much control over the wooden column, but when we are in there, I'm certainly happier because it means I get to do these spaces with you, Matt, and with everybody that's in here. And my third and final New Year's resolution. If you've been here before, you already know what I'm going to say.

More tuna melts, More tuna melts in twenty twenty two, Matt Any New Year's Resolutions for you basketball non basketball. The point that you just made about tuna melts, that's fine. My grievance was more so that the time of day when you were eating them, so I mean you were before lunch, the pre lunch tunamount. Look, meals, meals and meal times are a social construct, and if you want

to get into that, we can talk offline. Anyone that's in here that wants to talk about why society has decided that some foods are fine in the morning and some aren't. I don't think that that's fair. I think everyone should be allowed to decide what foods are appropriate at what time of day. So I will continue eating tuna melts in the morning until the day that I die. And I don't want any smoke about that. Actually, I've decided I don't need to fight anyone will. I'm firm

in my beliefs. I have a non sixers New Year's resolution and feel free anyone to send us your resolutions. I need and want to cook things more so I want to become better at cooking. Hey, I don't know how or where to start, but that's something that's on my mind. Starting out with a little bit more breakfast options and kind of going from there. If you think that's a good strategy, let me know. If you have any suggestions for me, let me know. I will try to.

If I do follow through with it, I'll let everybody know what I'm making or trying to make. The damar DeRozan block by mbid put it in the louver that one's from Gina. I agree worth a shout out and Matt Murphy getting into the kitchen. Can't wait to hear tales from learning some cooking craft out there. I'm looking forward to hear about that as well. Want to make sure that we get through any other questions that have

been sent in. I'm looking through my inbox. One of our favorite listeners, Angie, asked, what's the best moment from the game. We addressed that a little bit earlier in the broadcast, So I'm gonna down you need to send us one, Angie, what did you think it was? Exactly? I'm gonna double down though, on Tyrese Maxi's big threes down the stretch, showing what he's added to his game and how confident he is integrating the additions to his game, and then watching the way that, of course these guys

have rallied around. Tyrese has just been tremendous. When you think about what he has been able to do this season, I'm consistently in awe with what the twenty one year old point guard has been able to do, stepping up, stepping into a massive role on a team with really high aspirations, playing alongside guys like Joel and Tobias Harris, Seth Curry, Danny Green, Matisse Thyble, and figuring out where you fit in against alongside all those players with their

own elite skills. Tyrese, of course, we know he can finish he can create for himself, but we didn't know he was going to be able to balance the guys around him, and it's been really cool to watch the way that he has been able to get to know where his teammates like the ball, how he can create for them when he can create for himself while creating for them to meet Tyrese Maxie has perhaps been the biggest surprise of twenty twenty one, but also something that

I have just loved, loved, loved watching more Tyrese content by the way, coming your way on the Sixers social channels in the next few days, some really cool opportunities to listen to Tyree's breakdown some of his own film. That was something that I really enjoyed doing with him, and just watching the way that he's continued to grow all season. Again, we don't always get to all the questions, but there have been so many about Tyrese. I see your questions, I see your comments. I agree with you.

He has been nothing but a pleasure. Matt five six oh four, five six oh four. I was wondering if I was going to end up being like a five six seven or ten nine, eight seventy six or sing I'm just kidding, says we must protect Tyrese at all costs. I agree. He's just a wonderful human, wonderful player. Been such a pleasure to watch him grow this season. I have another play as we talk moments of the Nets win or the Sixers win over the Nets, the Nets game.

This sequence somebody messaged and said the play out of the time out but before that ninety seven ninety five six Ers after a Harris lay up, Harden comes down and scores timeout ninety seven ninety seven, and then with a little more than three minutes left, Joel creating some space down low, spinning on Aldridge and getting the and one. So one of those many and ones, but that was the pre and one to the final and one by Joel, that one to break the tie. There were a lot

of ties and lead changes in this one. You asked me about the experience calling the game on the radio, seventy six Ers Radio network ninety seventy five, the fanatic. It was a lot of shot making early, which as a radio broadcaster, it felt like every shot that was thrown up in the first quarter sixteen points by embiid, but a handful of threes for both sides, four for each.

Everything was going down. So it was every possession down the floor calling a made basket, which I suppose beats calling misses too often, but a lot of shot making, a lot of lead changes and ties, and down the stretch of the game it was one team scores, the other team answers, but mbid regaining the lead for the Sixers was a common theme down the stretch. Yeah, so much fun to watch. You mentioned at nineteen lead changes,

eleven ties. Last night in Brooklyn. The Sixers came out hot, thirty nine points in the first quarter, ties, their high scoring quarter for the season, and then down the stretch things got a little grittier, the defense got a little heavier, the Sixers hold the Nets to twenty points in the fourth quarter, outscoring the Nets in the fourth quarter twenty six to twenty proved to be enough as a Sixers take one one o two victory in Brooklyn, perhaps one of the best wins, if not the best win of

the season. To me, it's this one and the Golden State Warriors win at home a couple of weeks ago. But no better way to cap twenty twenty one, Matt, No better way to cap twenty twenty one than doing this with you. I love doing Twitter spaces. I hope we're going to do so many more in twenty twenty two. If you have any final thoughts, takes, questions, get them off now, and otherwise we're going to start to turn

the page. The last question I wanted to reference was from BLSG who says, how do you feel how do you feel about this about the Sixers going into this next game versus the Houston Rockets. The Rockets a team that has been struggling this season and struggling of late, but still capable of doing lots of good things. Lots of Christian Wood fans will be in attendance when the Rockets come to South Philadelphia for the Sixers first game

of twenty twenty two. I of course like the Sixers chances against a Rockets team that has perhaps less talent than the Sixers do, But as this season has proven, you never know who's going to be available or what's going to happen on any given night. The Sixers have expressed that they want to do a better job of treating every opponent with a seriousness and respect that they

gave the Brooklyn Nets. Clearly last night, But a lot of confidence this team has to have going out on the road, winning three straight on the road, capping it by winning the best winning against the best team in the East, and heading home to go into a first game of twenty twenty two where they considerably outmatch the opponent, and then of course the Sixers having a little bit more time off in these next couple weeks as well.

The schedule has been absolutely brutal. It's not something that people have talked about quite as much as maybe they should have. The Sixers have not had a lot of time off. They have three days in a row off right now. That's not something that they have at all this season. So an opportunity for the guys to get a little bit of rest, a little bit of recovery, celebrate the new year, and then some more time off

between the next games. So the Sixers will only have three games in the next I believe it is twelve days, which is again so welcome for a team that's been through a rigorous schedule so far. So looking forward to that one as the Sixers host the Rackets on January third, Matt Murphy, I will hope to be with you for Twitter spaces on January fourth. Yea, I will let you close it down from here. Will do two of those games of the three in the next twelve days are

at home, including the Rockets game. The Rockets are ten and twenty five, bottom of the West. They had a very long winning streak of not too long ago, but right now they've lost five straight games. They're three and seventeen away from home, so the Sixers will have the home court advantage on Monday night at seven pm. You mentioned Christian Wood. Here's a random broadcasting fun facts from me. It's that my first professional broadcast in twenty eighteen was

a Delaware Bluecoats game at the University of Delaware. Christian Wood was formerly a player for Delaware, but he was playing at the time for the Wisconsin Heard in the Milwaukee Bucks organization. He scored thirty plus point in my first ever pro broadcast against the Bluecoats, who had thirty plus from Shake Milton as a rookie as a rookie professional Christian Wood and Shake Milton in Delaware and now they'll square off in the NBA a few years later.

And I really have a fun, wild final thought here from Jerry Lee, as I talk about cooking. I'm going to read this and its entirety. Eggs. Benedict is amazing with hollandaise sauce over English muffins. Bro. If you learn to make that and eat it, you will make that a stable in your breakfasts at least once a month. Noted, thank you, j thank you. No chance, I'm a hater. There's no chance you learned to do that first. But if you do, I look forward to hearing about how

you managed to do it. Matt really excited about the three you in the new year. Oh, now that I talked about it, I guess I have to try, so you do. Those are the rules? All right? Well on that note, good stuff as always. The Sixers big win in Brooklyn, huge win on the road, Three straight wins all on the road, one ten, one, two thirty four from MB twenty five from Maxie. They forced the Nets into eighteen turnovers and they give the Nets their tenth

loss of the season. The Sixers are now nineteen and sixteen. Like Lauren said, we will hope to be back with you on Twitter spaces following the next Sixers win. They play the Rockets on Monday night at seven pm. Eastern Time. Until then, everyone have a happy New Year. We will talk in twenty twenty two. Thanks for being with us. As always, it is always a lot of fun. Thanks again for listening for Lauren Rosen. I'm Matt Murphy and we'll catch you next time. See Yeah,
