You're listening to rewind, they'll listen back on press conferences, highlights and analysis from the seventy sixers previous game. It was supposed to be an early season at measuring test, but two of the better teams so far in the Eastern Conference, seventy Sixers. They brought yardsticks, and a bunch of them. They blew out the Miami Heat, not even
close one thirteen eighty six. This one was a thoroughly dominant performance by the seventy Sixers as they win their fourth straight game to improve to eleven and five, six and oz down here at the Center on a night they celebrated their one hundredth consecutive sellout game in South Philadelphia and fittingly against his former team for the first time. Josh Richardson led the way with thirty two points, tying the second highest total of his career. Wow, the Sixers
were that good tonight. And we've heard that phrase Championship aspirations used a lot surrounding this team going back to the start of training. Happened to the first couple of weeks the regular season, Well, this looked like an elite, a highly elite team. Tonight the seventy Sixers dominating both ends of the court. Offensively, they carved up Miami, which came into tonight's game with the second lowest defensive rating
in the entire league. The Sixers shot fifty and a half percent from the field overall, fourteen of twenty nine from three. Their transition attack was tremendous. And if that's the case, what does that mean? Well the Sixers defense? If Miami was number two defensively, then where does that put the Sixers? They were awesome. Miami was shooting under thirty four percent going into the fourth quarter. They finished
with just six three porters. Miami came in tonight the third best three point shooting team in the entire league. Sixers turned them over eighteen times for twenty four points. Off tournaments. All right, enough of me, We go now to Brett Brown defend. You get a chance to really have a special defensive night, and I felt like we did some of those things. Do you have a sense of how personal Ange was going to take that game coming in, because out on the floor it certainly seemed
like that moment a lot to him. I agree with you, UM I did not you know I learned something tonight. Um It doesn't surprise me. But to the level that he displayed that h stood out. Um, he was very very good both sides of the ball tonight. As we're always talking about Josh's kind of versatility, like he could do a bunch of different things on the floor, tonight he was he was all about scoring for him tonight. I mean, how valuable that's true? Well, what would you
see from him? You know? Both? I think that I saw just a two way guard. I thought somebody stalking people down rear view contest with the shots making people like have to chew up clock on just like full court entries, and he made it difficult all over the place. He was stalking, he was harassing, That's what I saw. And then you saw him score and I really think, you know, it was as fine a performance on both sides of the ball that should be reflected in how
we judge him tonight. In my opinion, it's been a recurring theme, but Ben again defensively, seemed like he really disrupted everything they kind of wanted to do. Did you see that as well? I think I don't even know what the statute's going to read. What I what I do know is he Ben was elite again defensively, and
I thought his performance guarding Jimmy was outstanding. You know, when Ben puts his mind to it and he sort of uncoils, and he's six foot ten and he's strong, and he's got a desire to guard like he has been guarding. I don't care who it is. Like that, that's a tough person to have on you. And I thought tonight what he should be remembered for is how tenacious and committed and constant he was Defensively. He was very, very good, no doubt about it. Ben Simmons plus thirty
four in twenty six minutes. He only scored four points. Sixers didn't need anything else from him, eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals, and he helped keep Jimmy Butler in check. Butler just four of thirteen from the field, eleven points, oh for two from three and a turnover minus thirty one. That was a game low, begs. Ben Simmons a big part of that seventy Sixers with a major win over
the Miami Heat. Miami came in having won five consecutive games, while it's the seventy Sixers that managed to extend their winning streak tonight to a fourth consecutive game as they head to Toronto for a big matchup with the Raptors on Monday night. Tom McGinnis is standing by. We get to him next. Tom McGinnis got to call a very entertaining one tonight. Well that's at least if you're the
radio man the old seventy Sixers time. It was clear early on the Sixers were keyed and dialed into this one. They raced out two and eleven to two lead. They were up by twenty points, twenty six to six with about five minutes to go in the first quarter. They didn't let up one bit. No, they didn't, and they had the jump and the energy, and they swung the ball of momentum decidedly in their favor from the very
beginning and never let up. It's interesting we heard from James Dennis the third after the game saying that the Sixers apparently put together an edit or, in other words, a short video that showed them what the Philly edge, how they ought to play with the toughness, and that made a difference. They were amped up, and again, I think everybody had this game circled a little bit whether
they would admit it or not. With all the things surrounding, Jimmy Butler returning and Josh against his old team, and then again two teams that were near the top of the East, Miami with an eleven three record, five wins in a row, they wanted to see how they measure up against the Sixers, and the Sixers dominated, and I think Miami they obviously headed off to night. It's a it's a back to back for both teams, but they
came from Chicago and they didn't have the jump. This was by far there not their best game, but the Sixers,
without question, it was their best game. So hey, four in a row for the Sixers, seven to oh at home, hundred straight sellouts over twenty one thousand fans on hand, and a dominant performance by the Sixers Tonight, Sixers in a Route one thirteen eighty six over Miami and tim For the Sixers, there's been a lot of talk about how things are going to fit and flow on the offensive end of the cord, but Brett Brown has been adamant and he's maintained that if the Sixers are going
to get to where they want to be, this is going to be a defensive oriented program. Listen, the defense tonight was outstanding. I mean, they just clamped down Ben Simmons again setting the tone and I think at various points over this past week, in particular, if we zero in on Simmons, you you can see flashes of what Brett Brown has talked about in the past when he's included simmons name alongside references to defensive Player of the
Year candidate. Well, certainly first team All Defense, that's for sure. And you know, I think you know that stat that you just prattled off in terms of Simmons four points but plus thirty something and he was all over Jimmy Butler and so and then Josh and Joel's protecting the back line and the size of the Sixers. You know, it put an imprint on the game. And that's right. I mean, because again there's not every single night you're not going to make fourteen threes. And you know, the
Sixers have shot it well great for the last two games. Tonight, I think they ended up with twenty eight assists. They had thirty over the last two games coming into this one. But the defense is going to be the hallmark, and that's that's telling They really dominated this. They took the heat out of everything, I mean none and Duncan Robinson. We heard so much about their three point abilities and
that was a non factor here tonight. A real solid effort at that end of the floor defensively for the Sixers. Seventy Sixers win their fourth straight one thirteen eighty six led by as much as forty one points and they never trailed in tonight's game one bit against the Miami Heat and Tom we have seen over the course of this winning streak the Sixers getting nice boost from the bench, whether it's a Quark mos or James Nis the third or Mike Scott. This game was about the starting five
for the seventy Sixers. It was at full strength. Everyone was out there. With Josh Richardson returning, he was terrific and you could see how the pieces all fit together at an optimal level tonight, no doubt about it. And they went into and beat and yet he passed out of the trap. And then when the game at halftime again the Sixers led by twenty, but Joel comes out and gets two open looks for three and nailed it.
And then Josh Richardson had a three in there and if there was Normally, you know the NBA, it's a long game, forty eight minutes, Typically there is a run, and that's kind of what you had the sense at halftime, Well, they're gonna make a run, and my point was, you know when and how long will it never happen? And that's I think in large part due to the fact that the Sixers knocked down those threes and that was a twelve old run going back to the late second,
and that blew the game wide open. But the three point shooting was brilliant, and as you say, Brian, the starters were probably the best we've seen them. And now hopefully, knock on wood and health willing, if you will, that the Sixers are able to play them and get into
some groove. And Brett Brown was talking about time talent or time Trump's talent, but they have talent, and hopefully they're going to get some time and some continuity together and we'll see it all blend where the Sixers, you know, start to get into this home schedule a little bit more as they just did, and start to rack up multiple winning streaks. They've already won five in a row and here they've won four in a row and a big matchup obviously with a huge division rival in Toronto
on Monday. Yeah, and then you got Indian looming a week from tonight. So some good tests upcoming for the seventy sixers as they look to get on a further role. Tom talk to you in Toronto. Thank you, good night, Brian. Seventy six Xers one thirteen Miami Heat eighty six. We'll here's some highlights from Tom's game call that's coming up. Seventy Sixers and the Miami Heat meeting for the first time this season. Familiar faces abound, Josh Richardson with the
seventy Sixers, Jimmy Butler with the Miami Heats. How that all play out against two of the better teams in the Eastern Conference decidedly in one team's favor and that team was one called your seventy sixers. They got it rolling early on and never looked back. And now here's Joel with a reverse jam on Meyer's LETTERD. What a play by and beat timeout Miami, a windmill reversed by a beat and the crowd loves it. Nine in a row and an electric atmosphere here in Philadelphia eleven to
two seventy Sixers lead. That margin would only grow larger as the first quarter went along. Druggage rebounds, throws it the better, Simmons, Sixers on the move, Simmons against hero Tell left corner thiball three bout in the year matis fibll trifecta and the Sixers are leading Miami by twenty points another dish by Simmons. It was an outrageous start for the seventy Sixers, their lead to his twenty eight
thirteen going into the second quarter. In that second quarter, they only expanded upon the good that they built at the beginning of the game. Tobias Harris getting into the act, clock winding down, Sixers lead by thirteen, Harris for three Kyles direct out top Tobias Harris with his first tray in the game, knocking down that tray over two Miami defenders. Strong game from Tobias Harris that made it forty to twenty four. But Josh Richardson, he was the star of
the show tonight. Shot clock has nine on it, Josh Richardson of the ball. Richardson off the screen by and beat comes up shooting for three and a ten, knocking it down with Duncan Robinson in his wink and the Sixers by twenty fifty five. Thirty five would be how it stood at the break, the Sixers leading by twenty points and a half of the second time this season more Josh Richardson in the third against his old squad
blob the Josh Richardson. He comes down, he goes back up, and Eric's Polster calls time out up top the Bias Harris to download Josh Richardson. And these Sixers have scored twelve in a row and they're up by thirty points on the Miami Heat Wow. Sixty five to thirty five
was the score at that point. The Sixers led ninety two fifty nine going into the fourth, and Josh Richardson would also push this game to a game high margin of forty one points in the fourth by the shoot Richardson for three, and he's done in a game, great movement of the basketball to Josh Richardson knocking down the three. He's got ten field goals, six of which are three pointers, eight straight by the Sixers, and it's a forty one
point game. And if you didn't know the route was on at that point, perhaps it was when Joel Embiid made that circus lay up with the shot clock winding down as the game was beginning to go in to its final stages. Maybe that was the sign as the Sixers all over the Miami Heat Tonight one, thirteen eighty six. The Sixers shot fifteen and a half percent from the field, fourteen of twenty nine from outside the arc, fifteen to
seventeen from the line. They outrebounded Miami by six They outscored the Heat sixteen to seven on fast breaks and the defense though from the seventy Sixers that was the story collectively in my opinion of tonight's game. Let's not even look at the final stats. We should look at where things were through three quarters before the reserves from both teams came in. The Sixers allowed Miami just nineteen field goals through three quarters. At that point, the Heat
were shooting under thirty four percent. They were just five of seventeen from outside the arc. This from Miami team that came into tonight's game third in the NBA shooting just under forty from three on the season. The Sixers also turned Miami over eighteen times, converted those turnovers into twenty four points, thirty two points for Josh Richardson, five
off his career high. He was eleven and fifteen overall, six of seven from outside the arc, twenty three for Joel and b to go with eleven rebounds, nineteen for Tobias Harris plus eight boards for him, sixteen for Al Horford. Horford with six boards, four points for Ben Simmons, but eight rebounds, seven assists, four steals plus thirty four in twenty six minutes. To night was all about the will that the seventy sixers talented starting five was able to impose.
Six Ers have won four straight there, now eleven and five, they end Miami's five game winning streak. The Heat dropped to eleven and four. Up next for the seventy Sixers the Toronto Raptors on Monday night from Scotia Bank Arena. The Sixers back at the scene of the crime. They are currently a half game behind the Toronto Raptors. That game is at seven thirty on Monday one final time. The final score the seventy six Ers one thirteen, the
Miami Heat to eighty six. You've been listening to rewind look out for fresh episodes of the day after every seventy six Ers game this season.
