You're listening to rewind. They'll listen back on press conferences, highlights and analysis from the seventy sixers previous game. We want to be a good road team, the seventy Sixers said just before leaving the Delaware Valley yesterday and heading out to Motown. Well tonight's performance a pretty darn good place to start, missing Joel Embid. The seventy Sixers go on a comeback run to win at Little Caesar's Arena

one seventeen to one eleven. How you doing. I'm Brian Seltzer will reconnect with Tom McGinnis in just a few moments play back some of his highlight calls recap all the key nuggets and notes surrounding the sixers second win of the season, as the team is off to a two and oh start for the first time since Brett Brown's first season in twenty thirteen. Fourteen. Sixers got off

to a great start in this game. They led twelve to two, and at that point you're thinking, you know, granted it's only the second game of the season and about five minutes in, but like this team is playing exactly like the seventy Sixers brain trust between Elton brand and Brett Brown said they would smash mouth offense, get in the paint and then suffocate you with some bullyball

airtight defense. Sixers came out of the gates firing Maatist Thible in his first start was creating some havoc defensively along with Josh Richardson. But then the Detroit Pistons turned things over to their bench, led by Derrick Rose, who would go on to score a total of thirty one points in tonight's game, and they got right back in at Detroit scored twenty three bench points in the first quarter. They led by one after twelve minutes, They're up by

three at halftime. They increased the lead to thirteen points about four to five minutes into the third quarter. Then mister Newley resigned. Tobias Harris stepped up. He went for thirteen of his twenty nine and the third quarter put his ability to score at all three levels on full display in that period, and then in the fourth quarter he had Al Horford. People will note the scoring numbers for him. He scored twelve of his bigger parton fifteen of his twenty three in the fourth quarter. But then

there was also Ben Simmons. Simmons had a great fourth quarter. He was the straw that helps stir the seventy sixers drink. He had a huge, full court length drive off a defensive rebound to score pivotal basket to give the seventy Sixers some additional insurance and breathing room. Simmons with thirteen points, ten assists, seven steals. That is a career high to go with four rebounds in tonight's game. He came up

big down the stretch and then throughout the evening. As you might have just heard Brett Brown talk about, Sixers bench was really really solid in particular Mike Scott five three pointers for seventeen points in the game, Shake Milton ten points in twelve minutes when he was on the floor. Some decent things happened. He was plus nine for the Sixers,

a pretty good mark for him. And yeah, there were just some nice moments from members of the bench, even how will Nato in six minutes he had a couple of nifty scores and held the fourth down in the six minutes he logged as a reserve and then Kyle O'Quinn in relief of Al Horford tonight with six rebounds. He also had a couple block shots for the seventy sixers as they win tonight one seventeen one eleven to improve to two and ozero, and they were able to

win tonight's game without Joel Embiid. Tom McGuinness called this one tonight from Little Caesar's Arena. Can even Tom, Your big takeaways from this one were, oh man, that is a physical game. We sit down by the court in this arena, and I don't know if it's because when you sit down here you just see things and you almost feel the game a little bit more. But it was really, I mean, rugged, physical game. And the Sixers responded and I'll tell you it's NBA competition and it

is hard fought. And that's how the Sixers responded. They came out here and really, you know, after Detroit, after succombing the league, and Detroit took the lead in the second quarter, and then Detroit with a thirteen to three run, You're like, oh man, this is even going to be more difficult, and the Sixers rallied right back. So Harris

was phenomenal in that third. Al Horford, as Brett Brown said, thank god, he's on our team, because that's what you've seen from him over the years, and now he's doing it for the Sixers. It's still it's an amazing thing. It's the first time we've really seen the impact that he can make in a game, and he was phenomenal and then like you were just outlining, Brian, there were

so many performances. How about Shake. I think Shake Milton's going to be a factor for the Sixers, not unlike and I'm not comparing the players, but you know, like Quinn Cook for the Warriors stepped in and made an impact. He had been in the G League and he stepped in with Golden State and he was a helping, contributed player. I think Shake is gonna give the Sixers some scoring, some much needed outside punch, and you know Furkon's gonna help out in that way too. But all in all,

a great road victory. They're so hard to get away from home. Been a tremendous come from behind victory here after a great start by this six Ers. But a great record now, I mean a great win with a two and o record. You know, time It's interesting with Shake because it's not like he played a ton of games or logged a ton of minutes with the seventy six ers last year, But he was just a guy that when he got in good things seemed to happen.

Maybe even more than that, it didn't look like he was swallowed up by the setting of being there, and he continued to pop and show some good stuff tonight. I wanted to dive in a little bit more, of course, with Tobias Harris. I mean, I think a narrative surrounding him from the outside going into this year was like, well, you know, now there's I guess like maybe three of these top tier players in the seventy six ers where Yeah, Jimmy Butler last year as a fourth, how would Tobias fit?

Huge spot Game two of the season, we saw everything that Tobias Harris could do, especially offensively, but I also thought he played a pretty good defensive game tonight as well. Yeah, and I think he realized that they needed it, you know what I like. And you know, offensively, he's already and he's willing to take those threes, and he's six nine and he catches it and then as a high release point and he's he gets that ball off quickly as well. I think that's part of what makes him

a really good perimeter player. And then, as I've said so many times since the Sixers acquired him, if he gets a smaller guy at him, he doesn't mess around. He just backs down. He turned, he doesn't have to get all the way to the basket. He just turns around and scores the ball. So he really almost single handling. Again, the guys are moving the ball to him. But he started making those threes, and that's what allowed the Sixers

to battle back from that ten point lead. And then he in the fourth handed the basketball baton if he will over to Al Horford, and Horford began to dominate, drumming, making threes, driving, getting to the line, following, I mean getting guarding, drumming and without following, and just doing a tremendous job in many areas. He just got stronger as the game went on. Six Ers over Detroit one seventeen, one eleven. They got a big four quarter from Al Horford.

Ben Simmons time, I thought he played a really nice game. Again he did he like I said, I thought when he got the foul and again, like so, I just described how Harris scores when he gets in an ISO and He's real careful to avoid charging and if it's not there, he kicks it out. That's something I think Ben needs to kind of come to grips with at times. And that is it looked like the Sixers play called to play for him out of the gate, and third he had Morris on him. Morris steps in and then

Ben drops his shoulder and knocks him down. So that's now his fourth foul. He thought he was gonna have to come out. He kept looking over toward the bench and that altered his game a little bit. So He's obviously very good below the foul line at driving that ball, but he was a little concerned. You could tell by the way he was veering away from the basket of picking up a charge and potentially the fifth foul, especially

with a lot of time to go. And that led to a few jumpers, which is fine, but he ended up taking fadeaway jumpers from the corner of the shots he did make and even some he missed. Are those difficult in the end he was five or thirteen from the floor. Are some of those difficult running bank shots? They look great when he makes them, but as I say, high degree of difficulty. But seven steals, thirteen points, tenniss He did a lot to run this ball club and

helped them get over the finish line with the win. Alrighty, Tom McGinnis. We'll be back on the air on Monday when the seventy sixers closed after this two game road trip against the Atlanta Hawks from State Farm RAINA. Thanks Tom, good night, Brian, thank you. Seventy six ers overcome the Detroit Pistons in a game that featured eleven ties and eight lead changes one seventeen, one eleven. Ben Simmons might

not have had the perfect game. I guess really when I was leading with that question, was some of the stuff we saw it down the stretch in crunch time. Thought that he certainly was important in helping set up Al Horford for key baskets and then defensively, he was someone who irritated and bothered Detroit throughout the game. Twenty nine for Tobias Harris, thirteen of which came in the fourth quarter alone. Al Horford with twenty three points and

nine rebounds and five assists. Josh Richardson ten points and six times. Ben Simmons thirteen points, four rebounds, seven steals, a career high he was a really solid presence for the seventy sixers. Mike Scott with seventeen off the bench, Shake Milton with ten and a reserve role as well. We'll play back some highlights and wrap up our postgame

coverage in just a moment. To on the road for the seventy six ers, a trip beginning tonight at Little Caesar's Arena in Detroit on Brian Selters Sixers du win Tonight one seventeen, one eleven. Joel Embiid did not play. He is on the trip and went through portions of today's shoot around. Probably get an update either tomorrow or on Monday about his status for Monday's game against the Atlanta Hawks. Let's hear about how this one went. As

called by the one and only Tom McGinnis. Seventy Sixers raced out to a quick start courtesy of a former Piston, Tobias Harris Simmons. The Harris Tobias driving by Drummond by one that in the night hekes a bump, puts it up an end to Bias Harris not taking the three off the dribble hops of the right stops lays it

up from nine feet into paint well. The Sixers went up twelve to two at that point, but then Detroit answered with a thirteen to three run of its own and led by one twenty nine twenty eight after a quarter. Seventy Sixers then were battling uphill in period number two.

Gwinn on the left side, Matise dive Alo a drive, Thible loft the ball, Brown picks it up and now freakshns these has it stolen by Simmons, Ben Davila two hind thrown Hey thunderous lamb by Ben Simmons locked it up at thirty eighty piece, but the seventy sixers were down three fifty seven fifty four at the break. Detroit widen the gap to thirteen points. In the third quarter.

Tobias Harris was the catalyst for a company Harris down the fire, sidelighting of Matise, Thibal with the dribble five all into the corner, circles back hits a trailing nil Horford and now to the Bias three balls shot here bang. It's good. Best play of the game by the Sixers at that point. It was, but some of the players would only get better. The seventy Sixers managed just four three pointers in the first half in the third quarter that you were able to match that number with four more.

Milton trying to get around Derrick Rose, he goes to Mike Scott. Scott fakes it back to netto shot clock at nine. They go back to Scott. He's gonna shoot it on Christian what it is? Good? Ties the game A four three in the game by Mike Scott even in an eighty three and that would be the score going into the fourth quarter. And at that point the Sixers seemed to find their legs looked really, really solid and fluid. Shake Milton stepped up, Shake Milton for three,

and it's good. Milton nails a corner. Three Simmons of the past of Milton in the corner and shake Milton gives us Sixers ninety five. Leave But seventy six Ers five of seven from three in the all important fourth quarter, the Sixers leading by four. Al Horford then went on a tear of his own. The seventy Sixers got a huge push from him. They had a fifteen to five run that was ignited by Horford. He scored ten in a row. At one point five on the clock, Derrick

Rose has Richard said richards and went three. He goes back to Horford. He's gonna fire for three. Shut up, it's good again. Al Harford is making his presence. Don't in a huge way. To say the least one twelve on oh two was in the score at that point. Seventy Sixers hang on to win it by six in come from behind fashion. Final notes from the final box scores. Seventy Sixers ended up shooting forty eight percent from the field,

Detroit just under fifty four percent. Seventy six Ers hit thirteen three pointers compared to eight from Detroit, and that's essentially year ball game. The Sixers were plus three on the glass. They turned the ball over twenty two times. Detroit committed twenty three turnovers. Tobias Harris twenty nine points to lead the seventy sixers. He also added seven rebounds and two steals. Al Horford with twenty three points, nine rebounds and five assists. Ben Simmons thirteen points, ten assists,

four rebounds, seven steals a career high. Josh Richardson with ten points six times seventeen from Mike Scott off the bench to go with five three pointers ten point points for Shake Milton Derrick Rose had thirty one four. Detroit seventy six Ers will next face the Atlanta Hawks. The Atlanta Hawks beat Detroit on opening night, and they also knocked off the Orlando Magic tonight one oh three to ninety nine. So two two and oh teams will go

head to head on Monday at State Farm Arena. Atlanta, of course, led by former seventy Sixers assistant coach Lloyd Pierce. Look at for this man named Trey Young. He has combined to score doing my math real quickly thirty eight plus thirty nine as what seventy seven points through the first two games for Atlanta. He scored thirty eight points in the opener and then thirty nine tonight against the

Orlando Magic. So the Sixers will hope to get Joel and be back on Monday and continue getting great defensive play as Trey Young is on fire through the first two games of the season. One final time, the final score it was the seventy six Ers one seventeen and the Detroit Pistons one eleven.
