You're listening to rewind, they'll listen back on press conferences, highlights and analysis from the seventy sixers previous game. The seventy Sixers, it was adventurous, but they do get the job done tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers, winning ninety eight ninety seven, fending off the Calves in the final seconds. How are you. I'm Brian Seltzer down here at the center of the seventy Sixers, Trailed by five points with
five minutes to go. Joel Ebad checked back into the game, brought some solid energy with him, and the Sixers closed the night on an eight to two run. Tobias Harris, who struggled to find his shot throughout the evening, had a say in each of the sixers final three decisive baskets.
He scored the first two, assisted on the game winner to Embiid, and the seventy Sixers get over the top ninety eight to ninety seven, and Bead finishing with twenty seven points to go with sixteen rebounds and four assists, seventeen for Josh Richardson, who was an active scorer throughout the night. Ben Simmons with fifteen points five rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocks, and his return ten points for fur Con corkmas again Tobias Harris with just eight points.
He was four of seventeen from the field over eleven from three butts. At the end of the night, Harris was there and helped the seventy Sixers get over the top Sixers. It was a collective theme that they struggled to find their shot throughout the entire night, eight of thirty eight from outside the art. Cleveland was not better,
just five of twenty one. But this was a game in which young Cleveland battled and fought and hung around, and the Sixers had a couple points throughout the night where they led by nine points, but Cleveland just would not let the Sixers get a comfortable grip of this game, and up until the end, the Sixers had a tough time obviously put in Cleveland away. But the good news is the team is seven and three. They were mean undefeated at home with the record of four and oh.
Here at the Center before setting out on the road once again standing by for Brett Brown's postgame press conference following the sixers second straight victory. And you know these last two games here at the center. They went over Charlotte on Sunday and the game tonight against the Cavaliers similar in field. You know, it was not easy for the Sixers as they looked to tighten some things up.
I thought in the first half it was really encouraging to see the Sixers protect the basketball a little bit better. They only had four turnovers in the first half. But then in the third quarter, when Cleveland hung thirty points in the Sixers, that's when things started to get interesting. They gave up the ball did the Sixers six times in the third quarter, ten times overall in the second half, and that, without question allowed Cleveland to get back in
the game. Cleveland did a decent job rebounding the ball tonight. They also were able to control the interior to a certain part of tonight's game, outscoring the seventy six Ers fifty eight to fifty six in the paint, and they hung with the Sixers the offensive glass as well. Jordan Clarkson has been a guy who's been a problem for the seventy Sixers in recent years. He came off the bench to score twenty. I thought Tristan Thompson had a
really nice game with seventeen points and twelve rebounds. Kevin Love with twenty points and eight boards for Cleveland, but Joel Embiid twenty seven and sixteen. He came back into the game with five minutes to go. He scored right away. The Sixers set him up for a close range shot right at the rim that he laid in from two feet.
He also had a big block on Tristan Thompson. He dove for the loose ball rebound on the sequence when Kevin Love missed the open straightaway three with time winding down embad and then of course, the game winning shot to make it ninety eight ninety seven on the inbounds play with Tobias Harris finding him from the foulne big place from Joel Embiid down the stretch on a night that he and the seventy sixers just not able to get into quite enough of an offensive sinc to make
this a comfortable game. But they do fend off the Cavaliers ninety seven in the final seconds. Brett Brown now talking about themes for tonight's game and the defense, nacity, his will to win, diving on the floor, you know, making plays. I thought he was exceptional tonight, and you know when we all look back and see sort of the Utah game and Denver game, he's trying to get his legs underneath him and find his win. It's it's exacerbated because you're in altitude. And I really do believe
that it's not an excuse. That's what I think. And then incrementally, you know, like he has a good game the other night and has a Joe LMB type of game tonight, but it was driven out of I think his his his energy, like he really got after things. From a physical standpoint, Very little has come easy from you. What does it say really about the NBA where even the sub five hundred teams are just you know, making your work like crazy. We've got a ton of close games.
I mean, we really have. I sadistically love it. I do because we've spent so much time I'm on situations over Audacia. We knew early on, like if we're winning, we're not blowing anybody out. If we're gonna win, it's probably gonna be close and we're gonna have to steal one. And then you get to this stage and it's true, like people coming at us from a different angle now and I think that those young guys, they've they've claimed some scalps. They've actually, in my opinion, overachieved. I think
coach Beeline has done a great job with them. And so NBA teams come into to our Jim and they're NBA teams, and I think like that that game, there are some things that turnovers in the second half, you know, you scratch your head. But in general to find a way in a will to win, I give our guys credit. You're playing with fire and that regard where it's hard to come down to so many it is a blowtorch, Yeah it is. It is violent. It's a really big one.
It's you know, like you're just watching the game on fold and you like, you can't make some of that up, and you know it's I'm the coach and so I got to figure it out. But some of those turnovers certainly were head scratching. I do give a guys credit for not crumbling. I think that we knew if we had to do anything, we better play defense, and defense we played. I liked the way that we defended, especially down this stretch. I don't think they scored in the
last three minutes. Score the Cleveland Cavaliers did not, as the seventy Sixers hang on eight ninety seven two knockoff Cleveland, a feisty Cleveland team. Tonight, the Sixers one two in a row after three straight losses. There's seven and three on the year, undefeated at home, still with a record of four and oh as bring on Tom McGinnis right now, and Tom, we have heard that phrase emerging resilience about
this year's team. And hey, you know, no, Al Horford tonight, first game back for Ben Simmons and all, it was not a linear path to the win tonight, it still was in the end victory. Well, and it goes back to another thing, and that is, you know, like, for instance, Harris really struggled from the field, but made some nice plays led to mb to the basket on an assistant
help win the game. And the overall point I'm trying to make is even on nights where you struggled from schooling from the field scoring, you got to play defense. And that's what they did and coaches right over the last three and a half minutes, Cleveland had five empty possessions and then that's what allowed the Sixers to come back and win this game, and it's you know, you get to April with Lord Willing fifty plus wins, and this is a type of game you may not remember,
but it's what gets you to that point. And it's a game you should have won. But that doesn't mean anything. I mean, you got to come out here and do it. And Cleveland played really well and led the game, you know, early in the fourth quarter and for most of the fourth quarter by a margin of around five points. So to come out with a victory and get that stop
at the end, great look by Kevin Love. But he struggled from beyond in this game, and the Sixers really fun for that loose ball rebound to let the game come to a close with that one point win. Seventy Sixers over the Cavaliers ninety eight to ninety seven, twenty seven points, sixteen rebounds for Joel Embiid. He came in tom with five minutes to go. The Sixers outscored the
Cavaliers eight to two. From there, he scored right off the bat first play the Sixers ran from following that time out, he had a big block on Tristan Thompson. You could tell that he helped lift the energy the Sixers when it mattered the most well, and almost as much or had certainly as big as anything was the defensive play with about I'm not exactly sure, but I would say three or four possessions before the end where
he dove down and stole the ball. And again when the clock is winding down, there was like two seconds to shoot. You know, you can kind of take a gamble because they were so far away from the bad You gotta be careful. You don't want to follow and bail him out. But beat dove down and freed up that ball and got the Sixers the possession and knocked Cleveland in terms of being able to score again. One of those possessions went by the wayside because of his effort,
and he literally laid it on the line. I mean again, there's certain players, there's certain teams they're gonna have difficulty covering ebid. I thought Thompson was very efficient for them early on. Come on, he made two threes and around the basket. But really, even with nance, they don't have anybody that can guard you well, and he made them pay. He had energy, he had fight, He was the star,
and he helped deliver the Sixers. This victory tonight Joel in bead Seventy sixers right back at it tomorrow evening versus the Orlando Magic. Tom talked to you from Florida, Thank you, goodnight. Seventy Sixers hang on to win by one, ninety eight, ninety seven, twenty seven and sixteen for Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons fifteen, five and six in his return, ten for fur con Corkmas, seventeen for Josh Richardson to go
along with five assists. Sixers over the Cavaliers ninety eight, ninety seven will play some of Tom's highlight calls next. Seventy Sixers on the eve of another long road trip, looking to leave South Philadelphia with a second straight win in hand. I'm Brian Seltzer. Here's out. Tonight's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers sounded courtesy the one and Only Tom again as Ben Simmons was back and early on it
seemed like he was feeling pretty good. Sexton was seven lobs into the lane to dance, busted up by Kylo Quinn. Good job defending of the paint corkbos leads to break the betty Oh yeah, Ben Simmons with a jam cork boss with the dish, wheeling and dealing in the middle. Simmons missing portions of the last three games due to
a minor sprain in his right shoulder. Seventy Sixers after twelve minutes of play, holding a twenty four twenty one lead, They would open things up after finishing the first quarter on a fourteen to four run to a nine point advantage. In quarter number two, Simmons one on one on the near sides out to Tobias Harris with dance on a footpak and now lives into the Ben Simmons. A reverse jam up top and a reverse slam by Ben Simmons to Bias led him to the basket. They made it
forty two to thirty three. The Sixers lead would be six at intermission fifty four to forty eight. The third quarter, things began to change. The Sixers did a great job of keeping the turnovers down in the first half, but they committed six in the third quarter and that gave the smunky Cavalier's new life. Josh Richardson putting a positive punctuation on another difficult third parks at biss a second free pro eight seconds to go. Richardson with a ball
five seconds off the dribble. Josh Richardson backs up, fires three is good, and that puts the Sixers up four eighty two seventy eighth. The score would be going into the fourth Cleveland, though they would manage to build a lead to as large as five multiple times in the fourth quarter, including ninety with five minutes ago. With Joel Embiid came back in. The Sixers quickly ran a play fir him. He laid it in to cut the march
into three. He then assert himself on the defensive end with a key rebound on a block shot of Tristan Thompson. Seventy Sixers got some momentum rolling in Tobias Harris. He was in a key spot in the lake. Kick out Klark bas three, no good rebounded beat Sixers have it again, back out top to Josh Richardson for three. That's in and out. No Tobias gets it put back is good. Hallelujah. Tobias sticking with it personally and for the seventy Sixers collectively.
That made it ninety seven and ninety four. Harris, after the Sixers got a stop, would score a jumper at the falline to make it a one point game. The seventy Sixers would force a shot clock violation to get the ball back and the Sixers would after a jump ball once again regain possession, and that was set up the decisive play. Sixers down by a point. Josh Richardson drives it to the right wing, back out top Harris. He throws it into Joel and it beat jams it
with thirteen seconds to go for the league. So a high low pass from Harris to it Bead. He got great position inside on Thompson and it bead with a dunk. Harris factoring into each of the seventy sixers final three field goals of the game, the first two he scored in the third one which put the Sixers over the top, the dime to Joel for the jam. Sixers win at ninety eight ninety seven. They're now seven and three, while
the Cavaliers fall to four and six. Sixers shot forty five percent from the field, Cleveland forty four percent, six Ers eight of thirty eight from outside the arc, bets for twenty one percent. Cleveland just five of twenty one sixers plus one on the glass plus two on the offensive glass. They committed just fourteen turnovers, but ten in the second half complicated things after intermission for the Sixers,
Joel Embiide leading all scores with twenty seven. He also posted a game high sixteen rebounds as well, seventeen for Josh Richardson to go with five assists, fifteen for Ben Simmons plus five rebounds and six helpers. Ten points for for a concorkmaz eight for Tobias Harris, nine for Mike Scott off the bench, and seven for James Ennis. The third should also mention that Mike Scott was big in
the Sixers rebounding efforts. He had eights for the Cavaliers, twenty apiece for Jordan Clarkson off the bench, and Kevin Loves seventeen and twelve for Tristan Thompson. Seventy Sixers are on the road once again. They begin a three game trip tomorrow night against the Orlando Magic at seven o'clock. Then it's off to OKC for an eight o'clock game on Friday, followed by three o'clock rematch matinee with Cleveland on Sunday. I'm Brian Seltzer saying so long for now
one final time. The final score, seventy Sixers pulled out ninety eight ninety seven of the Cleveland Cavaliers you've been listening to Rewind. Look out for fresh episodes the day after every seventy six Ers game this season.
