You're listening to rewind, they'll listen back on press conferences, highlights and analysis from the seventy sixers previous game. All heil a man named cork Mose Furkey from Turkey. Terrific again a huge reason in putting the seventy Sixers over the top for a second straight game. Sixers beat these Chicago Bulls one eighteen one eleven. Fur Con Cork mois,
you cannot say enough about this guy. The last two games, seventy Sixers have needed someone to give them a shot in the arm, no question, and that has been Quark Mose. So nice to see him thriving in his role as a shooter off the bench, especially after some of the ups and downs he's been through in his three years as a pro. He has stepped up in the seventy Sixers have needed him in a big way and delivered.
After scoring thirty four points for a career high in Friday's win over the Memphis Grizzlies, give fur Con cork Mose thirty tonight, twelve of seventeen from the field, six of eleven from three point territory. That's thirteen three pointers. The last two games. Furcon went off in the first quarter, vaulting the seventy Sixers out to a thirty eight twenty five lead after one quirkmas Newly scored half the seventy Sixers points in the first quarter of action. He scored
seventeen of the seventy six ers thirty eight. The seventeen points he scored the most in a first quarter this season for any member or player on the seventy Sixers roster, and the seventeen points tied the highest scoring total in any quarter of any kind in any stage of the game for a Sixers this year. Josh Chrichinson in seventeen points in a game in January against the Indiana Pacers in the fourth quarter. But Furkon has just been absolutely massive,
especially as this game went on tonight. The Bulls, they're a young team, but they fight, they compete. They outscored the Sixers by eight in the second quarter, actually ended up outscoring the seventy Sixers between the third quarters by thirteen, and that results in tonight's game being tied at eighty three points going into the fourth. There was one stretch where it looked like the Sixers might have had this
game put away. If you were following the game closely, there was a run of five straight points by Tobias Harris that was followed up by a big stretch from Quark Mis between a three and a dunk. But then the Bulls battled back. The seventy Sixers, thanks for dwelling by three pointer, had enough to get by in the end. One day eighteen two, one eleven, the seventy Sixers went
for their second straight game at the podium. Right now we joined in progress Rett Brown feel way through whether posting him, whether keeping him on the perimeter or that that's still kind of a work in progress, or it is, but it's driven out of what the other team is doing. Like if teams sit in a zone, like you can find him in a high hole type thing. If teams are doubling him on every single catch, you get two choices.
You can force feed it into him and let him quarter back the gym and sort of play four and three behind it, or you can pick him, pop him and not let him play in a congested area. And that decision, that kind of world is always for me driven out of like some gut feel. Is he turning it over? Like does he look comfortable? How is his
left hand. You know, are we just putting him in a bad position where I can because he's versatile enough to do a bunch of things where I can make his life a little bit cleaner, picking and popping as an example. But it's driven, you know, mostly on how other teams defend him, how I think he's playing, how in sort of flow he looks, and you play him accordingly based on those decisions. Coach I dversing Firk on this confidence backing my offensively is the way he's been
able to get in the group lately. No, I haven't, but see the No I haven't. But the thing that I see, more than what the stat sheets shows is the reason I say that, Like we all see him bomb away and and uh you know, make some emphatic timely shots, long balls. You know, one of the balls that he had with Ben on just a busted play
and a flipout as an example. But I see, you know, him being coming a better pass, and you know what I'm gonna say, Like the defensive side of things, I see growth there and he's emerged to be one of our key players, you know, on a pretty good team. But his confidence is is certainly the the the highest sense I have coached him, But I say it again driven out of more than just sort of us seeing
him bomb away and make threes. Was there a little like vindication by you know, you and even the front office bringing him back when you know, maybe there weren't a lot offers from him, and then also you, even when he had his struggles, continuing to play him this year, Penn promoting you with this. I don't know if vindication is the word. What I do know is it's a
hell of a story. It really is. Because he was ours and for a time we weren't too sure if that was gonna, you know, continue on, and we because he was Owas for a period of time long enough to know that he's a good person, high character, loves
the game. I think that his time Overseas in the summer planning for the Turkish national team, where he featured a lot, I think that propelled him to coming back and really like putting his hand up quite quickly in preseason, and us paying attention the fact that we don't have like an abundance of sort of veteran wings that were like locked in two a spot also helped. Where it was a competitive situation. He combined the two environments and
to your point, he was away was it was. It's been a timely sort of relationship that he's certainly taken advantage of. Seventy six Ers beat the Chicago Bulls one, eighteen,
one eleven. Some postgame thoughts from Brett Brown. Thirty one points for fur Con Corkmas, twenty eight and twelve for Joel and beat plus four block shots, nineteen points, ten rebunds, ten assists and other double make that triple double for Ben Simmons, fourteen for Tobias Harris as the seventy Sixers knock off the Bulls to win their second in a row and improved to thirty three and twenty one. Tom
McGinnis had the call tonight's game. Tom so far on this homestand a cool sixty five point total for our man fur Con Quirk miles behind thirteen three pointers. We got to find out and have what he's having, right, He's unbelievable and as Gee rich Josh Richardson shared, you know the bench and like I said earlier, I think everybody in the arena when he catches it and shoots the three you expected to go in and you're kind
of shocked when it doesn't. That's the kind of tear he's been on and it's been an awesome thing to watch. And he's really helped the Sixers seventeen points in a quarter, one of the best quarters for a reserve in recent NBA history, going back all the way to like Luel Dang and Ben Gordon and Will Barton, some of the other guys that had done that, and just really helped lift the Sixers up and into the lead in then
an opening quarter with his performance. And you know, they really covered him well and he's able to break free get some layups. He and Simmons had that terrific exchange where Furcon stole the ball, batted at the bend, Simmons with a touch bass back to Furkon. This was late in the first half and fur Con from just inside the hash mark on that far side knocking down to three. Just pretty basketball, fun to watch, great entertainment, and he has been terrific. Seventy six Ers knock off the Bulls
one eighteen, one eleven for their second consecutive win. Thought too, I'm not sure about you that with about four minutes ago, Furkon with his second straight basket, that driving dunk on the curl that made it a ten point game. It seemed like the Sixers were in a pretty good spot of the bulls. They kept battling back, as they did really after falling down big time after the first quarter. There was Joel and beat in the end to connect
on a key three pointer. And some of the numbers for Joe tonite really really good and Joel e beat like twenty eight points, eight for seventeen, shooting twelve rebounds, four block shots. But getting to the free throw line, that was an area we could say the Sixers in an otherwise competitive game, we're able to clinch this one essentially where they outscored the balls by ten from the line, and Joe is a big reason why that for sure, in a game they win by seven and a bead.
First of all, he got Cornette with a couple of early fouls. Then they come in with Felicio, which, oh, by the way, those two guys scored the ball well, but they racked up the foules. Cornette ended up filing out Felicio then fouled Joel, and you're right, he was a dominant player. But I'd say defensively and again four blocks. But it's one of those things you almost have to be here to watch it, and I mean, certainly I
think you can catch it on TV. But the point is they like for instance, Satarronsky would go into the lane and then or Cody White, Kobe White dribbling into there and then realizing the beat is there, and then just the Sixers called that a fish hook or a nash where he dribble the ball through the lane and come out because they're not going in there. They know he's in there, and then every now and then they would try it and he would completely snuff out the play.
And that's the difference when a beat is in there. He is a force and one of the top defenders in our league in that position. So he had a huge impact. And then, oh, by the way, we're talking about all these players, and Ben Simmons had a triple double, so I mean, tremendous individual performances. There was certainly a pocket there down the stretch where the Sixers could have finished the game better. They had a spell of five
possessions where they turn it over four times. You know, they had a couple of missed opportunities with shots, but like you say, enough down the stretch and you can't let your guard down. And I think that's what happened in the second quarter a little bit and in the third, where you know, the Bulls they got everything. They're just trying to get better and improve and be competitive. They're young and they keep coming at you. And Levine, after no threes in the first half, had five and fifteen
points in the third. He's without question one of the top talents in the NBA. And I think the Sixers dropped their guard just a bit and that's what made it so competitive, but enough to hold off and beat Chicago and yet another home victory, twenty four overall in front of what a twenty one thousand plus one of the crowds of the year, Sixers adding to their league best home record. Ben Simmons leading the Eastern Conference now
with five trible doubles. It's funny because I actually thought there were stretches where whether it was him or batistiebel they were defending Zach Levine kind of all right, Like that that one possession early on when Ben fought over the pick on a dribble handoff that Levine and Cornette were trying to work and then Ben stole the ball away to lead to a shake Milton run out. Like
that was a great defensive play. But you're right, Levine is a pretty special talent, so fast with the ball, you know, and if you you know, once he gets that three point shot going, then you come out on him, you know, ever so slightly, and foom, he's buy it
for a jam. And you know, he's been a real bright spot for them, as you said, like maybe considered an All Star snub, but you know, with nineteen wins, they're probably it's too bad too with the All Star game right there in Chicago, but he's definitely got that
in his future. And then you know, just mentioned his three point shot and the skill set that you admire, his ability with the escape dribble boom boom, a couple dribbles behind the line and you know, you're still kind of recovering defensively, and he's already got the shot off. So he's got a real quick delivery, real hard worker, good player, and obviously it sounds like a really good guy. And certainly the Bulls they've got young talent, and you know,
like I said earlier, maybe coming into this game. You would have thought they would have been more of a picture or part of the picture in the East, but their injuries, they just cannot get any consistency, and most of their young players have been hurt throughout the periods on and off this season. Seventy six ers over the Bulls one eighteen when eleven will leave you with this time about Glenn Robinson the third and his debut ten points twelve minutes. Probably won't go like that every night
that he's out there in uniform. But he took what was presented to him in the game, moved well on a couple opportunities off the ball, Maan a nice cut to the basket for a dunk, and not a bad way to get the stint with your new squad, old squad going no, you're right. He and again, this is kind of like what Daddy as young does too, and that is you fill a gap if somebody you know drives the ball, you follow right through. Or in other cases, he came from the opposite side where you know you
can see where a guy's driving the ball. You're kind of angling in there for position for a potential rebound. And he made himself available and he went five for five. Every basket he scored was was right at the rim. And again, you know, I'm not exactly sure that Warriors play with motion, you know, like what his role was there,
but his role is going to be different here. He's gonna be called on to be like a spot up shooter and you're gonna probably see that as his you know, his role progresses with the Sixers certainly a little bit Tuesday, but then after the break, but tonight like perfect, you know, I mean, he scored five baskets. He might have had five dribbles, So very impressive and you expect a good things. Coach Brown has really talked about his defense and then I think he probably gonna get to start to see
Alec Burks a little bit as well. But so far furk On, you know, he ruled the night. You can't get away from that. Just an incredible performance and just like of all the talent in the building. Six and that's the other thing. Six six at, a twenty two year old from Turkey, had had the Philadelphia crowd in the palm of his hand to sort of speak with how he played and how they responded, No doubt about it. Great win for the seventy six ers tonight because it
was the latest one. Tom will speak on Tuesday, final game before the break, Sixers and the Clippers. All right, thanks, good night, seventy sixers over the Bulls one eighteen to one eleven. Let's hear how it sounded called by the one only Tom mcguinnis tonight. Furkon Corkmis early on was in a groove. It didn't stop throughout most of the night. But this is how he got himself gone. Here. Simmons out the corkmis fur Coon for three. It's good so a steel transition play and a runout and a three
by furk on Corkmas. Over to Corkmi, sidesteps a man shoot to three and good again. Furk on Quarkmus had knocked away by Corkmos. He makes a steel back to Simmons. Simmons the krkmos Quarkmis in the night right hand layp smooth sailing at fur con cark Bis is delivering again. Joel with it against police. He helped big bodies collide. Heyhead. He goes out to fur con for tree. It's good again?
Are you kidding? Made? Fur con cark Mos delivers another triple now you think that we'd be kidding you, but this is reality, for real, the truth. Fur con Corkmise has been playing at such an insane level the last two games. Those were some highlights from the first quarter. He helped the seventy six ers to a thirty eight twenty five lead after one. He scored seventeen points in
the first quarter alone. In period number two, the Bulls began to battle back, Ben Simmons doing his part to keep at that point the Sixers in front by double figures. Simmons one on one, Boe picked up his dribble. He goes to shake five to shoot. Milton mobs at Simmons with an allayum champ oh man up high down, hard right hand. Hello you nice feed shape built with it. I actually think that Simmons and Milton played pretty well together over the course of the last couple of weeks,
with Milton getting more and more minutes. The Bulls tightened things up towards the half the Sixers later the break was sixty two at fifty five in the third quarter. That gentleman fur con Corkmas continued to come up large and here's a steel by fur cod He goes to bed back to Corkmas deep three by fur Con is good oh Man, fur Con Cartmas and sevens putting on a clinic here and the Sixers go up by a
half a dozen. Seventy four sixty eight was the score at that point, though it was tied at eighty three heading into the fourth. Glenn Robinson the third making his debut a second time around with the seventy six ers tonight. He was here at the end of the twenty fifteen season, acquired in a trade from Golden State on Thursday, and he made the most of his minutes. Labine download spins and bead picks it up. Richardson forced to turnover down
the far sideline. Josh Richardson in on. Everybody jumps it back at Robinson with another lay up. Shosh just getting it done. He's connecting the dots. That's what Brett Brown says. He's a dot connector six in a row. Richardson his second game in a row off the bench since returning from injury at Glenn Robinson the third in double figures tonight. That made it ninety five to eighty seven down the stretch.
The Sixers needed some breathing room and breathing life right back into them as he has been on this homestand court. Mis Harris on the move, eight point lead, four minutes to go. Cork Mos with it, Domine cork Bas, Oh yeah, a right hand jam. It's Burke on Cork Mos taking over in Philly. Thirty one points to close things out. Joel Ebad put the seventy sixers right where they needed
to as time was winding down. Simmons to a beat, it beat shoots a date three and oh Man, well beyond the art it beat with a twenty seven footer and that makes it an eight point game. Seventy sixers going to win by seven tonight one eighteen one eleven. Final notes from the final statuet six or shoot fifty percent. The Bulls were forty nine and a half percent from the field, Sixers with eleven three point or Chicago with twelve. But one of the areas, one of the key areas
with the Sixers won the game tonight. From the free throw line, they got their fifteen more times than Chicago thirty two to seventeen, and they made ten more twenty three to thirteen, So that pivotal for the seventy sixers.
In their victory over Chicago. Looking at some of the individuals scoring notes, of course, there was fur Con Corkmas with his thirty one He was twelve to seventeen overall in six eleven from three, Ben Simmons with nineteen points, ten assists and also ten rebounds as he picks up a triple double, his fifth on the year. Twenty eight points, twelve boards for Joel and beat fourteen points for Tobias Harris,
who had some key shots down the stretch. Glenn Robinson the third ten points in twelve minutes in his first game back with the seventy sixers after a four and a half year hiatus. Sixers are now thirty three and twenty one. They have won two in a row and look to make it three straight to go into the All Star Game break. That would be a really great note and boost for this team given how things went
on the road last week. All the Sixers have are the Los Angeles Clippers, which are playing at Cleveland tonight, leading by twenty five in the third quarter. The Clippers, with a third best record in the West at thirty six and sixteen, should be great. You would figure that with an off day tomorrow, the Clippers could have both Kawhi Leonard and Paul George active and available, so one of the highlights of the home schedule this year the
Clippers at seven pm on Tuesday. You've been listening to Rewind, look out for fresh episodes the day after every seventy sixers game this season.
