This podcast is part of the seventy Sixers Podcast network search seventy Sixers podcast wherever you get your pods. This season is whole NATO's first with the seventy Sixers and his role as specialized, but that hasn't stopped him from enjoying his time with the team. We know how crude we are, the way we stick together. There's something something spect show on that team beyond basketball. Nato is a multifaceted guy. He's got a variety of interests and he's

kept busy during the NBA suspension. I'm doing more of the things that I could n't doing during the season. With the season set to restart, NATO's eager to get back on the floor and contribute to the Sixers title hunt anyway he can. I'm excited about when we get back to play. I don't know how it's gonna be, when it's gonna be, but something that I look forward to.

This is posted up with how ould Nato? Welcome to the final installment of Post It Up, presented by Caesar's Online, our mini cast series here on the broadcast that's been checking in on the seventy Sixers during the hiatus I'm Brian Seltzer. We hope you've enjoyed the first eight episodes and have the same experience here with episode nine. When Hoole Nato signed with the seventy six ers over the summer, he was confident that some of his best basketball was

ahead of him. I think I can bring spacing. I can shoot the bow from the outside, and I think that's gonna be that's gonna be a thing, probably the biggest thing for me and this team, and I'm just excited to start working. Prior to the COVID nineteen pandemic putting the NBA on pause, Nato had appeared in forty nine to the six or sixty five games, averaging four and a half points and one and a half assists

in eleven and a half minutes. Not only has the twenty eight year old been reliable ball handler, he shot the ball respectably two His three point percentage of thirty nine and a half ranks among the best marks of his career, and like any good vet, Nato has proven reliable and called upon. Take, for instance, the seventy six ers last second come from behind victory against the Portland Trailblazers in November Nato was instrumental in the comeback charge. Nato with the ball how on a drive off the

Classes got what a shot? How no No puts it up and the Sixers help once again crept with it bread and it probable layup as good. Nato was shown that an extended action he can fill the cup up a bit as well. He went for nineteen points back in January against Golden State and right before the Sixers final game prior to the league shutdown. He reached double figures in back to back appearances. Every time I'm on the bench, I'm kind of mentally ready and mentally in

the game. So if I have a shot, I try to take it, no matter what, you know, even if I'm not warm enough or if I'm not in the hiding of the game. I just tried to be aggressive and he turned out pretty well. Sometimes to me during this season, the approach paid off. Over the last three and a half months, Nato has split time between Philadelphia and Salt Lake City, where he spent the first four seasons of his NBA career. Nato is originally from Brazil. He grew up in a city about three hundred miles

north of riodition Arrow. After the season came to a halt, Nato kicked the tires on going back home, but circumstances didn't permit. Regardless of where he's been the past four months, communication with his six Ers teammates has been constant, especially with busy new twin dad Kyle O Quinn. Like Nato a season vat when I was in Fieling and he was in Feeling. We FaceTime every day. The fourteen days of quarantine, I talked to him like basically every day.

I saw him changing diapers with his babies. So it's been it's been fun. We have another group chat that we talked with Matisse and Tobias. I think we started one day we went to grab some wine. We started this group chat just organizing. We we talked a couple of times, but it's hard to stay in touch with everybody and talking to everybody. But the group chat is there and we've been we've been using it a lot. Without hoops to fill his nights and days, Nato admits

to going a little bit stir crazy. He found the beginning of quarantine particularly challenging, but eventually he fell into a routine, one that revolves around a holistic approach. I try to get at least two to three hours with things that are gonna work my mind or my body. So either I have a bike here that I've been doing almost every day just to try to stay in shape. I'm reading a lot, so I'm trying to keep my mind busy with other things other than just movies and TV.

I've been reading a lot, and then of course Netflix and Amazon Prime trying to find new shows to watch. Suits Ozarks and of course the viral quarantine hit Tiger Can were among the shows Nato benched early on. He's also been in the kitchen a bunch. I don't have one dish, but I mean my girlfriend gets mad at me every time because I just change all the recipes. Sometimes come out pretty well, sometimes not there well. But I think I like to be diverse in the kitchen,

you know, try to do um different things. I don't have one one thing that I that is my specialty. I think I think most of my plates is being been pretty good. As anxious as Neto has been to ramp up again, he ultimately embraced life at a slower pace.

It's being okay. I mean, it's been I've had a lot of time to talk to my family and like being in contact with my friends, which I couldn't do during the season because it's so so crazy and takes so much time for life, basketball and traveling and all that. So um, I think I've been I've been pretty good. There's no mistaking that Netto is a mellow show guy, but he's also got a low key, serious competitive street to him and he can't wait to tap back into that.

I think competing at games, I think that's what I missed the most, you know, because like right here, I can go out, i can go run outside, and I'm still gonna swear, I'm still gonna get my exercise done. But just they compete, and seeing my teammates playing well and cheering for them and seeing them cheering for me too, I think that's what I missed the most from from basketball. By the way, you gotta check out Whole's ignato O eight.

His latest post is a video of him doing a pretty sweet three sixty one handed duncan SloMo on a practice court. It's very impressive. Anyhow, back to Hoole the competitor, just how much do his juices start flowing when he's out there on the floor. Well, he told us this story from the seventy six or his March fifth game at Sacramento where he exploded for an outrageous fourteen points in the third quarter. I remember a guy Understands just talking a lot of crap, and he kind of got

me going too. I think he was like yelling at me at the first half where I didn't play pretty well, so he was talking a lot, and then I don't know if you can see, but after a couple I think my second tree I looked at him and he was just kind of disappointing we might perform. So that was that was pretty good that I got to play well on that game, having this guy out there, and I think I try to take every little thing as motivation and try to guide me going. As Prett Brown

likes to say, hold Nato is good people. He's a quality, dependable point guard who's got solid playoff experience. In other words, he's just the type of guy you want in your corner when the stakes are at their highest, which is going to be the case for Nato in the seventy six ers and not too long. The way we stick together is something something special. We've had stretches that we played great basketball, and I think we lost only two games at home, which is impressive, but then on the

road we lost a lot of games. So I think just the way the chief the team doesn't change the chemistry and locker room no matter what's going on with the results. That's something that that is special for us. This has been posted up with hold Nato, presented by Caesar's All.
