This podcast is part of the seventy Sixers Podcast network search seventy Sixers Podcast wherever you get your pods. Whatever big plans the seventy Sixers have for the rest of the twenty nineteen twenty season, there's no disputing that Joel Embiid is going to have a significant say, and last we saw him, he very much looked the part of a three time All Star getting primed for a playoff run.

He is two for two from Beyond the Night. He is very much better and Bed would probably be among the first to admit that, despite maintaining an impressive stat line this year, at least before the highus was different from him. But the plan was always to make sure the big man was ready when it mattered most, and that sure seemed to be the direction things were headed three months ago. It was at that stage where you don't bet again, still embid. That's what it makes us

a real contender. And now with the seventy Sixers set to start anew and Beat is eager to pick up where he left off. Something that whenever other most Rated comes this is Posted Up with Joe Ellenbad. Welcome to the latest installment of Posted Up presented by Caesar's Online, a mini cast series here on the broadcast checking in on the seventy six Ers during the hiatus, with new episode's debuting every week. I'm Brian Seltzer. For each of the four seasons that Joel Embiad has played for the

seventy Sixers, there's been a different narrative. His rookie year in twenty sixteen seventeen was the big breakout Lebron James Bob They are loving it at Wells Fargo Center. The following season, it was the great affirmation, as the seven footer showed the NBA at the impressionable age of twenty three the full might of his potential drives. The next year, twenty eighteen nineteen, the theme was Elite Refinement. We already knew em Beat was excellent, but with an increased workload,

he proved he could do that much more. Joella Beat around one man throws it off the classrooimself. He slammed the Joella be the creative past and Jared Dudley in his way. This season was supposed to be the redemption, with Embid channeling the pain from last May's excruciating second Round Game seven exit against the Toronto Raptors to help fuel seventy six Ers championship run. So you're coming off one of the that's a really tough laws. Individually, How

does this drive you? I'm sure he's going to motivate me a lot. I'm excited. I'm excited about all the walk I'm about to put in, and I still have a lot of potential. I feel like a lot of people haven't seen what I can really do. There's no question that in his forty four appearances leading up to the NBA suspending play in March, and Bead had some great moments. But in between these memorable performances, Embiid, relative of course, to his own supreme baseline, experienced ups and downs.

Injuries were a factor that can't be denied. But at various times during the season, and Beat spoke openly about not feeling like himself. He touched upon that topic again after a recent workout at the seventy six Or training complex after the All Star Game. I'm menta, they just completely change first part of the season. It was enough to mustand and not even closed. Yes, and Bead looked

like a refreshed, reinvigorated beast. After the All Star Break, he played in four full games and averaged twenty seven and a half points in twenty eight minutes, nearly four and a half points more in two and a half few minutes per game than before the break. And Bead was also shooting fifty three percent after the break from forty six and a half percent before it. And there was also this he was generating three more free throws made and attempted per game as well. Before the season's

got shut down. I was enough bath to just you know, change the all and just go out and they could happen. This is the version of Joel Embiid the seventy Sixers will need should the season indeed resume. In the aftermath of COVID nineteen hitting the United States, Embad understandably took the situation pretty seriously. The sixers last game was against Detroit and a few days later one of the Pistons players returned to positive test. The first two months of

the pandemic and Bid stayed mostly at home. Recently, he started to ramp up and said he's feeling really good. We'd be going. I did pretty much for the past four weeks, about six times a week, so you're trying to get a hand start, get body fall one of us com me. It's a picture that's becoming more and more clear, with the NBA and the Players Association having agreed upon the parameters for a return to play plan centered around games at the ESPN Wide World of Sports

Complex in Orlando. During Joel Embiad's ascent into the upper echelon of superstars in the NBA, he's consistently used his platform to do good. He's made Susta Angel donations to the United Nations Children's Fund to eight at risk kids in his native Cameroon, and supported the Boys and Girls

Club at Philadelphia. Then, in April, as the coronavirus was surging to its peak and Bead acted swiftly along with seventy six Ers managing partner Josh Harris and co managing partner David Blitzer, he pledged one point three million dollars to pen Medicine to provide critical support for COVID nineteen

treatment efforts. Being one from where I grew up, you know, I saw a lot of struggle, and you know, being in my position where I have to change people's lives and to help people who know you just you just meet um. You know, I didn't even have to day twice about it. It's just the way I am. That's the way my parents raised me. That's the way I was brought up. And then added the fact that you know, going up in Africa, in Camerone and you know, all the struggle that I saw used all your wife from

me to make that kind of jests. Like his teammates and Beat has had time to actually have time since the NBA's shut down, rarely want to lack for confidence. Joel is a huge FIFA video game head. He's a self proclaimed career mode guide meeting. He usually plays against the computer, but in Quarantine, he decided to mix things up a little bit and try Ultimate Team mode, which likes to assemble a roster of present and former grades. That's how my sister was playing it, and then I

was like, who's gonna check it out? So I won't. And you know, you gotta build a team. And he's a bunch of I don't know, they're just you know, anybody, anybody can build a team. Man, every player can basically have can be waited ninety five. So he's not well football where you actually compete against a god where you choose a regular team and then you compete god. Because I've played online and I'm abutable the ultimate team experience was But I say, when he comes to that, he's

just crazy. So I gave up on that because the guys on that they have, you know, teams that I've waited not do, not like he's in power. Well, like he's just and it's crazy. But yeah, I find out that I wasn't that good and I should just stick up to my career more and playing online. Another one of the beats just like us activities during this break was binging on the last Dance. He says he identifies with parts of Michael Jordan's story. So, h a lot

of similarities. Um, and a lot of people I've told me that, and you know, I always quite about it, but I kinda saw that. Um, you know, there's a lot of similarities, and you know, I can also be I can also be that guy. I just need to, you know, keep putting in the walk and that's what I've been doing. But in order for Jordan to be the guy, he had to get help from other guys, and in the case of Joel Embiid, he's certainly surrounded by lots of talent. He and his teammates have used

group chats and zoom to stay in touch. Fellow All Star Ben Simmons is one of the players who Embiad has been talking to on a regular basis. Of all the relationships and beats careers defined by, it's his connection with seventy six ers fans that stands out the most. When the team is in South Philly and he's at his peak, it's like a rock star returning for a hometown show. That makes us go. You know, when you're playing for you got to play holiday and you've got

to do all. I'm missed up more than you notice. As for Rockday, you know, going on than fighting for them. While details about the NBA's return to play arrangement continue to get ironed out, we know the immediate solution won't involve crowds or home arenas and beach. Short term outlook is as practical as it is human. It also sounds highly motivated. Always still one is safe. But you know, as athlete, that's why not get pay full something to

prove right enough? Feeling like whenever an unfortunate it comes, that's called to this has been posted up with Joel Embiid, presented by Caesar's Online.
