This is a playoff edition of seventy six Ers Rewind presented by Geico. Time Now to listen back to reaction
from the team's most recent postseason. So much uncertainty of the availability of the Big Fellow Joel Ebad in both Game number three and Game number four, but once game time started, the Big Fellow was available to come out and help the Philadelphia seventy Sixers when they needed him the most, with thirty one point, sixteen rebounds and seven assists and a one twelve one o eight victory in Brooklyn at Barclays Center. Welcome to the Sixers postgame show
here on the Sixers Radio Network'm Divine Givens. We will be joined by Tom McGinnis back at Barclays Center. You just heard the head coach winning head coach Brett Brown with a three one series lead of the best of seven in this matchup against the Brooklyn Nets, and once again Joel and beat strong and huge in this victory over the Nets in thirty one minutes and thirty seconds, twelve twelve points, twenty two attempts from the field, one of three from deep, converting all six of his free throws,
large on the glass, with sixteen rebounds, tremendous in the fourth quarter, thirty one overall points. His point total in the fourth quarter twelve to go along with six rebounds, three assists, one block shot, three turnovers. You have to highlight it. But big down the stretch for the seventy Sixers, as we do connect with Tom mcguinnis back at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. In the time. We know that the teams, of course, can do so many different
things with so many different players. These are very good NBA talented players. But when Joel Evan bad missing the last game, the Sixers did things a little bit different. Similar approach this game here in game number four, but when they needed him most, he came through large, Yes
he did. And you know, just kind of reflecting back certainly to my commentary, like, well it's rough, button Bead, And I said, you know, especially hearing kind of what Ben said that Joel got ticked off, and I thought they both did. I thought they both came out of that third quarter skirmish with a little you know, again, when you're involved in something like that, it just it
ratches up your adrenaline. How could it nod that that's what happens, and I think him be like I said, you know, even though he had a good first half and everything, he only played like eleven minutes in the first half. He came in at the very tail end to make those two free throws with under five seconds
to go. But and like I said, they threw him off his game a little bit with how they were guarding him with Dudley and Ronde, Hollis Jefferson, and all of a sudden, I think that that little kind of crystallize that altercation where Joel said, you know what, I'm going to go back to being physical and playing some bullyball and getting that ball on the block and making plays. And it came in a variety of fashions like remember
those high low sequences where Simmons Feduel. It was sandwiched around the time out from the top of the key area they were fronting. Ronde was fronting Joel, and again he's only six seven at Joel's seven feet, and the bed was right by the basket and he was able to score it. Now, the Sixers, both Simmons and to Be missed a lot of close rain shots around that basket that may have made it a little bit easier that both both of them turn the ball over a
lot that can cost you a playoff game. And trust me, is this thing. If the Sixers are fortunate enough to move on, you're not beating the likes of Toronto, Boston, Milwaukee, whomever with twenty plus turnovers in a playoffs. It just won't happen. Brooklyn themselves and I hate to say this sounds critical, but not ready for the moment. Okay, they
an inbound ball, they couldn't successfully inbound the ball. Jared Allen game on the nine, had the ball ripped away from himself and there was another turnover as well, so that really cost him. They didn't get looks. As a coach, I think you can live with it if you're Kenny Atkinson going away. Well it just didn't fall. But to not even get a shot off, to not even be able to inbound the ball, that's tough. And they struggled
in that scenario, and they had this game. It's but DeAngelo Russell makes that three and that was on a second chance opportunity. You're like, all right, they're not going away, and look it's not done by any stretch. They came into Philadelphia they won that game at the Center, they won there in the regular season, and you know, early on in this series, I think you could say about Brooklyn they're not afraid of the Sixers. Well I don't.
I don't. They're not quaking in their boots, but I think they're gonna have a new found respect with the way the Sixers have handled this, particularly winning in their building twice here in this Games three and Game four, And that's part of what we see so far after
this one. And Tom to isolate what you pointed out about Simmons and Embiid in the third quarter after the flagrant foul and the two technicals in the ejection, the play where Ben Simmons got the layup in the foul seventy five seventy as Ben was going out of bounds kind of looking at the crowd after the make you could see Joel Embiid just animated walking over to Ben Simmons. And we don't see that much from those two are really much from the team at all. They do it
in a in a kind of a subtle way. But as you pointed out, that was one that really stood out to me as he he sought him out after that play to say let's go absolutely and look, there is The intensity in a playoff game is just as Brett Brown said, it's a whole different deal than the regulars, and the stakes are so high, the possessions are magnified, and those two guys fuel all. This is the highest
basketball competition. Obviously, the playoffs, the finals certainly would be rated a little bit differently in terms of this what we're talking about. But how could they not get fired up and pull from one another and realize that the intensity is such a big thing. They're the leaders, they're the leaders of this ball club. Of course, Butler has not been here nearly as long Tobias Harris only twenty seven games. But those two guys have brought the Sixers
back to prominence. And they're so talented, and again they had some great games. They had their moments in this game,
but they certainly helped the Sixers win this victory. Here today over Brooklyn, Tom mc ginnis joining US Life and Barclay Center, site of the Sixers victory one twelve, one oh eight over the Brooklyn Nets, now a three one series lead, looking to close things out on Tuesday with the opportunity at home at the center eight o'clock tip right here on the Sixers radio network and time, speaking of to Bias Harris want third straight game with a
very good offensive performance, twenty four points, collecting eight rebounds, still still boarding even with him beat out there, six assists as well, and no turnovers in a game high forty three minutes and twenty six seconds time, And this is what we've been waiting for, this is what Elton Brand acquired him for. Absolutely, and I think we probably should mention his defense as well, because you know, when
again the way they play, they spreads you out. You're out there on an island, even if you know, they just throw it to your guy in your garden, him on the wing. So Harris did a good job in that regard. Collectively as well, you have to, you know, kudos to the Sixers to hold them to just seventeen points, but absolutely to Bias, particularly without Jimmy in there, you need that secondary and that third scorer, especially with Reddick not really having a big game until he made that
third basket for him, that three that he made. But Tobias Harris was steady throughout in the entire game, and like you said, varied with the rebounding, the assists, and the scoring. Yeah, absolutely, no doubt about it. He's been really good. And finally, Mike Scott, we cannot ignore what he did tonight making that big three pointer to put the game one one oh eight four to seventy sixes. Last game time, he was oh four from the field and did not contribute point wise, but they blew out
the nets. It did not really matter. But he never shies away from an opportunity to make an open shot, and he never hesitates when those shots are presented to him. Now, and that's the mentality you have to have, and he's certainly been around long enough to know that, and he's made big shots. He had that game right to bound. He had six threes in a game of him not mistaken. Yeah, so in a corner three obviously, that's something these guys work on all the time. Great look a great fine
by him, Bead. And that's the playoffs and to me, and it's something you delight in even in the regular season when you win a hard fought game, particularly on the road. But my point is the NBA game at forty eight minutes is so long, and you need multiple players to step up at different times, and Mike Scott came in there. James Ennis is another guy you have to give credit to because he was an impactful player
in this game. And that's what it takes. It takes a team, and it takes different guys at different time doing different things, chipping in, making defensive plays, because getting through screens, all of the things that make up the chemistry and the unity of a team game and a team victory, and that certainly was on display here. As a sex she is able to pull this off on
the road and win game four by four. Well, Tom, an exciting win and game number four very reminiscent of the Miami winning and as you were there of course against the Miami Heat one O six, one h two last year's playoffs in the quarterfinals as well, came back and took care of business in a getaway game and game number five. Hopefully we have the same result on Tuesday. Listening for you call at eight o'clock. All right, Devon, we'll talk to you there and Solong about to see
you later. Save trip back Tom again, it's live from the Barclay's Center. And yes, the Miami Heat series last year's similar result a four point win come back to Philadelphia and close things out in five games at the Center, and again that will be an eight o'clock tip if you have not heard, it is out now eight o'clock tip. Sixers Nets Game five Tuesday Night live from the Center. And as outside of Joel and Beating to Bias Harris and their strong performances, we cannot ignore Ben Simmons and
his very good game. Although he did not have the same point total as he had last game with the thirty one points, but tonight very efficient seven of twelve this afternoon part of me. Seven of twelve from the floor in thirty eight minutes fifty three seconds, contributing fifteen points, eight rebounds, eight assists. Did have the four turnovers, as Tom talked about, when you get to the next rounds,
the later rounds, you have to protect the basketball. He has been much better over the course of the series. But a tremendous game again from Ben Simmons. He keeps that strong play. Jimmy Butler with his eleven points in the twenty four minutes and three seconds that he played before he was ejected in the third quarter, four of six from the floor, a big three pointer that we point out that he had earlier in the game from Joel and beat a big one when the team needed
it in the second quarter. Maybe that'll be one of our highlights. We'll see how that goes off the bench. Twenty two points total for the Sixers bench. And even when you have similar things, small things like Jimmy Butler being ejected and you need to now tinker with the lineups a bit, as Brett Brown had to do. But t J McConnell went at one point towards the end
of the quarter. TJ did make a short jumper for his only two points of the game, but as we know, with the score of the way it turned out only a four point win. Every point counts some misfree throws from Tobias Harris and Boba Marijanovic in the stretch in third quarter. Small little points like the two points from t J McConnell come into play at some point of the game, as it did tonight again with the six
this afternoon. With the Sixers winning one twelve, one h eight on the other side, we will get to those highlights called by Tomy Guinness. This is the Sixers postgame show. One twelve, one h eight Sixers up three one in the series. Your home is important. That's why Geico helps make it easy to save on homeowners insurance. Because home

That's in five, very similar to last year's playoff quarterfinals against
the Miami Heat. Let's get to some highlights. JJ Reddick starting things off in the first quarter from deep one of his three mates from behind the three point line. Here's JJ Reddick from the corner for three at good the Sixers hit bound. Butler got at the jj at Reddick pors in the three. First lead of the afternoon for the Sixers at eleven the head JJ Reddick overall on the night on the afternoon, three of eleven from the floor at three of nine from deep for his
nine points. De'angelo Russell coming right back fifteen thirteen. On this play, bar Simmons hasn't knocked away, had its stolen by Dudley de'antelo. Russell stops fires three ball bang, it's stolen. A big time break after a steal at Brooklyn has gone back at front bike two and they were up by nine after one thirty three. Twenty four. Sixers start things off really fast in the second quarter. Jimmy Butler, as we know, we did not get a chance to see him in the third quarter. Great play by Joel
and Bead recognizing Jimmy Butler in the corner. Here's a beach hold up to the lane one on one with Ronnie Hollas Tefferson. They start to double him in the corner. Jimmy Butler three ball bang, it's good, good fight. Nice played by Joel double covered cross court skip, far right side, baseline trade. Jimmy Butler puts him quick recognition by the big fellow as the double team came, hitting Jimmy Butler
for his loan three on the afternoon. He finished the afternoon again with eleven points for six, shooting one of two from deep for the Veterans. Swing man James and is giving good minutes as you's heard Tom again his say, also with a three point himself. Jimmy Butler the Dubias Harrison of the lane out to Annis. He's up a corner three one time. Yeah, James Das Parson a triple and the Sexers have regain laid forty five forty four.
Did not stop there. We know we'll get to a big one of course by Mike Scott later on to ultimately win the game. Mike Scott with another three point of four the Philadelphia seventy sixers in the second quarter. Here's Tobias in the lane, back out to the near side Scott for three. Got it. Mike Scott on target. Nice feed by Harris and it's a one point game. Oh fifty three fifty two nets at that point. At the end of two for the seventy sixes and the
Brooklyn Nets, the score was sixty three fifty seven. Tobias Harris with a fantastic afternoon with twenty four points and driving layup converting at the room. Here's DeAngelo Russell Joel blocked out sections on the run, good deepense by a beat Simmons to Harris in a Dudley layup up and good right around Jared Dudley. Tobias Harris scores. The ball took a little body contact, sixty seven fifty nine. At
that point, the score sixty seven sixty one. When everything just started to go haywire in Brooklyn as the fouls and the technicals and the ejections took place. But once everything seemingly calmed down, that's when Ben Simmons goes hard to the basket for the finish. He's got twelve. The gaer seven just dumps it. He dumps some on the left hand down the right side over Jared Allen. What
a play by Ben Simmons. The last two field goals for the sexual very athletic play before that in bad with the leaning floater to make it sixty nine sixty three. Simmons follows up with a layup and the foul to make it seventy five seventy Brooklyn carras Lavert, though trying to pull away the nets in the third quarter, called upside Labert Labert knock it down Ennis and now Labert for three s. N Us recovers, but Labert puts the Paris Labert and Spencer good with it currently offense up
load for Brooklyn. Nice adjustment by head coach Kenny Atkinsons, who insert carras Lavert in the starting lineup. He finished the afternoon with twenty five points on nine of eighteen, shooting six assists in five rebounds as well. Ninety one eighty three was to score at that point. Six Is add another basket to make it ninety one eighty five. Going into the fourth quarter of Ben Simmons to Ennis for layup to make it ninety one eighty nine. Joel Ebid then goes back to back baskets to make it
one oh one ninety eight. Ben Simmons double team quick pass to Joel and Bead for this Beatton Simmon's out on left side got it by Joe Harris, he drives he pushes, he picks it up. He goes to Joel Head a champ hit be with a fight jam Bet Sippeth in the dish one o one, one hundred Brooklyn. That's when the momentum really started to swing for Philadelphia, and beat with another layup one oh two, one oh one, eight straight points for your all star center D'Angelo Russell,
though was not having it that. Russell fakes the three. Russell shoots a three headed Piangelo Russell with a dagger. Brooklyn leads by two, one oh six, one oh four. How about this offensive rebound by Ben Simmons JJ Reddick with a quick counter Bet Simmons going right up. Jared Allen shoots in the label the right hand too hard. No good got his own rebound out the Ruddick for the lead. He's good. J J Reddick. He a three
had the sixers half pack of the lead. Again, quiet afternoon for JJ Reddick in Brooklyn, but nothing bigger than that one for him to give the seventy six is a one point lead. Joe Harris then with a backdoor cut to lay up over Joel and b to make it one oh eight, one oh seven. But we're wondering what's gonna happen. Who's gonna get the big shot to give the seventy sixers to win. How about this man right here, Mike Scott along the air sideline, runs out
top Harris, cut into the ball. He goes into Tobias Harris. Harris pulls up Lobson into Joel If he dropped it to the corner bike Scott play the top of good bike. Scott range in a corner pray at the Sixers go
out bike two. Final field goal for the team as they went to the free throw line, Tobias Harris to knock down two free throws to give them the four point advantage one twelve, one oh eight, but a huge shot by Mike Scott acquired at the trade deadline by Elton Brand along with Tobias Harris, am Boby Marianovitch, and Elton Brand pointed out how Mike Scott was not just a throwin. He's a veteran who has been in postgame experience, some big games. Making it to the Eastern Conference finals.
This is not an opportunity that he will shy away from. And we saw that this afternoon in the victory one twelve one h eight with a huge three pointer. He was overall on the afternoon, three or six from the floor, two or four from deep, eight points, eight rebounds in twenty six minutes and forty nine seconds. Just strong play
from the bench. Overall contributions all around, and the Sixes again up three one in the series as they head back to Philadelphia Tuesday night, eight o'clock tip and you will hear that certainly right here on the Sixers Radio Network in the Home of Sixers Basketball once again, one twelve, one oh eight. The Sixers came away with twenty turnovers on the afternoon, but they were lucky to get away from that. Brooklyn very protective of the basketball fourteen, but
some bad ones late in the game. Sixers score fourteen points off of those turnovers at that Brooklyn committed the Toronto apartment the Brooklyn. That's twenty five points off the Sixers twenty turnovers. But everything played out the way it needed to play it out. Eight more field goal makes by the seventy Sixers at the end of the game.
The free throws down the stretch, they made them, and once again they dominated on the glass fifty five forty two, still assisting the basketball twenty five assists on forty four mate baskets. Everybody can take a little bit of a deep breath, but do not underestimate that Brooklyn team because they do play the Philadelphia seventy six is very tough. We will await that matchup on Tuesday night again eight
o'clock tip right here on the Sixers Radio Network. The seventy six is look to close out the Brooklyn Nets at home game number five here in Philadelphia once again to score one twelve, one oh eight.
