This is a playoff edition of seventy six Ers Rewind presented by Guyko. Time now to listen back to reaction from the team's most recent postseason game. It came down to the final seconds. Great theater, great drama, and that's what you ask for in a game seven. Unfortunately, the Philadelphia seventy Sixers due not come out on top, ending their twenty eighteen nineteen campaign, losing ninety two to ninety in Game seven in Toronto thanks to a great play
by a great player and Kawhi Leonard. Hello all, welcome to the Sixers postgame show here on the Sixers Radio Network. I am Divine givens here with you. We will reconnect and in just a second with Tom McGinnis live from
Scotia Bank Arena. We have already heard from head coach Brett Brown, losing coach Head coach Brett Brown, as the season has ended, and tonight again one more time, ninety two ninety the Toronto Raptors on a last second shot by Kawhi Leonard along the baseline, fading away with the contestant Joel embiid gets the role, gets the bounce and the role to finish off the seventy six twenty eighteen nineteen season and something that it was a great run
this year, a great opportunity for the seventy six or some things that will certainly talk about that could have played out in a different way and maybe the overall game would have turned out differently, but unfortunately not the case for this basketball team tonight. As the season now comes to an end in Game seven, let's now head back to Scotia Bank Arena to check in with the
Sixers radio voice Tom Againnis and Tom. As we start off, I can't help but to really jump right towards the end at the three thirteen mark with the time out happened by Philadelphia after miss shot by the Toronto Raptors eighty five, eighty five and immediately come out and a turnover on possession. And then another situation right after a good defensive play, good defensive series by the Sixers, another turnover and as you pointed out, they did not make it and make it down in the paint area to
at least get a shot off and give themselves an opportunity. Well, you're right, and it comes down to execution. And let's be honest, they you know they they had a guy who's one of the great closers in the game, Leonard
forty one points makes the game winning shot. And to your point, the Sixers with a Gamel and I were unable to get to clean execution where they weren't able to get a really good shot, and the you know, Leonard Kawhi Gasol cutting off Jimmy Butler and the Sixers exchanging that ball back and forth, and then Jimmy tried to step back shot on Mark Gasol and Gasol got got a piece, so you know, they closed out. And when you're playing at thirty five feet away getting double teamed,
it's it's very difficult. Let's just go to their head coach, Nick Nurse for a brief moment here he encapsulates the win. From their perspective, it looks like it's going in. Let's think it was going in the whole time. To me, I thought it was, but just again, I thought it was. Obviously it's a nice lucky bounce, right, but I thought we were very unlucky for a lot of that game. So it came back to us a little bit balanced out.
Kyle didn't have Kyle didn't seem to have the greatest scoring nights, but his contribution would have been as good as he's had all year. Maybe the way he played all night. Yeah, I really was impressed with his defense, Doug. I thought he was. He was being so alert and aggressive on his switch outs, right, You just every time you saw an opening coming there, he was taking it
away and obviously had that huge steal. And I think we had back to back shot clock violations and that was getting ready to be a third one, and he got to it just in the nick of time. So he was again he was. He played a lot of minutes. I think he played the whole second half, and he was. He was great down the stretch defensively. That's Nick Nurse, the Raptors coach to Vinyl throw it back. Yeah, I
just want to give you Lowry's numbers. He played it just over thirty nine minutes, like coach said, he played a lot of time. So he had ten points, six assists, sixte bounds, two steals, he took two charges. He read that play. It's Kyle Lowry. Yes, he's the guy who loved to hate as an opponent, but he is an awful, good, winning basketball player, and his time here in Toronto has been incredible. He's made the All Star team five times in a row. His most recent seventh game thirty five
points against the Heat. He knew he wasn't going to have those numbers, but they don't win that game without his crucial performance and the way he stepped up and made plays for them absolutely and protecting the basketball as well, only two turnovers in that thirty mount nine minutes in three seconds. Time again his life from Scotia Bank Arena
after the Sixers lost ninety two ninety time. The other thing that we have to jump to, the Sixers really controlled the glass in this series for a majority of the games, maybe five out of the six games before tonight. But Toronto getting the better of the seventy six is specifically on the offensive glass sixteen to five that advantaged, and some key buckets coming off of those and some
rebounds down to stretch. Yeah. No, and that that is a direct carryover or residual carryover of having to double Leonard. Like I was saying in our postgame chat with Serge Ibaka, so Joelle is kind of rotating roaming. He's he's not the primary guy guarding Kawhi oftentimes. That was Jimmy or Ben mostly those two, specifically Simmons. But when you're mark is embeat is watching him and trying to stay close.
If there's a block opportunity, he goes and then he's got to relocate and come back and get a body on Ibacca. Well, Ibaki a surge is just you know, so fast off his feet and he's reading. As an offensive rebounder, you're finding the gaps. You know, your your peripheral visions where the ball is, but you're reading. And he found those openings and he was crucial for them. I mean that that second chance points category was they won. They won that number by six, and they had fifteen
offensive rebounds. So you're right through the large majority of the series six or with the length and the you know, the overall size and depth, it hurt Toronto, but not in this game when it mattered most absolutely. And the turnover battle once again won by the Toronto Raptors with ten turnovers for them seventeen for the seventy six ers. They a seven point advantage in terms of points off
thirteen to twenty one. The seventy six ers not really capitalizing I mean part I mean the Toronto Raptors are capitalizing. It did capitalize off the six is miscus tonight? Yeah? They did? But divan and again this is after such a heartbreaking ending. You know, you're looking, you're at least looking for overtime. Maybe fans don't want to hear this, but as close as that was, as inefficient as these Sixers were down the stretch, it's the first quarter, you
know what I mean. And that was two and a half hours ago. Like I said, it may not be you know exactly what people are focusing on. But the Sixers started out two of thirteen. They scored thirteen point. How many times were we at the center with the thirty nine point first quarter? Thirteen points in the biggest game of the year, And so that and the only thing that made it halfway palatable is that the Raptors
were almost as equally inefficient. I mean they it was seven to six, the Sixers actually took the lead, and then Toronto scored eating a row, and that would be another thing. In the third quarter, the Sixers scores sixteen points in a row. They were feeling great, but then the Raptors close out the quarter on a seventeen to seven run. So We've heard a thousand times over it's
a game of runs. Well, they had the most pronounce they had an answer, and that's what Brett Brown talked about pregame, and that is there will be a defining moment and the team that pushes through and as Nick Nurse said, and gets lucky will win. And that's what happened. They persevered, they were better down the stretch. They got unlucky bounce from an all world player in Kawhi Leonard with forty one points. He had forty five, thirty nine,
forty one, thirty three. He was the difference in the series. And that's why you go out again. Both these teams made major moves right before the season, during the season at all for this point and the seventy sixers, you know, they made big moves as well, but Kawhi Leonard comes in and he was the difference in this playoff series. Final one for you. Back to back fifty win seasons
for this basketball team. The acquisitions that you point out that were made during the season in both November and at the trade dint let trade deadline in February time. Just a quick overview of another exciting season and what's to come well, for sure, I mean the Sixers, that's the thing. I mean, it takes a little while to
kind of come down. It's a heartbreaking defeat for the Sixers, but as you say, Brett Brown, back to back fifty one win seasons, that hadn't been done, Like there's only a few guys, Billy Cunningham, Alex Hannum, it just hasn't
been done. Larry Brown wasn't able to do that. So certainly ranking up there with two of the best back to back seasons to get to this stage, and yet I think the aspirations were a lot higher by everybody around, both with the team and around in terms of the fan base, and understandably so, I mean this was a potent first five and yes they did not have a lot of time together, but other than the playoffs, and
that's the other thing. I mean, there's a bit of an asterisk here with this playoff within Bead and the fact that he wasn't one hundred percent. That's tough when your best player is not at his best because of illness. I don't think anyone saw that coming. But for the Sixers, considering where they were and now where they've come, as Brett Brown said, these young players, everybody, I mean, as a fan base, we're not going to forget. But this will be a game they'll they'll never forget the Sixers.
They certainly played better in Round two than as opposed to last year. And I'll just say one thing. You know, last year when the Sixers lost the two games in Boston, they come back home and the third game was in Philadelphia on a satur Day, like almost a year ago, right, and it got away. Boston makes plays, Sixers got out maneuvered a little bit there down the stretch. You could
picture the Horford plays. Yes, well in this series, Game four was there and the Sixers turned it over, and that they win that game, and then they play like they did in games say who no, they might not have been a Game seven. That Game four, to me is commensurate with Game three in the second round last year against Boston. And that to me, like I said at the time, the one that got away, It comes down to the the last second shot here in the in
the incredible finish. But again, if you go back and you get into the guts of a series, that is one I think the Sixers had they won that game and money taken on a different, a different ending. Well the time. I believe this is my third year contributing on pre and post and majority of the post game show. I cannot thank you and Brian Seltz are enough for the opportunity and another fun season. Thank you so much out at the Bond. Thank you did a great job.
Appreciate it and thank you. Save trip back and we'll certainly connect somewhere down the line with Tom McGinnis. As the twenty eighteen nineteen season comes to an n last second shot by Kawhi Leonard. Ninety two ninety, they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals to face the Milwaukee Bucks. The seventy sixers well, a lot of questions now getting ready for the offseason. This is the Sixes postgame show
on the Sixers Radio network. Devon gives on the other side, we will give you the audio highlights of everything that happened in this game. In the ninety two ninety loss in the Eastern Conference semifinals. They always told Will he was too short to play basketball, but Will never listened. We'll let his work ethic do the talking for him. Always in the gym, always running drills. Will knew where there was a will, there was a way, and he
was Will. But then after a second child was born, he realized the pros were all way better than him. So Will gave up and buried his high tops in a cheerful ceremony. But one day he heard that Geico could save money on car insurance, so he switched and saved a bunch, which was awesome. Raptors ninety two, Sixers ninety. The season comes to an end on a last second shot thanks to Kawhi Leonard. This is the Sixes postgame show.
I'm divine givings with you as we look back to the game overall how things played out, the ups and downs of this game, coming down to that final shot by Kawhi Leonard. Things got off to a slow start for both teams. Raptors up six zero in the start of the first quarter. JJ Reddick gets the first points four to seventy Sixers Raptors three for twelve, seven and a half to go in the opening quarter, JJ for three. That's up and good hallelujah. A tripled by the Sixers
and was seven twenty to go. It's six to three to buyas Harris with the basket following there after a hard drive to the basket to make it six to five. Kawhi Leonard then with a steel and a dunk to make it ten to seven Toronto and Bead gets an inside layup to make it fourteen eleven. Raptors still in front. Jimmy Butler though with the scoop lay up towards the end of the quarter final five seconds of the opening quarter, Butler Little name Butler with the left hand scoop and
good with under four seconds ago. That makes it a five point game, but the Raptors half time much needed basket at the end of the first Eighteen to thirteen was the score after that bucket. That was the score at the end of the first frame for the Toronto Raptors. The Sixers then get off to a start with Joelyn Bead tips and a Scott missed twenty one fifteen James Ennis with a corner three pointer. Right here Leonard has
Reddick and now jj gets free. He tries to split two defenders with a pass he does got into the corner Ennis for three and huge big three point shot is good by James Ennis right in front of the Raptors bench. Four point game. Light Nights and minutes for Ennis and Scott in this big game. Seven for the
seventy Sixers. JJ Reddick, top of the key three point two makes the twenty four twenty one as the Sixers again down only three at that point, Joel and Big gets the ball stolen by Kawhi Leonard makes it twenty nine twenty one after the dunk four the all star Raptor, of course, Ben Simmons with the jump hook to make it thirty one twenty five. Tobias Harris with a three parton me. Tobias Harris yes, a three pointer from Ben
Simmons to make it thirty seven thirty three. Sixers starting heat up offensively, Simmons on the backdout Simmons against Danny Green, jump pass to Harris out top for three at ten sure open tray and he nails it. Simmons commands a double down low at Tobias Harris with the three before that James and it is with another driving layup to
make it thirty four thirty three. That was the first lead four the seventy six is extending it there on it Harris three pointers, but the Toronto Raptors then they go on their own run of their own. Kawhi Leonard here with a great play along the baseline. Kawhi Leonard with thirteen points off the switch guarded by Harris outside right between the legs, dribble Yo yos that trouble over the right hand in the lane. The bat comes over, Hank spends it up an end her remarkable shot. How
do you do that? Leonard going right for that for the reverse, Oh baby, great player making great plays forty one thirty nine after that bucket forty four to forty at the end of two Marcus Saul with the leaning shot to start off really the quarter for the Toronto Raptors, making it forty nine forty one, a sixteen to four Toronto run at this point dating back to the end of the second quarter. But jj Reddick and must much
needed bucket for the seventy sixers. It beat to Harris to bias against Lowry, back out to jj Pakes to three troubles around green two ball is good foot was Almaline jj Reddick making the field goal. The officials then overturned that when making it a three after a further review, make it fifty to forty four. At that point, Harris with a right wing three to make it fifty to forty six. Toronto's still in front and beat with a sidestep and one. Fifty to forty nine. Six is really
starting things going eight O run for them. Jimmy Butler kept it going with a basket to continue the run. Harris turns faces six to shoot jap step left hand dribble, backing out the Butler. Butler on the move, hanging fire right shut up at the Jimmy Butler scores it right two mind two man game on the right side. With the clock winding down, Butler just his second field goal fifty two fifty at that point and eleven oh run
by the seventy sixers. JJ Reddick follows up with a three pointed to make it fifty five fifty, Butler with two free throws to make it fifty seven to fifty a sixteen oh run by Philadelphia. As they start to pull away, things are looking good. Kawhi lean it though with a three off of two offensive rebounds by the Toronto Raptors to make it fifty eight fifty seven, a thirteen and three run at that point, and embed with
a baseline dunk right here for the sixers. The Sixers have the ball down three if be making the move into the lay with a two hand slab get out of the Waga saul he backet comes but late and Joella being with a dunk He's got twelve. Great play on the face up Toronto up by one, sixty three sixty two. A seventeen to seven run for them to close out the third quarter up sixty seven fifty sixty four at the end of three. Tobias Harris starts off the quarter with a short jumper sixty seven sixty six.
Raptors in front. Ben Simmons with the floating layup to make it seventy to sixty eight. As they go back and forth trading buckets, Jimmy Butler starts to get going in the third quarter fourth p. Nine to go, Sixers trail by five with the full high screen roll with Butler and it beat. Jimmy comes off firing three point shot is good. Jimmy Butler put to the Sixers now cut the lead to two. Butler's first trade in the
game seventy three seventy one. Raptors up on the Sixers, Joeln b with a timely three to make it seventy six seventy five to give the seventy Sixers a lead by one Raptors score. Ben Simmons returns to favor with a jump hook to make it seventy eight seventy seven. Then Kawhi Leonard gets a baseline jumper a few possessions later, plus the foul eighty five eighty but not to be done. Outdone JJ Reddick with the jumper and the foul. Simmons one of old the baker the name back to the basket,
right hand, dribble backing. He goes out to JJJJ, curls. He shoots along too. It's gone. He's fouled. He buck on the close out him checks JJ, Reddick and Reddick get it up slow. He just did a summer saul. That's where the score was tied at eighty five eighty five, with three thirteen to play in the game. At that point, Sixers with a rebound defensive rebound after he missed by the Raptors could not get a shot off the next
possession out of the time out. Great defense again down the other end for the Sixers, another opportunity to get a good look at the basket. Another turnover, could not get his shot off for the seventy sixes. Kawhi Leonard, though then gets a lean end jumper with his foot on the line to make it eighty seven eighty five. Jimmy Butler with one free throw to make it eighty nine eighty six, Raptors missing the missing, splitting the pair at that point. Kawhi Leonard then missing his own free throw.
Jimmy Butler gets a layup right here as the crowd quiets. They're on their feet here at Social Bank Arena. The second free throws no goes, it's tip. The ball is picked up by the Sixers. Harris on the move to Butler, Jimmy drives, it goes in. It's a lamp. It's gone. But four seconds ago, time out Toronto and we're tied at ninety. Great play by Jimmy Butler stepping up in the fourth quarter, setting up the drama for how the game ended. Right here, Harris plays off the ball, Kyle
and Siakam screen for Leonard. Leonard has it out top Leonard against Penn Simmons. Two seconds ago. Kawhi Leonard Hanks fire shot up, hit Rims and hit Rims and it went in. Toronto wins ninety two to ninety. Are you kidding me? Suspended animation, a pause, and then the ball went in. Kawhi Leonard has won. The game does not get any easier hearing it yet again. But a great play by a great player in this series as he played so well, coming up big with a great close
out and a great contest by Joel Embiid. As Kawhi Leonard faded towards the baseline, fading out of bounds, still gets enough on the shot to give him his team an opportunity, give himself a chance to make that shot, ball bounces off of the backboard, gets the favorable role and the Raptors win on that bucket ninety two ninety to end the Philadelphia seventy six ers season. They again advanced.
The Raptors due to face the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference Finals and the Sixers head home for the summer. The Sixers on the night twenty eight of sixty five from the field, shooting forty three percent, but being out shot twenty four times by the Toronto Raptors thirty four to eighty nine, as they shot thirty eight percent from

more opportunities for fifteen for the Raptors. On second chance opportunities for the Toronto Raptors a low number and sist total sixteen assists only twenty eight meeks for the seventy six or so you understand why that was that way, the same for the Raptors fifteen assists on thirty four
