I'm Matt Murphy and this is the seventy Sixers Scoop from the seventy six Ers Podcast Network for Wednesday, December eighth, twenty twenty one. Please to be joined by Sixers insider Devon Gibbons of ninety seven five The Fanatic and on these editions of the seventy Sixers Scoop, we take a quick look back at the previous game with our takeaways, and then we look ahead at something or someone to watch for in the next seventy six Ers game this week.

Just so happens that the previous game in the next game are the same team, the Charlotte Hornets. Last night a one twenty seven, one twenty four overtime win for the Sixers on the road over the Hornets, the first of two straight. There, what did you take from it? Divon? Good to be back, Matt, I have a scoop for you and everyone. Joel Embiid is really good forty three and fifteen last night on Monday Night in that game and shott the first of two, and he did what

superstars to do and he stepped up. His efficiency from the field was fantastic and only missed five shots getting to the free throw line as well, leading the team and assists was seven. He did it all, and this game needed overtime, and in times like that, you need your big time players to step up in that spot,

and he did exactly that. No, Tyrese, Maxie and the guys played well around dwell mb But for me, that was what really stood out him getting back to himself after struggling for a few games since his return from the health and safety protocols. As you said, it went to overtime, and I know NBA games are a game of runs, so pointing as my takeaway to the second

quarter doesn't make the most sense. But it was an impressive second quarter that I took away for the Philadelphia seventy six Ers, just for the offense to show a forty four point effort in one twelve minute period. That was a new season high for this year's seventy six ers. It was thirty nine against the Bucks in the first quarter at home. Now it's forty four in that second quarter against the Hornets. You know in this matchup, they're

going to be a lot of points score. That's kind of how the Hornets operate, and the Sixers matched them last night particularly with that big second frame. The Sixers are now thirteen and eleven, the Hornets are now fourteen and twelve. There will be a rematch on Wednesday night if you're listening to this on time seven pm Eastern on Wednesday, same place in Charlotte. What is something that

you or someone that you are watching for? In that one, it's more of something as a team as a whole, where they had twenty less field goal attempts than the Charlotte Hornets. Now, while the Sixers issue fifty three percent, in Charlotte shot fifty five percent. I would like that number to be a little bit closer as far as the discrepancy in Charlotte having more opportunities than the Sixers, and part of that can go to the fifteen turnovers that the Sixers had versus the eight that the Charlotte

Hornets had on Monday night. So if they can clean up their turnovers again and their numbers have been low and fifteen pretty good for an NBA game. However, when you see how it all played out, getting to the overtime and then checking the stats at the end and saying, wow, I didn't realize Charlotte had twenty more opportunities to put points on the board. That's something that I would hope

that they can clean up by Wednesday. Thirty six of the seventy Sixers field goal attempts were from beyond the arc. They did make forty two percent. But the players I'm looking for in the next game are Seth Curry and fur Coon Corkmas. Neither player made a three, so the team made fifteen without getting a make from either of those two guys from long distance. And that's what those

guys do so well. So Seth Curry and fur Con Corkmas are the Sixers players that I am looking for in the Sixers Hornets rematch on Wednesday at seven o'clock. So looking forward to that one. Thanks as always, Divine, It's always great to have you, always good to be with you, Matt, Thank you. Closing this edition of the seventy Sixers scoop out with this. As of early Tuesday evening, the same five Hornets who missed Monday's game due to health and safety protocols are expected to miss the next

game as well. That's LaMelo Ball, Jalen McDaniels, Mason Plumley, Terry Rogier, and Ish Smith. Tyrese Maxi non COVID illness was listed as questionable for the Sixers. The uniforms will look different this time around, with the Sixers in their red statement additions and the Hornets in their Teal Icon edition uniforms. The Philadelphia seventy Sixers and the Charlotte Hornets again with the Sixers going for three straight overall seven pm on NBC Sports Philadelphia Plus and ninety seven five

The Fanatic. I'm Matt Murphy. Thanks again to Devon Gibbons for joining me. This was the seventy Sixers scoop from the seventy Sixers Podcast Network for Wednesday, December eight. Boo Boo boo
