Oh, Welcome in to coat Check, the official podcast of the Delaware Bluecoats, the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia seventy Sixers. I'm Matt Murphy and coat Check is presented by Christianna care. Let's get right to it, beball, Paul. Paul.

You your rookie professional season so far. I mean, you get drafted fifty eighth overall by the Sixers and then to recently not only be named the top rookie in the G League in the form of Rookie of the Year, but the top player in the G League by getting the MVP Award. All so, as we record this, you were just named to the All G League First Team, the All Rookie Team, and the All Defensive Team. You're

someone who writes down his goals. First of all, do you physically write your goals down or do you keep them on your phone? I physically wrote them down. I got like the journal, okay. And second, as a precursor to this question, you've talked about it before, because somebody

just asked you in a media session. But Philadelphia seventy six Ers President of basketball Operations Daryl Morey came out and said, talked about your MBA potential, how you've proven yourself at every level, and that he quote expects the NBA to be next. So with that in mind and defining your goals and that whole process, what's next for you in terms of what are some of your upcoming goals now that the G League season is over? Some outcoming goals for me? Uh to lead lead my team

into a championship, you know, the seventy sixers. You know, I want to be able to come in and help it is there to win a championship. I feel short and the G League bubble, but you know I got another opportunity with this group to to win, to win it all. So so when I get the opportunity to come in and help the team, you know, I just

make sure I'm ready. And when you found out speaking of the seventy Sixers, you and the team were when you found out about the MVP Award and Rookie of the Year, you and the Sixers were traveling out west. So take everybody back, when and where did you find out that you had won those two awards? Well, I want I found out about MVP Award before the flight to California to go to state. But I didn't tell anybody because you know, we don't know. Just get to myself.

But then like after you throughout the flight, I guess the white seeing it or something like that, and they had seen it check and yeah, I was like, oh, congratulations, congratulations and all that, and I was like, you know, appreciate it, thank you, you know, so that's that's something they are about to found out for you. And then getting out the plane, everybody's just like congress. You know there was an MVP MVP you know chant that you

know me on trying to stay humble. That's awesome. And Ben Simmons posted it, posted you on the flight on his Instagram story to Bias Harris was tweeting about it. Really, everybody was really happy for you. I'm sure your phone was going crazy to the fact that you were on a flight when it became public information. Your phone, you probably had a ton of notifications. Man. I checked my Instagram and I had like hand went up like two thousand and three thousand follows. I'm like, dang, that's more

on the way. But first, Christianna care as doctors, nurses and caregivers and as neighbors and friends, Christianna Caair is a partner in everyone's journey to greater health and well being? We were both in the bubble with the Bluecoats made it to the G League

Finals as a team, and you've talked individually. You tweeted when the season was over about how you grew both on the court and off the court as a person. In what ways did you feel like it was good for your development playing for coach Johnson and that coaching staff in Delaware? It was it was great for my development coach Coach Johnson, coach conn Yeah, some of the trust of me, you know, he telling me to shoot

the ball more. You know, like he gave me a lot of confidence he had He had a lot of confidence in me, and he helped me put more confidence in myself. So I think when you got more confidence, that automatically makes you like a better player. Um and

off the court. You know, we he was in the bubble, so you got all this time and really, Nna, dude, so you know, I just decided to focus on on getting better, working on myself, so you know, like reading books and meditating, man, you know, just making sure I'm lying to myself with my goals. It just gave me a lot of time to focus on what I really wanted.

What kind of books do you like to read? I like reading self help books, you know, books that I can get something out of instead of just like fiction books. You know, I like reading like Okay, I'm learning about the human body, or like learning about the brain, like books like that, or like I'm learning how to achieve my goals, what I need to do, what it takes to get there before we just do some quick hitters at the buzzer and get you out of here. What

do you think you'll remember the most? What are some of the things you'll remember the most about the G League bubble when you look back on it. It gotta be my teammates. I had raised a group of guys around me. Dudes are hilarious. Who are the funny guys on the blue coats? Were any guys on the blue coats? Gotta be Jamirio Jonald is definitely right. Ray John Tucker hilarious? Uh justin You could probably just say the whole team.

That was a really fun group. But now you got Ray Jean joining you with the sixers too, so that's got to be pretty cool to have him around. It is, we got that connection for sure. Let's do a couple of quick hitters at the buzzer like we used to

do on this show. You made waves on G League Media Day when you introduced yourself and then you said I like food. So the first question to lead us off is what's your favorite pregame meal? What do you like to eat before games? Our favorite pre game new gotta be I like your foster. In a bubble, I would be in stray peanut butter jelly sandwiches. There was no shortage of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches there. They were always out. Also in the bubble, you played chess.

I know you brought your your PS five. You play some video games as well. You said you like to read what would you say is your favorite hobby or thing to do when you're not playing basketball or working out for basketball. That's tough. I mean I got to pick one over the other. Right now, it's probably chess, right, Yeah, it gotta be chess. I love playing chess. I'll go a chess for show. I'm putting you on the spot again. But you can pick a TV show or a movie.

First thing that comes to mind, favorite TV show or movie. Favorite TV show. The first thing that kind of mind is that show called Power Power for show. I watched every episode like a few times. If you could only have three apps on your phone, what would they be? It's messages app. Sure everybody always asks that. Yeah, I don't know if that should be like included or not. We can count it. So two. Your other two go to is when you're not looking at text, messages, YouTube, Instagram.

You're done messages, YouTube and Instagram. I would say a snapchat, but I need the messages more to snatchat. All right, this is the last one. It's a fill in the blank, so it's different. I'm gonna say a sentence and you fill in the blank nice and loud for me at the end. All right, all right. Beball Paul got the g League MVP and Rookie of the Year awards out the mood got him out the mud, all right man, Thanks a lot, Paul really appreciate it. No problem, thanks

having Thanks again to be Ball Paul, Matt Murphy. Until next time, take it or leave it at the coach check.
