Helping leaders motivate their people to a higher level of performance through strong human relations, team building, and goala giving. This is the seven Minute Leadership Podcast with your host Paul Fellavaliedo.
Hello everyone, and welcome to the seven Minute Leadership Podcast. It's episode four seventy nine. Today's episode is titled your people have incredible potential And I want you to let that sentence sit with you for a moment, because no matter what business, industry or team you're in charge of, the people standing beside you every single day have far more potential than you're probably giving them credit for. And here's the truth. Leaders are not just found in the
corner office. Leaders are not just the ones with the title, the paycheck or the business card. Leaders are sitting in your front line. They're in your dispatch office, on your factory floor, in your customer service call center, in driving your company trucks. The challenge is this, do you see that potential and more importantly, are you developing it. Let me give you an example. Think about any championship sports team. On the surface, you see the star player, the one
that racks up all the points. But behind that player is a locker room full of teammates who have the ability to rise up when they're given the chance. Great coaches don't just build stars, they develop the entire roster. They create leaders at every level. That's what makes them champions. Now let's connect this to business. If you're the kind of leader who thinks leadership only belongs to management, you're
leaving an incredible amount of potential untapped. Imagine an organization where every employee thinks and acts like a leader within their role. Your customer service rep doesn't just handle complaints, they own outcomes. Your line worker doesn't just follow the process, they look for ways to improve it. Your driver doesn't just deliver the package, they represent the company with pride. That's the power of developing leaders at every level. So how exactly do you do this? Let me break it
down into three actionable steps for you today. Step one, give responsibility, not just tasks. Stop telling people what to do and start giving them ownership. Instead of saying stack these boxes over there, try saying you're in charge of making sure this shipment is organized correctly and ready for inspection. Responsibility changes how people think, it sparks leadership thinking. Step two teach decision making. Most organizations fail because people are
scared to make a decision without approval. If you want to unlock potential, give people decision making frameworks. Teach them how to weigh risks, how to use company values as a guide, and how to act when you're not there to sign off. Empowered employees act faster, smarter, and with more confidence. In step three, recognize leadership behavior, not just results. When someone steps up, when they show initiative, when they support a teammate, when they handle a tough situation without
being asked, that's leadership. Call it out, celebrate it. The more you reward leadership behavior, the more it multiplies across your team. And think about the ripple effect. If you develop ten leaders in your organization and each of them develops ten more, suddenly you're looking at a culture where leadership is no longer a title. It's a shared responsibility. And that's when businesses transform. That's when cultures shift from
average to unstoppable. So let me close with this. Your people have incredible potential, and I sincerely hope you all see that. Don't be the leader who misses it. Don't be the leader who hoards leadership for the chosen few. Instead, be the leader who multiplies it, who unlocks it, and who watches an entire team rise to levels that they never thought were possible. That's how you transform your business. This has been the seven minute Leadership Podcast, and I thank you for listening.
